Made appointment for neurologist for Mike next week. Nervous about what I'll hear, though I think I have no illusions! I just keep thinking there's a magic way out!
MARIE, what a precious Grayson! So alert already! Lots of luck to all of you!.
Must get more sleep. Hugs to everybody...

Keep checking up on you gals, every night! Congratulations Marie, that little baby looks like he is going to conquer the world!

We are in San Diego and the weather has been wonderful. But, of course, it has been beautiful in Phoenix also.

Tomorrow Vicki and our friend Mary Lou are going out to the mountains to look at poodles. The man who raises them is a friend of my daughter. They went to high school together in Idaho! She reconnected with him when she started looking for a Golden Retriever. She got her dog from and he is wonderful…he does think he is a lap dog and is having to learn that is not one.

    You all take care!

It's been awhile since I've been on the boards but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of all of you! I saw that (according to MFP) there are 172 people in this group. I'm guessing only about 30 are active. Wonder what happened to the rest.

I've something to share with those of you who use smart phones and have dogs. There is a great new APP for both Android and iPhone called Walk for a Dog. Once downloaded and installed, you can choose a local shelter or any animal related charity from its list and the company will donate money to that shelter for every mile you walk. Go to your APP store and search for Wooftrax. Download and install. It will chose a default shelter initially. That's OK. Get registered, then go back and change the shelter to the one of your choice.

Our favorite shelter organization is on the list and I checked with them yesterday. They confirmed that they are starting to get checks each month - small ones at the moment, but they're hoping more of their thousands of followers will start using the APP.

We (hubby and I) have started attending classes at Anytime Fitness here in our area. Well, I'm taking classes; he is walking on the treadmill but that is HUGE progress for him. On Mondays, we work on core and leg strength. On Wednesdays, we concentrate on upper body and arms. After class, I join him on the treadmill and "walk for a dog." Must say, I was a little stiff and sore initially. And some of the workouts are difficult as I haven't used those muscles in a long time. I know it will get better.

    Happy Wednesday, everybody.

:D Anne, I am 5'3" tall and got down to 110 pounds....I was ecstatic. Then first my doctor, then the PA I go to for women's health, and then the osteoporosis specialist told me to gain weight for a variety of reasons (bone health, resistance to illness, etc.). I listened to them and now I weigh between 123 and 125 and had to give away all my size 4 jeans. :'(

Good day. Have been walking indoors, and up and down the steps as I try to get a few things accomplished today (and boost that step count). Feels good to move forward even an inch with all the paperwork and clutter that's driving me crazy once again. Getting organized for all the various income tax returns. I am somewhat unsure though where the heck I put the "proof of insurance" document I received. Seems if you are deducting medical premiums that would be good enough. :p Ha. :p Onward.

Also good to see everyone today.......smiling. :D

Happy Wednesday!! :D Babe is in a boot and can get around without any help, thank God.
I have a bone density this afternoon which with my knee surgeries and back surgery doesn't get the best results. Last time they took it from my wrist which was weird to me.
Tonight is bingo and since I haven't been in a while I am looking forward to being with friends.
My weight seems to be at a standstill but I will continue to record and exercise and hopefully by the cruise I will meet my goal. Barbie you are around my height, I used to be 5"4" but now 5"2". I am ten pounds heavier than you thus wanting to lose at least 5 more pounds to bring myself to 129. 125 would be ideal but I just don't think my body will co operate. B)

Connie, thanks for the info on the rescue walking, I have it downloaded and ready to go next time I walk Daisy.

I better get ready for my test, have a good day.

BARBIECAT that seems the perfect weight for you, high 125 lbs. I thought of trying for 128 lbs but I don't think I can stick at that weight. 130 lbs seems perfect for me at 5ft 5in. Unlike you, I've 2 left feet, and I'm totally uncoordinated (got thrown out of my DILs aerobic and line dance classes because everybody else was put off) so alas, unlike you I am not a dancer, but I am pretty energetic like you and wish I still had my lovely lab, Jenny to take for walks with me. I am thinking of taking yoga again. Anyway, just to say I admire you and the way you control your life, and particularly for the dancing.

Barbie - Looks like you did the right thing from everything I have read in the last few years. In fact most say - a few extra pounds has been linked to a longer life.

Thankfully, many experts have followed those studies with an explanation that being "obese" is still bad. There is a huge difference.

Lin - I must say it is hard not to be super impressed by all the work most of the ladies in this group put into staying fit. As for income tax stuff - I always dislike that "gathering" process. Every year I start out somewhat organized and things just seem gravitate back to the nearest "safe place." LOL

    Hi Sneakers

I am going to post a picture of the baby blanket that I finished. It is larger than it looks since I have it folded in half for the picture. I am not a photographer like Bob but I try as best I can.

I often think of a poem my mother had hanging in our home. It was called: "When Will I Learn?" She had a framed "handwritten copy" compliments of my older teenage sister hung on the wall.

I never could confirm if it was written by James Metcalf, but my mother and father both loved it. He was popular in the 40's & 50's.

It fits so many situations in life – and has been inspirational to me several times...even when it came to losing weight.

    Just thought I’d share:

    When Will I Learn?
How many years are left to me, to build
    my life anew?…How many opportunities
    for better things to do?…
    Each day I promise and I say….tomorrow I will start…
And every morning I arise with courage in my heart…
But as the hour strikes again…I linger and delay…
And then before I know it…have lost another day…
When will I learn that time is brief…And as the candles burn…
The minutes vanish from the earth…and they will not return?…
When will I ever overcome…the weaker self in me…
And strive to fashion of my soul…The kind it ought to be?

Lovely poem Bob. Individually, the good folk can only hope to achieve a better understanding and not waste a precious minute of the gift of life, but what about the wicked of the world? Not much chance of them ever learning how precious life and time is, and of course they impact the decent souls. Still, one lives in hope, and wouldn't it be nice if your parents framed handwritten copy was hung in every home.
