Hola! Just got caught up 😁.
@jguldi11 yes it was raw! I’d never had raw zucchini before either but it was surprisingly…ok. Lol. You let it marinate in olive oil a bit before eating.@Alatariel75 oof I can relate. I’ve been through some life crap myself. Hang in there and keep sharing.

Pilates Done ! It was tough, I did not want to get up and do it. But I did, and the whole 30 minutes instead of cutting it short, and was still to work on time.
Some good news, My son got a job, and he has to move for it. it's only 2 hours away and it's where all of my girlfriends from High school moved to, so I will be able to go see him, and catch up with a friend or two (a nice bonus). He will even be in the same state, I'm just at the top, and he is way down at the point. I feel kinda bad I am so happy about it, I mean I love my son to death, but I really enjoyed my empty nester life. It's a really good job and he will be working on the same plane he worked on in the military although this time he will do the mechanic side, which is good because the FAA wouldn't sign off on his Power portion of his license he needs to work commercial, so this will give him the experience to get that license, then he can go to work for a major carrier and get his mommy free or upgraded flights. 😃
@Alatariel75 I can't imagine the rollercoaster of emotions you are experiencing. I think storage sounds like a good idea, maybe you could hire a cleaning service to pack it all up, because I imagine even that would be hard to do. Then you can go through box by box as you feel up to it.

@gidgitgoescrzy Great news about your son, I think you have every right to feel the joy that you do, and it's nice he'll be close and that you'll be able to visit him and other friends. Can't beat that!!
7/7 steps: 5189
I had two salads today but I also ate too many Oreos. Oops. I can get very out of control and eat mindlessly, which is why tracking was always good for me, because it forced me to be intentional.

@Gidgitgoescrzy you must be so proud of your son! There's nothing wrong with wanting him to go out and be independent, a d it's great he's still close enough to visit frequently.
@ashleycarole86 oooh it's so easy to eat too many Oreos, those are one of my trigger foods 😋 . I agree that tracking helps with staying accountable and is a good motivator for staying in control.
Earlier the kids and I danced along to a 30 minute Danny Go video, it works the whole body, and they love when I dance along with them, which makes it fun. My 1.5 year old is dancing a lot recently and it's too cute watching her shake her little diaper booty 😍
I had a good food day and was pretty close to my macro goals. I find it challenging to get enough protein without adding in a bunch of calories. Maybe I'll try making some chickpea snacks, I see recipes that intrigue me but have yet to try them.
Unrelated, our new bath tub was installed today which is a big step in the bathroom reno. I can't wait for it to be done, I'm thankful to be able to have this being worked on finally (it's been a goal since we bought our house 9 years ago) but it's stressful making so many expensive decisions.

Had a busy day today. Work 1/2 day, dermatology appointment, then went to the gym to get my jog in on the indoor track. It was 93 degrees, feel like 111. No way was I doing that outside. Then had game night at the local bakery. They stay open late once a month and have different board games to play. So much fun and get to meet new people! We played betrayal at house on the hill and One Night Ultimate Werewolf. I did have a chai tea, but pretracked it into my calories for the day.
@jguldi11 are you getting a garden or soaker tub? I have one and love it after a long day with a book and glass of wine 😊
@ashleycarole86 oreos are my downfall. I can't keep them in my house!

@lauren_989 great weigh in! We had a whirlpool tub put in, so it's great for soaking plus has jets to massage away all the stress. I'm so excited 😁

