I confess that I went on the most romantic first date on Sunday night, even after saying that I was so opposed to romantic first dates....But, this was straight out of a movie. We met at an eclectic little sushi place that was decorated beautifully for Christmas (it was empty except for about 6 other people). He brought me a single rose, we laughed and talked all night and he even swept me off my feet with a slow dance even though there wasn't a dance floor. We went for a walk after dinner, and got caught in a mild sprinkling of rain. He took full advantage of it as an opportunity for a first kiss. I've seen him twice since, he'll be joining me at my work Christmas Party tomorrow and he's made dinner reservations for my birthday next week. We've had the "important talks" as discussed on the other thread and things are smooth thus far....but, right now we're just enjoying the day by day.

I further confess that I have been delaying the typing of any of this for fear of jynxing the relationship.

Very happy for you! That sounds wonderful.

You must have a good connection to bring him to work and be celebrating your birthday together!

I have to admit, I'm confused. I remember a little while back, DM and I agreed that building a romantic vibe on the first date is absolutely most important part when dating. The romantic vibe can range from a quiet, cozy pub to a nice dinner with a rose. It seemed that most women on here completely disagreed with me on this.

I think that most women like a romantic date, but most guys on here disliked paying for a romantic date if it didn't end up working out.

guys seem to think romantic means paw me.

    romantic is nice.

you owe me sex (or kiss or makeout) cuz i spent money on you and made it romantic is not.

Still reasonably early in the night in the United States. In the Pacific Coast region of the United States, it is not even 7 PM. Hawaii is even earlier than that.

I do feel a good connection. The work party is actually more like family (we're all affiliated with the military and have no family in the area, so we've adopted each other). I mentioned it just as something I was doing this weekend, but he was more than interested in escorting me, which was great because I was going to be the only single. It does help that he's prior military and will be able "talk shop" with the guys. And, I really wasn't expecting the birthday dinner. He texted the other day to see if I had plans that night yet and wanted to make sure he wasn't intruding on the kids' time (he is very conscientious of them). I promised he wasn't and he made the reservations. But, we're also making time for ourselves, which is very important. I like spending time together, but need "me" time. :)

And, thank you everyone!! There are definite butterflies, but still taking baby steps. :)

I confess that some men are really, really stupid.

So I am on a dating site and who do I see -- a man that is MARRIED to the daughter of someone I KNOW! The daughter is currently pregnant, due around March. She has had the pregnancy from hell. She is super skinny, diabetic, and had morning sickness throughout the whole pregnancy. She's hooked up to IVs more often then not. He's a navy man, they got married really young, but no reason he should be on a dating site! They are in Florida right now. Yeah, she picked up and dropped everything for this guy.

Now, I know her mom. Not well, but see her from time to time. Do I tell her? How do you drop this bomb right before Christmas? The mom will flip out!! Like crazy flip out!! She's crazy wild on a normal day.

Maybe they are divorced and I don't know about it? Fat chance right? Maybe next time I chat with the mom I'll ask about them and see if she says anything regarding a divorce or what not. Last time I talked to her she said the daughter was coming back here to have the baby as he was going to be deployed to Afghanistan.

    What would you do?

Vomit. That sucks sorry you're in the position to have to make that decision. If it were me I think my mom might be the person I'd want to hear it from but my mom isn't crazy so not sure.

I came to this thread to confess that I am sort of drunk which is rare and am having an enormous self pity crisis but the sick pregnant lady with the scum husband trumps me.

And that I wish I could...but I've got a horribly scratchy throat and am therefore in full covered-up-to-my-chin mode. Sorry :frown:

I would not say anything. It's not my place. If it was family it would be different however.

I don't know if it's the end of the year or what but I confess I been getting approached lately by various females in my Zumba class. Saying positive things about how I always in class, looking like I've been losing weight, etc etc. I smile, thank them and tell them I've lost about 30 or so lbs this year. I do think to myself if I should say I've lost almost 200 lbs in total? Nah.... I'm too damn shy and self-conscious. If they only knew *insert maniacal laughter here*

Yay, time to really start chatting them up and becoming more friendly since you see these women regularly... so even if there is no romantic interest perhaps they have friends?? And enjoy the compliments because you have worked hard and they know it - both are awesome!!
    Thank you.

I confess that I am proud of my packing skills. I was able to pack for winter in MN for 5 days in a carry on. I usually have a hard time doing that in the summer with smaller clothes but was able to do it while packing sweaters, jeans and sweatshirts.
