I attempted W6D3 today, but couldn't complete it. I think I've had to take too many days off and my willpower just wasn't there. I kept having to slow to a walk. I probably would have skipped today too (like I said, my willpower is shot) except that 1) I had a big lunch and needed the calories so I can eat dinner; and 2) we have another spring storm headed our way and I may not be able to run outside again until next week unless want to get out there and run in the wet and cold.
Bad runs happen, do not worry. We need them to appreciate the good ones0 -
Good morning! I've been lurking on this forum for a little while now I've been cycling for years and have always wanted to incorporate running into my routine since it has an effect on my everyday life, plus it can be done with little to no special equipment.
Started C25K on the 20th and just did Week 2, Day 2 yesterday. Feeling stronger than ever! Today is a rest day for me but I'll be doing W2D3 tomorrow after work and I'm thinking about repeating one more day of week 2 on the weekend before heading into Week 3 on Monday.
For those of you that think you're too heavy to start, I'm currently about 245 lbs and yes, it is tough but you will push through it if you get your mind in the right place. Yesterday's "run" was a great confidence booster, as I saw my average speed naturally go up and I pushed through on a day that I would much rather have eaten dinner and gone to sleep early. Anyway, just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. There's a lot of awesomeness going on in this thread
Welcome and enjoy the journey!1 -

Running in the rain can be refreshing, but not the cold rain. Hope you find your willpower soon!0 -
Hi all! I'm new here, but it's nice to be able to talk about my newest obsession. Although he is very supportive, I'm sure my husband is tired of hearing about C25K lol
Anyway, I finished week 2 yesterday and I'm feeling great. In fact, my phone died on me during one of my runs this week and I had run way longer than the 90 seconds before I realized that it was not going to tell me to start walking lol That gives me confidence that I can keep going!
Well, my husband is not interested in my running so I am grateful to mfp too!
Welcome aboard - this will be fun! Do you have a race in your mind yet?0 -
Finished w4d3 today. Started out rough... my right leg was bothering me a bit at first, but it loosened up eventually and I was able to run the prescribed 3-5-3-5. Added a couple more minutes during cooldown. Felt mostly like a lumbering elephant for most of my run, but eh.2

@RespectTheKitty Every once in a while I have a Calf that will Moan and Groan at me when I start out, I have learned to just slow down the pace a bit and it slowly relaxes/loosens up and then I can get back up to my normal pace.0 -
Finished today! So proud of myself. Looking forward to starting C210K on Monday.8

Heading out for my first 28 minute run today-fingers crossed! I seem to be losing my motivation a bit, but my race in is 5 weeks and I'm not at 3K yet, so I know I need to stay focused! (Yes, that's over 15min/mile, but I'm still putting one foot in front of the other!!)1

Today I did week 5 day 1 and I just felt great. I felt like I could run a lot longer than I did. As it turns out, I added on one extra 5-minute run interval to the end of the workout.1

W2D2 completed this morning! I am so pumped! I have never been so motivated in my life!! I am doing every other day. Anyone else do every ther day or are most of you only doin 3 days in a week with 2 consecutive days off once during the week? I figured if for some reason I have to repeat a day or two I won't fall too far behind the 9 week mark.
I can't believe how fast 90 seconds goes when I'm running. I can't believe I'll be doing 3 mins and 5 mins within the next couple weeks! Crazy! Scary! Exciting!!2 -

Same @rnurse82 . I swear I could hear the Rocky theme song during my last sprint! W2D1 C25K as well as Wk2D1 Insanity are in the books. Feeling awesome.

Hey we are on the same schedule!0 -
Decided to get back into running again so I started with W1D1 yesterday and felt pretty good. I feel like I could skip to 2nd week but given that I'm starting fastball again very soon, it's better not to push it too much too soon!1

To Everyone in this group who worries that they are slow.
And what each and everyone of us need to help improve our running.

I just got started on Sunday... did my first go around about 5 years ago but didn't finish. I've made good progress with other weight loss and fitness goals the past year+ and feel like I'm ready to tackle this again.
Quick question about pace... I'm using the app and going by time and not distance but using MapMyFitness simultaneously to give me an idea on distance and pace. When I finish the 30 minutes I am at about 2.5 miles, which is a little short of the 5K and my pace for the 2nd mile which would be the alternating run/walk is about 10:20 min/mile. I'm average height (5'10"), so not sure if my stride isn't long enough or if I need to bump up the pace.
I've seen other posts on this group not to worry about pace, so I'm not... but at the same time, I don't want to get finished with the program and not be able to actually finish a 5K.0 -
@rusgolden The purpose of the program is to build endurance. Don't worry about pace. Speed will come as you run more.1

I went back to Week 6 Day 1 today. The first run was pretty tough, but after that it got a bit easier. Of course, the 2nd half is always easier for me because it's down hill. It's been over a week since I was able to get out and do a C25k run. I had a few days with little to no exercise due to "life" and then bad weather kept me inside on the treadmill. Plus, my last run (W6D3) before the days off didn't go well and I ended up walking several times. So, I didn't think I was ready to go on to week 7. I decided the best course was just to repeat all of week 6.
@rusgolden : I did C25k last fall on the treadmill and "graduated" without coming anywhere near a 5k distance after trying before but failing. I was almost certainly trying to run too fast. The best advice is don't worry about your pace because if you try to go too fast then you're more likely to not finish at all. But, it did bug me that I didn't know how to get from being able to run for 30 minutes straight to being able to run 5k. The timed program doesn't have a provision for that.
I'm doing it all over again now, outside, using rundouble so that I can use distance, not time. It's harder (hills), the runs take me a little longer (today's run, with warm-up and cool down, took me over 40 minutes), but when I finish I'll be able to run a 5k that has a 200+ foot elevation gain.2 -
Week 4 day 2 done. I ran outside for the first time and I did better than I thought I'd do. I finished the whole run with 12:17min/mile average pace, including warmup and cooldown. Not the fastest runner in the world but I am so proud of myself2

I'm over here on W2D3 and according to mapmyrun did a 17 min mile! (Jog/walk) I am wayyyy behind you guys hahaha I know speed will come. Plus we live in the mountains so it's hard work lol

Thanks @Just_Ceci and @NancyN795... For now I will just focus on getting through the program. If I'm still short of the 5K, I'll go back a couple weeks and repeat them for distance. I still think this is a good training program and not as concerned about finishing in 8 weeks. But for now, it is one week, one day at a time.1

Loving all the scenery posts too Aine8046! Spring is definitely in the air.
Just came back from a long weekend away in Munich and Salzburg where I did a lot of walking. My left foot was playing up but didn't want 6 days to go by without doing W7 D2 (did D2 5 days ago) so forced myself to get up and run. I completed the run but found it was the hardest run so far. I'm not sure if it was because of all the walking I did or if my indulgence this weekend affected me but will monitor D3's run to see how I get on. For now I am happy with myself for completing W7 D2.1 -
Did w5d2 today. You know what that means.... w5d3 is next (shudder).1

@RespectTheKitty You are ready for this! Just slow down and keep telling yourself you can do it!0
