ANNE, I hope the cough disappears quickly so your ribs don't hurt! Rest as much as possible!
SANDY, no, it wasn't imagination, my 1st post disappeared after I changed the webpage, and later returned! So I rewrote it, and the next time I went back, both were there, I tried to delete one but ended up editing it by backspacing , went crazy when they asked if I wanted to "save" it (where?) and today , there is the first one, + #2, + the link! It's done that twice this week!
Aha, the thunder is starting up, so I'd better log off. We are celebrating Spanish week tonight in the Lobby, so I will see if Mike would enjoy it. He gets very bored in his room , sleeping in front of his TV!

Well ladies, I will be leaving for Florida in the morning and will be there through the weekend. My brother, who has been ill for some time, passed away late last night. I think I'm going to give myself a break from the computer while I'm visiting with family.
    Wishing everyone a blessed week.

A gorgeous, gorgeous day and because so many local people thought it perfect to walk their dogs our journey across the moor took nearly twice as long because we stopped to chat to everyone while dogs played. Every breed seemed to be there and all so friendly, many of them rescued dogs from some awful situations. Even grumpy George ran and played with a couple of them!

Sandy ~ In the photo Boris is the big black bruiser and Brady the kitten discovered lost on the moor a couple of months ago. He's about 6 months old now. If I could, I'd register Boris with MFP and log his food because he's close to 7 kilos and I can't blame that on his thick coat! He's 19 years old and suffers with arthritis so of course the weight doesn't help but he goes next door to eat if I try to cut his portions down and although I'm doing my best to get liquid glucosamine into his system he knows something has been added to his food so eats round it!

Anne ~ Hopefully you're feeling better today and not coughing too much.... a good way to spread on to someone else and therefore shake it off!! :o

My plan for today is gardening and more gardening, making the most of the warm sunshine.

I'm finally beginning to feel like my old self, so the bean and I have just got in from a long, long walk, which like you JACKIE, we had to stop and talk to all our doggie friends because today we are told is the last hot day of summer and everyone seemed to be out and about. We met among others Amy, Mabel, Rheilly, and Trouble, all who Jilly really loves, and then the 3 of us owners did a sharp across the road when two tubby, baying beagle brothers headed our way with owner in tow. Everyone avoids the beagle boys, and when I pass their house, they sit in the bay window and howl. I bet the owner will never have a break-in whilst those two live with her.
So feeling much better I guess I really should do a bit of weeding today. Jill helps. As I pull the weeds, she grabs them and gallops off with them. Very helpful, our Jilly!
Anne. Have a glorious last fling in the sunshine, if like me, you can.

Sorry I missed yesterday. I put off leaving home and had to make the trip yesterday because I was completely out of coffee and a few other items. Today, I've just returned from the vet for annual vaccinations on five of our cats. And I am exhausted! Next year, I'll call it 'time for the roundup'!! I'm not a morning person, so I plan to take a nap.
Jackie, for liquids, I put half the dose on a saucer, then pour a fishy liquid over it. Only a teaspoon or less. Then the dose is delivered twice a day. The trick is to leave them wanting more. I hope.
Marie, did you get Honey Crisp apples? They are good ones. I'm glad your heel seems to be well now. Is it still hurting?
Buzz, I'm glad Mike has you to get him out a bit sometimes. I'm glad you get out too. Are you still working at reception?
Lin, I guess you are having another busy day. I bought a small rice cooker/steamer. It arrived yesterday, but I haven't tried it. I'm looking forward to some steamed vegetables.
Sandy, I know you pool is closed, hope you will enjoy the rest of the warm weather. That's tough that babe has to wait.,
I must be dosing, I keep posting this and half to edit it.
Anne, so glad you are feeling better, (Jillie is glad too)

Happy Thursday! :) I did not win at bingo but have decided to go to Wisconsin with my friends. We leave Monday and I think we return the following Monday. I know we will have fun even though I think a week might be too long. I am not going to visit my kids until after the new year so thought this would be a good time to get away before the dreaded winter comes.
I have my meeting today and then tonight have to take everything off my balcony for the balcony to be stained tomorrow. My landlady and the handyman will be here at 8 AM which I am not thrilled. Entertaining my landlady is not what I like to do first thing in the morning but she wants to oversee everything he is doing.

Anne, glad to read you are feeling better and Jilly was able to have a long walk with her visiting buddies.

Alice, thank you for the beautiful morning greeting.

Phoebe, you are a great fur mommy and take such good care of your critters. Maybe it would be easier to have a vet come to your house. lol

Jackie, Boris is beautiful just the way he is and at 19 I think he deserves to eat whatever he wants.

Marie, I am so happy your foot is finally healed and each day you get stronger.

    Have a wonderful day!
    Sandy

We've just been for another long walk, the Bean and I. We are making hay whilst the sun shines.
However, what I really am posting about is that on our walk we met a man walking a small white poodle.
"My dog is named Jilly Bean" he said, "what's your dogs name"?
Every time we said "Jilly Bean sit", both dogs sat. Every time I told MY pest not to bark at passing squirrels, both little dogs looked at me. Hilarious. Small things amuse me!
    Anne.
  • Oh Anne, that's Amazing, two Jilly Beans in the same neighborhood! And both so attentive! Now, tell me the man is from England, and I'll go back to sleep, Must be dreaming!

A foggy day here. But there is much to be done today. I will be going to Costco tomorrow and at the top of my list is a bunch of their lovely yellow and orange roses. So unusual and they cheer up the house and also John and me. I know these big box stores put the local florists out of business. But the thing is, the florists had to charge such high prices that we would rarely buy any fresh cut flowers.

I brush Katie twice a week, nothing too long or extensive. A little 15 minute brush-brush-done! Now she sits calmly waiting for her hair appointment and of course the treat. Not that it lasts very long, during the few minutes that she is brushed, she looks rather regal.

