Good Evening Everyone!
Back is doing fine today. Think I may have just slept wrong.
🌞🌡️. Today is a hot one. Also rest, weigh and TOPS day. Down 1.75 lbs! Was so glad that happened. Slowly getting things taken care of. I am such a procrastinator.4 -
@RockinRobyn672 WOOHOO WELCOME to our team!!! This is such a great group and now with you here,,, WOOHOO better!! As you get to know various members you'll find such encouragement and no doubt give some also.
@Tabatha_Cain ,, how did the meeting go? Did you get the objective you were wishing for?
@Patti241,, HI Patti!! Is the weather to hot to much at this point outside? Do you do like we do in the winter, more indoor activity?
@Cormierannie ,,, how did the dancing at night go? What type of music do you prefer?
@Lindiemaep ,, We've had much cooler temps here in Maine and I AM NOT AT ALL Complaining!! LOL As you well know I am much happier in the WINTAH!! For now I can't do any extra walking, but I AM HOPING next Monday I will be told a limited amount is okay. I DID get told today I can drive again. I still get so very tired, easily.
@Cseguin2 ,,, When I saw your status earlier on today I DID A LOUD "WOOHOO!!" AND my SMILE WAS SO HUGE!! You've been working so HARD and now your body has adjusted to the "new you" and OFF comes the weight. SO HAPPY For you!! WTG hon!
Have you all noticed the Countdown Activity 1- Information & Blog?
Doing these is optional, HOWEVER with that being said, those who do the countdown activities (As time allows) are far more successful than those who do not (per average member). WHY? These help us to have a successful plan, to be in the right mind set, with the skills we need.
Here's the link to the Activity 1

@Tabatha_Cain I hope your interview went well! Fingers crossed…
@LindieMaeP I, too, love soup—did not for a very long time, but now? Umm ummm good!2 -
Good Morning Airport Friends:
I hope you are all doing well this morning. I decided not to go for my interview as they were wanting to pay me 800 less a month and no option for overtime. I thought it would work but in the end I just could not see taking that much of a pay cut. So I am staying put where I am now and making the best of things at my current job.
@cormierannie - I hope we get cooler weather soon. It is hot outside.
@LindieMaeP - Thank you for the article. I am going to try and implement some of its recommendations
@CSEGUIN2 - It sure is hot already today.
@Dianedoessmiles1 - The meeting went well. I think I did get the response I am looking for. At least I hope. I will have to check the activity out and see if that is something I want to do.
Well it is time to get ready for work. I hope you all have a great day.
Tabatha4 -
Diane: It is hot here. It is supposed to be hot starting today.3

Yesterday as I came into the gathering room, this is who welcomed me. Our newest member of the family, Joey, is as precious as a kitten can come. He doesn't know he's a feline and is certainly his own little person.
@kaliswalker: Thanks for the information on the summer challenge and the motivational planning. If you missed her post, it is under the topics for the 5% Challenge. Glad to see that @Dianedoessmiles1 mentioned it above, too. Here's the link to the Activity 1

