@ashleycarole86 welcome back!! We definitely missed you! I hope the move went well. I also know you were very stressed at your last job, so I hope your new one is better!
@MaddawgMadsen happy early birthday!!! 🥳
@bowens1973 will you be coming back as well?
@jguldi11 great loss again this week 😊
@micki48 2 pounds is awesome! If you lost 2 pounds every month, in a year it would be 24 pounds!
@stephanodda as Kay said, being in the green means you lost weight from the prior week, even if it's 0.1 pounds. All those fresh veggies and herbs sound delicious!
I made it through Monday at work. I have a big to do list for stuff at home, but I never seem to have time. Plus with it being so hot out, I haven't been wanting to do any weeding or yard work. I am going to start with making an actual to do list so I can get things done!

Back for my group intro!
My name is Ashley, I'm 38 years old, and I am a former Albertan that just moved to British Columbia in early May. We downsized from a four bedroom house to a two bedroom condo with a lake view which was a feat in itself, but that transition time has also included my mother moving across the country in the opposite direction and new jobs for both my husband and fellow teammate @bowens1973 and I. As someone who worked with my previous employer my whole career - 18 years thus far, it was a big transition to say goodbye to the company I'd called home my whole adult life. But as @lauren_989 pointed out, my career was quite stressful. One of the major benefits of the move is that we have both benefited from a change in our jobs.
In terms of weight loss, I came to this team in January 2021 at my then high weight of 293 and proceeded to lose 120 pounds through accountability here. In late 2022/early 2023 a regain began and since then I have returned to exactly where I started. The thing that changed was I lost my tracking consistency. I have been a binge eater and emotional eater for my whole adult life at least and it's very easy for me to over consume. I do like exercise and movement but chronic stress and burnout at work had me collapsing like a puddle into my couch every day, choosing wine over exercise.
Even though this major life overhaul was a huge transition, it will be great for us both in the long run, and we are already loving life in our new community. The thing we need to get back to is healthy living. So, I'm back, and my goal is really to start rebuilding consistency here and then figuring out what my path to lifetime success is.
Looking forward to a great July ahead!

@YinxFed Happy Birthday ! Hope your day is fabulous 😁
@ashleycarole86 Welcome back !
So this morning I woke up at 4.30am, and laid in bed and thought to myself, I should get up and exercise before I pick up my phone and get all stuck in that. Then when I looked at the clock again it was 5.25am, so ya know what I did, I got up and did 25 min of yogalates 😎 I was so proud of myself. That was a tough 25 minutes though, I am not gonna lie, but it felt good, so maybe I'll ty again tomorrow.
Today the electricians are coming to try to finish my electrical, apparently, the under-cabinet outlets I chose are alot, but ya know what, they are the ones who decided I needed so many, I woulda been happy with 2 sections, they are putting it under almost every cabinet. So hopefully they finish today, cause they are getting on my last nerve.
@lauren_989 I do my weeding/deadheading/cutting 1st thing in the morning on saturday or sunday, like I get up with the birds, have some coffee and then I am usually done weeding by the time my husband gets up, it's so peaceful, just me, the dogs and my flowers. I have some dinner plate sized yellow dahlias that are just absolutely gorgeous. I am new to dahlias though, so I am doing something wrong because when I cut them , they don't last very long, so I need to make a trip to the garden center and have a chat.
Also, I would like to change my weigh in to tomorrow for this week only, Weds is my sons birthday, and we are going to mexican for dinner, so I know Thursday morning will include a whole bunch of water weight, and I just don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
Have a wonderful day !

Yesterday was a successful and productive day, I managed to have vegetables with each meal (I struggle to get veggies in with breakfast) and I got a lot of housework done which counts as physical activity for me. I also did some speech therapy work with my son, something I need to make time for every day.
Today ends my vacation time, I go back to work. Thankfully I enjoy my job so really the only downside is having to wake up early lol.
@ashleycarole86 The lake view home sounds lovely, that's a dream of mine! Do you feel comfortable sharing what type of work you do? I can relate to a lot of what you've shared, a big job change, emotional binge eating, going back to square one. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more!
@YinxFed I hope you enjoy the read, and Happy Birthday!!
@babyw8gone I'm sorry to hear about your foot, that can really be a hindrance. Good job staying consistent with your weight despite that challenge! Sending hugs your way 🤗