Yesterday was good, I had pulled pork and coleslaw for dinner, that has been my dinner every night this week. Tonight will be pulled pork tacos. I made it on Sunday, and it's so yummy it has the perfect kick of spicy, I use pork loin to make mine, I just don't like all the fat in a pork butt or whatever it is you are supposed to use. I use certain tricks to make sure it isn't dry, cause it can dry out quick.
The sparkys ( @Alatariel75 I totally stole that from you, it's so much easier than trying to spell electricians) are coming today, so I am super happy about that, although my son gave me a hard time about being up by 9…. 😏 I don't think I am going to like the lights I chose for the sink and island, but we shall see. I have to schedule an inspection for the gas stove and then I will be done with any other people having to come in and do stuff.
I did not do pilates this morning, I cleaned the kitchen and put everything away, so its not in way, so that took up a good bit of my morning.
@jguldi11 I completely understand the stress of renovations, the new kitchen we are working on has been something I've wanted to do since I bought this house 16 years ago. It's exciting, but really stressful. We are doing the bathroom next, but I will give the husband a few months off after the kitchen before I bug him to start on that. I remember when my kids were so little and we had dance parties, they are the best, enjoy every minute of that !
@lauren_989 I want a bakery that has game night ! That sounds so fun, I wish I was more of a people person and had the whatever it's called to go do things like that and meet people.
Have a wonderful day everyone !

I was so behind on posts! finally caught up!
@ashleycarole86 ahoy capn! so glad you and brad are back. I owe steps for week 1 of july, pls see below. would also love a pic of the view from the new abode….
@jguldi11 love a fam dance party moment!
@lauren_989 such a fun idea for board games at a bakery late night! there is a board game cafe on my street and I have never been. We played Wingspan and Dumbass over the 4th of july weekend. Wingspan is my current fave board game maybe ever.
I feel like I read over multiple birthdays - was it @YinxFed and @MaddawgMadsen ? Happy Birthdays!! To whoever, if I got it wrong lol
and @mkksemail good luck with further injections!
My first week of July did not really go to plan. I was up so so late, packing tuesday, driving from the airport to the Catskills wed, picking my brother up from a different airport thurs super late, and plenty of drinking over the holiday too - I totally wore my body down. I did 1 workout over that 5 day span, and barely got any steps. And then on Sunday, woke up with a nasty cold that has kept me working remotely this whole week. UGH! I hope it is moving through its paces - I have a post nasal drip cough now, but my throat is less sore so…? maybe a good sign.
- Steps:
- 6/29: 5349 + 55 min HIIT (AMRAP protocol)
- 6/30: 7260 + 20 min slow bodyweight flow

- 7/2: 8531 + 18 min lower body strength

@ashleycarole86 I second the idea of photos of the view from the new abode….
@jguldi11 love a good dance party! Always had them on Fridays in my classroom. I think I need one today.
@lauren_989 Having lived in GSO too, I have to ask which bakery? I love Maxie Bs Great weigh in too!!!👏🏼🎉
@mkksemail good luck with further injections! It amazes me that you do all that walking with a knee that gives you such a hard time. I have my first PT appt for my hurty hip. I think it’s bursitis.
@jguldi11 Your tub sounds wonderful. Enjoy. @Gidgitgoescrzy Youre so close to being done once those sparkies are done. 😊Can’t wait for the full reveal.
I gave in and bought another Fitbit. I can’t stand not having that data after having it so long. Bought a different one and used $$ that came from my insurance rewards program so there’s that. Got my Pilates out of the way this am. Now off to take my granddaughter to LEGO Club at the library.

Good luck with your PT, Michele ! I had bursitis in my shoulder once, that's super painful. I hope they can help you. On the walking, I do it because of my knees, not in spite of them. One of the earliest things the PT and the Sports Doc both said, is that the more you move the joint, the less it hurts. Or something like that, I can't remember exactly how they phrased it, this was back after my first knee injury (the right one) in 2019. They said walking, indoor cycling or bike riding, the more the better. It both keeps the joint loose/helps with range of motion, and reduces pain from arthritis.
I don't think it's the same for bursitis pain tho, the time I had it, I had to immobilize the arm to let the shoulder heal.
Wishing you success, with however they plot the best course for you! Also, I feel ya on the Fitbit. I've had my Sense since July '21. I kinda sorta maybe might like a Garmin when I need a new one, except …. the years of data! Exactly.
lol
Cheers!

