https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/snacking-on-almonds-can-help-people-reduce-calorie-intake-study-1.6162641
Good morning, an interesting article that I think can go hand in hand with the buffet rules - I love almonds so this would be easy for me to do.
Amigo got his 2nd dose of meds - Gene could not give him the first one then had trouble with the stopper - sigh - I burrito'd him this morning and between the two of us gave him it. He's not eating the food a lick here and there, so I tried mixing half and half of old food new food and see which will entice him to eat. I may have to go get some parmegan to also help entice him to eat. He gets his next dose at 6 pm ... be interesting to see.
@Tabatha_Cain glad you got a sale of a policy and hope you can do more! Have a wonderful day at work and enjoy your time off.
@Dianedoessmiles1 I know what you mean about quality over quantity. I think the vet thought I had $$$ stashed somewhere as she commented on my earrings. They are special - white silver with pink stones so look rich ... Anyway, there is another place we can take Amigo if necessary, I'll get the address from our neighbour.
@everyone have a wonderful day today and enjoy what ever you have planned, even if it is work, have fun! Cause you can !

On November 20 I posted a photo of what I thought was a plant? Here is the response I got from Mo. Dept. of Conservation -- frost flower
If you’ve been out exploring the countryside on a cold, late-autumn morning, you may have encountered the short-lived frost flower. Not really a flower at all, frost flowers are delicate, beautiful ribbons of ice crystals that form on the lower stems of a few species of Missouri native plants.
Frost flowers typically occur only in late fall after the first few hard freezes and while the ground is still warm. Their season is brief, and they disappear quickly on the day they occur, melting like frost when the air warms or rays of sunlight fall on the delicate structures.
I feel like a won a lottery! Thank you, Billie, for dragging me out into the woods2 -
@Dianedoessmiles1 when will we be able to join our InBetween groups? I thought invites would have gone out by now as we only have 3 days left to the fall challenge... Thanks muchly, I finally got Amigo to eat some of his treats, I also researched changing his food and he should have 75% old to 25% new so I will fix him a new bowl and toss what was left. Since I only give him 1/4 a serving 4 x a day I will have to figure out so that the friskies is not over powered by the new as I gradually give him the new better for him. He's still mad at me for forcing his meds...2

@Tabatha_Cain ,,, WOOHOO On the sales at work!! WTG!! It's fun watching you be excited and enjoying work!! To help dogs (SO MUCH Easier than cats!) with tartar in their teeth it's pretty easy to brush their teeth, youtube has many videos on how to do this without any trauma. Dogs live to please us, but CATS LOLOL If a cat likes us we've EARNED IT!! LOLOL Cats can be such twits though they are very very cute also.
@Patti241,, HI Patti!! WOW It's so nice here today!! Hope it is for you also. Its currently 42 and feels like 46. I went grocery shopping (hit it JUST RIGHT at 1 PM for only 2 in line ahead of me!) on the way home I was so hot I took off my light jacket!
@Lindiemaep ,,, sadly our pets get older and that's the way it is. Of course usually at 12 to 14 they do pretty well, it's usually around the age of 16 we face the issues we are with our sweet kitties. But, I refuse to make Izzy's life longer, but with some trauma. Of course short term meds are FINE!! I am all for that!!! Awww Amigo, I tried to burrito Izzy, but she is so smart she KNEW the moment she saw the towel what was going to happen and the RACE WAS ON!! LOL TWIT KITTY!! SMART KITTY!! And you may be too. If you'd like to talk to Izzy the number is,,,,, LOL!! Your Momma has it. (Linda was a leader on the PS4L team which is why, plus we have more in common). Of course now Linda has JUMPED SHIP!!! Hehehehehe hey as long as you are happy and enjoying it.
@CormierAnnie,,, Glad your TALL Friend was able to help. Last night a shorter than I am friend and I were talking. WE need to talk to our TALLER AND YOUNGER FRIENDS!! LOLOL
@Novembergail,, That's so COOL!! WOW!! Neat!! Hey congrats!!! Creation is amazing!
@Lindiemaep ,,, when ever one switches a cat over,,,, usually its done slowly because cats are TWITS and BRATS!!! LOL I am sure thats why they are so adorable!! At first a 25 new 75% old for a few days, than 50/50 for a few more days to see if they are still eating it well, and tolerating it it okay, than 75 new to 25% old ,,, once you are sure kitty is okay, or if you wish to use it all up,,, that all works.

