Sign me up again please for the step challenge; 10,000 steps/day.
My favorite places to walk are: 1) an occasional Sierra Club hike, 2) a trail near my gym, 3) three parks near my house.

Hi my name is Krystal, my favorite place to walk is my treadmill watching a show. I know it’s not very interesting but it does get the job done. There’s not a whole lot of places to walk nearby where I live .. unless I drive out to get to them.
Step goal: 10k
I literally just bumped it up because I already hit my old goal of 8k by 10am this morning. So I thought maybe I should push my limits a little bit6 -
A little about me, I’m 39 years old and a Florida native. Been with my husband for 22 years(married for 16 years) and mother to an 18 year old daughter (my little fire cracker 🩷🥰). I love spending time with the fam doing boring day-to-day things together. We love hanging out with our extended family and are always coming up with ways to spend time together(which presents a whole lot of dieting land mines to navigate!!) I also like to watch movies or engulf myself in a good tv show(right now it’s Walking Dead ..I never watched it when it originally aired) I’ve brought my love for Streaming Tv into my workout routine. It gives me a nice incentive to keep going on my treadmill Gotta see which Real Housewife is going to be mad at the other for forgetting their birthday! 😂
I’ve signed up for this challenge and am heavily into Stridekick stepping challenges right now. I’ve also been pretty consistent with sticking to my M-W-F workout group a few seniors started at my Planet Fitness gym. We use the 30 minute room and after 3 months I can finally say I’m a PART of the group now.
My weightloss journey
I was 213lbs at my heaviest when I had breast reduction surgery in 2016. I was pulling my back out and becoming immobile way too often (I’d be out of commission for days on end and it was happening every few months) the surgery helped with some of my back issues and in turn made it easier for me to work out. I mentally started connecting my weight loss with “not being immobile” and that has been my greatest “why” I ever discovered about myself. That’s when I started learning about Keto and learned different and creative ways to cook and eat without being so reliant on carbs. In 2018 I actually started using the calorie counter feature in MFP and found the Community . I was a part of a Biggest Loser Challenge that was very similar to this one, only it was ran by one person and that person eventually stopped running it. But in that group.. man I was such a beast at losing weight. I went from 180 to 145 But when that challenge stopped, I stopped . And so .. you can imagine how elated I was to find you all!
I’m 177lb now. Now it’s timeto get back to where I need to be which is around the 145-150 lbs mark5 -

Welcome! to the new Shape Shifter team members, and welcome back to anyone reconnecting to the group. It’s a new month, with a clean slate for all of us!
My name is Patrice. I’m a 57 year old woman, living in northern Virginia, close to Washington, DC in the USA. I was always active growing up, and maintained a fairly consistent weight. I definitely gained weight during times of stress, but I was usually able to correct the gains by adding more exercise.
Eventually, life got busier and more stressful due to work, children, additional studies, and community involvement); and, I gradually gained weight over time. So, in December 2019, I started working with a nutritionist, who recommended MFP as a place to log my food intake so she could see the meals I was eating and check my macro-nutrition balance of carbs, fat, and protein. I weighed 168 when I started.
In the beginning, I hardly used the app to track my meals and exercise, but the nutritionist gave me some recommendations (e.g., helpful food substitutions), and I became more aware of the things I needed to improve, such as reigning in portion sizes, limiting late-evening snacking, eating a healthy snack before cooking dinner to prevent grazing, etc.). My package of 8 sessions ended but I continued using MFP and built better tracking habits. I started participating in the general community forums in April 2020, and lost about 35 pounds by April 2021. At that point, I was in the ‘normal’ BMI range (at ~5’3”) and felt much better.
I joined the F2F group in May 2021 to motivate me to reach my goal weight of 125 (~midpoint of a normal BMI), which I achieved in August or early September 2021. I maintained my target range of 125-130 for about a year and then my weight gradually increased while I was focusing on other areas of my life that I want to improve. I’m back at the high end of the BMI and have about 15 pounds to lose to reach my goal (again). I am working to build daily nutrition and movement habits to maintain my optimal weight. I’d like to build muscle, increase my core strength and overall flexibility, and improve my balance.
I like to row on the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers when the weather is warm. I also play soccer once or twice a week, and my husband and I share a 30-minute personal trainer appointment at our local YMCA twice a week. I need to eat healthier meals and make other nutrition improvements but, generally, I’m pleased with my progress — Practice makes … better! Best wishes to everyone as we start our March together.5 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was a good day. I went on my walk in the morning and figured out the last little loop I wanted to add to the walk. It is so much fun now. I think the first version of this walk was only about an hour long, but I kept wanted to explore and try out new trails. It is now a 2 hour walk with lots of small forest paths and I also found a deep ditch with water yesterday. Unfortunately, the water is really low so I am pretty sure it will be dry in summer. I did my gym rings in the afternoon which I am still enjoying and I washed Tinus' blankets.long walk, good sleep & food, gym ringsHappy Monday everyone

