    Hi all!
I'm Micki. I'm 49(well... i'll be 49 in a couple weeks anyway), divorced but reconciled and again living with my "wasband" (he was my husband but now he's not... get it?), son and 2 doggies. Our son is 9 years old (10 in October! STOP the growing kid!) and step-mom/grandma to a 34 y.o. son, his wife and twin 6 y.o. boys and a 2 y.o. princess. (That always sounds so much worse when I say it out loud).

In Feb. 2016 my "wasband" was hospitalized due to his inability to control his blood sugars (poor lifestyle choices play a huge part in this). He's been diabetic for 25 years and he just doesn't take care of it. His health scare really gave me pause. Our son doesn't deserve to have 2 unhealthy parents!

I have been fat or obese or whatever you want to call it pretty much my entire adult life, but by His grace have not had the health issues that customarily go along with it. After seeing the severity of Bear's illness, I decided to take control of my weight (and health) and began a LC lifestyle. I've lost 65 pounds and am working toward the rest as we speak. I am looking more to a healthy BF% than a number on the scale, so I have about 13% BF left to lose.

I am so far from perfect when it comes to this WOE/WOL. I hope to find others who are as imperfect on this journey as I.

To answer some of your questions -

    1. Go to exercise: walking... with or without my pups. Gives me time to clear my head and not say something I'll regret to my guys.
    2. Friends: I am friendly with most anyone (meaning I'll accept most friend requests, with exceptions)... but unfriend those who prove to be too needy or critical.
    3. Animal: butterfly
    4. Recipe: saute of shrimp and zoodles... easy, quick and yummy.
    5. Motivation: getting and staying healthy for me, and so my son has a mom to annoy him for a long time to come.
    6. Country/City: I'm a city girl who would move to the country in a heartbeat... it just isn't feasible for the family right now.
    7. Go back: there isn't enough money in the world that would convince me to go back.
    8. Move: Anywhere that I could wake up to the sounds of waves lapping the beach.
    9. Fave LCHF Veggies: zucchini, mushrooms and cabbage
    10. Fave book: this is a tough one... I am not a truly avid reader, but will start a book and if it doesn't keep my interest I'll just move on to the next one. I enjoy non-fiction bios/autobios too.
    11. What is your favorite season/month?: LOVE LOVE LOVE fall. The smells, the sights. Love it.
    12. Improvise or plan? Planning makes my brain feel better. I just wish I was more diligent about it.

My question to you all - If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

I would want to meet my dad's mother. She raised 12 children (10 boys!) during The Great Depression with a mostly absentee father.

won't be running today - I have the absolute worst gut ache in the history of ever - started about 5am and still going on. Feel like I've been grabbed by the intestines and flung around. Literal pain not "oh I feel ill" pain. Ugh ugh ugh

I sure hope your gut ache goes away soon... only a toothache is worse than a gut ache that you can't resolve, IMHO.

Good question! Besides wanting to meet you crazy lot, I would love to meet Queen Elizabeth the First. She is my favourite monarch and I absolutely love that time period in history. Growing up, I read a lot of books on Tudor England and she was the one I really felt drawn to.

My answer is Nikola Tesla. His genius is under-appreciated by society today, and I would like an opportunity to learn from him.

My son did a "wax museum" report on Tesla last year for 3rd grade end of the year "here's what we learned" night as school... just by way of helping my boy research Tesla, I have to agree with you... he is quite fascinating... and I wouldn't mind joining in that meeting :)

I'd want to meet Marilyn Monroe. I have been a fan since I was in my early teens, in fact I'm a fan of the whole 50's thing - I've often thought I was born in the wrong era, and I should have been a teen in the 50's, not the 80's...

    Morning everyone!!
    It's Try it Again Tuesday!!!

Is there something that you tried before and either loved it but didn't follow through with doing it? Or found it too difficult and left it behind?

Think of something that fits either of those scenarios and give it a go again! For me it was circuit training. I loved doing that way back when I had lost a bunch of weight. So... I'm challenging myself to get out there at some point and give it another go.

Have a great day out there today!

Welcome! I had a husband who was similar at one point but will never be a wasband! It's truly over. He has CHF, Diabetes, cardiomegaly and a host of other stuff and refused to take care of himself, take his meds, excersize, eat right, etc. For a nurse to watch that and not be able to do anything about it? I was dying inside and finally had to give the ultimatum - take care of yourself or leave because in this state you aren't taking care of your family. He chose to leave. Interestingly I was more ok with it than I thought I'd be.

I would want to meet Edgar Allen Poe. He has fascinated me since I was a child and can read his works over and over.

I can't really decide who I'd like to meet...Honestly I'm afraid meeting people I admire in person might ruin them for me. I think sometimes you admire the idea of person more than you'd admire the real person...More so that meeting someone from the past I would like to be able to just jump around through time and experience different eras and see what life was like for various groups of people around the world.

