Hey, I hope I'm not too late. I'm so sorry but I've had a pretty hectic week. I've had lower hours at work but I've spent everyday either running errands or working out and it's slipped my mind to update you all. However, I have been keeping a log on my phone (admittedly not on the app because I haven't got any data on my phone and it's a bit of a pain to add all of the workouts I've done so I just added the minutes instead). Zombieinkpot has been a little under the weather so I've covered for her again this week. Same rules apply as per usual. I've done 1290 Cardio and 240 Weightlifting altogether but I've divided them into two for both myself and for Zombieinkpot. We've both hit our targets! I've just been reading and catching up and you've all done marvellous. I'm proud of Advanced!

Great job Advanced team! Proud of everyone for checking in!0

Yay Team Advanced! This is gonna be a tough week for calories and most likely I will be over. I've got a kid home from college and he's doing all the cooking (sure not going to discourage THAT!) but it's not necessarily the healthiest then we go out of town on Thursday with all that eating out. I will get my minutes in though easily.0

GET IN, TEAM ADVANCED! YES! Woo! I've done the punishment once for Zombieinkpot so I have another five more and I'm doing it for myself as well because it's pretty fun. I'm going to time myself tomorrow and do it and see if I can beat it on Friday.
My cardio and strength totals have moved up now. Cardio is +100 and strength is +25. Zombieinkpot wants to keep hers as it is, which is good news for me anyway. She's still feeling slightly under the weather but she's on the mend so she'll be back soon.
As per usual, whatever I do, I split in half to share between myself and Zombie. I've done 120 cardio, 60 strength, 1 punishment

Week 5 thru Wednesday:
Cardio: 188/130
Strength: 90/80
Calories: under for the week
Character Challenge: 1. Tara: encourage a friend. Besides my MFP list full of awesome folks I have a BFF named Michelle who just started a major diet/exercise overhaul. (I'd never do it because I think it's too extreme for me but our other BFF-Liz had incredible results so now Michelle wants to do it). I've texted her several times checking in with her on how things are going and giving her attagirls. It's week one of a six month program. There will be lots of texts!
2. Eugene: something that intimidates you. So I've done a tone of challenges on MFP and been very active in them but never taken a leadership role. One of my other big challenges that I am currently in just asked for some folks to step up and help the group mods and I said yes. Nervous as heck about this one-I'd much rather be an Indian than a Chief!
3. Abraham:motivation. Initially my motivation was lose weight! Get skinny! It has evolved now to being healthy and fit. Being able to go on active vacations as I age and to be the "fun hot" grandma when that time comes (dear God let that be more than 10 years please!). I love going to the doctor and seeing low numbers in the scale but I love getting labs back that show I'm incredibly healthy even more. I have bad family genetics to overcome and I am determined to not look like my mother or my aunts!

Well this is a rough week for me but I challenged the leader of the Intermediate team to a small competition so I will do my best to win for us all. Currently I have 155 Cardio and 70 Strength.
Going to be out of town today thru monday, but I should be able to check in saturday without fail. Character Challenge is below so I know that part is done.
1. Be like Tara: take the time to encourage a friend or a stranger on their fitness journey: I have been encouraging a friend who just had a gastric sleeve and is still on the liquid portion to remember to do alot of walking and drinking water. Before you jump on the thats horrible bandwagon, I have had one too and I am so much healthier now than I was two years ago. Its a VERY personal decision that should only ever be met with acceptance and understanding and I try very hard to encourage all those in my support group to keep trying, following the rules and getting some exercise where they can.
2. Be like Eugene: plan to try something soon that would usually intimidate you and share what that is with your team. This part is easy... I am going away this weekend with my roommate and I am going to be trying very hard to express myself emotionally. Im not good with that, Kinda anti-emotion really. Living with someone has definitely been harder than I thought cause I have to constantly remember to take someone elses feelings into account and include him in my thoughts and daily life. Wish me luck!!!
3. Be like Abraham: being on a mission helped him stay focused and it literally saved his life. Share with your team what your mission is. What keeps you motivated to work towards a more fit self? My mission is to never again be as unhealthy as I was 2 years ago. I couldn't walk up 3 steps without being winded and I had sleep apnea and horrible migraines that caused me to miss ALOT of work. I try to find MFP challenges to keep me motivated and get me off the couch. I sign up for 1-2 5k's each year, I may walk part of them, but at least Im trying. I spend time in my friends pool when summer hits and I try new things like rope obstacle courses, hiking, and bicycling just to keep motivated. The other thing that keeps me motivated, and Im not afraid to say this, is I LOVE LOOKING GREAT!! Clothes are more fun, Halloween is more fun, work is more fun, dating is more fun. I may hate exercise, but I will never deny that it is good for me.0 -
Hi all! Sorry I'm been missing but that crud was kicking my butt! But I'm back! I didn't do the best logging food while I was sick but I also wasn't eating much so I'm calling in good. I got back to the gym today(well I hit pilates Monday too that was a bad idea had a fever when I got home). So I'm at 40 strength and 100 cardio. Pilates again tomorrow and Saturday I swim with my favorite 116 lb brick( my son) so I'll hit everything for sure!!
Challenge
1. A friend asked me awhile ago to walk with her so she'd be motivated to do it. I did 2x and slacked off. So I called her and made a date for next week. With backup plans for winter weather no excuses!
2. I don't intimidate easily. I'm like Carol that way. I used to but then I found my inner strength. I think it goes with having a special needs kiddo. I'll have to think about this one more and get back to you.
3. My motivation is my kids. My son is developmental delayed and growing so I need to be healthy for him and stronger than him. And my daughter, I need to set a good example for her. Not how to lose weight or get back into shape but how to take care of your body in general. We did our first 5k this year just me and the kids and we have another one on Thanksgiving day with the whole family!0 -

