HOW IT ALL WORKS: The October challenge runs from October 2nd - 29th. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!

Every challenger weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat thread. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for longer. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Hi Mission Slimpossibles, I'm Kathy the team motivator and live in California with my two cats. I'm 51 and have been part of this team for about three-and-a-half years. Crazy how long it's been, wow! I have chronic pain/health issues that have been challenging for a few decades now and the health issues especially had a lot to do with joining MFP and getting my act together, I'd been on pretty heavy pain medication for a few decades and went off them and was real sick for awhile due to my liver. pancreas, and undiagnosed diabetes. I'd lost a little then was still sick from my liver and on diabetes medication so I decided I had to stop actively dying and starting working out, logging here again, and watching what I ate and have everything under control except my pain and blood pressure (on medication for that instead of going on higher pain meds as it's pain-related). I do chair cardio, strength training, and stretches most days as my legs are challenging to use in most exercise. I'm active with a local charity I'm secretary with, volunteer at the food bank farm, and do some work for my brother. I'm in a new relationship and spend a lot of time with my family, in my garden, or reading and just started going to concerts again a few years ago. I'm right around goal weight again and tend to eat low-moderate carb most of the time.

    Let's have a wonderful October!

Hi friends!!! I love love love this group. This will be my 3rd month! You guys are the best!

My name is Shauna, I’m a 39.5 year old from Oklahoma but I’m hardly ever home! My husband hauls heavy oversized equipment over the road and I go with him almost every trip now that both of my kids have graduated high school. My son just turned 18 and my daughter will be 21 this year. I had my kids young and close together so that I could enjoy life actively with them and once they were grown, that is just what I’m doing!!! Hiking is my passion and refuge from stress. Seeing my kids end their hs years took a huge emotional toll on me. I never thought it would be so hard, I gained

@19shmoo69 - I think you should repost that Grandpa joke in this chat because it was very funny.

@shaunarlr83 - Can you tell me how you make all those pretty charts? And also the graphics for your posts?

Hi Slimpossibles! I’m Teresa and I’ve been here for a long time. I live in Athens, GA with my wonderful husband and little dog, Maggie Mae. My mom and sister also live with us, so we have a houseful, but it all works really well. I have a wonderful job as the church administrator for my church. I feel like I’ve been battling my weight since I could walk. But I don’t give up and currently, I’m going to a weight support group called TOPS with my sister. I’ve done a ton of diets and mostly find that a combination of intermittent fasting and low carb works the best for me. I also to Beachbody on Demand workout programs for both the health and emotional benefits it gives me. I’m thankful for this wonderful group who support and uplift each other every day.

Good morning! Not much going on today other than a whole lot of desk work and reorganizing our files to put in a new fireproof box I bought. I do plan to work out and keep food out of my mouth since my weight has gone up every day this week. Ugghhhh!! :# But it's a new month and I'm praying for a good one! Hubby and I have an anniversary trip planned to the Smoky Mountains that I'm really hoping will be good for us and not a bad idea in light of all his health issues. :)

Hi everyone! A big welcome to the new team members, and welcome back to the returning members, I am so glad you are here!

I am one of your Mission Slimpossibles captains along with @broncobuddee. Our wonderful motivator is @Katmary71!

    CHECK-IN PROCESS
Along with our weekly weigh-ins, we REALLY encourage our team members to participate in regular check-ins. It’s a great way to stay accountable to yourself and it allows the team to cheer you on and offer support as you need it. We are a community, and we are stronger together!

LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER
Please share a little bit about you: your name, where you live, and what brought you to the Fat2Fit Challenge Group. Also share anything else you would like to, including any goals for the year. We are here to support and cheer you as you go through your weight loss adventure!

    MY INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone. My name is Chris. I live in Southern California with my husband and cute one-eyed pirate pug. Up until my mid-20s, I was a healthy weight but then the mid-20s hit and along with that came medications that made me gain weight as well as poor lifestyle choices. I use the Healthi app. I have about 65 lbs to lose. For exercise, I like to walk and talk with friends as well as hike but I don't hike much anymore. I recently have been experiencing a lot of knee pain so I haven't been walking as much as I would like to. Now, it's your turn! Tell us about YOU!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Oh I wish I would have known, I would have given you the tip to rinse them after you skin them, yeah skinning them can be kind of a pain! That serving size, yeah that's a little small. Sorry it was a lot of work but glad you liked it! I'm glad your family is okay in FL. Great goals!

@Ftofit Okay let's tell @broncobuddee to change your weigh-in day to Friday...can you assist, @broncobuddee?

@happysquidmuffin You know that is why I have Wonder Woman as my profile pic, it does cut down on those requests a bit. Great goals for the challenge!

@19shmoo69 LOL...you have such a good sense of humor!