@DaffyGirl88 , have moved my response to your question to the chat thread. I see that Ceri (ceriusly1) has posted an announcement "Challenge Rules, In Brief" which also contains a link to her blog that she mentioned. I understand your frustration as I've been there, and this Challenge can seem overwhelming, but after a week or two, it will make sense and follow a pattern. Ceri may have answered your questions, but since you asked me, here is my version (and maybe being in chat, it will help someone else too).
The start date has been announced as Saturday, July 9. We always try to be on our teams a week ahead of the start date to have a week of practice (most teams provide an unofficial challenge that we report in for, but we are not competing against other teams that week - it just helps newbies understand how things work, and helps returning members to get back into their routine.) So, Practice Week will begin Saturday, July 2nd. That means invitations to the teams will go out before July 2nd if at all possible. I suggest going to your "My Groups" page in Community and checking every day for an invitation during the last week of June.
Every week there will be a new challenge (it will be posted on your team, usually late Thursday night PDT, to begin on Saturdays). The exercise component remains the same throughout the 8 weeks. We report our exercise minutes for each day and each exercise minute counts as one air mile. All the team members' exercise minutes are added together as air miles traveled toward our destination for that week. It's a race between teams to see who is first to land their plane at our given destination, but it's the total exercise minutes at the end of the week that determines where our team places in the competition.
The 2nd component of the weekly challenges, Living the Good Life (LTGL), changes each week and is different every season. We get daily points for practicing each healthy habit. Last season they included: food tracking, 8 glasses of water, slowing eating for a 20 minute meal, 10+ minutes of decluttering, Team Spirit (points for writing a blog, for reading and commenting on 3 team member's blogs, and for posting in chat), stretching, practicing a tiny habit of your choice, and measuring portions. Each of the LTGL challenges are explained, with reasons why it is a healthy habit and often with links to resources.
There will be a Discussion thread on your team where you can daily post your exercise minutes and LTGL points. One of the Challenge rules is that you need to post at least once a week, even if your numbers are zeros. If you miss 2 weeks in a row, you will be considered inactive and default your choice of team in the next seasonal Challenge. The same is true for the 3rd component, weigh-ins. You need to post your weight once a week and will be considered inactive if you miss two weeks in a row.
The above is the same for every team. Each team's leaders are then free to offer optional activities in addition to chat. There are things like Question of the Day, games, exercise challenges, motivational quotes - it's different on every team and can change based on who the team's leaders are and member interests.
Hope that helps with understanding what it's all about. If you hang in there and just give it a try, it is most understood by getting on your team and starting to participate in it. Then everything quickly falls into place.

@DNjoys Thank you, that helps tremendously! I've participated in Hogwarts, GoT, and am a team captain for the Biggest Loser so I love a good challenge. I just couldn't figure out what this one was about. Looking forward to it!5

@DaffyGirl88 , glad to have you on board!2

@Dianedoessmiles1: i like to dance to just about any kind of music, from the 1950's until now. my favourite kind of music to dance to is from the 1980's.
good afternoon everyone! it is another very warm and sunny day here today. my daughter says hi to all. both budgie birds are doing well and say cheep, cheep! we are all keeping cool and staying well hydrated today. i have been for a walk and i feel great! i got in some strength training exercises earlier this morning, before it got too hot here. i will be doing some dancing in the evening when it is cooler here. have a great day, everyone! take care and stay safe.4 -
@Dianedoessmiles1 -yay! Happy to see you post! I gotta look at the activity 1 thing. Sort of exhausted right now-covid shot yesterday made me not sleep well and feeling toasty1
-
I’m super excited to be back. I took a few rounds off, and am now definitely ready to travel the world (once I find out my team. I love the fun of a new team sometimes so signed up on the any team is great thread). The 5% challenges help motivate me to get more intentional exercise and to work on other varying aspects of living a healthier lifestyle.3
-
I am gearing up for the 5% challenge and as I do so I have my eyes on the look out for articles that will help with not only food managmenet, ( I hate the word DIE-T) but also with good suggestions for exercising especially for those like me who have to limit their time doing exercise. While breathing does burn calories, it is not enough. So here is a new article I found about shopping and the price of food and the shrinking of food packaging. There should be tips there for all no matter what country you live in.

