@jessicakrall8 can you maybe put it to good use and count it for the mental health challenge? 😉 Hope you have a better tomorrow. 💕2 -

I have an IMPORTANT test tomorrow/Thursday. My graduation plan is dependent on this result. It is a science exam and my practice tests have been poor. They say that the practice tests are harder than the actual test. Good vibes please. I've been taking tests during July and now August. I passed 3 and have 2 more to go.
I also have a mud run on Sunday.
While I try to enjoy each day and not wish my life away, I'd really like for it to be next week so I know where I stand.
Also had a couple interviews. My application was viewed a second time by an organization. Again, would love to know where I stand - schedule me for an interview or at the bare minimum send the canned response and close out my application.
Good news, the scale is down.
Hope you all are well!11 -

Steps for Wednesday

Wednesdays are bad for me as they are meeting days. Add the heat and rain and the last thing I want to do after work is walk outside. TS Debbie is coming through so the rain will continue for the next couple of days, but the temperature should drop so that's a plus. Also, we've been in a drought so we really need it.
Stay dry everyone!6 -
Hello Shape Shifters. I have been really busy with lots of different things. Tinus has not been using the big cat trees and the shelves along the ceiling for a while now. He is still very happy, playful and runs a lot, but jumping and climbing not so much. So earlier in the week, I cleaned both cat trees and took pictures to post them for sale online. I think they will take a while to sell since one of them is huge and expensive. I got one really low offer I turned down and one person that said they were interested, but no further messages to follow up. Tinus will still have enough stuff left to scratch on and I am looking forward to having more options with the living room.
I also posted an ad for cat toys and an adorable cow hocker I have no use for. I don't like selling things online because it is always very hit and miss with people. I have often had that people showed up late, or randomly cancelled or tried to haggle when they were here even though the price was already agreed upon. I just find it all stressful. I had 3 boxes with 12 protein bars each that I thought were disgusting so I listed them for free. They just got picked up by a young guy and he gave me a watermelon in return which was really sweet. Tinus was afraid of it, lol.
Once the cat trees and shelves are all gone, I might repaint the wall if it is needed and I will get some new furniture for myself instead. I would like another Ikea Kallax unit that I can use as a room divider as well and I picked out a lovely relax chair with a footrest to read in. But sorting out the other stuff first. All those plans and more keep my brain very busy. I woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't sleep anymore, so I got up at 4:45. No 8 hours of sleep for me this time! Anyway, I am gonna chop up the melon now. Have a lovely day everyone!8 -
@jessicakrall8
If it is not too late, I would like to be added to the step challenge again (sorry forgot we need to sign-up each month)
Goal: 10,000. I like would like to walk in a lovely forest like @Pupowl , but I live in a busy city... next best is to walk to and around our local parks.

@jessicakrall8 - Hope you had a restful night’s sleep and feel better today.
@Cyncia85 - Good for you for doing the practice exams to prepare for the test. I tell my sons that they can only do their best and even if they don’t pass the first time, they will know more of the information than they did before taking the class. I’m sending good vibes and feel confident you’ll do well.
Sometimes it helps me to think about the worst case scenario and make a plan so I know I can deal with any outcome. For example, I’ll know which areas I need to work out if I review the items I got wrong, etc. However, you’re not going to need that strategy this time! Visualize yourself moving through the items with ease and confidence— you’ve got this!
The job interview process seems tedious and ridiculous these days, with so many rounds of reviews and interviews. I agree that the employees also seem really bad about letting people know when they have filled the position so they can move on to other tasks and applications. It might feel good to take out your frustrations on the course and leave your troubles behind in the mud! Hang in there and best wishes for your test, race, and job application. Thinking of you today!4 -
Your renovation plan sounds reinvigorating @pupowl! I like to reorganize my work or living space to get a fresh start on a new project or goal. My decluttering process seems to move so much more slowly than other people. I admire your ability to get rid of things you no longer want so decisively. I think there’s an emotional correlation between getting rid of stuff and weight loss that I might need to explore!
The image of Tinus avoiding the watermelon made me smile. New can be scary but he seems to have overcome his fear 😅. What a nice gesture for the young guy to share the fruit in exchange for the protein bars. Small gestures like that renew my faith in humanity — we need more of those so thanks for sharing!2 -
@Pupowl I love the picture of Tinus and the watermelon. That face! So cute. Pets are such wonderful companions. They can be so funny too.
I know what you mean about selling online. People can be so flaky. I like your plans for the room. Love Ikea, but there are none anywhere near where I live. There is one where my son lives, so when we visit him, we always go to Ikea!2 -

@PatriceFitnessPal I am sure you will get it done eventually! Slow is better than no progress. I don't really deal with clutter very well. It takes up space in my brain that I rather use for other stuff. I also like watching clean out videos on youtube which can be very motivating! Also the less stuff you have, the easier it is to clean the house. I have asked myself "if I could only save 10 things from my home, what would they be?" I honestly have no idea. I guess I don't really get attached to stuff that easily. I have things I like of course, but if I lost them, I don't think I would get upset over any of it.
@iradi8 Glad you liked the picture! Tinus' face is always silly. The closest ikea to me is an hour away, but I don't have a car so I will just order online. It isn't super cheap to get things delivered, but I am happy to pay it for a couple of bigger things. I could ask my dad, but Ikea isn't a very fun shopping experience imo and he is old and should enjoy his life instead of helping me out! I rather not ask for help if I can do it myself and in this case that means I prefer to pay for shipping.
@jessicakrall8 Just wanted to point out that @izzyred9400 beat me with steps in week 1!5 -