@Katmary71 That's true! Yes, I recommended Under the Whispering Door. Oh dear, that last book sounds intense! I'm so glad you set boundaries, they are so important and sometimes hard to set. Brava! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear friend! That sucks about TJs fall stuff. I went last night and they had a good amount of things, they must have just restocked. I'm glad you are happier this year, you deserve it. I hope your bday celebration is fun.

@shaunarlr83 Wow, you did fantastic at your Sept goals! Congratulations, well done! :D

@Cornanda Congrats on the loss! Woo hoo!

@TeresaW1020 I hope you have a better week and that you can go on your anniversary trip worry-free.

Hi all. I had a busy day yesterday, got in over 9,300 steps walking around. Today, I'm getting my hair done and that's about it.

My Halloween Challenge goals report for yesterday:
    1) track 90% of what goes in my piehole every day - ✔
    2) drink 50 oz of water each day - ❌

My phrase for the year: "Something needs to change…so I will take no crap and eat no crap!"

    Hi Team,
I'm Kathryn, 62 years old with multiple heath issues. It's always something. My day's are spent managing my health and medications. The root of my health problems is Rheumatoid Arthritis, I have multiple comorbidities from that. Unlike Osteoarthritis it is an autoimmune disease. I take a very strong immunosuppressant drug. I avoid being around other people to avoid getting Covid. My new health insurance went into effect today, it will be challenging at first but save us a ton of money. I switched to Scan Prime, a Medicare Advantage plan.

I had gained 100 pounds over the years topping out at 245. I lost 70 pounds in a year, I'm currently really close to my goal weight of 140 I joined F2F for the support and accountability, it helps to keep me motivated and on track. This is a great team and I'm very happy to be here even if I don't post that often.

This month I will use the habit tracker again. I had a bad day yesterday and ate 100 calories over budget, I'm not going to stress over it. Just start over again today.

    October Goals
    3000 Steps per Day
6 Cups of Water / Plain Tea
Get rid of 1 item a day
    Track All Food Daily
    Brush my Cats Daily

@Cornanda I use the PicCollage app, I have the free version which has plenty of options and just find images online. It’s a lot of copy and pasting but it keeps me entertained and accountable ☺️

@Cornanda - Great loss!!! Also I forgot in my reply but I have the “Fonts for you” app it combines with your keyboard and has different fonts, I did have to pay a one time fee for it though bc it only gave like 3 fonts!

@TeresaW1020 - I hope y’all have an amazing time. We did Gatlinburg for our 10 year anniversary! That was the year I hit my ultimate goal weight!! Really really loved it, they were already putting up Christmas light the last week of October, really made me want to go back at Christmastime!!!

@trooworld - Thanks lady!!! Great job getting those steps in and I hope your new hair makes you feel fabulous!!! 😉

@FushiaKat - I hate that you and so many others deal with health issues daily! Hugs! I hope this new insurance is great for you!! Love your goals and why have I never thought of getting rid of stuff as a goal before!? Love it!

I had a decent day 1! Got up early and did my workout and stuff, relaxed most of the day and had to get up and move to finish out my step goal. Eating was so great and then I started having bad cravings. Decided to splurge on some ice cream since I did so well last week! 😂 Noticed MFP really did take away our barcode scanner if we aren’t paid members ☹️ I’m not loving this. We’re supposed to be heading on to Texas but hubby is dragging his feet so I guess I’ll get some sleep soon.

Hi everyone. Started this early this morning but never finished: I’m Tam, this is my second month here and it has made such a huge difference to my success and focus. I am 43 from Tassie Australia, husband, 3 kids (11-15), and a dog 😊.

Like most I’ve struggled with weight forever and have been up and down in both healthy and unhealthy ways. As of last weigh in I am the lowest I’ve been in years and feeling really good.

October goals are going to be a little light for me because I want to be realistic on my trip away. I do still want to be accountable though so will try to focus and at least be mindful. Might actually split the month into two fortnights regarding personal goals because the first two will be quite restricted but the second two I hope to get serious again.

So for 1-15 Oct I will have:
    - Min 2ltrs water each day
    - Some kind of exercise every day
    - Daily journal/reflecting on the day

That’s it for now but will try to catch up later on.

Hi I m mishti .I joined this group a month ago .It helped me a lot to stay consistent.Everybody is very supporting here.I lost 2.3lb in September and my goal for October is to lose 5lbs.There are so many festivals in this month so It would be challenging but i will try my best.I am focusing on overall wellness and improvement. I want to improve my physical and mental health along with reaching my other goals.I have developed many good habits in last three months and for the remaining year i will try to follow them and stay on track.anxiety and constant worry about the future is one of the biggest problem with me.i will try to accept everything in my life and live each moment fully by only focusing on what i can control.everything could be better if i make the correct choices whether it is about what i eat or how i spend my time or what i think.

