A second Congratulations to @emmab0902 for her great success in Australia. :)

Early morning splash. The water was nice and cold so I really enjoyed the swim.
    40 lengths - 1km all front crawl.

I missed 2 Adult Swim Club sessions last week - travelling for work - and that also meant I missed all the lane swimming. Was not a happy camper last week.
Looks like an Early Winter this year - lots of snow in the last 3 days. Last year it was mid-November before we got hit.

90 laps last night. Then went to a Chinese indoor Archery range for a bit over an hour. Met a group of 20 somethings, some if whom spoke passable English.
They asked if I shot before so I showed them pictures of the Archery range in my back yard :D

First swim since Aussie. Our flight back was delayed due to a worldwide computer crash of Air New Zealand, so had to stay a night in Auckland. Got home yesterday, then had to fly Wellington at 630 this morning for two days at police college. Fortunately college has a 25m pool so I went for a swim tonight.

    2900m

    500 warmup

    400 as 75 free 25 fly 75 free 25 back 75 free 25 br 75 free 25 fly

    4x 75 as
    50 fly 25 back
    50 back 25 br
    50 br 25 free
    50 free 25 fly

    Pyramid freestyle set as
    400
    200
    100
    50
    50
    100
    200
    400
    20s rest between each bit.

    200 warmdown.

It's a six lane pool but didn't have any laneropes so felt a bit choppy! Plus a week's holiday doing zero exercise, sitting on planes, and eating lots has caught up with me lol.

2125 m Adult Swim Club. Missed last 3 sessions due to work so just about 2 weeks since I had a real organized-solid workout. Today there was a real emphasis on kick sets.

    2 x 50 kick + 50 FR warmup 200

    25 kick + 50 FR
    25 kick + 50 BR
    25 kick + 50 BK
    25 Kick + 50 Choice

    100 FR
    2 x 50 kick + 25 Fr
    2 x 50 Kick + 25 Bk ( Starting to HURT :s )

    100 Br
    2 x 50 kick + 25 Br
    2 x 50 kick + 25 Bk

    100 Br
    50 kick + 25 Fr
    50 kick + 25 Br
    50 Kick + 25 Bk

3 Dolphin + 3 Strokes Underwater - then hard to the wall - Flip Turn Repeat for 50 m total
    Front, Breast, Back, Choice Net 4 x 50m = 200m

    200m Fr Constant Stroke Count

    100m cool down

*kitten* that was tough, which means that it was something I need to repeat.

The Instructor mentioned that they were looking at starting a Masters Club and wondering if I would be interested. Why not - I would get extra swim lessons/pool time. Which would improve my Tri-Athlon abilities and give me another excuse to travel for recreation - Win Win Right ?? B) . Now the scheduling fun begins Family, Running, Swimming, Downhill Skiing, Cross Country Skiing and Life. Oh and some where I am supposed to work.
The only concern, the Potential Coach is a bit of a super athlete.
All ways seems to be in the top 5 of anything she takes on so tonight's workout would be an easy night under her, and I am truly wooped right now.

So my infected insect bite that turned septic did not respond to antibiotics ~ and I spent last Saturday in A and E getting an abscess drained.....Very very painful... I'm on regular dressing changes, and not allowed to get the wound wet. And told healing is likely more months rather than weeks. But to be honest, what with all the painkillers and antibiotics, I don't feel much like swimming - walking has only just got bearable after 5 days. (Not great with a dog!).

    Oh well, it will pass.

But I don't recommend having a skin abscess!

Congrats on all the swimming - you lucky people.

@fishgutzy Welcome back - 44 hours is how long it takes you to do the trip from China back to NA.

@gentlygently That Sucks and Blows. I wonder if it was some type of spider with a little bit of the venom they use to kill the insects they catch.