@Dianedoessmiles1 thanks for responding to my question about the IBC - I will be watching ( and was lol ) and Yes I jumped ship, I need to spread the love and help other teams too ! Thanks about the food, I googled it and found that too, however, Amigo is NOT biting and not accepting the new food. He did eat some treats this morning and that is that, other then the meds, he's sleeping in his tree right now, has a horse ( if a cat can have one ) meow so we are watching that too. Gene thinks he has a sore throat ... and has cat covid... sigh... someone help me, no never mind it will all work out.
I still need 19 min of exercise and then I am done for the day - it's raining so no going out and it is a cold rain too so inside it is.

Good Evening Everyone!
Today turned out not to bad. It was sunny and reached the low 40s F. Gained 1 lb this week. I was honestly surprised it wasn't more. I'd did program at TOPS this week. Should have proof read what I typed and printed out. Oh well. There was a couple of issues with the residents today. But that is expected when dealing with people that suffer from mental illness. I stood my ground when needed. They had chicken legs, oven baked potato chunks, peas, potato soup, turkey gravy and pears for desert. Had to get creative along the way as we ran out of potatoes and then chicken. So glad to get out of work on time tonight.1 -
Good Evening everyone,
Today was beautiful--in the low 60's. I worked steady and slow today. Connie's menu is making me hungry tonight. Looks like it's Thanksgiving on the brain.
@LindieMaeP: I'm glad to hear that you are singing and dancing in the rain. That is the weather forecast for Thursday, here.
Again, I am sorry to hear that Amigo is having a hard time but is enjoying treats. Sometimes, our little ones need to be spoiled. I like what @Dianedoessmiles1 believes: quality over quantity.
As for Billie, she was as good as gold. Yesterday I had to fill a huge hole that she dug. By huge I mean at least six large rocks and a fourth of a bucket of river rock and then two buckets of dirt. Lifting those containers need to be counted as strength training.
Tomorrow's word is: POWER

@Lindiemaep ,,,, With Amigo's food then do 90% Old, 10% new and slowly so slowly go him over,, the first few times you feed him I'd give him all of his normal for a few meals, not long and ever so slowly increase it. Sometimes they are so naughty, though ever so cute!! Cold days equal inside exercise! WOOHOO!! SO MANY VIDEO's!!
@Cseguin2,,, Maybe next week though that's the week most will gain ,,, T Day and all. Good job on standing your ground with the residents/patients. I am not sure if you work in a place where it's a faculty that people live in or if it's more of a care place such as a hospital setting, but if you let them walk all over you at all, they'll take on over as much as they can. NO DOUBT they do appreciate food that tastes good!! TY TY TY TY!!!
@Novembergail,, in the 60s!!??? YO!!! We are in generally the low 40s in the day and upper 20s/low 30s at night. OH IN A WEE BIT hehehehehe we'll be doing good to get above freezing!! Tonight I went out the car, of course it's dark just after 4 ,, it was 6:10 and almost SLIPPED on a little bit of ice!! THANKFULLY my shoes are very good! They stayed right there and didn't force the "can you catch yourself issue". I do not hardly go out at night, but if I go to meeting on Tuesday nights and it's dark out, I probably should get a very small flashlight well I HAVE A FEW ,,, LOL They are IZZY's!! They have a laser light (FOOL CAT WILL STILL CHASE THAT! LOL) and a regular flashlight too. OHHH BILLIE GIRL!! Seriously CLEAN UP YOUR HOLES When you make them!! That's a SUPER ST!!2 -
Good Morning Airport Friends:
I hope you are doing well this morning. Today is going to be a good day. I am going to have a good day. Yesterday I left work early due to my monthly flow being heavy and really painful so I have to get it together and work harder today. I did not want to leave early but it was rough. I am feeling a little better today.
@LindieMaeP - Sometimes we have to sandwich our cats with a towel or blanket to get them to take their medicine. It stinks but it is for their own good.
@cormierannie - Glad you got your tasks done. That is always a nice feeling
@NovemberGail - That is great. You got a photo of a rare flower. Awesome. It was beautiful
@Dianedoessmiles1 - I love all my dogs and my cats. My cats definitely do whatever they want. The dogs are all better cuddles and loves.
@CSEGUIN2 - Glad you stood your ground. You should. Dinner sounds great by the way.
Well it is time to get ready for work. I hope you all have a great day.
Tabatha2 -
Diane: It was nice here yesterday as well. It is supposed to be nice here today as well.2