I have a garmin and love it! It gives me a lot more info than my fitbit, has more activities to track and it has training plans on it!
@micki48 it's at Delicious Bakery. Not sure if you heard of them or went there. They used to be on lawndale but recently moved to battleground. Maxi B's is good, but my favorite bakery here is sweet dough (we have too many options)
@Kali225 we had a boardgame cafe, but it closed. That was where my husband and I had our first date 😊
@Gidgitgoescrzy I am such an introvert. I literally got nauseous the first time I went lol. But I am trying to branch out and meet new people/make friends. I wish you were still here Michele and we could have met!
I had such a busy, stressful day today and ate terrible. I was doing so well, tracking and staying in target. Reps brought us lunch from longhorn and they had my favorite, parmesan crusted chicken and broccoli! Then with all the salt, wanted something sweet and had a couple pieces of candy. Then had a work dinner at Ruth Chris and ate a few bites of steak and mashed potatoes. I brought most of it home for leftovers for my hubby.

Has anyone ever successfully uploaded a photo from their phone to this group?? Gah!! Cmon tech, let's be better in 2025.. LOL
Thanks for the warm welcome back @Kali225 and I'll get those steps added in for your monthly total! Thanks
Pics to come if I can upload them from my laptop!!

Here is the view from our balcony.
We are living downtown and that also makes me very happy as I like to be able to walk for groceries and other services. I do drive, but not that often… I take the bus to work most days and leave Brad the car but when he's not using it I will drive instead.
It's great to be able to walk down to the lake so quickly and it's good for the soul. I'm feeling pretty blue tonight but I'll strap up my dog for a walk soon and it will make all the difference to be out in nature.
@lauren_989 you mentioned putting yourself out there… that's something I'm going to have to do. After living in the Calgary area for 25 years, it's a change to be in a city where I literally know no one. People are so friendly here, I have had way more casual conversations with strangers since getting here than I'm used to, but that's not friendship… so yeah, we've been busy and we've had lots of visitors from Alberta already but eventually I'm going to have to work on making new friends.

Thank you so much for the support, everyone. It really does mean so much.
I'm still blah, and I keep starting off my days well and then going off track. I bought a 5 pack of choc chunk cookies today, ate 1, didn't enjoy it, ate another one anyway, BUT then I threw the other 3 in the outside bin so that's a win, if a waste of money. I'll have chicken and veg tonight to try and balance it out. I also have a cough, and may be developing some kind of sickness, which is very annoying, makes me feel even crappier and is keeping me from my usual exercise level. However, I did put my bike in for new tubes and a service today - I live right near some fantastic bike paths, so I have no excuse not to use them!
@ Gidgitgoescrzy I'm so excited for you that the kitchen is almost done! I've been toying with the idea of doing the kitchen or the bathroom, but I'm on big-decision-embargo at the moment, so I do nothing more than daydream and look at websites for ideas.
@Kali225 I'm watching The Marvellous Mrs Maisel right now and they're in the Catskills for the summer - I'm imagining you at a Dirty Dancing-esque summer camp haha.
@ lauren_989 that game night sounds like so much fun. Maybe I need to find something like that, I'm finding I'm very lonely at the moment. I have good friends, but they have their own lives on weeknights. Maybe I can find something local.
@ ashleycarole86 your views are stunning!! I'm jealous! And nope - never ever has uploading to MFP from my phone worked…