@Ismeme glad you are back and raring to go - I am sure that what ever team you land on you will bring a lot of positive cheer eh !
@bookieNJ I hope your feeling better now and the shot effects have warn off, I know some got down right sick with their second booster. Not sure I am gonna get it. Have not got the invite, as things in BC are done by age and by immune system. My son got his invite to get the 4th but he is just getting over a cold so he will go later, he has MS so that is why he gets his shots before me. Works for me eh ! All in all, I do hope your feeling better soon !
@cormierannie I like all kinds of music to dance to as well. Of course Amigo the cat tries to help me by following me and then FLOPPING right in FRONT of where I am stepping... I hope it is not too too hot for you, right now we are cool but it is going to warm up!
@NovemberGail your joey in the basket reminds me of my Kartmen in a basket - my very first picture of him when he came to live with me. I still have that picture although he is no longer with me. Thanks for posting.
@Tabatha_Cain I am glad you like the article and it was beneficial with the suggestions. I think it is very important that one enjoys the work they do and also recognizes their value in that work. 800.00 is a lot to loose and I dont' think I would change jobs for that much less either, not with today's economy the way it is. Good idea to find some positive things about your job you have now so you can continue to work at it. No point in working at a job that would make one's life miserable, which is why I retired from my job.
@Marileighea what kinds of soup do you like to make ? I did do the mushroom/broccoli but I used a no salt chicken broth and found it bland and flat, but I add salt to each bowl, I wont' waste it I'll eat it anyway ( my other official title is burn queen as I usually burn my food ) but I do think the broth has a lot to do with the taste.
@Dianedoessmiles1 how's the meal train going ? Or do you have that through your congregation? Don't rush movement, heal first and formost so you can do more later rather then rush and have a set back. I am glad you have someone helping you with the cleaning. When my Bible Instructor ( full time pioneer ) had knee replacement surgery, she had an army of sisters there to help her and her son, they all worked out a schedule so that she was never alone, it was amazing to see that in action! I hope you are enjoying that as well.
WELL the sun is out and I need to get going and get out in that sun. I figure I can do a walk around the park, park my self on a bench, time it and walk around again. Nice suggestion from someone so now I am gonna go try that. Have a great day everyone and keep on the look out for the things you need to be ready for the challenge in July!2 -
@Tabatha_Cain ,, sounds interesting!! I hope it works out for you if you'd like it. I love having options. That's a LOT Of $$$ to lose, I can easily understand that. Is it a job you somewhat enjoy though? Money helps some, peace of mind more so. But in today's economy it's a hard hard choice.
@Patti241 ,,, hmmm it's 60, and I have my AC on. In my wee tiny bit of a defense (LOL I know huh?) it's a high rise, and perhaps at 60 a neighbor or 2 under me may have their heat on. I had mine on yesterday! LOL!! My AC is barely on. In a bit I'll get back up and shut it off, so I DO NOT need my heat on. The sun is shining in, it's a brick building (many cities in Southern Maine make it so if high rises are built (think it's any building over 3 stories) need to be brick, concrete etc, because of a very bad fire back in 1866 when over 1/4th of the city of Portland burnt down). When the sun shines in my place goes 5 to 7 degrees hotter instantly. Awww but, Izzy kitty is now laying in the sun so HAPPILY and I love sun. Please be so careful Patti in the heat. I lived in FL it's opposite of Maine. In Maine we are more inside in the winter, you are all more inside in the Summer.
@Novembergail,,, Awww JOEY!! LOL JOEY you certainly joined by the other 2 kitty cats and more and of course our beloved Billie!! LOL Joey, WHAT DO YOU think of that SILLY BILLIE??
@Cormierannie ,,, Most love the 80's music!! During the start of the pandemic and yes, beyond, there were so many parody's based on 80 music (and others) those kept me laughing so hard!! Helped me to cope with so much being thrown at us on a seconds notice as no one of course really knew the outcome. My ALL TIME favorite is: Coronavirus Rhapsody ~~~ bohemian rhapsody https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KPbJ0-DxTc
@Bookienj ,, hon are you feeling better today? That is usually a 24 hr type of thing. Such a nice lady as you ,, and Mom, Wife, worker etc. shouldn't have to be sick. Now when the kid was small, if I was sick, I was NOT SICK!! LOL we all get that!! Even in the teens, there were a few times I barely slept I was to worried. As if she were an infant!! That never changes, even as adults that worry continues. I found myself asking her "Did you take any Tylenol?" "Are you using ice? Biofreeze?" I was trying to not giggle when I realized,,,, hey grow up in THEIR EYES, and sure we KNOW IT, but yet. Maybe your kids can help you out for a day?
@Ismeme ,, WOOHOO WELCOME BACK!!! If I weren't a leader, I'd certainly play with the ANY Team option!!
@Lindiemaep ,, LOL Amigo and Izzy are 2 of a kind!! WELL AREN'T MOST CATS? If they CAN be underfoot they ARE!! Izzy has been learning at night though I do not see her on the floor!! Poor thing her name should be "IgotSteppedOnAgain." Oh we don't do the meal train, to many of us have allergies, and are so FUSSY that doesn't work here. A friend had broken her leg, we did all do everything we could to help her, but most of us are quite independent, and prepared well. Most of us in the Congregation are older, or have young children. Oh we sure do volunteer to help each other out though! I am ALWAYS being asked "Do you need anything." Catching rides has been extremely easy. Today I did drive, I was cleared yesterday to do so. Thankfully it's my left foot not my right foot. I'm not on any pain meds (I've not been, I hate them) the new antibiotic doesn't affect my reflexes so I am a good to go, though I can not yet do any real walking, not ready for stores yet. Sure hope you enjoyed the park and the sun!!

