@Krysless2 I don't see where you signed up at the beginning of the month. WTG on your efforts this week, but let's wait until the first of August and remember to sign up right before the month begins, which will be on Sun, Aug 4th. See you then!

Hope everyone is having a good week, I've been keeping up with my workouts, but still struggling with my food intake. Been hot lately, so the kids and I have gone swimming a lot. Also been doing that alot because my son has surgery tomorrow and won't be able to swim for a couple weeks. I'm super over the hear though. I k ow it's mild compared to some places but I'm in Montana and the 95 to 105 temps sucks bad, lol

Hello, Shape Shifters! Here’s my weekly weigh-in report —

    Name: PatriceFitnessPal
    Weigh-in Day: Thursday
    PW: 148.5
    CW: 147.2

    SW: 168
    LtD: 20.8

Ultimately, my target weight range is 125-130 but my current goal is 140 pounds, which will bring me out of the ‘overweight’ BMI category into the top range of the ‘normal’ range. I know the BMI measure is not right for everyone but it feels accurate for me. So, it’s the easiest gauge for me to find a number that complements the way I feel. I also use my ‘jump rope test’ which sounds funny but helps me measure progress.

@PatriceFitnessPal I am glad the card yesterday was helpful! I feel the same as you about the bigger picture. I stopped checking the news online years ago because it really affected my mood in a bad way. I also sometimes think "it doesn't matter what I do, it doesn't make a difference anyway" but that isn't true either. It makes a difference to me and I do what makes me feel better, even though my contribution is small. And a lot of people doing something small, will make a difference.
Weight loss is hard. I don't think there are many people who lost weight, made it to goal and stayed there forever on their first try. I have bounced up and down a few times. Undoing all your bad habits takes a lot of practice and vigilance. It is really easy to beat yourself up over it, but I also try to put it into perspective. Gaining some weight back isn't the worst thing in the world, it doesn't make you a bad person. Other things in life are so much more important. And we also have the knowledge that we have done it before, so we know we can do it again! <3

Hello Shape Shifters. Got another morning walk in yesterday, surprise. I am glad that the walking seems to be turning into a habit again. I just really need to be out of the house in the morning otherwise there is a 99% chance I will go to the store and buy a lot of food. Having a good walk first thing, sets me up so much better for a great day. It is going to be really hot here tomorrow and Saturday, but I should still be fine going for a walk. I did hang up the shade cloths again to make sure it doesn't get too crazy inside the house. I also went to the grocery store to stock up on salads, I did some gaming and reading. Happy Thursday everyone <3

Here’s more about my NSV* jump rope progress measures and weight benchmarks:

At my highest weight, I could only jump rope a little because I worried about the motion putting too much pressure on my bladder and causing incontinence. I had to really concentrate on my kegel exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor while jumping 😂🤣😂. Now, I don’t have the bladder problem anymore but I still feel a lot of jiggle … that will dissipate as I get closer to 140. At 125-130, I can jump a lot longer because I’m lighter. I’m not trying to lose weight quickly because I want to maintain as much muscle as possible. One of my goals is to build strength and we always lose some muscle along with fat. So, I hope my slow but steady strategy pays off. 🤞

I hope everything goes well with your son’s surgery @angmarie28! That is really hot weather for Montana! 🥵 — swimming is a nice way to stay active while cooling down. I’d like to swim more because it also reduces the chance of workout injuries.

What are Shape Shifter team members doing to stay active during the heat. My pick-up soccer league was canceled due to thunderstorms last night so I was glad I rowed in the morning before it got too hot. I just barely managed to stay within my daily calorie range but I completed an ab workout with my son indoors which allowed me to end the day with 17 calories left over 😅 I know @frankwbrown is an avid swimmer (among many other activities!) What are you all doing to beat the heat?

    The daily card:
Just like the breath, our connection to the earth is always available to us. By simply paying attention to the feeling of our feet, we can literally ground ourselves at any time. Practice this in different circumstances and in different places so that when you're facing difficult moments in the future, you have an always-accessible tool to bring yourself back to the present moment.

@TashieB24 Just for your information, we only use one decimal for weigh ins, so I have rounded yours to 197.8
