It's been six days since my last run, and I finally completed W4D3 today. I have been extremely fatigued this past week with finals, but I forced myself out of bed this morning to get back on track. Once I hit the pavement, I realized how much I missed being out there. It felt so good!
I paced myself a little slower this time, approximately 3.8 mph, since it'd been a week between my last run. I didn't struggle through any of the runs, but I had the worst side cramp about 10 minutes in. I think I drank too much water before I went out! I had to cut one of my running segments 15 seconds short because it hurt so bad. I won't be doing that again!
I'm looking forward to W5! Slightly dreading W5D3, though, and the 20 minute run.0 -
W1D3 Zombie style complete and I loved it!
My phone missed a couple of the stop running promts because they fell at the same time as music changes so I actually over ran a couple times but then I also ran more in my free form 10mins, and once it was all over and I was still making my way home I ran some more too! I feel so good right now! Worst part for me is actually the walking at the start my legs really start to burn and the first run is a relief.. which sounds kinda weird to me...
Debating if I want to keep it to a mon - fri thing, or whether to start W2 Sunday ... decisions decisions...

Week 3, Day 3.
First time my run didn't come right after a leg workout. Can't say it felt so much easier. Worse in some small ways because I'm better warmed up after the gym.
In any case, went well. Added 90 seconds of running during the cool down time since I had it in me.
Week 4 looks more challenging.0 -
After graduating on May 10th, I've tried very hard to continue with the day on day off running routine. I managed 5 x30minute runs every other day then had a break for 3 days and my run today was immense I loved it. I did half hour body boarding today too. I thought I may struggle as I had left it the longest since I started the c25k APP in March but instead my run was so great. I guess resting the body really makes a difference! Woohoo can't wait till Monday :drinker:0

Week 7, day 1 accomplished this morning :bigsmile: Was meant to be a 25min run but I decided to push a little further and managed to run for the 5 min cool down too So 30mins running today . . . never dreamed it was possible!!! :happy:0

Week 8 Day 1. Instead of pushing through my CD until I felt like stopping like I did last week, I decided to pick up my pace today and maintain it.
So the 32 minute run I did last week I finished in 28 minutes today.0 -
Normally I end my week on Sat, but my schedule was goofy this week so I did w3d3 today. I read that you have to maintain 16 in the Disney 5Ks or they won't let you finish, which has me a bit panicky since I'm typically between 16.5 and 17. I did a little over 5K this morning in total, with some added running after the official program. I feel good with it, so I'm going to keep that up whenever my legs will let me. A little nervous about week 4, but also kinda looking forward to it.
Now that the days are getting hotter, my nice, shady path is packed with people. I wish the bikes would say something before they nearly run me down!0 -

Finished the W6D3 run today. I had looked up the time on the schedule before running and was expecting 22 minutes. Boy was I surprised when the NHS podcast lady told me I'd be running for 25. :laugh: But I did it. I'm not sure why they did it that way as week 7 is also 25 minutes, bu then it should be easy by then end of the week, right?

Did my first 30 minute run. Can't believe I made it to week 9. Average pace 5.1. I have a month until my 5k so plenty of time to pick up the pace.0

Finished W4D2 tonight. I looked ahead to week 5 and it looks totally doable, now that I know I can run 6 minutes straight. I really pushed it for the last minute of my last run and it shaved a good 10 seconds off my average pace, so that was nice to see. Does anyone get knee pain as soon as the run is over? My knees flame up the minute I stop the cool down walk. I have to ice & ibuprofen as soon as my stretch is over. I have loose joints but think I will see an orthopedic specialist about them just to make sure all is okay. Hoping it's just an issue of strengthening muscles.

