@LaurieWrobo Happy birthday! I have a whole birthday ritual, and I always have to have my Starbucks drink!5

@Itakimasu7 I tried to add you, too and I got an error message saying something about not having a network connection. Weird!
For my first marathon I used Hal Higdon's novice plan, and I mostly stuck to it until I hurt my foot towards the end. My marathon went fine, but I took more time off.
This year, I was basically following a mish-mash of Hal Higdon and the Run Coach app, but I had a lot of life hiccups (nothing major!) and my training got thrown off a lot. I think that last year I was more motivated because I wasn't sure I could do it. I was really hoping to improve my performance, so I guess I will have to do it again next year 🤣
My marathon is November 26, so you all will see my ridiculous step count! Last year, I had over 56,000 steps in a day!
That's so cool that you did Beat the Blerch! I don't drive so it's hard for me to get there, but I did the 10k in September. I have been lost during races more than once.5 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. It took me 1,5 hours to fall asleep, and I missed my 8 hour sleep goal by 6 minutes, boo! I was thinking about food, specifically protein. I have a renpho smart scale, and my protein % is only 13,2 which is inadequate in the app. I believe it should be closer to 15-16%. I am not really sure I can even change that with my food. My water % has always been super low (40% while normal is between 45-60) and that is while drinking 3.5 to 4.5 liters a day. I am also not very bothered with macros in general, but when it comes to weight loss, I think protein is the most important and I have always struggled with it as a mostly vegan and non cooking person. Most days I get around 60 grams. So anyway, I was brainstorming in bed which kept me awake. In the morning I went to the grocery store and bought 8 different types of protein bars. My 'demands' for the bars were around 200 calories, not much over 2 euros each and at least 15 grams of protein per bar. Surely one of them will be tasty!
Then I spent a while in the food journal of MFP and I wrote down 8 different combinations of daily foods that total at least 75 grams of protein a day and a max of 1400 calories. I thought that was really useful to have on paper just to get an idea of what is possible. Some days have cookies, chocolate, a croissant, a burrito, my favourite protein crisps. It all looks really nice! I don't have any problems with hunger on the 60 grams of protein, but I think more is better. They say 0,8 grams per every kilo of weight, which would put me at 86 grams daily. Anyway, I guess we will see if it makes a different in the app and for me.
I finished up moving stuff around in the living room, threw out 3 plants, repotted one to keep and also I kept my cactus. I vacuumed downstairs and I feel much happier with the space now. My food choices were a little questionable (two donuts, two croissants) but my calories were still alright so I didn't mind. Often on Wednesday I go a little crazy because I just had my weigh in for the group, funny how the brain works. This time it was totally fine and I didn't gain 3 pounds overnight which is a win! Happy Thursday everyone

Steps were low - it was raining, really heavy at times so no walk, I didn't feel like doing anything on my lunch hour then after work me and my husband went out for dinner to Texas Roadhouse - even though we're gluten free we split a cinnamon warm roll and fried pickles which was free for my birthday
I did go to my early morning slow flow yoga class at the studio - spent some time meditating in gratitude for all the abundance and blessings and friends I have
Thank you all for wishing me a happy birthday- 56 yrs young3 -
Happy Birthday @LaurieWrobo !!!!3

@lianatherunner - I’m impressed by your training and persistence! I’ve never entered a marathon, but sometimes I think about training for one. I’ve finished a couple 10 mile races, and one half marathon, which felt manageable — but, I can’t imagine doubling the distance! I’ll continue to admire our Shape Shifter runners and walkers from the sidelines. One of these days, I hope to add more walking and running to my routine. Thanks for the inspiration!
@Pupowl - Thanks for sharing your protein planning. I need to increase my protein intake, too. Whenever I try to add more protein, it seems to add to my fat and calories so I need to keep experimenting. Some of the fat is ‘healthy,’ like my morning egg. I was also trying to increase my fiber so I bought avocados and those also add healthy fat but, putting my macros off balance. I usually review the data weekly, instead of daily, because the macros even out better over that time.
I’m adding another’Happy Birthday!’ to the chorus of well-wishes, @LaurieWrobo. I’m glad you and your husband took time to celebrate and enjoyed dinner together! 🎉🎉5 -

My goal is to sustain my weight between 125 and 130 pounds. So, I’ve really veered off course. I didn’t want to limit my calories too much while preparing for our rowing race but, now that the season is over, I’m going to focus more on tracking calories.

