Congratulations @wantoldme! I'm just over 5 weeks pregnant now. It's all happened so fast, it hasn't quite sunk in yet.

Congrats @Megliveken!!! So happy for you. I know it hasn't sunk in for me either.

How is everyone doing? How are your weekends going?

Things are pretty good on my end. Yesterday we went to an event. Today is just errands and relaxing. The weather is definitely getting colder. I wouldn't mind skipping winter. Haha

PREGNANT!! I finally got a positive test on Friday morning. I took another that afternoon and a different brand test Saturday morning just be sure, and they were all positive. This finally explains what has been going on with me the last several weeks. I called the doctor to get an appointment for the official test. The nurse called me back and went ahead and scheduled me for a dating ultrasound this Wednesday AM and a doctor appointment with an OB next Monday. The assumption is that I'm actually decently far into the first trimester since my last period was August 25.

    Thanks ladies!!!

Hubby was in shock and disbelief at first just because of how long this has been going on. He asked if I read the test correctly because he was so surprised. Now he is in research and planning mode. He is holding off the excitement until after the ultrasound because he still doesn't quite believe it. He has been more snugly and affectionate since I told him though.

@puffbrat HOLY CRAP YAY!!! Congratulations!!!!! Let us know what the doctor says!! I wonder how far along you are? You might be farther along than me!! You might even be nearly entering your second trimester. WOW!!!!

So then... is everyone who was actively trying now pregnant? Because that's kinda cool :)

Sorry I was so quiet lately. I took a much needed little 4 day stay-cation this weekend and slept and slept haha.

Thanks @VeryKatie!! I should find out how far along I am at the ultrasound tomorrow morning or in my appointment with the OB Monday morning.

The doctor's office did call a little while ago to confirm that the lab test I took was positive. Yay!!

@puffbrat I can't wait to hear what your doctor says :) It's so exciting for you! You might hear the heartbeat!!!

On another note, my boss is being silly again. He's being much more gentle and less forceful with it after my multiple discussions with him, but he was like "Can you travel this weekend?" Luckily I was like "Well... remember that seminar you forced me to plan? That's this weekend so ideally I'd like to be there since I'm the one running the thing. And... you are also registered for that seminar..." And he was like "oh yeah... good point... I will try to cancel the trip" lol.

So I have my doctor's appt to try to hear the heartbeat (and to discuss some labs) booked on Tuesday. So I have preemptively switched the appt to Monday (21st) in case he makes me travel on Tuesday the 22nd (most flights are Tuesday and Thursdays). And I have the cable company coming to the house on Monday afternoon, so I couldn't take a convenient lunch appointment with the doctor. My husband wants to come to this one so now he has to miss an hour (hopefully only an hour) of work on Monday (luckily I have it off).

I hope I don't have to travel, but at least I'm ready for it if I do! If I do, I'm hoping for a Tuesday - Thursday trip. Back in time for MIL's birthday party! Where there will be the most delicious sandwich in the world...

I've been very happy to be pregnant lately. I was still losing weight even though I was eating 2000 calories a day (though truthfully it's hard to break diet mentality so I wasn't quite reaching 2000), so this weekend I just went for it hahah. Now I'm up 0.8 lbs from my pre-preg weight (though I'm sure some is water). Which means I can happily eat that sandwich too. Not looking forward to losing weight later... It's nice to be at maintenance (which is why I actually recommend a true maintenance break to anyone who is struggling to lose right now).

One of my best friend's just had a baby on Nov. 5 and I got to meet the little guy this weekend. He was so precious. And I was afraid to hold him (I did but I couldn't shift him around lol) haha. Also my co-worker's wife had their second baby on Nov. 11. Her middle name is Poppy and I just thought that was sooooo cute! I was in charge of running the baby-pool for his baby at work too. Which I felt like a hypocrite (or something) doing since I am going to be next and I knew it... but no one else was starting it despite many people suggesting it. And... then I went and won the pool too hahah. Oh man. Oh well.. I guess that's just how it goes...