I had knee pain for the first time today after doing my run. It was only in my right knee, which is the one where I popped off the knee cap once a long time ago. I did running beyond the day's plan so I'll have to be careful with that.0

Doing Week 2 again, felt I need another week. Still thinking I will wait until fall to make any plans for graduation. I don't have problems with bikes. Got to deal with cars. I am thinking of trying some running/jogging on trails in the conservation area.0

Panicked myself by looking at the calendar though as wk6 is the week I'm on holiday which shouldn't be a problem except for the fact where we stay is a little Cornish village which means 100yds in any direction is a 1:4 climb lol0 -

Well done for your work so far, you're doing well! It doesn't sound very good about your knees I would definitely see a professional about them ASAP as you don't want to do any damage. My Physio advised me to run on treadmill only due to the impact on joints/ligaments etc, (after abdominal surgery back in 2011!) which I have adhered to so far without joint pains (but would love to move outdoors one day...) I'm sure you have already got yourself a really supportive pair of running trainers/sneakers? As that may help too? Good luck0 -

That sounds fun with your dog in tow! It will be lovely running in Cornwall with the scenery, fresh sea air and sunshine, so lovely you will hardly notice the steep hills...lol

Week 1 done! I ran 3 times - a total of about 16 km. I signed my 11 year old son and I up for a 5 km race on Aug.31st and am still considering training for the 1/2 marathon with my co-working on Sept.22. I have to say I've really enjoyed running again. Especially with the weather so great.0

Week 4, Day 1.
10:10 pace running, 16:30 pace walking. Longest distance so far.
Felt like a stretch, but I was confident I'd get it done.0 -

Guess what! No stress fracture! Yay! But the doc did say it is probably a bone bruise and to take it easy....so of course to me that means run/walk/run intervals. Why is it so hard to walk after you become a runner? Oh well....still a newbie...I guess I can still think that way at this point. Just going to have to make sure I stick to the run/walk intervals today....which will be a slow 4 miler.
But, other than that...signed up for my 3rd 5K...and also have my running club's 5K next month as well. Then the running expo and my running class coming up...
I recommend finding a running club or class to run with if you can. Yeah, you might have to scale back one day or something...but most running stores have free group runs...you just show up. Ask your local store for information on it....Breakaway here in Memphis (both stores) have a beginners, intermediate and advanced group runs.0 -
I missed yesterday so just did W2 D1...My ankle gave me a bit of gip today which really sucks. It was a hard one but still went further than before so no complaining

Week 5, Day 2 today. I'm doing the distance version, so 2 runs of 3/4 mile with 1/2 mile walk in the middle. I DID IT!!!
I still have my doubts about the next one- a 2 mile run. We'll see!0 -
I just did Week 4, Day 1. Didn't think I could run 5 min more than once in 20 minutes, but I did it. I did the entire thing and felt so strong I spent the rest of my time walking uphill for a total of one hour. I sweated so much my butt sweated.Feeling very good right now.0

Glad to hear your success with week 4, day 1. That's what lies ahead for me tomorrow. My running schedule will be a bit screwed up this week. Normally I run Tues., Thurs., and Sat. However, this week I'm covering an event that runs from Thurs. morning to Sat. morning, and I'll probably crash for a long nap when I get home on Sat. because Fri. to Sat. is an overnighter. The good thing is, I'll be doing a lot of walking, but I know I'll miss running and I'm not sure how I'll fit all of week four in without running two days in a row.0

Ugh I have been slacking. Haven't run since I did the 20 minute on Thursday, I'm really trying to talk myself into getting out there tonight but ugggh I don't know where all my motivation went! Haha0

I am on my final week and it is not pretty. lol I jogged as much as I could and ended up with a total of 30 minutes (with breaks in there) and I only went a little over 2 miles. I am not sure if I can consider myself as graduated at the end of the week. It doesn't matter, I am going to keep on jogging. It was 80 and humid today and that definitely did not help.0

Did Week2Day2 on Saturday with my son and then we skipped to Week 3 Day 1 today - back on track! 3 minutes was the longest running interval and I was ready to stop at the end.
I think my 7yo may have experienced his first runner's high today; as we slowed down from our last jog he informed me that he doesn't want to argue and complain any more when I ask him to do chores. My mind was boggled.0