I woke up to snow on the ground this morning! I had to dig out my winter boots for my morning dog walk. Pups loved the snow; she was bounding around with her nose in it the entire walk.

@LaurieWrobo Happy Birthday 🎂 I hope you enjoyed your day.
Your new kitty looks soo cute 😍
@Pupowl I am always trying to eat more protein,I do find that if I've had plenty I definitely feel less hungry in between meals.I try & eat greek yoghurt & cottage cheese but you have to read the labels as some are high in sugar.2 -
Aegon is adorable, @LaurieWrobo!
Gorgeous dress @SavageMrsMoose! I love the color, too! I was trying to think of a way to rework some of the fun ‘skirt’ section into a fancy wrap for your shoulders or accent to a dress, but I’m not creative enough. I remember you have a good sense of style from your trip photo so I know you’ll find something beautiful. 💃2 -
Thursday steps 3119.
I'm with my love. I can't wait for Saturday as it's veterans day here in the states. We're going for Chinese food probably Saturday as well as going to the vfw post as Anthony will be my guest.3 -

What a cute little tender foot!!! So sweet! CONGRATS on your new fur baby!

Aww fur baby photos! Aragon is so cute! awww - 10 weeks = a handful. Looks like my tabby girl Hemi. Her coat is a little thin and she's been cold / sleeping on the heating register - she needs a cold weather gear like Tinus or Armygirlarmyof1's dogo!
@Armygirlarmyof1 - what's your babies name? They're setup for fall!
My long hair calico keeps eating random stuff like splinters, my yoga mat and mystery crud. She's grade A Extra Fancy -- but her appetite is down home. The little tabby cat brings me her toy mouse every morning. She proud walks it over to me and lays it down at my feet. Love pets, they sure do spice up life.

Good morning Shape Shifters. Nothing going on here. I tested the first protein bar (cookies and cream) and it was very tasty. I was also feeling very full the whole day and almost forgot to eat my salad. Not sure if that is protein related or just my brain playing tricks because I know protein helps with feeling full. Either way, it wasn't a bad thing. Tinus wanted on my lap half of the day, so I didn't really do much besides work on a puzzle a bit. Happy Friday everyone

Good morning everyone!
I really enjoy hearing about and seeing photos everyone’s cats. I grew up with cats but now have a dog so I’m living vicariously through your photos.
Update on my mother of the bride dress shopping- I found a dress I really like and the are bringing in to the US for me from England. It’s by a British designer, Jenny Packham, that Kate Middleton favors, so I feel like a princess. The samples they had were all size 4 (US size) and while they didn’t fit, I could get them on my body to get an idea - something I couldn’t have done 18 months ago when I joined this group. Thank you to everyone for your support.
My daughter is coming into town today- the courts are closed for Veterans Day- so I’ll try to remember to get her to take a photo.

I spiraled there for a bit, letting myself eat junk to cope with stress and personal issues, and exercising less. I'm getting back to my good habits, but have a lot of ground to make up. I want to get back to under 185 by the end of the year, with a goal still of 175 next year.6 -

I feel like I'm starting to get back on track with nutrition, activity and sleep after feeling thrown off by the triggers of Halloween candy and then the time change.
This morning I got an upper body + abs weights session in, a dog walk and then I threw together a stew recipe into the slow cooker for later tonight. Tonight and tomorrow I'll be coaching hockey, both of which will be guaranteed workouts.
Have a good weekend!