I will weigh in tomorrow, please and thank you,
ARGH, it's been a rough 18 hours, so I got home from work, and 1st thing is I absolutely hate the pendant lights I picked for the kitchen, I mean ugh they look cheap and they are just flat out ugly, so I have to replace them. Then I went to turn the stove on to cook dinner, and plenty of gas, but no flame. So we tried resetting the breakers, and nothing. So now the stupid man (can I even call them an electrician at this point , I don't think he qualifies to have that title.) has to come back out again. This is the 3rd time they have had to come back out for not making sure something was done right. I am over them, so over them.
We ordered chipotle, which is why I want to weigh in tomorrow.
It stormed for hours after about 5pm, like rolling loud thunder and lots of lighting, I think we were on the edge of it though, but Toby my great Pyrenees mix has gotten very anxious about storms in the past year or so, so he paces and whines and is just not happy, so that did not help my mood. I don't blame him though, it's just his anxiety gives me anxiety, but I found that making him do tricks for treats kinda distracts him. So I think I will break out his food puzzles from when he was a puppy.
Then this morning at 5am, Lily my cat was stalking something, long story short with lots of running around and icks, there was a giant flying beetle of some sort in bed with me, scared me to death! I did unalive it, and left it's body for my husband to identify, then dispose of, and as a warning for any other creepy crawlies.
Then as I was leaving I saw the neighbor putting out his recycling, so I realized it's recycling day, and I have a full can, so I go get the can, now mind you I am dressed for work, and it rained the previous night, I don't have a driveway, so the quickest way is thru the grass, and up the hill, well I did not fall, but I did lose my shoe separate 3 times, while my neighbor laughed at me. ( I was pulling the can , and it kept hitting the back of my foot, knocking my shoe off, then I couldn't get the can to stand straight, and it was just a whole ordeal.
Anyway,
I would like a nap in a bright sunny garden with the warm sunshine, no humidity and no bugs now please.

Baked good and board games - sounds divine.
Gidgitgoescrzy unexpected bed guests would freak me out too. Hope you get some sun.
Alatariel75 nice loss. Hugs to you this week.
ashleycarole86 Love the view
I had a great time at the lake. Was a great break and made some memories with the family. Can't believe the week is almost over. July seems to be going by to fast.
With work not in a fun spot right now I'm really focusing on what I can control. My workouts, my attitude and letting things go. So much of my stress is on stuff I can't control.
For the win, I am keeping up with my workouts and keeping the alcohol down - celebrating the little things.

You were vacationing in BC, were you not @cleaneater80 So glad you got a well deserved break from work
7/8 steps: 7,785
7/9 steps: 8,563
My seven day step average is just above my target of 7,500 steps, so that feels great!
One more work day and then I'm off for four days in a row. Woo hoo! I get less vacation in this job so I will really cherish and enjoy the days I do get.

Life has just been too stressful and that is ongoing for a few more weeks. We are moving after 17 years in our current home so that's pretty major. Some other stuff too...
Can relate to a lot of what's been said, including my son finding his first job (summer job, he's at uni) and all that entails- good and bad.
Food wise has not been good. Stress makes me eat rubbish and I have a very sweet tooth. But I've tried new workouts including open water swimming which was amazing, but also caused me a few hypos which were horrid. Still learning about my fairly recent type 1 diabetes diagnosis and it takes a chunk of mental space.
Anyway about 5 weeks to moving day and I hope things settle a bit after that.

@Pearl4686 After a big move of only being in a place for 6 years, I can feel for how difficult it would be after 17. You are going through one of life's most major stressors and I hope you find some relief soon. How far is the move? Same city, new house, or a new place altogether?

Friday Weigh In
PW: 256.7
CW: 260.6
blehhh. I finally turned a corner with this germ yesterday, got 2 good nights of sleep, but still pretty congested overall, and got my time of the month today. Ate like total crap yesterday, but a late evening energy boost saw me doing 2 loads of laundry (lots of steps since the laundry room is on the other end of my building/hallway), cooking, cleaning the kitchen, and doing a 16 min stretch session. I must be feeling better??
So I really just want to see the scale go down this month. novel thought.

Friday hugs ((( Pearl ))), ((( Kali ))), ((( Gidgit ))) !
Fighting the insomnia bear this week. Ain't fun! Getting to sleep way too late, getting up way too late. ughk
Pearl, my husband is T1 diabetes, big hugs as you learn a new way of navigating life. Anything that uses large muscle groups drops hubby's bg like a rock. Legs, glutes, big arm work, yea those will all eat up glucose, for sure. It's tricky! Exercise to get healthy/fit, have to glucose bomb after big workouts, it's a puzzle to sort, for sure.
Cheers all !
