Shape Shifters Team Chat - NOVEMBER 2023

Finished my week covering for my colleague at work...overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10 score. I made a few mistakes, but was able to fix most of them, with a few having to be escalated to the team in the head office. I received positive feedback from nearly everyone I interacted with during the week. There were a few system issues outside of my control and I will continue to discuss those with the escalation team and my colleague on Monday when she returns. It was definitely a learning experience.
I am feeling it today and slept like the dead last night. Will be resting all weekend. Going to take a walk now and do some more around the house. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Shape Shifters. The past couple of days have been a bit challenging. On Wednesday I had a day free of tracking and eating whatever I wanted. I wanted a little break, so this was planned. I intended to be back to my normal way of eating on Thursday, but I failed really hard. I just didn't care and wanted to eat more junk.
My Friday didn't have the best start. I had 4 nightmares which didn't make for a restful sleep. I feel like sleep is a really underestimated / under talked about aspect of weight loss. For me sleep has a big impact on discipline, hunger and the ability to make good choices. I was determined to have a calorie deficit again on Friday, but I ended up eating cookies for breakfast at 8:30. Thankfully they were my last 4! Then I went to the store and made overall pretty good choices, but I also bought two muffins. I put all the food in MFP before eating and realised that one muffin fit in my day, but not two. After a little bit of a struggle, I threw the second one away. I was all out of food to eat by 13:00.
At one point in the afternoon I was on my phone, downloaded the pizza app, put things in the basket and went to the check out to put in my address ~ but the one thing I didn't do was press order! Honestly, that was a bit of a miracle because my brain pretty much never wins that fight when I am at that point. So while my food wasn't very pretty, I did end up with good calories (around 1379) for Friday and I was very happy with that when I stepped on the scale Saturday morning.
I got some really good sleep and was completely back on track again for Saturday. I am pretty happy that I didn't get derailed too much, but I really don't like how much of a struggle it was. Instead of the 'no tracking & eat whatever I want' approach, I plan to limit my food to 2200 calories when I feel like I need a break. That way I will have to keep tracking while still having plenty of room to eat foods I like that are often hard or impossible to fit in on high deficit days. I will also limit those days to once every 2-3 weeks. I think that is going to be a lot better.
I got the new jackets for Tinus. I went with fleece fabric this time, so they are very thick. The royal tartan was the first jacket I ever got for him, he looks really nice in that one and I think the creme one will also be good. To be fair though, Tinus is always cute. I got two new brushes because the groomer said that the comb I had was bad because it removes wooly hair. I assume she knows what she is talking about (though I am pretty sure the vet and the groomer I had before also did it that way so I didn't know it was bad) so I will try something else. I haven't really been up to much. The weather is still wet and windy, so no walks. I am having fun with the calisthenics routine though. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. Happy Sunday everyone

I couldn’t agree more with what you said about sleep quality and weight management. So true! Since I hit menopause, my sleep has been horrible. I wake up from very realistic dreams (some frightening, some not) several times a night. It really messes with your goals and it’s hard to stay focused the following day. Give yourself some grace❤️
And those jackets are adorable!!!4 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Not a very interesting day here. More rain, more wind. I was out of wet catfood again for the hedgehogs so I went to the store to get some more. I started a new puzzle, but I haven't really sat down with it yet, only the edge is done. I am not really into it, but it is only 500 pieces so I plan to work on it today. Happy Monday everyone

Hi, folks! Hope you're doing well. Having some water weight flux right now, so I have a feeling next week is not going to look as impressive as this week My naughty cat Ernie says "hi". Other cat is bird watching. Got to get back to work, but wanted to check in and say hello. *waves from Holly Springs*4 -

Hello Shape Shifters! Welcome to all the new members! Seasoned members and newcomers all seem to be doing well, learning, and making positive adjustments.
I’m sore today after rowing two races at the Occoquan River in northern Virginia: https://www.novaparks.com/parks/sandy-run-regional-park. We won first place in our age group so that was a nice surprise!
Our team is more of a social group that rows so we only enter one or two races per year as a culmination to our season. This race venue is only a 30-minute drive from my house so it’s convenient and fun. Nine of us carpooled there! I also filled in with another group that included two people rowing for the first time, and our “Masters” (old people) mixed boat of men and women placed 8 out of 17 boats — respectable. I volunteered between races, helping the other crews launch from the dock without getting in each other’s way.
Later in the evening, I had a soccer game. Many of our team members were traveling this weekend and couldn’t play so we only had 10 people playing the whole 90 minutes while the other team had 11 players and a few subs. I was so tired but we won the close match 1-0.
This was an unusually active weekend, with a personal trainer session on Saturday, in addition to rowing and soccer. I hope I’ve worked off my Halloween candy 😅 and can finally see a loss this week, after many weeks of incremental gains.
Best wishes, everyone!5 -

I've not been as motivated to work out on my own lately, other than walking, but got on the rowing machine today for 30mins and felt so much better after. This weekend I coached hockey for an hour and then had my own game. My legs are sore today!
@jlswensen and @lianatherunner Hope you enjoyed your running races!
@cyncia85 way to go jogging for 20mins!
@izzyred9400 5 weeks in the green is fantastic and very motivating to hear about!
@PatriceFitnessPal Congratulations on winning your regatta! It looks like a nice course. I used to love racing in the fall head races.

I ordered a wheat mill and a bag of local un-milled wheat (boweavil may or may not be included...) I'm going to experiment with baking bread from scratch. Should be really interesting. I love to bake in the winter
@PatriceFitnessPal - Woot! Good job on the rowing. That sounds like a lot of fun.4