    Adult swim club tonight.
Warmup 50 Choice, 50 Ch Kick

Fr Set descending clock so less rest as the distance increases.
    4 x 25m Descending 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s
    4 x 50m Descending 85s, 80s, 75s, 70s
    4 x 75m Descending 95s, 90s, 85s, 80s
    4 x 100m Descending 120, 110, 100, 90

Repeat with Backstroke ( I am slower than a turtle walking on land )
    2 x 25m Desc 60s, 55s, 50s, 45s
    2 x 50m Desc 130, 120, 110, 100
    2 x 75m Desc 160s, 145s, 130s, 115s
    2 x 100m Desc 180s, 170s, 160s, 150s
Those were the goal times - I made the first set but was off on all the others.
Gave myself 5 - 10 secs on the wall and pushed off to struggle through it. Basically tried to time it to not be a lane blocker for other people in the club. Just not a good Back Stroker.

    25m Choice Build
    50m Kick Ch
    75m Atl Breathing 3 on 1st, 5 on 2nd, 3/5/7 on 3rd
100m Fr, Bk, Br, Ch Drill
    75m Back
    50m Breast
    25m Easy (400m)

    Now some Fun Drills

    Tag, Turn, Tag Relay
12.5m Swim and tag 2nd swimmer
    12.5m flip turn 12.5m and tag 3rd
    12.5m to shallow tag 4th
    12.5m to center tag 5th
Starting from a static position in the center of the pool with no pushoff and limited room makes for a hard start. It was a Fun Drill.

    Added 200m to the Swim. = 2300m

    Water Slide Drill.
Turn the Water Slide on - drop some pucks in the outflow so they give you a Target Line on the bottom of the Pool. Try to swim the puck line up to the Water Slide and touch the slide.
A great test of Breathing control, stroke power and just stupid fun trying to stay in the center of the out flow. It really throws you around.

@gentlygently - you are the second person to share of bad spider bites...do take care and follow dr's intstructions.

@juliet3455 - Oh, like those sets, going to mean play around with them. I only do free and backstroke and the occasional one armed butterfly, so I like good backstroke sets.

@juliet3455 actual flight time including layover is about 23 hours.
This trip was messy because the the flight from Hangzhou to SF was cancelled. They bused us to Shanghai.
Slept nearly 11 hours last night.

Worked on some outdoor projects the last couple days. Priming the interior of the new shed and building a ramp for it.
After that my testosterone level is just about back to normal after a month of apartment dwelling.

Ran a 10K with my sister yesterday. It was almost entirely on pavement which my body isn't used to (trail runner). I got myself out of bed early this morning to get into the pool. I found an empty lane and had 45 minutes to swim and stretch. I'm not sure how far I went, just focused on staying flat, reaching long, and feeling a good stretching out.

4 miles at my home YMCA! Yahoo! Good to be home.
Worked on home projects over the weekend and yesterday opted to take my wife to see The Accountant rather than swimming by myself. Been months since we have gone out just the two of us.
[The Account is worth seeing despite BA's propensity for spewing nonsense during TV interviews. The movie would have worked well with Christian Bale or Tom Hardy as well. Better actors but Ben still manages to pull it off.]

Adult Swim Club. 1900m of drills.
200 warm-up Choice. ( A smart man would look at the workout and not do the same stroke as the main swim set ) :s
    2 x ( 25, 50, 75, 100, 75, 50, 25 ) Back Stroke Ladder Drills
2 x ( 50 kick + 50 pull + 50 swim ) Fr, Br, Bk - on the 2nd round I started Shorting the pull and dropping my left wrist on FrCrawl. :/
200m of Flip Turns, Dolphin and Underwater Pull Strokes to the middle of the pool.
Turn and Repeat in the deep end ( some of us have a clumsy flip and are always to deep/long to do flip turns in the shallow end.
    100m choice cool down.

    Another tough workout. :)

First day back in the lap pool today--after ten days, some ocean swimming, lots of bike riding, and the worst foot splinter in my life.
