Finally got rid of my 'kiddie pedals' and put clip in pedals on my bike today. Got me some neat shoes too. Never used them before, so spent most of the time in my living room, clipping in and out. Gonna hit the streets tomorrow!

DEAN - That's my job!!!! *insert realistic whip-cracking noise here* I'm trying to set a good example and do my part too though...I biked 10.2 miles before work, walked 2 over lunch and did another 6.2 miles on the bike after dinner.
SCARFE9991 - Yup! You are firmly in the GREEN now! :drinker:
ANACONDA469 - I bet you're going to like them. I know I love mine. I've had cages/straps for many years so I'm used to that sort of thing, but I didn't realize just how much better clips are than cages! They're SO smooth! And unlike cages, there's no slack or play in them where you lose some of your power every time your foot transitions from pushing to pulling and back to pushing again. The snugness and firmness of the shoes make it such a fluid motion!! My only word of advice is this....consciously get in the habit of unclipping the foot you usually plant on the ground about 10-15 seconds *before* you come to a complete stop. Don't wait to do it as you're stopping...that will be too late. Also until you really get accustomed to them, adjust them so it doesn't take very much effort to twist out of them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

WANDERAN - Welcome back, hope you had a great time!
KAR328 - Bummer, sorry to hear your hip is bothering you again. Mine bothers me when I walk. It's fine when I run. Wanna trade?:bigsmile: Mine seems to be the piriformis muscle and has the added bonus of sciatic pain...especially when going up stairs. I'm trying to stretch it a couple times a day and I'm also foam rolling the heck out of it trying to beat it into submission. Some days it works, others not so well.
I don't know what it is, maybe it's the warm weather finally hitting or the vacations and holidays stacking up, but this thread is being awfullly quiet this week with mileage updates from ya'll!! *hint hint* :flowerforyou:
I got a run in this morning before work and another 2 miles walking at lunch time. I'll probably put another few in this evening on the bike depending on what time I get home after running a couple of errands.
Happy Friday!!
Dave

Dave,
Took my first real ride with my clip ins. When the bike shop installed them yesterday, they put light tension. Yeah I was really concentrating on unclipping prior to stopping. I was way more cautious today then I was before. I have a century ride coming up July 12th. Hope I have it down by then. Thanks Dave for the advice.

So, I just mapped out the mileage I got at Disneyland - 6.67 total (approximately, since I had to approximate my routes taken, and who knows how many double-backs I had to walk to round up family members... I also was pushing my mother-in-law in her wheelchair part of the time, which makes me feel like I should get extra miles, but I didn't add any for that - ha!)
I am back home now (a day early, actually, as my son just couldn't hack all the out-of-routine stuff and started getting beyond awful to be around so we skipped Yosemite - I'm bummed, but it will keep for another time when he's a little older and can handle out-of-routine a little bit better).
I think I've caught my ticker up to my current total and may be able to add a bit tonight - I'm hoping for a run around the neighborhood, but am also tired so not sure if I'll actually get it in. In any event, I'm hoping to go to spin class in the morning which will be really nice. Being in an RV is not good for the MOVING part of a healthy lifestyle!