Good morning ShapeShifters! I would like to sign up this month for the step challenge. I love to go for evening walks with my daughter and catch up on our days. When the weather is too cold I can go on the treadmill, but I find it very boring. I do have audible so I'll try listening to a good book and see if that helps with the boredom lol
I would like my daily goal to be 10,000 steps per day

Hey everyone, my name is Ryan (username is because I'm a fan of the Chicago Bears, an American football team). I'm 36 and have two kids (7 year old girl, 4 year old boy) with my wife. We've come back to Houston after spending 3 years in the Bay Area in California, but are both from the Midwest.
I've used MFP for over 10 years, but joined this group a few years ago when I decided to get serious about losing weight I put on when the kids were born. I also really like weightlifting, but was very off and on with it until I hired an online coach about 18 months ago. He keeps me focused, accountable, and changes my programming as needed when I add a new goal or hobby, like when I wanted to join a week-long bike ride across my home state of Iowa last year.
Right now my weight loss goal is to drop to 180 lbs, but slow and steady as I make strength gains. My strength goals since I started working with a coach have been to hit 5 reps of each of the following: 100 lb overhead press, 200lb bench press, 300lb squat, and 400lb deadlift. I've hit the overhead press goal, and the bench and squat goals are only 20 pounds away, but the deadlift goal is as till about 70 pounds away.
I'm happy to be on this team and enjoy the accountability while hearing what everyone else is working towards.8 -

Hi everyone, I'm Casandra and I live in Southwestern Ontario Canada. I'm newly 41 (yesterday, March 3rd was my birthday). 40 was a rough year, I got a stress fracture in my heel in July and I'm still recovering from the injury. I also broke the ring finger on my non-dominate hand early in January this year. The fracture is mostly healed but I still can't bend or straighten the finger. I'm going to physio regularly and doing all the exercises, unfortunately it looks like more finger surgery is in my future.
I'm hoping 41 will involve less serious injuries. I've regained most of the weight I lost last year and will work on getting back down.
Ultimately I would like to get to 190lbs. I am 5'11 and feel pretty good around 190-200lb. My highest weight was almost 20 years ago at 270lbs.6 -

~ yesterday was a great day in the world of accomplishing goals. All the stars were aligned.. I walked a bunch on my treadmill. I was also paying close attention to the keto macros I was eating all day. Like just because you CAN add a tablespoon of butter doesn’t mean you have to. You can hit the perfect fat/protein/carbs percentage without a full serving.3 - Track / Under / 20min Exercise?

@CasandraW Happy birthday! I hope you had a nice day. I agree that your year sounded rough! From the picture of the break you shared, I thought it looked complicated. Another surgery wouldn't be fun, but hopefully you will be able to get full use of your finger after that at least.

Monday ~ March 04
Good morning Shape Shifters. I had a very busy Monday! It started, as usual, with a lovely walk. It was extremely foggy which I enjoyed a lot. I did all the extra trails and loops and walked 118 minutes total. Because I wake up earlier and it gets light earlier, I was already outside at 7:20 so it was still pretty quiet. When I got home I hopped on the bike to go to the store. I saw they had the vegan lasagne on sale this week, so I decided to look for it again. And yes, they actually had it! I bought 8 of the 16 they had in stock. I could have grabbed more since they don't expire for another 3 weeks, but that felt a bit rude, lol. I might check again on Saturday if they have any left because not having to cook is really nice.
After the store, I had a shower, sat down with some tea and caught up on the group here. Then it was already time to leave again, this time to the vet with Tinus. He got his painkiller shot and I asked her to look at his tail. I found a little bump a while back, but she said it just looked like an innocent wart and that it wasn't a problem. I will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't change or get bigger. I finally had my breakfast at 11:40 so I was pretty hungry at that point. In the afternoon I got the package with the sportshirts. I am very happy to report they are a winner. Nice and loose fit, thin but not see through material and very comfortable. I think they will work great in the summer on walks, or if it is too hot, to bike in. I am very glad to have that sorted out. The rest of the day wasn't very interesting. The lasagne was even nicer than I remembered, I had a relaxing evening and went to bed early and read a lot.looong walk, good sleep & food, sportshirts are awesomeHappy Tuesday everyone