Go TJ! My MIL is getting ready to have this done. And she was so scared to tell us. She was worried because we have done it "the right way"(her words not mine) that we wouldn't understand. Instead we surprised her the changes we have made made us realize how much more she needed to go that route. Now we are encouraging her in the process and helping her get ready for after. She can't wait to lose weight and get her knee surgery so she can do a 5k with her grandkids!

Hi team. Sorry for being MIA for so long. THANK YOU Mister Dazzler for being an absolute hero and helping me with my stats and posting. You are a star.
Team Advanced has been killing it. You are all total beasts! I'm so impressed. Here are my answers to the questions this week:
1. Be like Tara: take the time to encourage a friend or a stranger on their fitness journey: I've been working out meal plans for my mum and logging her food on MFP to help her lose a bit of weight and I'm thinking up ways to help her exercise, because she has mobility issues and it is hard for her to do things.
2. Be like Eugene: plan to try something soon that would usually intimidate you and share what that is with your team. This isn't fitness related really, but I suppose it is connected to it. Anyway, I find it really difficult to leave the house or to be around people, but I'm planning a trip to the cinema this month. It is going to be really tough, but I hope I will be able to fit in the seat okay.
3. Be like Abraham: being on a mission helped him stay focused and it literally saved his life. Share with your team what your mission is. What keeps you motivated to work towards a more fit self? My mission is to reach 21% body fat, be able to perform the human flag and handstand push ups and be totally awesome. Yay. I imagine every day what it will feel like to be able to do all those things and even how everyday activities will be so much easier, and that keeps me going.0 -
1. Be like Tara: take the time to encourage a friend or a stranger on their fitness journey.
I don't have a special incident to report because I do this all the time to the point I probably annoy friends, family & even customers in a dress shop I manage. I've whipped out resistance bands & have shown customers who have trouble reaching overhead various mobility exercises.
2. Be like Eugene: plan to try something soon that would usually intimidate you and share what that is with your team.
I had joined some local hiking groups a few months ago but didn't have the courage to join them actually hiking. I'm shy around groups of strangers & sometimes lack confidence in my ability to keep up. I went on a short hike with a group this week & signed up for several more that will be more challenging. I'm still nervous but proud of myself too.
3. Be like Abraham: being on a mission helped him stay focused and it literally saved his life. Share with your team what your mission is. What keeps you motivated to work towards a more fit self?
Back to those customers - I see older women who are in great shape & ones who are visibly weak. The difference is the ones in great shape stayed active. I don't want to be weak & frail. So I lift weights, swing kettlebells & hike. I'm currently working towards a 32 mile day hike in May called The Great Saunter - for the fun of it, the scenery & bragging rights.0 -
Weekly Challenge
1. Be like Tara: take the time to encourage a friend or a stranger on their fitness journey. My Husband is taking a two week backpack journey in January so I've been encouraging him to walk daily to prepare. I've been seeking out interesting areas for him to walk so hes doesn't get too bored. Also he joined MFP and has lost 5lbs so far
2. Be like Eugene: plan to try something soon that would usually intimidate you and share what that is with your team. So I don't actually have a date to do this but I am thinking new years. I would really like to join a gym with a pool. I love swimming and its a great calorie burn but I'm pretty intimidated by wearing a swimsuit in public. Step one - make it a goal. Step two - buy suit. Step three - join gym. Step four - F*&%ing DO IT!
3. Be like Abraham: being on a mission helped him stay focused and it literally saved his life. Share with your team what your mission is. What keeps you motivated to work towards a more fit self? I try to focus on how great I'll feel at my goal weight and how much more stuff I'll be able to do but at this point I feel like its just out of habit and stubbornness. I refuse to let myself move backwards, so continuing to work out and eat in moderation is sort of my only option.

Calories: under for the week.
Character Challenge: thinking on this.

Cardio 130 and 60 strength. I'll try and get some extras in for Kristy and Card but I'm really sore so we'll see. Calories I'm on track
Character challenge...I had a huge setback in spring when I overextended myself putting together a gala with auction for my daughter's school. 3 of us ended up putting together this event for 100 people, to say I was stressed is an understatement. During all that I fed my family fast food, skipped workouts and didn't sleep. I actually did not get back on track from that until recently. My husband helped, he started his weight loss journey and began cooking healthy food again. Then I started making better choices for the family and got back to the gym thanks to some friends that wanted to do a 5k with our kids. What I learned from this was that I can not do everything, I am no longer volunteering at my daughter's school and am taking care of myself and my family. I am looking at volunteering for charity now but something different were I can work a few hours and not let it consume me.
I am helping a friend with a setback. She used to run with her son but her husband started doing it so she has been unmotivated. So I'm going to do a couple workouts with her in the coming weeks to help her get on track.0