I have been using the technique I saw on YouTube for going to sleep fast. It is by Dr. Weil. Just a little yoga technique. It works for me. I have had difficulty sleeping all my adult life. I hope this continues to work!

Interesting new issue of National Geo. it is on the horrible rhino horn trade and a huge article on immigration. Just a side note here. Locally we had recently welcomed 3 new citizens. All from Mexico and all young women. One works in the kitchen of our favorite restaraunt, one is a cleaner in a hotel and one works in the local fish processing plant. Since this little Oregon town is populated mainly by grey-haired citizens, we are glad to see the young healthy hard-working new citizens. We have our share of crime, make no mistake. Our world is changing. I get a bit nervous about it but I think it is really quite wonderful.

PHOEBE, the other Jilly Beans owner was maybe of East Indian descent, but he could well be from England as well, because Canada is a nation of new arrivals and many drop off in England before arriving here, like my lovely Croatian neighbours and on the other side Reilly's owners from Holland and Germany respectively. Luckily we all speak a common language otherwise it would be bedlam for the dogs!
Jilly Bean number 1 (because she is older) was originally just Jilly, but, the same as MY Jilly, each of our sons added the Bean. Bean number one is pure white and my Bean is pure black with a tiny white patch on her chest.
    Small world isn't it!

Hello - each time I start to write something seems to interfere! Maybe this time ...

Jackie, I am sorry your gardener isn't very faithful with his visits. He's really independent. I hope you didn't overdo it today. I am sure you made good use of the sunshine. I love both your kitties by the way. The photo was lovely.

Alice, thanks for the lovely wishes. :)

Anne, glad you are starting to feel better. Is your son on the mend as well? Sounds like some lovely walks today with plenty of visiting. I am amazed that there are two Jilly Beans in your neighborhood!!!

Phoebe, I Hope you like your steamer. I have lots of different cooking appliances etc but I think the Instant Pot is about my favorite with the Vitamix in close second place. :D That trip to the vet was HUGE. I don't think I could do it. Wow!!

Sandy, have a wonderful trip!!!! We'll look forward to hearing all about it when you return. Meanwhile, take lots of deep breaths while your landlady is there tomorrow. <3

Patsy, enjoy your trip to Costco. There is always so much to look at in the store. Earlier this week I walked all over the place but didn't buy a thing which is quite unusual.

I spent the morning at the library with the ladies and today it was mostly conversation about Scamp travel trailers, different vacation spots that people like and over in the corner was a heated political conversation (not my thing!!). I listened to a webinar on osteoporosis this afternoon and then got all wound up in a 500 piece puzzle.

It's the Beatles #1 hits montage. Loved it so I did not stop until it was complete.

Happy Friday! :) As you know I am not a morning person but got up at 7:15 so I would be ready for my landlady and handyman at 8:00. The boards are to wet from the rain so it is rescheduled for Monday. Bummer! In the meantime my apartment looks like this:
    c8bj40wj81m9.jpg
    4yx18mr7mk8u.jpg
The handyman said that he can do it from the outside, he will just use a ladder to get up on the balcony. I am sure my landlady will still come to check his work which means she will come into my place when I am not home since I am leaving Monday. I also have my cleaning girl scheduled to come Monday but waiting for an answer if she wants to reschedule. Such confusion but the good news is he fixed my towel rack which was coming off the wall.

Marie, glad you "old folks" are going to bed early and getting some rest. This "old folk" stays up too late which is a habit hard to break.

Buzz, I will be going to Florida next Spring. With the new baby coming in January I want to be around in case I am needed. So far all is well and we will know more after the next ultrasound October 25. Glad Mike was able to enjoy his evening with you.

Lin, my goodness, how do you do these puzzles so fast? If you notice my puzzle in above picture I still haven't made much progress.

Anne, so the Jilly's are like salt and pepper? So cute!!

Patsy, do you want to share the yoga that helps you sleep?

Have a great day, I see a nap in my near future.

    Sandy

    Hello,

I spent the last two days with Isaac and it was so much fun. He is so busy now and constantly in motion. He is showing he wants to be independent by not taking his mom and dad's hand so they
have to keep him in the backyard. He loves going to the park and doesn't want to come home.
I remember those days and now I can say bye bye until the next visit. :D He is so sweet and gives kisses all the time. I will post a picture when its in drop box.

I have my first apt. for the Diet clinic at the end of October. So I have some time with this 1200 calorie program to take weight off. I was off of it for two days when visiting but now back at it. My oldest daughter sent me another book called Intuitive Eating for me to read.

Today was Yoga class and now going shopping to KMart to buy more blankies and a gate for Isaac. He is coming for a visit next Wednesday and staying overnight. We have two sets of stairs for him to climb so we need a gate to keep him put. Our company is coming on Tuesday so I am planning on making some chili and homemade soup.

Marcella - Sorry for the loss of your brother.
Sandy - Good luck with the handyman and landlady fixings.
Buzz - Glad to hear Mike was out and about and enjoyed himself.
Alice - Hello and thanks for the graphic, very motivating.
Lin- Great puzzle about the Beatles, one of my favorite groups.
Anne - Good to hear you are on the mend. We passed through Oakville yesterday
    going home
    and thought of you.
Jackie - Your kitties are adorable and Boris looks like he's the boss.

    Shirley

  • Buzz, you are right. I slept a Whole Lot yesterday. I feel better today. I was up at 7am again, to the vet, but not so tired now.
If I sit too long, I still get sleepy, lol.
Eye exams for us this afternoon.
Sandy, if my place looked that good, I'd be very happy! I have too many glider chairs, and they keep getting scooted around.
    Hi to everyone, be safe.