The daily card:Health helps us to lead a strong and vibrant life. There is a link between physical health and mental health. Picture yourself healthy. What does this look like? Write down the actions you need to take in order to achieve this healhier life, and therefore a healthier mind. Make the statements positive, rather than the things you will refrain from doing. You don't have to give up your favourite foods. Instead, treat yourself to your favourite dessert once a week.3

Good Morning!
My daughter joined her school's rugby team, she has never played before but she used to play volleyball for many years and was missing sports. 6 am workouts at the school gym started today lol, I'm very proud of her for trying something new in her senior year as she will graduate this year.
She is going to University in the fall taking her Bachelor in Mathematics. My son is in College right now taking his first year as an Electrician apprentice, on his way to becoming a Journeyman Electrician!
I'm very close to my children and I'm their number one cheerleader! My daughter has inspired me to start working out as well.

Love the pictures! @Pupowl thank you for sharing! I’ll confess . I chose to preference the Shapeshifters because,(well..other than gravitating to the name, #MarvelFan) I related to your posts. I’m a jigsaw puzzler and “dog person” converted to “Dog AND Cat-person! I’m just so smitten with my new-ish Siberian cat we named Henry. I must be taking pictures of him every week. Here’s a few..

Hi everyone! I was having issues with posting on my phone so here I am on my desktop very hopeful that it cooperates this time! It's also so much better to type on a computer than a phone, but I guess I'm old school.
A little back story, 13 years ago at 24 years old I had my first child and 9 months later joined MyFitnessPal and lost over 80 lbs. Second child came 22 months later and that time was more responsible with watching my diet and fitness during that pregnancy and only gained 30 lbs - got it right back off with ease. For the most part over 8 years I kept that weight off. Then 2019 rolls around and I became pregnant - yes, started all the way over! I gave birth in October of 2020 and was back to where I started after my first pregnancy at 195 lbs.
Over the past three years I have really struggled to get the remainder of the baby weight off. My lowest since she was born was 138, but I have yo yo ed so much - loose, gain, loose, gain. I was back to 160 lbs after a hospital visit the week after my 37th birthday back in December and then, the holidays. It's not really an excuse, but it is what it is!
So here I am, 13 days into consistently logging on to MFP, keeping track of my food diary, and exercising nearly every day! My current driving force is that I am getting married on June 12th. At my last weigh in, I was 149 and I hope to be at 130 by then. I feel like this number is doable, but I am noticing that the scale does not go down nearly as fast in my late 30s as it did in my early 20s. Imagine that!
As far as exercise goes, there is a woman I follow on YouTube named Paula B. (Paula B Fitness) She mainly does Podcasts, but she has SEVERAL great moderate exercises. They are actually intended for women in their 50s, but I don't care! She has one series that she did in 2022 that consists of 65 workouts. I set a goal for myself to complete all 65 workouts before the wedding. I have completed 14 in 13 days, so far! I am incredibly proud of myself for this. Since my 3rd was born, I have had a difficult time staying consistent, and I finally feel like I am on track.
That's why I am so glad to have found a group like this, because over the years many of my MFP connections have fallen off, and I feel like it is so important to connect with others to stay motivated. So thanks for having me! I hope to be able to report a slightly lower number on my Sunday weigh in! I hope everyone has an excellent week!8 -

@FWSWCindy Happy to hear the card came at the right time! I don't resonate with all of them every day, but that's okay. Todays card was pretty fitting for our group.
@Krysless2 It's so cool to hear why your choose our group! I am a also a big fan of the name. At one point two of the smaller teams here merged, and Shape Shifters became our new team name. Your cat looks huge and beautiful. I love that he also has a common human name, same as my Tinus (it is a really old fashioned name and I just associate it with grandpas). I totally get you about all the picture taking. I still do it after almost 9 years, they are just too stinking cute.
@melissataylor1986 Thanks for writing an intro! I like Improved Health on youtube, which is for seniors/beginners and I am even younger than you, lol. If it works, it works. I found it really hard to find workouts that were actually beginner friendly when I just started my journey. Our weekly weigh ins for the group run from Sunday to Saturday, so your first official weigh in was the 3rd. Do you have a different weight than 149 for that or is it the same?1 -
