I started World War Z yesterday, and am about a third of the way through it. I'm liking it, and can see why people were disappointed the movie (well made, but formulaic).

Finished Divergent last week, now reading the second book in the series Insurgent.

Just a general question. Why does it seem like everything is a series now? Its like you can't pick up a book and not have minimum 2 but usually many more to follow.

I've heard a few authors says that publishers encourage series, to generate more book sales.

Also, speaking as a writer, sometimes you just get this story in your head and it's WAy too long for a single book to cover. It's either a 5,000-page book or a series. lol

Anyway, I am now reading The Valley of Amazement -- Amy Tan's new one. I'm having some trouble getting into it, but my life has been crazy lately, too.
  • I'm kind of LOVING Dean Koontz right now. Trying to decide between the Watchers and the Odd Thomas series next.

I was terribly disappointed by it. I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I didn't care what happened to it and I would bet every last dime I have that Flynn's favorite novel growing up was Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier because it's basically the same story with a few tweaks. And not done nearly as well.