Person I'd like to meet... Maybe one of my ancestors who decided to immigrate to Canada. I'd love to have a good ol' chat with them and find out why they moved, what their family was like, etc.. I'm absolutely fascinated with genealogy.

I took boxing lessons in a real boxing club for a few months. It was across the street from my old job and I used to go there after hours when nobody else was there but me and the trainer... Unfortunately all the skip rope jumping and jumping jacks that they implement into a work out was too high impact for my SI joint, but I absolutely LOVED it. The adrenaline rush was SO addictive.

    Morning all!
    It's work out Wednesday!!

I've been trying to set up my calendar to include exercise and meal plans... More of a project than I thought! Of course I can't do anything simply!! Lol.
Scale slipped down a tad bit more for me today! We are on speaking terms again.

I'm shooting for another day of circuit training. There are muscles inside me screaming bloody murder, but I'm silencing them with tiger balm and pushing on.

What does your exercise for today include?

I love that you've kept this thread going! I will find time to walk today - I am going to try to get out before I have to take kids to school, but mornings are hectic and it may not pan out... I do have a "walk and talk" therapy appointment at 10 so if nothing else I'll get in a couple miles then but other than that I'm not sure since it's set to be another 108 degree day!

I already met one of the people on my list a few years back. Got to meet Jamie Lewis at a powerlifting meet in Myrtle Beach. For one that I haven't yet, it's a tough call between Ed Coan, Stan Efferding, Konstantin Konstantinovs, and Kirk Korwaski.

I don't have any exercise planned today... I'm at work now. Afterwards, I'm going to do laundry and work on the final project for a class (due Sunday). I'm 80% done now and hope to be almost done after tonight. Also, I'm going to watch the new Suits episode.

I agree with @Phrick - this thread and the NSV one are my favourites these days :)

No exercise for me today either - so I'll work out my brain at the office instead. Good thing I got my MCT oil in already.

Am having dinner out tonight and spent last night on the Jack Astor's website which very kindly provides the nutritional info in a very accessible way. I learned some things! Like somehow they've managed to stuff 29 g of carbs into a Caesar salad for which they do not list croutons as an ingredient! And its something like 850 calories. So I'm giving that a miss! I was surprised to find that some things I thought sounded fairly low carb, weren't. So its going to be the standard bunless burger and their Meditteranean side salad. I really don't enjoy eating out as much as I used to!

Exercise today includes lifting at the gym. I'm on my way right now. On the menu today is squats, bench press, and barbell row.

But first....coffee. I have waited outside Starbucks, waiting for it to open every day this week because I need coffee before my morning workout lol. I used to work for them, and it's true what they say...when you leave the green siren, you never really leave! :'(

Got a walk in before sunrise because when I checked the forecast it is supposed to be almost 100 by the time my appointment rolls around.... nope. So nearly 40 min walk in the cool pre-dawn, it was.

Today is rest day. I was walking everyday, but my old SI joint injury has been flaring up worse and worse, so now I'm walking every other day to give it time to calm down before the next walk... Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays...

    @Phrick & @ambergem1969 thanks! I'll keep going as long as I can!

Sounds like we are all pretty busy today! I had originally planned on doing circuit training tonight but I pretty much already did it at work this morning. The kids wanted to exercise so we got the cards out and we did a bunch of those, squats, jumps, switch lunges, toe touches etc. then followed up with some dancing!! Phew!

So now I'm debating on just yoga and maybe some arm exercises instead.... I'll debate it. Lol.

I have to find time to exercise today... for my body and my brain... my day is very full... I may be at the gym at 9pm doing some form of exercise... but it will happen!

So I have a confession to make: I have never really watched Seinfeld before. I bring this up because my boyfriend and his mother had been watching it while I came over and while I kind of know about it...I have never really sat down and watched it. Do you guys like it? If so, what episodes do you suggest I watch?

I can't stand Seinfeld. Couldn't stand it when it was on 20 years ago and can't stand it in reruns now. Just never quite got it.

Gaaaah, why did I have to jump in here? Just the mention of Seinfeld makes my *kitten* clench, it's so awful......it's absolutely NOT in The Office league @samanthaluangphixay
Have you ever watched Parks and Recreation?

LOL! I love Seinfeld, Friends, Fraser, Mad About You, Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother... pretty much all sitcoms in that vein... and can't stand the office or P&R or anything that style... I have a theory that I'm missing the awkward humour gene... I try to like it but it's not funny to me at all, yet so many people love it...

WHEW it slayed! But i love it! I use my little weights (3/5/8 lb) but i think I might need to go up and buy 10 lb weights. Baby steps!