@ashleycarole86 Monday, June 30 - 4,762 steps - 1 hour of CrossFit … I didn't get my afternoon walk in because we had a thunderstorm overhead.
Also, @ashleycarole86, so great to read through your intro this month. Such a big move, but it sounds like it will really be worth it. I'm happy for you and Brad that you were able to find a nice place to live and better jobs.
@YinxFed - Happy birthday!! We're almost twins!
NSV - I went to CrossFit yesterday without looking at how many people were going to be there and what the workout was. This is big because since I hurt my knee, I cancel on any class that is mostly legs and/or has more than four or five people in class. This is because I have to modify my workouts and I hate doing it around so many people. Last night was focused on two lifts I cannot do because of my knee, and we had nine people in class!? I got a good workout in and still had the support of the coach and everyone else. It was a great night!
@Gidgitgoescrzy - Great job on doing that workout this morning! I struggle so much with mornings. I am impressed that you were able to do that.
5 -
Wow! I am seeing some non-scale victories here! Getting up early to exercise, going to exercise class when you would normally cancel, and eating veggies with every meal! Way to go! 😊

Whoaaaaa …. scanned to catch up. Will do a proper catchup tonight or tomorrow. Me today:
Creaky knee brigade update! Just back from orthopedic surgeon's office. Got shot #2 of 3 of visco gel injections in left knee, and shot #1 of 3 of visco gel injections in right knee. Next week is left knee 3 of 3, and right knee 2 of 3 :D. It's supposed to take up to 8 weeks to reach peak effectiveness. Resting them today. Last week I 'had a wander' around the campus for 30 minutes post-injection. This week the lady said no exercising for 24 hrs.
Good thing I did my Planet Fitness ST workouts ✔ and PTEs playlist workout ✔ this morning, AND already have over my 10k/daily steps goal complete ✔.
It's disgusting out today. Low 80s, but it feels like walking thru steamy mud. Bloof!

I'll be rejoining the step challenge as well, on top of resuming my duties reporting on it!
I looked at my last year's average steps and they were ~7300/day so I'm going to start with a goal of 7500/day and try to hit that consistently before I look to increase it. Having said that, I'm not off to the best start so far this week. Sunday we were out on the boat all day so I did a lot of sitting and then last night after work we went to see the new F1 movie. Today isn't going much better as I had to work and it's too hot out to walk my dog but I'll try to at least beat the last couple days!

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians and @YinxFed enjoy your birthday later this week!
@jguldi11 I work in the logistics field in the oil and gas industry. I used to live in Calgary which is primarily energy sector jobs, but I moved to a place that has very little of that. I suspected I would be completing changing industries but lo and behold, there was a company in Kelowna offering that type of work and they happened to be hiring. My new job is back to the roots of what I started in many years ago, I don't have people reporting to me, etc.. just a lot more relaxed. It's still operations so there's still lots of problems to solve but I am much less stressed.

- just a reminder I am weighing in early this week.
Yay, thats week # 3 in the green,
So the stupid electricians did not show up yesterday, they blamed the storms, it was a really nasty storm, but it only lasted 30 minutes, so it makes no sense. I am so irritated with them. I can't put anything in the upper cabinets till they are done, and since I don't know where stuff is going to go, I don't want to start organizing till I can access all the space.
Anyway, I got my flowers staked better, I have to think ahead next year and pre- stake them. Dinner was sad, I had a soft pretzel, a cucumber and a handful of walnuts. I did not prepare for dinners this week at all.
I was a little late this morning, but I did get in a 15 minutes pilates/yoga session, so that felt good, not as hard as yesterday. I think I need to set my alarm 15 minutes earlier, I like the longer sessions better.

Another week in the green. And, another night at CrossFit. My normal weigh-in day is Thursday, but I realized with that being our recognized holiday in my office, I am not likely to get on a computer or my phone and post my weight. So, I'm doing it today. 😊
@ashleycarole86 - congrats on finding something way less stressful! I'm excited and happy for you.
Tuesday, July 1 - 8,949 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
5 -
Happy birthday Yinka and Lauren! I hope I have that right.
Vikki sorry those electricians did not arrive. I’d love to see your dalias.
I’ve been good about logging. Pilates done all but one day. Weather has not been cooperating with walking but I’ll get there. Food has been on point. I’m at least more accurate about knowing how much water I’m drinking.5 -
I'm Joann, I'm 44, live in Alberta and work full time in Public Health. I have a 10 year old daughter and 2 year old German shepherd dog that keeps us active. I have been working on managing work stress and anything outside of my control because it's been eating at me. My workplace has started to move into the toxic environment and I have a hard time managing. June was a good month and I am so excited for the summer. The weather has been fantastic and my garden is looking great. Also I have a vacation booked to BC that I'm looking forward to at the end of Aug.
@ashleycarole86 - Nice to see you back