I feel like I'm going into too much detail... please tell me if I'm ever getting annoying!

How is everyone doing with their goals? American Thanksgiving is coming up, right (Don't mind me as I call it "American" hahah. I am just used to differentiating since Canada's was in October)? Do people have plans? @Megliveken do you have anything similar to Thanksgiving in Australia?

@VeryKatie Your boss seems like quite the uh...character. I hope he doesn't make you travel but at least you are ready for it just in case. How far along are you now?

You're going to hear the heartbeat!! That's so exciting!!!

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the pregnancy! =)

Wow lots of new babies in your life! haha That's awesome that you won the pool!

There is no such thing as too much detail. I love details! and you've never been annoying. Why don't they let us underline text? I need that option. haha but pretend that last statement there is underlined for emphasis.

As far as my goals go, November has just been trying different things to see what works since clearly what I was doing before wasn't or I just can't get my head back in the game maybe a combination of both. I think the week for Thanksgiving will be my maintenance break. It's November 24th and I'll be spending the day at my parents. My mom has to work that day at 2 p.m. so our dinner will actually be lunch. haha I'm still looking forward to it though!

I don't know if anyone watched/watches Gilmore Girls here but the Netflix premiere is the day after Thanksgiving and I can't wait! Hopefully they don't screw it up. haha

@VeryKatie We don't really do thanks giving here. Next major event will be Christmas Eve/Christmas.

Sorry if I'm a bit quite lately, my husband and I are on a holiday at the moment, and we don't have much internet/phone connection... Heading home tomorrow.

I'm really thinking of following up with my doctor about at least doing some blood tests soon as this pregnancy doesn't feel real yet and if I wait until he's said to come back for bloods and scans I'll be 11-12 weeks pregnant already.

@WifiresGettingFit Yeah my boss can be kind of crazy. It would be nice if I could find a new job while I was on maternity/parental leave... I'm 10 weeks along today. So I will be almost 11 weeks for when we try to hear the heartbeat. Ah I have a friend who has been trying to rewatch all the Gilmore Girls before the new mini season comes out! The photos are really pretty. I like watching the show once in a while, never really got hooked on it though (apparently I'm the black sheep in the family since my mom and sister both got hooked).

@Megliveken it does seem like the doctors make you actually ASK for things before they do them! It's really weird. Mine didn't say anything about a heartbeat, I had to ask for my prenatal blood panel... it's like she assumes I'm fine with coming in every week, which I'm not. Let's combine some of these into one appointment please!! It's weird that they expect me to know what is supposed to happen when it's my first pregnancy. I keep having to look everything up online. Quite annoying. How is your vacation?? I could really use one of those right now. Where are you visiting?

@Megliveken I hope you're enjoying your time away!

@VeryKatie 10 weeks! That is so exciting! I'm excited for your appointment! haha
I've already watched the whole series a couple times now since they put it on Netflix but before that I think I only watched it here and there when I was with my cousin who was the one that introduced me to it. Now it's mostly just background noise because I've seen it so much and don't have to watch it closely to know what's going on. haha

There is no such thing as too much detail. I love details! I second this. Let us live vicariously through you, and plus I need someone to talk to about Baby stuff!! Also 10 weeks, squee! How are you feeling Katie, any new symptoms? Please keep telling every detail. You too puffbrat, how did your appointment go?

Big news for me: I got disability insurance benefits! Apparently there was a loop hole with my promotion they had to accept me for a short window, a d I snuck my application in at the right time. I didn't know about the loophole, so that was just lucky timing. Yay! 6 weeks leave at 60% pay is Better than nothing, plus the money Ive put aside can be saved for baby as well instead of my missing pay whole I'm on maternity leave.

It's open enrollment season here, and hubby wanted to change insurance companies. We has Kaiser Permanente, and now we are getting Aetna, so now I have to find all new doctors. He didn't realize I already had my birth team all picked.out...heh.

@Kirstie155 that's great news!! Yay for loopholes!!
Is Aetna better than your previous insurance? I forget what my boyfriend had before but he has Aetna now and the insurance he had before was better. That sucks to have to get all new doctors.

