Oh Dawn! I wouldn't be able to resist! It's the clearance that is so hard to pass up isn't it? I bought I don't know how many bags of ghiradelli dark choc with peppermint from cvs after Christmas, Put it in the freezer for an occasional treat....yeah right. It was gone within the week. I think I'll just stay clear of the stores this time! Know thyself....

I am not a big chocolate person. I actually have 3 Lindor balls left from Christmas. I gave the bunny my parents got me to my husband. I had one mini cream egg. :)

Now, potato chips and skittles - those I have no impulse control over.

Sorry about your knee @IzzyBooNZ1 seems newbie did well and hurt her aggressor instead of herself  lunges and squats (including single leg squats) strengthen knees but be careful not to aggravate injury. RICE method is probably best for now with some stretching of the quads, hips, hams, calves, and IT bands to keep everything around it from pulling on it. I am not an expert or anything but I have crap knees so I've dealt with this a lot.

That's a butt-ton of yogurt, @canadianlbs ! Butt-ton approx. = 16 kilos in case you were wondering about conversions. Yogurt in ice cube trays is such a good idea.
I made my own homemade quest bar and it looked like a turd. Ate it anyway, tasted like a quest bar shaped like a turd.

    :joy::joy::joy:

thank you ! really appreciate it. I will look up those stretches today

Doh!!! I never learn! Took my teenage son to the bookstore this afternoon and what do they have on clearance at the register??? Ghiradelli chocolate with peppermint bars for $1.00!!! Did I succumb? Of course I did...but only had 2 squares this time. Making my son take the rest to share with his robot team tonight. Weak, I am so weak....

I just bought candy /chocolate that I didn't really like. Still managed to go ape *kitten* on it Sunday night (after I was so proud that I didn't binge at dinner...) but I've dropped the excess off at work and it went pretty quick.

yeah, that's me. chocolate just kind of slid off my radar a few years ago, no idea why. maybe i ought to go ask my doctor.

it's the jelly beans. and the fruit-juice gummy bears. and these things made by rowntree which luckily only a couple of stores import into canada now and again, known as fruit gums . . .

this conversation actually happened at work.

*back story takes you back a few weeks, and starts here. oh, forget it. just try to follow along as best you can.*

we have the two entrenched developers, and now also a drab little new developer dude, with rather special requiremetns from life. this conversation took place with the other Entrenched Developer (non-Scudge). this is the one who looks like an 18th-century naval officer and never makes eye contact with anybody.

    captain bligh: uh lily
    me: yup.
cb: i uh, i was, well, uh - what was all that with dlndd this morning about how we're making coffee these days?
    me: uh, oh right.
cb: i thought i heard . . . are we boiling the water now?
me: no. [deep breath]. we WERE boiling the water, as an experiment on dlndd's behalf, because he -
cb: really? so we are boiling the water then.
banana eater: what? ?? we have to boil the water?
    me: no.
cb: okay. because it just seems weird to me. i mean, why would you . . .
me: hang on, back up. this was just for dlndd. he says he can't drink tap water because he has some kind of ulcer which is caused by some kind of bacterium in it. he says.
cb: really? wow. okay, so we are boiling the water then.
me: no. we tried it, to see if it would fix the issue for him.
    cb: did it?
    me: uh.
    cb: it didn't?
me: uh. well, actually. what he said this morning was not to bother.
    cb: it's no bother, i can do it. it's just . . .
me: no, see. dlndd isn't going to drink it anyway.
banana eater: i don't understand this.
me: i don't blame you. and don't look at me. what he said this morning was, he'd rather not drink it anyway because apparently, according to him, he's also worried about drinking coffee made out of water that was hot when it went into the machine.
    cb: that doens't make sense.
me: i told you. don't look at me. i just report.
banana eater: why would he . . .
me: *bootface* if i understood him right, he's worried about carcinogens.
captain bligh: really? you mean drinking coffee made with hot water gives you cancer?
    me: noooooooo -
    cb: phew
me: well, don't quote me on it. for all i know you're all going to drop dead next year. i'm just telling you why there's no point in boiling the water, because drab little new developer dude wouldn't drink it anyway unless we re-cooled it first too.
cb: well, that's just silly. we're not going to do that.
    me: well, okay den.
cb: i just came to ask because i'm going to make more coffee.

i'm exhausted. a room full of engineers and stap me if we can get a pot of coffee made without a symposium first.

I've been good so far and not bought much candy on clearance (okay one cadbury caramel egg cause I ate one earlier today so what is one more in the house, lol). I'm not a fan of jelly beans though I kinda wanted to try some of the sour ones that were out this year, but resisted. Though I do try to get some non-chocolate candy to have around since I can't have dairy every day and I like candy on a regular basis. Though I did buy an easter stuffed animal on clearance cause it's so cute.

I've just had an off set of like 4 days, well since returning to work from vacation really. Between not enough people scheduled, film cutter not cutting all the way so had to do it by hand, pulling off a command hook on the wall by the sink, scurrying to get things done and that's just the weekend at work. Today I stressed, struggled with dealing with student loan issue, went to bed for an hour before going to work, then forgot sports bra so good thing I didn't have anything jumpy or cardio planned, and I almost walked past the desk when going to the gym where we need to sign in. Almost confused the girl at the desk cause somehow she tried to apologize and I was the one being spacey. Hopefully things get better.