Little by little each day I've been pushing up closer to my desired target!
I will admit it's much easier when it isn't as hot as it is out right now as my dog can't stand the heat, and she is a huge motivator for my steps!
First weigh in back tomorrow, yay! I'm not expecting anything major considering I just returned mid week on a whim, but good to get back into good habits
@cleaneater80 ugh times a million for a toxic workplace.. that eats away at a person, I'm so sorry to hear that's what you're dealing with
@lauren_989 someone slipped into the 100s while I was away!! Way to go girl, your hard work and consistency is paying off

And now this morning I weighed in 1.8 lbs down. Can I switch my WI day to Thursdays? Lol. Jk. I know I have to stop weighing everyday cuz it’s driving my crazy. At least down is the right direction.
5 -
@stephanodda I am so impressed by your motivation to wake up that early to workout! I know you're frustrated with your WI, but I'm sure you'll start seeing results soon.
@Alatariel75 ooooh an Epsom salt bath sounds lovely! I have an Epsom salt gel that I rub onto sore muscles when I don't have time for a bath, not nearly as relaxing but it soothes the muscles anyway.
@micki48 sounds like great progress! Do you follow a pilates video or go to a class, just do your own thing? (My phone initially autocorrected pilates to pirates ☠️ had to share the laugh lol).
@ashleycarole86 that does seem like a stressful job, especially when you're supervising other people. It's great you were able to find something more relaxed. It makes a world of difference!
I had some NSV the last 2 days, a co-worker asked if I was losing weight, because she could see that I looked a little slimmer, and I was able to comfortably wear a shirt that was too tight a couple months ago. When I walked by the candy dish at work and wanted to reach for one I remembered my progress and it was easy to say no. Lots of wins!
I haven't been walking as much lately, it's been soooo hot. We don't have central air in our house and the window units keep it liveable but not quite cool enough for my liking, so it's been hard to get my booty up and moving. I have a beach trip planned with a friend and my oldest child on Friday, so that should be an active day at least.

Day 3 that I got up and did Pilates/yoga ! Woohooo It was a 30 minute session this morning. I set the setting to slow down the moves, and it's been a great help, I noticed I am super wobbly going from low lunge to warrior 1, and slowing it down has helped me get a little more stable, and it helps in the pilates moves too, cause I pay more attention to doing the move properly instead of keeping up with the cues. I guess sometimes slower is better !
@Jguldi11 congrats, having someone notice your hard work is always a good feeling, and new clothes from your own closet is a bonus.
@ashleycarole86 Nice loss for 1/2 a week !
@Stephanodda Girl, me too ! I was another pd down this morning.. and today is my normal weigh in day, but I moved it cause I thought I was going out to dinner, but he decided he wanted to wait till the weekend. Ugh, lol
How come sometimes it's tags people in blue, and sometimes it won't ? What am I doing wrong, anyone else having this issue ?
It's a long weekend for me, I don't have much planned, We were all supposed to go to friends house for a 4th of July party, but I decided I didn't want to, it's draining, the last few times we've been there it's been very tense, they fight alot and they try to do it in a way that isn't loud and obvious, which in a way makes it worse, and maybe it would have been different this time as there will be other people, but I just don't care to take that chance, I prefer the peace of my own little world.
We will go to the pool a few days, and I am hoping to get a hike in as the weather is supposed to be a little less hot and humid.
Have a great weekend !

You're not doing anything wrong with tagging, Vikki/gidgetgoescrazy, I've given up on tagging for the most part :p. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. lol

Sharing some Thursday positivity and inspo :). This is from a post I made in another challenge :
Affirmation for the week: "Do the hard things first." - William Stafford, poet and pacifist; his daily rule.
My affirmation from the week is/was going to be: You Can Do the Hard Things. In searching for it onliine, I discovered that the inspiration for that quote races back to William Stafford.
But William Stafford's inspiration may have traced back to Epictetus: "The Trials You Encounter Will Introduce You To Your Strenghths." - Epictetus.
Some other versions I found along the way, that all seem to draw inspiration from the two above:
"Beautiful Girl, You Can Do Hard Things." - NaturalLife.com
"You Can Do Hard Things.
(But Only After You've Totally Freaked Out About Them. Once You've Done That, You Should Be Just Fine.)" - Veronica Dearly
"Don't Be Scared, Do The Hard Things First." - Craig Hewitt
"Don't Worry If You're Making Waves Simply By Being Yourself. The Moon Does It All The Time." - Scott Stabile
Bonus Poem, by William Stafford:
"You Reading This, Be Ready"
Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softtened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now? Are you waiting
for time to show some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life —
What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
— William Stafford
Cheers,
~ mk :)

@ashleycarole86 great loss this week!
@stephanodda same thing happens to me. I was down another pound on Wednesday, but just tell myself it's a jump start for next week 😊