    October goals:
1)eating a meal mindfully every day
    2)exercise 30 minutes daily
    3)meditation for 15 minutes
    4)time management

Good luck to all.i wish everyone does well this month and reach their goal.

@DrewsAnna We will enlist the help of @BroncoBuddee to change your weigh-in day to Thursday, Bronco, can you assist, please?

@FushiaKat Today is definitely a new day. Great goals.

@shaunarlr83 Thank you! You know, funny about the hair, my hairdresser says to me yesterday, "Do you want to start growing the grays in?" and I immediately thought NOOOOO, but then I thought about how I am beginning to get gray stray hairs in my eyebrows and I thought better of No. I agreed for the next time to let it go gray. Sad, but true lol. It's the only thing that really gives away my age besides my semi-saggy neck. Oh well, age gracefully, right? Yeah, I heard about the barcode scanner being taken away, that's a bummer.

@Tamevv That's good you are being realistic about your goals. Great goals.

@Ftofit Congrats on your success so far! Those are great goals, good luck!

Hi all. I had an okay day yesterday. I didn't get enough water in but I'll work on that today. I put up all of my Halloween decorations yesterday and ordered a few more. It looks very fallish in my condo now!

My Halloween Challenge goals report for yesterday:
    1) track 90% of what I eat every day - ✔
    2) drink 50 oz of water each day - ❌

    Hi, I’m Alicia aka HappySquidMuffin.
I’m 35 and have a husband, 2 kids 3 & 5yo, 2 cats, and a little garter snake. I live in Idaho, USA. Previous weight ~170, current 138. I’m only 5’3. Goal: 125. I like to walk/run in the mornings outside but it’s almost too cold to do that now. I’m loosely tracking calories atm, but it would be nice to see 135 this month.

    My October goals:
    1. 11K steps/day avg ✔️
    2. No after-dinner sugar binges! ❌
    3. Don't let myself get thangry*! ✔️
    *Thirsty-angry aka dehydrated

Hi everyone, my name is Laurel. I am 64 years old and live in Alberta. I am a mom of 5: 4 adult kids all fully launched, one fur baby who is super active and helps me get in my daily exercise and I have two amazing grand kiddos ♥️.
I had been on a weight loss journey for what feels like forever. I finally reached goal May 8, 2022! I am just beginning my journey in maintenance, a whole other learning curve but very exciting!
Throughout this journey I have discovered that I absolutely love working out at the gym, spin classes are my favourite but I do get in a couple of weight classes a week too! I typically work out at the gym three days a week, the other days I try to maintain at least 10,000 steps and with my little pup that usually isn’t an issue lol.
It was a very busy summer, then my son‘s wedding was in August so the month was full of lots of family and friends staying with me. I wasn’t as structured as I usually am and I have had a bit of a crazy fall so I am a couple of pounds outside of my range. The month of October is going to be dedicated to getting back on range and getting back on track. Maintenance is definitely a learning curve :-) :-)

    Hey Y'all,

I'm Anna, I am married and have 4 adult children and 11 grand beauties. I'm 54 yrs old and have lived most of my life in Wa state. I like to do a lot of "sitting down" things like crochet, reading and journaling.

I joined this group about a week ago and so far I'm really liking and really looking forward to being part of the "family" I see here. I like being able to walk my best buddy (black lab mix) and workout. Due to health problems I gained about 15 lbs and I've been struggling to get back on track. I think for about a month now we've been getting a lot of smoke from wildfires (off & on) which makes it hard for me to actually exercise.

    October goals:

    ✔ Workout/walk at least 20 min 5 days a week
✔ Use resistance bands 3 times a week
    ✔10,000 steps 6 days a week
✔ Eat at least 2 veggies everyday

@Tamevv thank you for helping me find the October thread.

@Shaunalr83 thank you for giving me the link to the October thread.

@jessicakrall8 Journaling is a great challenge, I love it.

@BroncoBuddee thank you for changing my weigh in day to Thursday

If anyone watches football "Happy football Sunday"

One of my grand beauties turned 18 the other day and today is his birthday cookout. I'm going to try and be mindful...

    Y'all have a great day!!!

@Tamevv - Great goals Tam! Very smart breaking it up in 2 parts! I may have missed where you’re heading, I hope you have a great time! Great job on 2nd place last month!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@Ftofit - great job coming so far. Having a positive mindset gets me through the day! I hope you find all your looking for throughout the rest of the year! Keep pushing forward!!
    Great goals!

@trooworld - I noticed my first gray hair at 20 years old. I always knew I was destined to lose my dark brown color. My mom has been dyeing her grays for as long as I can remember, all of her family has gray and all of my dads family is completely white 😂 I used to highlight my hair in the summer and go back natural color in winter, eventually I had to keep the highlights year round to help camouflage the grays now I’m in a slow transition to all blonde. I’m not even 40 yet and yes I feel the same way, it’s the only age giveaway but I’ll be like Betty White and have blonde hair for as long as I can 🤣

@laurelfit57 - nice loss, I’m looking forward to seeing how you manage maintenance, when I hit goal weight I maintained for 6 months and then it all went very quickly in the other direction.