good morning everyone! it is a beautiful sunny day here today! my daughter says hi to all. both budgie birds are doing well and say cheep, cheep! i did my strength training workout earlier this morning and i really enjoyed it. i went for a walk a while ago and i feel great! i will be doing some dancing later on. later on in the afternoon i will be going through what stuff i have in my storage unit. i have not done this for a while. i have made some time each day for the rest of the week to go through what i have in my storage unit. have a great day, everyone! take care and stay safe.1

Wishing you all a wonderful day. Hugs and blessings, Joyce

@Tabatha_Cain ,,, Hope today you felt better. UGH so sorry about yesterday. Guys have NO CLUE what its like. Its a clear benefit of being older though!! NO MORE OF THAT!! If you are traveling please be careful. LOL I KNOW I've EARNED Izzy's love and am also at her beckon command!! LOLOL but, I love it. She KNOWS THAT!
@Patti241 ,, here to today!! I didn't go out, but it was gorgeous looking out the window!!
@Cormierannie,,, WOOHOO on going through the storage place!! AMAZING how much we can gather through the years. I am downsizing and have been. LOL I didn't have a lot to begin with , but I want only the absolutely essentials and a few extras to enjoy. It's so hard to get rid of art stuff, but even with that I have some of it. Helps that a neighbor has recently started to dabble and she doesn't have many extra funds, yet she's very appreciative. I don't have a lot I am giving away, but enough for her to play with. She tends to hoard so I am very very careful to only pass her things I know she's been doing and not much of it!
@Kurtize,, I know you are thankful every day as most of us are. It sure does help in todays world, the stream of time we are in to be thankful. Grateful.1 -
We have had two lovely balmy days...now the cold front is pushing thru and tomorrow will be brisk! Any talk of eating out under the shelter is a mote subject now for sure! I am waiting to get a call saying BYOC..bring your own chair!! heeeheee!
Doing prep to get ole Tom Turkey ready for the oven, other than that it was a "be quiet" day as Angela was working. Muffin has become a 4 alarm siren dog if she hears any noise and that pup can bark!! Also once she starts she is hard to shut down so I used that as an excuse to just go out and visit neighbors. My pups will sleep quietly while I am gone, once they are fed that is!!
On the idea of coauthoring a book..mmm might be something to think about. Since your book would be about Billie and mine would be about Skinner,,we could be each others proof readers and editors..then decide on a joint subject to confab on. Got to say Billie's adventures are definately book worthy!!
FOR ONE AND ALL ....MAY YOU HAVE AN ENJOYABLE THANKSGIVING DAY!

Good Evening Everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating!
I don't have to worry about the Thanksgiving gain as I went through it in October as I am Canadian and that's when we celebrate.
Today was sunny and fairly warm. Not sure if it was warmer than yesterday but it felt like it. Got quite a bit done today. Worked on my bookclub assignments, laundry, dishes, and even decluttered some extreme dust. Also did a bit of strength but not enough to count for my team. The residents had ham, scalloped potatoes, carrots, chicken and rice soup, and brownies with icing. Also had a resident come in and want me to make him his mac and cheese. Not sure when we became a restaurant. Hopefully the manager can put a stop to this before others start expecting the same treatment. Where I work it is more like a retirement home instead of a hospital setting. Meals are done in a cafeteria setting. Most of the residents are in there 30s and 40s and have mental illnesses.1 -