That's really exciting @VeryKatie!!! And I agree that there's no such thing as too many details! Your boss sounds like an interesting character. I hope you don't have to travel, but at least your appointment is one day sooner.

@Kirstie155 That's awesome that you were able to get the disability insurance benefits!! That must be a huge relief.

Sorry - this will be long because it was quite the day yesterday and I really need to get it out.

My appointment yesterday was a huge mix of emotions with neither a positive nor negative outcome. The doctors really struggled to see anything on the ultrasound and when they finally did about 45 minutes later, it was just a tiny speck. Even though my last period was August 25, they said they think I am only 2 weeks along. That was based on the size of the fetus which was too small to measure and the fact that the pregnancy test I took at home on October 28 was negative. While they said being 2 weeks is the most likely scenario, there is also chance that it is an ectopic/out-of-uterus pregnancy or miscarriage situation. They worked really hard to comfort me and reassure me that they truly believe it is just a really early pregnancy, but I still left the office confused and frustrated with my body, and just overwhelmed.

In an effort to be proactive and not me make wait until the next schedule ultrasound on December 14 for any new information, they are doing blood tests for hormone levels. I did the first yesterday before leaving the office and will do the second tomorrow morning. They said the hormone level should ideally double in 48 hours, but definitely increase, for a normal pregnancy. If it stays the same or decreases, then it is a miscarriage. The nurse called yesterday afternoon to reschedule the appointment with OB on Monday that they had canceled while I was in the office. Thankfully this very sweet woman had also looked up my blood test result before calling. She said my hormone level for the first test was really good. For a 2-3 week pregnancy, it should be in the 100-5000 range and mine was 1000. Now we just want to see it go higher on Friday.

So now I have to do blood work tomorrow. Meet with the OB Monday morning when I will get the test result, and have another ultrasound and appointment with the OB in mid-December when they believe I will be 6 weeks.

In the meantime I'm totally freaked out about a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. They told me what symptoms to watch for and made sure I had the phone number and knew the location of the OB Triage clinic. They said not only can I go there if something goes wrong or I think something is wrong, but I can call and just ask questions or get reassurance.

@VeryKatie and @Megliveken I'll have to see how it goes with this doctor's office, but one thing that was great was before I left, the nurse gave me a printed booklet they give to all OB patients. It was put together by this clinic/hospital and is about 30 pages long. In it they have information about the various places to know about (clinic, OB triage, lab, etc.); what to generally expect during each trimester; normal and concerning symptoms and what to watch for; food, exercise, diet, work, etc. guidelines; different types of tests and when they get done; things to know for labor, delivery, breastfeeding, etc. It was very basic information but great to have all in one place written very clearly. They also said (and it's written on the cover to remind you) to bring the book to every appointment. I assume that is so they can cover the relevant information with you every time. I was really pleased with this office and everyone I dealt with yesterday.

@puffbrat I'm sorry yesterday was rough and didn't go as expected. It's hard to find the words in situations like these and I certainly wish I could take all the bad feelings/possibilities away but just know that we are here for you no matter what and I'll be sending lots of positive vibes and thoughts your way! *HUGS*

Thanks @WifiresGettingFit!! I appreciate the good thoughts <3 At this point I'm just trying (though not quite succeeding) at staying positive. I think tomorrow's blood work result will be huge for me either way.

On the plus side, I finally managed to get my patient account set up (one system had the correct info but the patient portal didn't) and you can view lab results on their. I plan to get the lab work done early, and if I'm lucky, they will get it done and post the results before the end of the day so I won't have to wait all weekend. The nice thing is that this clinic has its own lab, so yesterday at least they got my blood work done quickly.

@puffbrat I know it's hard to stay positive and I wish I had something to say other than that but honestly I'm completely at a loss for words.

That's great that they do their own labs and that your blood work was done quickly. I do hope it works out so that you don't have to wait all weekend for the 2nd set of results!

