You have a point. I'm maybe stopping to visit a friend in Halifax on the way home. (yes - going further east after the ferry ride :) is "on the way home" )

    Friday Moves
    173 minutes - fat burn
    8 minutes - cardio
    1 minutes - peak
🐝 Lots of avoiding desk work yesterday :) - a little more organizing - knocked down an 8'x8' stretcher that I took the canvas off of and rolled up for storage - and salvaged the wood :) that was about it.
    πŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ two doggie walks.
🚴🏻 cycled to and from the theatre - hoping for 15 minutes of cardio - but apparently not - I blame the stop signs and red lights. Did I mention I was trying to avoid desk work? Saw 3,000 years of longing. It was beautiful.
    :( πŸ’ƒπŸΌ no dancing - fool

Did some weeding today. I don't know how long I was out there. At least 15 minutes. Definitely no more than a half hour. 🌱

🐝 helped a friend repair and then reinstall a ridiculously heavy and oldish wooden gate. Nothing else of any real calorie burning calibre.

πŸ’ƒπŸΌ a bit of wiggling at said concert - no mad dancing virtually no cardio :( Today. I. Will. Dance. This afternoon, while potatoes are cooking. :)

🐝 A little yard work (tiny little bit)
πŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ doggie walks and walked to the theatre to see "Polyester" - still not sure how I feel about that one.
πŸ’ƒπŸΌ okay - no more attempts at daily dancing until I'm lighter. My right knee is really unhappy - and despite all the "bad" things xray/ultrasounds have shown over the years my knees were doing okay on a basic functional level...until now...walking has become really painful. SO. I took some pills and I've ordered a rowing machine. Hopefully that will get me some cardio numbers without wrecking my knee! (will let you know tomorrow :) )

A good friend who also lost a lot of weight and has joined a local rowing club these past 7 years definitely worked a lot on technique with the coaches to increase his impacted by his former obesity core strength so as to ensure safe (esp for his back) rowing!!! If this makes sense, row safe and smart and maybe quick refresher at a club????! 😘

Anyone still exercising? I’m still going to the gym 3 times a week. Not the most strenuous schedule but pretty good for an old lady?

Been walking at least a little bit most days depending on weather. Going to do about 30 minutes today I think. Just walk down one side of the road and back up the other. Nothing fancy. Just not sure I have enough time today to go over to the lake front. That may be a tomorrow trip. Sunday I will be walking around the Field Museum all day so that counts right?

Good idea, PAV. (written a week ago!)

Of course it counts - especially as winter comes! You go, Girl!

Walked... a lot. Left the house about 11am and got back after 1:30pm. This was after walking to a small French market and then the grocery that morning.

About to get up and get ready. Gotta walk to the train station (15 mins walk) and take the EL into the city for the day. Walking around the Field Museum today.

I love a walkable city Athijade. So much to do and see while you travel around.
Austin is definitely not walkable because of the heat/humidity and distances. They try to convince us to use bicycles but same problems apply unless you’re a super athlete - and then what do you do with the grocery bags while your milk/meats/ frozen food goes bad on the ride home?

I am so tired after all the walking this weekend. Today I will be taking it pretty easy though I may walk to the store and get some juice. I like having something that is not water, but I am pretty good at limiting myself to 1 glass a day at most. Usually after dinner when I crave something sweet.

Is it just me? The days I go to the gym, I realize that I am hungry all day. I always have pretty much the same breakfast. The other meals are sensible. But on gym days I just want to eat everything! Grab and go all day between meals.
I don’t expend many calories at the gym so that isn’t it. ...?????

And yet... for some people appetite goes down... for others up when they exercise. Could you play with timing? perhaps a bigger meal or snack before/after gym? whichever works better?

Could be that the all- day hunger is more mental than physical? I’ve considered that maybe I’m just tired from the gym which then makes me less mentally controlled. I usually get to the gym at 6 am before eating.

Fatigue tends to make me hungry. Usually though the fatigue from insufficient sleep. As if eating too much will bring new energy when rest is what the situation calls for.

So Fitbit is SOOOOOO inspiring today (and even more so about "accuracy".

"It was love at first sync Time flies when you’re feeling strong. Celebrate 1 year with Fitbit & the goals you’ve crushed along the way. Since 03/12/21"

And boy have we had an AMAZING ONE year@ 41,166 active zone minutes; 49,110,325 steps together; AND, last but not least... 4,957 days of activity!

Still trying to figure out how I managed to squeeze in 13.5 years of activity in the less than the max 10 or so years I've either owned a Fitbit or used a Fitbit app!?!?!?!?!?!!? :open_mouth:

You must have slipped into another dimension somewhere??? But still - congrats on all the activity between this one and that one!

Gym this morning at 6am - as usual. What is it with people who sit down at a piece of equipment and then pull out their phone? And sit there texting or whatever forever!
It was a stormy morning and I’m not able to take long outside walks any more. I miss the freedom of not having to wait on inconsiderate people.

That would be so very frustrating, Yooly. :s GRRRRR

I used the rowing machine I bought a few months ago for the first time yesterday! WOohoo. My knee has been giving me some trouble - didn't really want to bend - but last week, a few hours after an intense visit with the osteopath/kinesiologist, it gave a big painful pop, and it seems to be on the mend! I know there are lots of problems inside there - but they are a chronic kind of painful - this thing going on was still holding on since my mad dancing with the little girl - and that was three months ago. Anyway, walking is much less painful these days! And rowing seems possible. And I was just blaming it all on the weight gain. But it seems that something was out of place somehow. Fingers crossed. And. And. Nobody else can come sit on the rowing machine and text forever.

The people sitting on the exercise equipment are mainly skinny chicks or young guys. They go to the gym early before work but aren’t really there with a purpose. They come for a few weeks and disappear. But who are they texting at that hour? Surely they aren’t all brain surgeons or nuclear physicists who are on call 24/7.

The only other grrrrs are the old geezers who are trying to kill themselves doing reps on heavy weight equipment - a futile effort to regain the bodies of their youth. They are scary because it’s a coronary waiting to happen. At their age shoot for FIT not BUFF.

Luckily these folks are not the majority! Honestly people - just get in there do what you need to do and go home.

I did a lot of walking the last few days. Which reminded me that I need to watch out for overdoing as my hip bursitis might flair up. I’m a bit achy today.
I don’t need another year of physical therapy and pain! But my head says go ahead and push yourself a little more - the old body says β€œI don’t think so!”

Not timed really, but I did take a 2 mile walk today! 1 Mike each way to Trader Joe's. I feel accomplished because it wasn't that long ago that I often failed to be able to do 1 mile.

    A w e s o m e ❣️

One of my first goals in 2014 was a month with no single day less than 5,000 steps.

That's a person who already had a dog and was "used" to taking him out for "an hour"

Still took me 3-4 months to accomplish the 30 days @5k+ steps.

It was more than 8 months before I hit occasional days of 10k steps.

So patience and good injury / workaround management!!!