@Katiecondy1 ,, OH WAS A HOPING I'd see ya pop on!! Here's something in case you need a vegan turkey for a recipe
You and @Novembergail would do such a GREAT BOOK!!! Awwww Skinner was such a character!! WE ALL LOVED Skinner!!
@Cseguin2 ,,, I do not celebrate either, it's a choice. My GD for a few years worked in a residential setting with people who had traumatic brain injuries. She was living with me when she came home from her first day looks at me and says "It was like being with you and Momma!" "What do you mean hon?" "I have 2 clients I am assigned to. The first one just wants to sleep all day and do nothing (her mother) and the 2nd one is quite lively and I NEVER KNOW What she'll say and do!" I BURST OUT Laughing!! Here's something that they came up with that could possibly help you. If you say "no" or any such a thing it'll usually turn into something unpleasant!! However if you say "If you do not like mac and cheese there's also and name it all off." Often given the choice of just the words, some will realize it's that is that. Of course some places also have things like PB and J and bread, so those are the choices. IF they think they can manipulate you around,,, it'll go crazy from there. I'm sure your supervisor can be of a help also.
@Hicim705 ,,, OH Heidi!! We are so happy you are with us!!! Your organizational skills are AMAZING!!! Enjoy tomorrow. LOL Did you see the turkey above?2 -
Dianedoessmiles1 wrote: »@Hicim705 ,,, OH Heidi!! We are so happy you are with us!!! Your organizational skills are AMAZING!!! Enjoy tomorrow. LOL Did you see the turkey above?
@Dianedoessmiles1 ~ Yes, I did - I'm hoping that our version looks slightly different! - LOL3 -
Good morning everyone2

@hicim705 ,,, LOL A vegan friend got SO EXCITED when I sent her this, I think I'll make her a small one. More of a Cornish game hen.
@Patti241,, I hope you get to enjoy the day!! Later I am going to a friends house, we aren't having Thanksgiving, for we are thankful every single day. But we WILL have plenty of giggles! That just makes life so much more fun!1 -
In a world where so many are hungry,
may we eat this food with humble hearts;
in a world where so many are lonely,
May we share this friendship with joyful hearts.

Good morning everyone, an update on Amigo, he's still with us, he's still weak, but is now eating and drinking water in small amounts, he still has to have his meds for a few more days. Infact Gene gave it to him this morning while I was sleeping so I will have to medicate him later. Won't that be fun!! He will be mad at me for a couple of hours and I will just let him be mad, He's asleep in his cat tree right now so that is ag ood sign,he had to jump up from the chair to get in. When he is off his meds I am going to give him plain greek yogurt and if he wants a blueberry or two, he can have that in moderation and will help what ever tummy troubles he may have.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today, like @Dianedoessmiles1 I am thankful everyday. And @Dianedoessmiles1 you too funny woman !! Where's mine ?? I want a turkeney like that too but fill mine with Reecies Pieces ... LOLOLOL then I share with granddaughter who is called Reecy!! and yes we call her Reecies Pieces and she smiles. The sun is shining so I am heading out for a walk to get my 120 fitness minutes in shortly.

Good Evening Everyone!
Today was a warm and sunny day. Started raining on my way home from work. It definitely was a productive day. Worked on my bookclub assignments, did some exercise, decluttered another shelf of all the dust bunnies, had a call back from Hubbies disability worker and got the file off suspension as it was her fault and also got a couple other things straightened out, laundry and dishes. Also walked to run my errands. Got home in time to put groceries away, have lunch and get ready for work. The residents were all very well behaved tonight. For dinner the residents had cabbage rolls, California mix vegetables, oven roasted potatoes, tomato soup, and a choice of vanilla or chocolate pudding. When I ran out of cabbage rolls they got leftover lasagna we had frozen. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day I hope. Will tell ya'll about it tomorrow.1 -

Good morning everyone, well not much change with Amigo and getting him to eat is problematic but I know his weakness and this morning I got 2 cans of friskies ( yea I know not good food ) with gravey as I knew he would lap up the gravey and get at least something in him, and some pieces of turkey on the way too - he did exactly that, I gave him his normal 2 tsp full and walked it to his tree. I tested him first to see if he was interested and he sure was. Then I put the bowl behind him on his tree bed and sure enough when I looked back, he had gotten up on all 4's and was eating. Then afterward he left the cat tree and is laying on the chair next to it so I removed the left over turkey pieces. I figure that is better then nothing but I did read that I should not force him to eat. So I used enticement instead lol - it's more for me really as I am worried because even after 3 days of meds he still not eating. Funny though he sure has strength to fight the meds - it's liquid in a dropper - an antibotic - I did research his being Anemic and that is very serious too just like it would be for a human. However when we asked about food for him they gave us food for the gastronic area... Anyway we wait and wait will we need a cat body bag? Dunno ... hope not for a while anyway.
@Kurtize love the post !! I was just saying on another team that I feel very good about what I have done this challenge and even if the scale does not meet my original goal, I am happy with what I have achieved and I can go from there during the IB!!
Well, have a wonderful Friday and weekend too !!