@canadian that dlndd guys sounds like a handful. Wow. I,m both shaking my head and chuckling internatlly at how ridiculous that all is. You really fell in the odd pool. You should come work with us instead! We're cool people! Talk about sports and hockey and cats and cool new gadgets during down times. It's fun! :)

and hang from doorways :D just sayin'.

yeah, oh my lord these people are so not your standard software-development bunch. they're government people who happen to be doing software, and just aware enough of a wider world out there to be flinchy-defensive and keep their ranks slightly closed against external forces like us. the little new developer is downright . . . well, drab. i'm not really one to critique his health stuff - i'm the person who's sickened by a banana peel in the same room with me. but i have other conversation than microbes and the precipitation point of water-soluble chemical particles, at least.

Hey ladies, question. I want to get my knee checked out but trying to decide between a physiotherapist or an osteopath. . What do you think is better? I've never been to an osteopath.
I posted this on another board but looking for more feedback

I went to a physio for my knee a little more than a year ago and he did help in figuring out what was wrong, and the massages seemed to really help (and so did the k-tape lol), but his advice was a little wonky (don't squat past 90 degrees? REALLY?! Not even parallel. 90 DEGREES!). Knee is still improving - a meniscus tear takes forever to heal, apparently - so I have mixed feelings about it.

    Hope that helps?

it might depend on what you think could be wrong. or of concern anyway. idk anything about osteopathy really, but my impression of physio is that it's mostly about soft/connective tissue work. whereas osteo certainly sounds like it's more about bones.

I just force fed myself plain yogurt with 2 scoops of whey protein to hit my macro goal. At first it wasnt so bad but toward the end it felt like I was eating wallpaper paste-blech!

I tried that once, adding protein powder to yogurt (though I have plant based and think it was coconut milk yogurt) and it wasn't very good. Struggled to get it down though I've seen at least one or two body builder guys on youtube state they like whey protein mixed with yogurt but they have a whole lot of yogurt when mixing it. Mine was a little grainy even with just one scoop but it was a small cup of yogurt. I need to find a better protein source cause I get maybe 16 grams of protein from the powder I have now. It helps but would be nice to get over 20.

i'm hearing you guys ;-) i buy something i'll go look up in a second - it has 60 grams per scoop (so they say) and i can still only handle a half-scoop of it. i go for a flavour that isn't too aggressively flavoured, but i have to drown it in yogurt and throw in a handful of berries or other fruit to make it work for my mouth anyway. whey powder always has that faint worrying barf-overtone to it, you know?

and no greek yogurt. that stuff is full of protein but it's so bland . . . it really is like spackle, so it's no help with this specific problem.

edit: six star whey protein plus, elite series. vanilla dream flavour. the cut-price grocery stores around here sell giant jars of it that come up to my knee.

I actually like greek yogurt but I can't have it or whey much. Well, anything dairy based is something I have to limit. So, I have a plant based protein powder, which has less protein than some of the alternatives, unfortunately. I might look into trying a beef protein next or something like that. And I have had vanilla so going for something else next time.

eish. i've got like two pounds of hemp protein powder just sitting on top of my fridge. i was using it in my original smoothie configuration, because um well .. . . there were reasons, i just forget what they were. anyway, it's like trying to drink henna powder and i bought this big stockpile, but then the moment whatever loophole it was opened up that made me feel like i didn't have to keep using the stuff, i grabbed it. it turns kind of bitter after a while too once you mix it up.

not being able to use dairy puts a real complexity into the issue for you. i had this bean-salad thing someone here posted about last summer that i was completely addicted to for a while, if that helps. various beans, juice of one lemon or lime, olive oil, tons of parsley and (if you're me) a bunch of whatever vegetables diced small to give it some sweetness and crunch. mine were fresh sugar peas or just a red/yellow bell pepper or two. i LIVED on that stuff until i dunno, it just kind of passed out of my life somehow. i should go back to it.

I've recently started to have a hard time handling even greek yogurt (lactose has been an issue for a little while, but I used to be able to handle a little every day. For some reason it's just progressively getting worse to the point where I have to stop eating cheese every other day :()) with my current whey which has lactase in it to begin with. However, the taste mixed in with greek yogurt IS out of this world haha. That sixx-star stuff is pretty nasty compared to what I have (but it's also like half the price).

Thankfully I'm also more capable of eating eggs, so I have a bit of a replacement. Always was a big fan of meat, too, so no problem on that front. I'm not yet ready to give up my dairy completely, tho.

I usually only put one scoop of whey protein in full fat plain yogurt (it's EAS Vanilla whey) but I was early off my protein macro last night. I wasn't even hungry but had extra calories left over. I thought, Oh, I'll just put in the whole 2 scoops and that will take care of everything. I think I will try harder today to get my protein in other ways!

^^^Krokador, have you tried kefir for dairy? It's a fermented dairy product and the lactose is supposedly eaten up by the kefir grains (culture). People who are lactose I tolerant can usually have kefir, so I hear. I have kefir smoothies every day. With whey protein

I had a dream I bought two massive tubs of protein, like the size of oil tanks. I portioned it out to my neighbors in gallon-size Ziplocks.
