    Wednesday Check-in
I had a smooth morning (as planned- I wrote it out the prior night). Did my early wake time, lemon water, treadmill walk while studying, healthy & hearty warm breakfast. So far a great start.

Challenge: my hips are always problematic (stiff/achy), I'm incorporating mobility stretches after my treadmill walk, so I'm sure that should help, but these stretches often feel monotonous (boring).

@Pupowl - I absolutely love that you share those daily cards. They have such positive messages & insights.

Happy for the small loss, but honestly, I haven't been putting in any work. I am going through a major slump right now. I need to get back to the gym and start tracking my food again.

I had a lovely day today as my youngest son kindly took me out for lunch.A delayed Mother's Day treat. We went to an Italian restaurant & shared a starter & a pizza.I tried to resist a desert but ended up having a sticky toffee pudding.I was so stuffed I didn't have an evening meal so hopefully I didn't go too much over my calories.
@CasandraW I'm sorry you've had such bad news especially as you weren't expecting it after a routine test.I hope you get seen soon & get advice about treatment.Cancer is such a scary word & I can understand that you may not want to worry your kids until you know what you're dealing with.I hope you're able to feel positive & get the support you need. You know we're hear for you 🩷
And I keep forgetting to say welcome back to @Yukie_OP & welcome to all new members that have joined us recently.

    Good Morning ShapeShifters!
Does anybody have any recommendations for back stretches or back strength training videos etc? I have had a sore back for days now. It is spazzing up and painful. I have tried stretching my back, Voltaren cream, and soaking in a hot tub. All that helps but then the next day it starts with a cool trickle sensation on the one side of my back then it starts spazzing and aching. It's not pleasant at all. I have been to a chiropractor recently (last month) so I don't believe my back is out. Thanx for any help

    Steps: Mar 12= 9756
    Mar 13= 9550

@JenHul -- Sounds like a pinched nerve or something, ouch. Yoga with Adriene has a lot of back focused stretch videos. Also on Youtube I enjoy videos from HasFit and one of my favorites because he's funny and keeps me company, Sean Vigue.

I hope it's better soon - back problems are no fun. I have a few issues with mine for sure.

@JenHul My advise is to be very gentle if it's still spazzing. 8hh8t4w1kw29.png
This is a basic stretch that I did with my personal trainer when my back was causing me trouble. I know it says for sciatic, but it works for anything going up or down one side of the back

Well i went to see both my GP and got a late afternoon appt. for the ortho clinic
Took x-rays on my right knee - no cartilage left- bone rubbing on bone & arthritis really kicked in and caused the swelling- eventually I'll need a knee replacement, but in the meantime I was given a steroid shot - swelling went down a little bit so at least I can bend it more
I’m sorry to hear about your knee,
I’m glad it’s a bit better though. My parents both get steroid shots in their knees. They normally notice the most improvement after a week.

@Tomsgal1985 they have a separate challenge here every week. This week it’s this: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10911242/march-week-2-group-challenge-emotional-wellness-challenge#latest
I haven’t participated yet but I’ve been reading and inspiring🤗(I’m sure that’s not how we use that word..lol)

Im still learning about this whole thing, but I’m going to try to participate in whatever it is next week.

    The daily card:
The distractions of modern life pull our attention in a dozen different directions, so becoming distracted and losing track of mindfulness is natural. If you find yourself overwhelmed by distractions, asking the question, "Where is my mind now?" can be a very effective way to bring yourself back into present awareness. Try repeating this phrase to yourself when you find your attention bounding around, and over time, you will start to learn a great deal about where your mind tends to wander when left to its own devices.

~ I’m sure my unwanted guest(Tom) is still affecting me this morning. Always so inconsiderate of my feelings -this guy!
~ My husband came back from his conference in Cancun last night and ordered papa John’s because he said the food at the resort was down right terrible! He could only eat two pieces and then he went to bed with what seemed like food poisoning. Stomach pain, throwing up and a severe case of the chills. We know it wasn’t the pizza because food poisoning doesn’t typically hit you that quickly so something he ate there maybe. He’s fine today but slept in for the first time in a long time. And by sleeping in I mean 830am. He is the over achiever in this relationship! lol Anyway, I woke up contemplating my latest food and drink choices while he was away and they were not good! Sodium everywhere. I know I missed tracking something somewhere so I’m not truly considering everything. I did try to stick within the low carb perimeters and Im happy with myself for that. I work until 830pm and my husband usually makes sure we eat something for dinner, I’ll end up sneaking into the kitchen to add in some sort of air fried frozen vegetables or try to dictate the amount of bread or carbs he’s using. But while he was gone I was left to my own devices.
~ My daughter and sometimes her long time boyfriend would hang out with me which I jokingly called it babysitting. So I would have them get us take out most nights, Chick-fil-A(their Cobb salad is really good) and Wingstop(also yummy)
I stayed away from her fries (mostly) who really counts one or two forgotten-bottom-of-the-bag-fries??? Hmmmm?? Not I!!
~ My animals kept me company, but my beloved border collie mix is a creature of habit and instead of staying fixed under my feet at every moment during my work day and generally when I move about the house, this week she was every where but. She just hates change and I believe her to be pouting in her own way.
~ Second to last day of this challenge! Whaaat?? That was crazy quick!
~ My plan is to amp up my game today. Maybe a 24 hour fast would do me some good.. but wait that thought makes me cringe! (Maybe I won’t actually) but I will be laser focused! That I will guarantee.

~ Going up and up every day. Drank a lot of mich-ultras last night. Felt the need to “reward myself” after finishing a hard days work. I guess I probably should have cut myself off a little earlier than I did. Luckily I didn’t binge eat afterwords.
~ TOM started Tuesday so not sure if I should blame that solely for my struggles and lack of energy.. I am still working out but doing the bare minimum lately