@DrewsAnna - you’re welcome!!! Looking forward to having you here this month!!

Going to be a lazy day for me besides taking the longest routes possible to the restrooms so that I get my steps in. I’ve already gotten my workout and daily challenge done, since I binged on ice cream late last night I’m making myself hold out the 15 hours before eating again. Fruits and veggies today since tomorrow is my weigh in!! Hubby is still dragging his feet about leaving, we are out of the room but just sitting in the truck so I’ll probably find a movie to watch and take a nap. I’m sure he will drive straight through once he decides to go.

I’m going to update this at the end of each week since I only had one daily goal…..Sundays always seem like the end of the week to me 😉

    Count Down to Halloween
    Commitment...

1). 10,000 steps every single day ✅ Yesterday was done and todays seems very doable.
2). Hike at least 5 times this month - gonna have to find a place soon 😬
3). Stay consistent with the 4 BB workouts each week ✅ Yes and Yes, I’m going to attempt a workout everyday until I catch up with my coach!

I was a little worried about my way in this morning, I did two classes at the gym yesterday and that usually puts me up, so I was kind of excited I have actually had a loss.
Things remain hectic around here, my daughter and son-in-law‘s house goes on the market tomorrow, so we will have done all we could and I am hoping my life will get back to normal :-).
@shaunarir83 I have been in maintenance for going on five months now, Thanks for the heads up on how your journey went, I will make sure to get things under control quickly!
I am absolutely pooped, I helped out at the garage sale today, Unfortunately there wasn’t much of a turn out. That’s OK, we got everything packed up for donations, so now my daughters garage is all done and put away as well. I am just sitting down to put my feet up and I will try to stay awake until nine🤣. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi team! Love reading about everyone each month, I'm so glad we do that both for the new and old members as I learn something new each month even from those of you I've known for a long time. I'm just dropping in real quick, I went out to eat with my family for my birthday and got home a little late. There was a little panic because I was taking a nap when they tried to make reservations at the place I chose and they're closed on Sundays but we found another Mexican place my SIL knew of with a back patio that was good. Hung out at my brother's house for awhile then came back here. I have my yearly mums which I always cringe when I see because I get them every year and all but earlier this year when I got them from my nephews from Mother's Day I manage to kill them right away and feel terrible. Hopefully I've learned the shadier spot in the yard is best for them, we'll see in a couple weeks! Not much else going on, need to listen to my calm music and head to bed, have a great week and October everyone!

    Good morning!

My name is Meg. I’m 40 with 2 kids. Full time teacher. I’ve had a phenomenal September, dropped 11 pounds over the month. This past weekend I was on a retreat with amazing food and free flowing wine. I had a temporary bump on the scale but I know it’s going to be back down in the next couple days so I look forward to continuing the great momentum.

My big struggle is snacking. I more or less kicked that habit last month so I’m determined not to let this one weekend derail my good habits.

Time to get my family out of bed! Have a great day everyone!

Woo hoo team! We got 3rd place for September! Congrats to the whole team. @Cornanda @Tamevv @leonadixon @megnolia82 @shaunarlr83 Congrats on making it onto the leaderboard! And 4 weeks in the green consistency award goes to @megnolia82, @Ftofit, @Tamevv way to go!

@happysquidmuffin Congrats on your 30 lbs down! WTG!

@shaunarlr83 20 lbs down, woo hoo congrats!

@DrewsAnna We sometimes deal with wildfires down here in Southern California, I know what you mean about it being hard to exercise in that smoke/ashes flying. I hope it calms down soon. I hope you had fun at the birthday cookout.

@shaunarlr83 Wow, that is young! Going blonde is a great idea to hide the grays. The problem with my current dye plan is that I get it dyed a dark purple and my gray roots area look kind of pink and that's not good lol. So, all-natural it is! I hope you have a safe trip out of town. Great job with your goals!

@megnolia82 That sounds really fun and relaxing!

    @laurelfit57 Congrats on the loss!

@Katmary71 I am glad you were able to find a place to go after your preferred choice was closed. I hope your mums survive longer this year. :)

@gemwolf110 Good to have you here! Congrats on the loss!

Hi all. We had a birthday celebratory brunch yesterday for myself and my MIL. I ate reasonable portions of the food but I just couldn't make my water goal. I will definitely hit it today as I do better at work with my water. I did track 90% of what went into my mouth so that's good. Have a great day!

My Halloween Challenge goals report for yesterday:
    1) track 90% of what I eat every day - ✔
    2) drink 50 oz of water each day - ❌