Happy Friday! It's pouring rain today, not sure I will get all my steps in today. Congrats to all in the step challenge, those are some pretty impressive numbers!
I was surprised to see the scale drop today. This past week, probably about half the days I was able to track nutrition and have a calorie deficit and the other half I definitely splurged. A lot of my weight fluctuations are hormonal.
I'm heading on a family visit next week and won't have access to a scale, can I please be excused next Friday?
Thanks and have a great weekend!

Never been so happy to see no change. Spent the last 3 days on a mini vacation in a resort town, day 1 included the drive plus 3.5 hours of biking. Didn't wear my smart watch so no idea on calories burned, still tracked all my food consumed but made a wild guess on a high calorie dinner entree. Next day hiked a gruelling 16km, all uphill hike, watch said I burned just over 2000 calories on that hike so allowed myself another high calorie dinner entree which I found something similar in MFP to log at 1000 calories. Yesterday was a day at the spa and the drive back home, tracked everything and got right back on track with my calorie deficit.
I think my body enjoyed the 2 days of higher calories, maybe that and the huge amounts of exercise revved my engine a bit. Biggest shift for me was what I was eating, or rather not eating, the rest of the time on vacation. Normally I get into "vacation mode" and say eff it with diets and have a few bags of chips going for car snacks, liberally enjoy baked goods and dessert coffees. I avoided all that and the only crunchy I had was some flavoured rice cakes, limit 2 on the drives plus iced black coffee, splash of soy milk no sweetener.
my body is super sore still from the hike so prob lots of inflammation and water logged muscles, going to focus on protein the next few days. @frankwbrown i think i gained all the water you lost! great job tho, keep at it! i also looked at my complete MFP history since you shared yours, maybe I will post about it - been on MFP since 2010 ha ha!7 -
@Pupowl IKEA isn't a fun shopping experience?!?😨 I'm thankful my closest one is 1.5 hours away! Every time I go there I get at least a dozen things that I don't need. Plus if you go early you get a whole breakfast for $1. Then there's the free coffee... and $1 frozen yogurt... and now I want to go to IKEA. 😕 🤣4
-
@DaffyGirl88 Lol, I can see how some people might enjoy it but I hate it. The store is huge, if you only need 1 thing, you are walking forever, there are too many people and being sucked into buying useless stuff is not a positive imo! I just think it is absolute chaos and a waste of my time. Then again, I don't really like shopping in general. If I can do it online, I will nearly always prefer that.5

Just wondering if anyone here has tried the 75 Soft Challenge. I looked at 75 Hard and it would be too Hard for me! 75 Soft might be doable, and I think I need to change things up a bit... the scale is moving in the wrong direction!2
-
@looneycatblue We actually had a 75 hard/medium/soft challenge here for all the groups earlier in the year. If you want to read for some ideas, here is the thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10910763/75-hard-medium-easy-challenge-march-3-may-17/p13

@looneycatblue I'll play. I looked at 75 hard once before and it was literally too hard 😂 never heard of 75 soft before but an game to try it.2 -
Here are the basic rules (found by Googling)
75 Soft Challenge Rules
The simplified 75 Soft Challenge rules are designed to be followed for 75 days to help you build a consistent healthy routine. Here are the rules:
1. Eat well and only drink on social occasions.
2. Train for 45 minutes every day, with one day a week for active recovery.
(I read that the 45 mins can be broken up if you want)
3. Drink three liters of water a day.
4. Read 10 pages of any book a day.
@DaffyGirl88 , I'll start tomorrow... getting my mind set today! Anyone else want to try this?3 -

I will start on Saturday also! I will fall apart at the end as I have a family reunion type thing on day 65, but this will be a good thing to prepare me for that event.3 -

It’s been a weird week, food-wise. I’ve been on a soft diet due to my dental work, I had one night where dinner was literally junk food (had to leave my house at 4 to carpool to an event an hour away, and upon arrival found they had all kind of snacks. Didn’t get home til 10:30), and another night we met up with a big group of friends to visit with some dear friends who came in from out of town. It was Mexican, which usually causes me to retain fluid. And I also ordered a margarita. I don’t drink often and I tried to be good and order a small drink but the restaurant made a mistake and made me a large instead. Oh.darn. 😆 Plus we are going out of town next week and I am determined to eat out of the pantry this week so I don’t have a lot go to waste. We will be having some interesting meals for sure!
Something I’ve been struggling with is listening to my body and refraining from eating if I’m not hungry. I find I’m eating a lot more because my husband is hungry, not me. Now that I’ve noticed that, I need to work on how I will respond to it.3 -
@cre804 there are worse things in life than "accidentally" getting the Mucho Margarita LOLOL4
