Week 8 Day 1 COMPLETE!!! YEAH!!!! I wasn't sure I was going to make the 28 minute run but my HR was steady and my knee wasn't complaining (more than usual) so I just set my timer for 10 min, 10 min and 5 min and kept going. I think I might just graduate this week. :)

W6D2 today. I haven't been able to squeeze my runs in every other day, and I feel like I'm not doing myself any favors.

    W2D1 done.

I'm actually running. I had a personal trainer last year who started each session with the treadmill and I could barely walk at 5km/h. Then I ran on the beach in December but I ran for 30 seconds before stopping and I always felt dead. Chest would tighten, calves pull stiff. But today I jumped into week two and other than general fatigue I'm great. AND I'm actually running. :) .

    NSV...

W5D1 completed yesterday. It felt great!

I had oral surgery today and as per doctors orders - no exercise for a week. The 5K I signed up for is in 10 days..

    Everyone is doing great.
About 3 years ago I was working through my own self made C210K plan without realizing there were apps and plans you could download to a pc.
So I understand every comment you make.

I think you got this. Just allow yourself to walk a little along the way. Sorry about the oral surgery. Life tries to get in the way sometime! LOL. My checkin. Supposed to try 8 2 today. Was actually 6 2 on my phone but decided just to go for it and ran for 30 minutes straight! HURRAH. So, distance total turned out to be guess what? 3.2 miles. Feel very good after torturing myself with taking every other day off. Mental *kitten* I got I guess. Hard to get over self flagelation if I don't DO IT EVERY DAY!!!!

W8Day2 done! Man it is HOT here. Had to keep altering my route to find shady streets. One thing about this ap is that with the timer thing I don't usually run the same route all the time. When I was jogging every day I always ALWAYS took the same route. How boring. I am really enjoying exploring the neighborhood while jogging. And the "you are halfway" helps me to know when to start heading back so I don't end up too far away. LOL

how did it go? I actually was SUCH a couch potato that the first week or so I have to admit I only did 15 minutes of them each day. I have one more run to make to "grajiate", but I have already started going back to some of the earlier weeks and using them to time my jogs out.

I just completed wk 7 day 1. I'm running slower to make sure that I'm able to complete the entire run without breaks. I'm really enjoying my progress this time around but I do find myself anxious about my next run. I'm still embarking, however!

W7D2 yesterday. I have a race on the 5th so I guess I'll "graduate" just in time. I'm bummed because it's a craft brew race and my friend that was going with me just flaked. So I guess I won't be doing the beer portion because I don't want to drink alone. Even though craft beer is the only reason I picked that particular race. :|

You won't be drinking alone! I'm sure there will be hundreds of other people drinking. Where is this race? Sounds like something I'd love!

I did w3d1 today. 3 minute jog... It seemed like a yikes moment especially when my shins started complaining but I did it. c25k has been easy so far. Today was tougher. During that last jog self talk and the song I was listening to kept me going.

    My self talk:
"It's 3 minutes you can do this." Deep breath. Starts jogging. Looks at the clock "2 minutes and 30 seconds left"
"When does it end?" Looks at the clock.
    "60 seconds"
    "50"
"Just 30 more seconds, hang in there"
When the coach thing went START WALKING my legs were too sore to smile but I smiled at the end. I did it. Slow and steady.

be careful. Injuries are the #1 reason we stop exercising and slide back down the mountain. If your shins are still hurting today you may want to rest until they recover and look at running on softer terrain or getting better shoes. It's ALSO ok to repeat a week or day or two until your body is ready to move on without injury. CONGRATS ON GETTING THRU the 3 minutes. You are right, it's about 1 song or less. Sometimes I count steps to myself at the one minute left mark to count seconds... LOL

I finished! W8D3 done. I lost 13 pounds during the program (with proper diet and other exercises). I still don't really like running, but I always thought that I just couldn't do it and I'm happy to have proved myself wrong.

Tonight I did W2D1 - I can already see my pace time decrease and my distance increase so that is awesome! I may end up repeating this week but we'll see by the end of the week how I'm doing.

Okay, so there is a race I have been promising myself to enter at the end of October. I have no delusions that I will actually run with fire under my feet, but I would like to run the 5k portion without stopping. I have the C2K app and have started a few times. Tomorrow I start back at Week 1, Day 1 again. I'd start tonight after work but I'm already committed elsewhere and can't get to the gym in time. I'd like a place to check in each day as accountability. You guys are all very inspiring.

So, just a question........does everyone do other workouts on the off days? Or do a complete rest day?

today is an off day, but i am planning on doing a short walk with the dogs and starting a plank challenge, plus some stretching. i am trying to keep the every-other moving but lighter. by the end of the month my goal is to be back at the gym 2-3 x a week (swimming soon! yay!)

I started using the app 'map my run' today. Just a heads up. I really wish I had started using it when I started C25K so I would have more data. It looks like a really excellent way to track your progress as far as condition etc... And I was also horrified to see that my avg pace was >13 min miles... Hey - a starting point tho? That actually means that when I graduated and did the 30 minute run I was not really ready for a 5K. I did 3 miles today and it took me 40 minutes. Nice that it was not a guess as to distance either....
