@MrM27 Every time you post about going out to eat in NY it makes me happy to live in Georgia.
I'm sure all the choices I make I can find at a much much cheaper price but with me being a "food snob" and pretentious it seems I always have to go for a higher level. Then with my friend I go to eat with he's the same but maybe even worse than I am. We see each other like once a month due to mostly his work schedule so we try and eat something nice. We're a truly odd couple friend ship, I'm a fool that argues online and he last night showed me his test results for his annual resident exams, #1 in his hospital and like top 20% in the county. Makes me feel like a damn moron.

Went to dinner with my friend tonight and we decided to try Uncle Jack's Steakhouse. First time either of us had gone there. It's one of the top rated in NYC so I've always wanted to eat there. The food was pretty good. The crab cake appetizers were awesome. The $210 bill for dinner and dessert for 2 people was not so awesome.

That caramel mousse cake looks a little rare for my taste...

Cortelli what is in that cone? I was thinking fried calamari?

I'm going to assume you meant the steak was too rare?

I think she was commenting on the fact that you labeled the photo "caramel mousse cake" but then the photo itself was a rare steak.

Ah crap, I didn't realize I did that.

    Fao3Rbw.jpg?1

    Hah that looks much better!

And for the record I love a good medium rare steak.

The other night they served my lamb chop still bleating though. I told the server I thought it looked a little underdone and she said, "that's what medium looks like on lamb - you said you don't order it very often, you probably just don't know how it is supposed to look". Gee thanks, you are slow, and condescending. Awesome traits in a server...

I had this today at a baseball game and it was super good. Didn't care too much about the game itself, I mostly came for this. :p

Is that popcorn chicken in a waffle cone?

Pop corn chicken and mashed potatoes.

    Lovely steak and pizzas.

My sister is visiting so I wanted to Make something nice for dinner. I went with Pan seared scallops with lemon asparagus risotto. I think it was my best result yet with searing the scallops.

Not pictured, a few glasses of Sauvignon blanc...

The grocery store had Ben and Jerrys on sale, 3 for $8, and they had Tonight Dough, but I fell asleep on the couch before I could break into them...

So, we ended up doing my early birthday dinner at the Public House in the Venetian when we were in Vegas (as opposed to the several other Public Houses in other casinos).

    Starter was duck poutine:

My main course was a porkchop with brussel sprouts and glazed peaches:

Fiance's dinner was spare ribs with onion rings and carrots in some kind of mash, which I don't remember:

And there was much beer, although this was my only bottle (also pictured is Stan who made a lot of appearances in my photos):

Dessert is in the sweets thread...

That place gets an A+ for presentation. Was it as good as it looks?

Yup, it was all amazing. I wasn't as big of a fan of my fiance's, but he really liked it.

SOOOO good. I started with a barleywine and didn't even realize it had been bourbon barrel aged until I tried it. Then an oak aged IPA, and then the rum barrel Innis and Gunn. Apparently I was in a barrel aged mood. Sadly some of the really good sounding barrel aged bottles were $30-40 per beer (no clue if they were bombers or 12oz). I skipped on those since the "normal" beers were already $10. Gotta love Vegas...

So, last weekend I was in Cleveland, OH for a 5k and a Half-Marathon. I decided this would be a good idea the night before the half:

    6og7uudw8qs4.jpg

It's a Monte Cristo and it was DELICIOUS! I had a chocolate martini with it (which is, apparently, all I need to get tipsy these days). I only ate half and I paid for it for about two and a half days. My stomach was so unhappy with me. :anguished:

It was still so good. I love Monte Cristo's. Though, in my defense, I'd only had one from one other restaurant and it was waaay smaller and not deep fried like that. The restaurant was a spontaneous decision with my mom and sister, so I didn't read the menu well enough. OH well. Live and learn.

Dinner at Phantom Canyon Brewing Company on our vacation in Colorado Springs. Buffalo flat iron steak, sautéed green beans and grilled asparagus. Was supposed to have creamed corn and green beans but I asked for asparagus instead of the beans, server misunderstood and I got a very low carb meal... Also beer sampler. Beer was better than the food. The veggies and the steak all a little underdone.

I stopped by a local deli that has all sorts of tasty treats for some dinner treats (like prosciutto, coppa, sopressata, cheeses, etc.). And I spotted something that I wasn't prepared to buy, but now think I am going to have to try just to say I have (and to, you know, see what all the fuss is about). Jamon Iberico de Bolleta -- dry cured ham from Spain, very similar to prosciutto. What caught my eye was the price -- $42.50 for 4 ounces, or $170 per pound! A little internet research and it sounds fascinating: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam%C3%B3n_ib%C3%A9rico

I've had Iberian ham before, but apparently the "normal" cheaper stuff, never the "de Bolleta" version. Dare I drop $40 bucks for a few ounces of dried ham? Feels like a thing I need to do.

You do it and report back since I'll never be able to afford to spend that much on meat.

I think I've mentioned that we are on a two week trip in our camper through Colorado, Wyoming, and now Spearfish, South Dakota. Have had some less than memorable meals (hot dogs and pretzels) but tonight was a good one:

Thick cut strip steak which I cut in half before grilling, baked potato, asparagus, and a nice bottle of Italian wine.

    Some nice scenery today too:

Yum! We went to Maine for our honeymoon and ate lobster for lunch and dinner so many days that I actually got tired of if and had to order a burger one day....
