NSV's

My NSV is that I think I found a strategy that is helping halt a long term lapse centered around a particular trigger/binge food. I've made it work for a week and am starting to feel like I can go forward and feel successful on my plan again.
I'm reading all these reminders of how great this lifestyle has been for me and others and I feel excited and hopeful again.
Trying to hold steady til Dec. 26, then it's game on!
2017 is gonna be my year to shine!!!
Happy Holidays and best wishes for an absolutely fabulous New Year to all my fitness pals!4 -

My husband has taken over my role as slightly obsessed dieter since he realised he went from a 42 inch waist to a 36 inch eating the same food as me and now raves about this WOE to anyone who will listen. Meanwhile having maintained my goal weight for the past year (longest time ever in my life) I am in jeopardy of becoming one of those "normal" people who don't worry about their weight every second of every day.
Lol this is my husband too! He's gotten so skinny from my diet and is now constantly staring at himself in the mirror and seeing how his abs are coming along (he hadn't seen them in nearly 15 yrs). I almost feel like I've given him an eating disorder, he weighs himself more often than I do. But in all honesty, his new obsession with his weight will help me stay on track too as he's no longer interested in snacks or treats at all anymore.6 -

Note that these are a few of the "subjective" findings astute practitioners will look to even before fasting blood sugar, glucose stress tests or other clinical findings to diagnose diabetes.2 -
Yesterday me and my family had a large lunch at around noon with lots of steak, shrimp, and a salad with dressing. I turned to my husband and told him, "I am so full. We're not having dinner tonight," and laughed, thinking of course that I was joking... neither of us were hungry for the rest of the day and we both skipped dinner after all! First time that's EVER happened to me, lol12

I had my A1c checked, it was 5.7 and I'm pretty sure that I will be started on Metformin. I go to the doctors on Monday. I checked my blood sugar first thing this morning before I ate anything and it was 85.

I was wearing size 18W jeans when I started LCHF back in June. I went shopping yesterday and discovered I am now a size 14!13

That's a promising result! You may be able to avoid Metformin if you stick to your new way of eating.

I'm glad to hear that you keep pushing forward looking for ways to make this work for you! From my experience, this will all just become normal to you and someday you won't need strategies or planning. Being aware of what you eat and what's good for you will just be part of your everyday life. Stay Calm and Keto on!0 -
I helped my boys make their gingerbread outhouse for a gingerbread house contest. I ate one jelly bean. One! Jelly beans were my candy of choise before going LCHF so this was big... and it didn't even taste very good. I have to admit I might have had a few more if it had.4

I don't think I've shared this here yet, as I've been absent a lot lately, but... my feet don't hurt anymore! I don't know what caused it or how it went away, but I'd had pins and needles and sharp shooting pain on my feet any time I stood up after sitting or lying down. It started during one of my pregnancies and didn't go away for over a year after my youngest was born. I literally hobbled around for the first few minutes after standing up almost every time. A couple months ago I realized it had gone away. No clue why, but I'm so grateful!16

Most challenging RV trip to date...Manhattan KS to Philadelphia PA. 4 days on the road and still adhering to LCHF (albeit with a glass of wine or two at the end of a travel day). Everything has been frozen since Saturday, so I am using campground bathroom facilities, eating off of paper plates and today was the first day since Saturday that I have had a proper shower/leg shave. I am facing my most difficult leg tomorrow but it should be my last day on the road until after the new year. Wish me luck as I negotiate the PA Turnpike tomorrow in a MH with a toad. Thankfully...the next week is forecast to be above freezing so hopefully can get back to "normal" life in the RV.5

So...I survived the PATP (barely...it was SCARY in a motorhome) and am settled in for the next 10 days...I actually put bright yellow "student driver" stickers on both my RV and my towed vehicle yesterday to encourage patience from other drivers. Unfortunately, now that things have thawed, I found that my water pump was damaged by the deep freeze. Hopefully, I can get repairs before I head back west on Jan 1...in the meantime, I use the park's restroom/showers/laundry and eat off of paper plates when I am not at my sister's place with family. I have tested the limits of both the RV and me and even though I have a few challenges ahead, I view this trip as a major success. You truly do not know what you are capable of until you try. I am capable of a lot (LCHF just one)!!5 -
@idocdlw , glad you made it through PA on that miserable road. I was raised north of PGH and had family in New Holland/Lancaster so had many trips back and forth with my parents or grandparents. I hated those tunnels! There were 7 of them years ago. Our favorite stop was always Breezewood. No matter the time of day, so much was opened even back in the 60's. And busy! I'm sure much has changed though in 50-55 years.2

Pictures count too, right? Someone may need to see what can be done! I'm amazed by what I see!

Btw: the lady in my "before" (my grandmother who adopted my mother) pic showed me how to eat a sandwich with lettuce, instead of bread, when I was twelve years old. She never got to see the results of my low carb life, but I will never forget her attempt to help me then.6