@puffbrat in my experience, the doctor's gut feelings are usually correct, even if other outcomes are possible! So keep your hope up! It it very likely that your body only just started ovulating again and you nabbed the first pregnancy you could! It also sounds like your have a very proactive team working for you! Giving you booklets, doing multiple blood tests. And not only taking the blood, but not making you wait 1.5 - 2 weeks for the results like mine does (public healthcare at it's finest). It's really great you get results back right away. However, no matter what happens, we will always be here for you!! And maybe you can open up to your mom or a sister? Having support is really a good thing. And your hubby probably wouldn't mind a little outside support too.

@Kirstie155 congrats on the insurance! That must be a huge sigh of relief! 60% of your pay is pretty good too :) If you wanted to, you could even consider taking those 6 weeks paid and taking a little more time off unpaid. You did start saving for it, after all.

I was having a really bad day yesterday (one of those "woke up on the wrong side of the bed" days - unexplained angst) but it turned out really nice. My friend cancelled on me for coffee (I think she realized that she shouldn't have done that, she looked sorry and said sorry - she's a nice girl really, one of my favourites so I think it was just an oversight) so I was bummed. So I went by myself to get a bagel, later than normal. While I was chowing down in the food court, I got a call.. turns out I was accepted by a midwife! Yay! I'm pumped for that. So I get to meet her on Monday (luckily have the day off) and see how that all works. I looked her up, she's only been registered since September 2016, so she's new, but I'm thinking that will be okay. Sounds like she has a couple other midwives she works with as well and I imagine she got plenty experience during a practicum of some kind. I also have to go to my GP on Monday morning to get lab results back and to try to hear the heartbeat. 99% sure she's going to tell me I peed in the cup wrong. I screw it up every time lol.

It's raining pregnant women around here!

@puffbrat sending positive vibes your way! Waiting for tests/results is the worse. I'm sure all is well.

I'm still plodding around completely unmotivated diet wise. Still been hitting the gym regularly so plus side I'm maintaining my weight.

    Thanks for the support ladies!

@VeryKatie I truly do believe you are right about the doctor's insights often being correct. My husband believes that as well in this case which is helpful. I really should open up to my mom. She is always a great support to me and I know she would like to be included. My husband was encouraging me to talk with my mom last night. He tried really hard to be comforting, but he couldn't understand why I was so upset. For him, the doctors said I was 2 weeks and that is that.

I did actually wind up telling my supervisor today. I wasn't going to, but I have so many appointments scheduled in the next month that will impact my work schedule. Plus she is a very kind and compassionate woman who I felt would understand and maintain my confidence. She actually confided in me about her own situation several years ago and the heart break she went through before having her daughter. It was a surprisingly comforting conversation. I of course don't intend to spread the news until much much farther along (and hopefully more confidence in a healthy pregnancy), and I'll deal with the consequences of having told my supervisor if necessary (fingers crossed that won't happen) but in the meantime at least I don't have to be super sly about the doctor appointments or various emotions that may strike me on those days.

Katie - Yay for getting accepted by a midwife!! The OB I'm scheduled with must also be fairly young based on her profile with med school dates (no picture), but my husband and I agree that she has still probably seen many many OB patients, and they do have overseeing attendings in the clinic.

    Ok, I'm caught up now!
Katie....how in the world so you pee in a cup wrong? Hahahah! I'm trying to visualize this. I'm super excited about the disability insurance, and am planning on taking a minimum of 12weeks of leave. This just means i get paid for some of it! I'm at a management retreat, and I am becoming one of the higher ups in the company, so hoping to have some more pull in my small company and request paid maternity leave of 6 weeks as well...which we don't offer at all now. Yay paid leave!!
Also I'm away from hubby in my fertile window, and even though we aren't trying yet I just can't help but think I'm wasting a perfectly good egg this month! Lots of ewcm

Got the results from this morning's blood test. My hcg level had increased as it was supposed to. The nurse said it was right where they want to see it. Whew!!! Sounds like it's just a really early pregnancy. I feel so relieved. I still have my appointment with the OB on Monday, but I'm not really nervous anymore.