Good Evening Everyone!
Another hot busy day. Got quite a bit done today. But lots to still do before leaving. My walk today was very slow do to the heat. But that's ok. Tomorrow I will finish the main packing so I am ready to go. I am shocked at how many clothes I can pack into a small suitcase. Anyways need to get read for bed soon. Running late tonight.1 -
The gremlins are at work. I cannot get my blog posted today. Basically, I know I need a tune up or an attitude adjustment. Some bad habits are creeping into my life -- grazing with food, too many sweets, and too much time playing computer games. Today I cut way back on the sweets (except for two Dove dark chocolates. My downfall (even though I am under calories) is the Greek Vanilla Yogurt. One step at a time. I worked my tail off today -- deep cleaning the wood floor in one of the cottages and trimming about ten forsythias. Early to bed tonight and will run around with a friend tomorrow. Looking forward to the outing.
Good to see so many on the chat! Now I'm getting ready for Billy's treat and then bed.2 -
@Cseguin2 ,, will you be able to check for your team invite if it comes while you are away? If not, have you contacted your CL to let them know? HAVE FUN!! WOOHOO!!!! It's AMAZING how much we can cram into a suitcase etc. Please drive/ride safely. BEST OF ALL ENJOY!!
@Novembergail ,,,,Those aren't in my book "bad foods" thee Dove is delicious and not much at all on calories. In many of our books Greek Yogurt is very good, especially for those of us who struggle with getting enough protein. You work so hard, have you updated your weigh in goal? Since it's summer and you are outside so much, is it up to date with your exercise etc.? I had reset mine for the Spring Challenge and it WORKED for me!
NIGHT BILLY!!! BILLIE DO NOT LISTEN to that it's a TRICK to get you to sleep!! RUNNNNNN!!! WAG THAT TAIL!!! LOL YOUR WELCOME Gail! LOL2 -
Hi, I'm new, not sure where we post in for a team? I don't mind which one I get put on, I'll have to bookmark this or something so I can post daily. Cheers!

Good Morning Airport Friends:
I hope your week has been going well. Things are going well here. I am looking forward to the weekend. I am hoping to get to relax. That will be a nice thing. Relaxing.
@NovemberGail - Joey looks so sweet
@cormierannie - Do you think dancing helps with the weight loss? How long do you dance for?
@Ismeme - It does me too. The 5% challenge makes me feel so much better about my weight loss
@LindieMaeP - I wish I could retire. I am not financially able to yet due to being only 42
@Dianedoessmiles1 - I am hoping my current job gets better. It seems better now but I just had a talk with the manager on Tuesday about things.
@CSEGUIN2 - I hope you have a safe trip.
Well it is time to get ready for work. I hope you have a fantastic day.
Tabatha1 -
@Poppy_Merwanjee_Framjee Locate the announcement titled Pick your team please, or something like that. Read the team descriptions, click the link for that team and post to that thread. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10865505/team-choice-pick-your-team-plz-challenge#latest2

@Dianedoessmiles1 Thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement! I'm looking forward to being part of the group.2

Good morning everyone2

Good morning everyone! it is a beautiful sunny day here today! woo hoo! my daughter says hi to all! both budgie birds are doing well and say cheep, cheep! i usually dance for about an hour on average, more if i feel like i still want to dance. i went for a walk this morning and i feel great! i will be doing some dancing later on. i bought and donated some extra food to the local food bank drive this morning at the grocery store close to my home. my daughter works at her part time job after school today. have a great day, everyone! take care and stay safe.1
-
I've decided not to move from Hawaii, so I don't have to face that anymore. I can concentrate on my writing and just enjoy my life here.7
-
@Poppy_Merwanjee_Framjee ,, WELCOME ABOARD!!! Ask a way any questions you have. We all remember when we were new to the 5% and it seems confusing at first, but it'll quickly make sense.
@Tabatha_Cain ,, So glad you were able to talk to your supervisor and things are easier. Hopefully they stay that way. You have a bit before retirement, but many choose to do a part time job just to stay active. ENJOY the weekend!!
@RockinRobyn672 ,, LOL I'm singing the song!! I am sure you hear that often. Your team will be DELIGHTED to have you with them. Ask a way any questions, comments. We love to hear them. The chat is not a requirement for us to post in (some have young families, some work full time, etc. etc.) but it's a great place to learn from each other as we can. No member has to make a comment on other posts, yet, we are here. I used to visit the chat to see if I could find hints to help myself, indeed I did find them. WELCOME!
@Patti241,, Oh Patti, are you giggling yet? Its 65, humidity is at 83 , Dew Point is 59 (60 starts to be to much for easy breathing) hence why my AC IS ON!! LOL Spoiled Mainah! How are you doing there?
@Cormierannie ,,, ENJOY Dancing the night away. That's even an okay song!! Have fun this weekend.
I can tell my foot is feeling better, I am starting to think of "Which lake is nearby?" Of course I see the harbor outside my windows, but harbor water is NOT swimming water, at least not where I am. It is though a 3 min drive to the local beach. It doesn't really have waves, the water is so COLD ALWAYS, but yet, it's a neat beach. It also has a Snack Shack, which I used to LOVE, now? Not so much. Still there's something fun about eating hot fries on a hot day at a cold water beach. My favorite beach has really good waves, is about 12 to 15 mins depending on traffic. When you live in a tourist area, you know to add in extra time from here to there. Tourists support our economy so most of us are nice to them. TY TY TY TO the good tourists for visiting our lovely state.

@LindieMaeP -thx! All better now. My hubby has pre existing stuff so he got his 2nd booster in may. I waited til all our end-of school craziness was over to get mine just in case i had complications from it. My immune system is crummy but they don’t know why-all my blood work is great so they aren’t doing anything else to figure if out.
@Dianedoessmiles1 -all better now! Yup my 17 yo ended up taking herself to a friend’s, my younger one kept me company until book club. Luckily I felt great then -so off I went and she hung out with friends in the library.3 -
I signed up for 'any' team now. Are the teams using WW point system or calories?
I live in a tourist area too. I was able to ride my bike today (yeah sunshine!) and it was very nice, but for whatever reason the 6ft paved trail the tourists find very "narrow" and I was almost hit twice. One fellow looked hypnotized and just bee lined for me crossing from the left all the way to the right while I scrambled to avoid collision.
I guess avoiding a wreck into blackberry vines did make me feel pretty good about my cycling skills which I would actually rate very modest but I have mastered steering around dogs and staying on my side of the trail while passing oncoming bicycles which turns out to be a skill.
I'm glad the sunshine is finally back in the PNW. I had Covid for the first couple of weeks of June and still fit like I was hit by a truck. Cheers! Look forward to the challenge.3 -
So grateful for these challenges! Thought I would share my blog to sweeten your day!

Also for anyone interested I am appearing in the July issue of First For Women. Hoda is on the front cover as am I on the bottom right corner. A before and after picture is on the inside with a short bio.2 -
Good Evening Everyone!
I will be in contact enough that I will be able to get my invite while gone.
Today has been a productive day. I am completely packed except for the last minute things. Still not sure when exactly I am leaving lol. But at least I am ready. Not sure how my plants will look by the time I get back. Hubby hates watering my plants. Got my letter in the mail to contact my worker for an appointment. I only have a week to make the appointment so will do it next week. I am hoping they don't try to make the appointment while I am out of town as that just won't work.1 -
