Yesterday I went to the Mid-State Fair with my "little" (I volunteer for Big Brithers/Sisters). With my healthy body I was able to go on any ride and keep up with him. And with healthy eating habits I didn't have "fair food" on my mind all day. Indulged a bit, but that's ok. I'm living the life I've always dreamed.10

I jogged a bit the other day while on my walk. I enjoyed it and I think I'll slowly start getting into more. I would really love even ground though, so I'm thinking about going to a school track for that kind of activity.5

I had a huge non-scale victory this week. More than just one, it was a whole day! My husband's boss invited all the employees and their families out to the lake. Normally I would find a million reasons not to go but I didn't. I put on my new swimsuit which I do not feel like an Umpa Lumpa in for the first time in 11 yrs. Victory #1. I actually socialized, not just sitting quietly in the background. Victory #2. I was able to cross my legs!!! Victory #3. There were jet skis. My gut told me to avoid the beach at all costs. My husband and kids were down there so I went. They were having so much fun. I wanted to try but I kept thinking 'I'll be too heavy.' 'The life jacket won't fit'. My husband and his boss wouldn't let up, they wanted me to try. I finally gave in. When no one was looking I tried on the life jacket, it was a large. It fit! There was some boob squishage but it fit. Victory #4. I got on the jet ski and lived to talk about it haha Victory #5. It was a great day!12

I still haven't had surgery yet, and I'm losing weight while playing the waiting game, so I was just able to purchase tops that weren't plus size!!!! And I am finally not classified as "morbidly obese." That category always nagged at me.6

I've started wearing a ring that I bought in Ireland in 2013. It was an awkward size and only fit on my left hand either on my ring finger (occupied by wedding ring) or my thumb. But now it fits on my right hand ring finger perfectly, even a tad loose.5

@mrscarrierobinson, way to go! These are the stories that hit home. We have spent so much time and effort avoiding these situations that when you can embrace them they feel *so* good! I am sure you have many more to come!3 -
I jogged today. Not far, maybe 400 yards. I don't think it will be a regular part of my life with an ACL repair from the mid 1980's and a fused spine but I, 53 year old, 225 lb me jogged. Amazing what getting rid of 120 lbs does for you. 40 more to goal. Seems unreachable some days then I think how far I've come.7

I squeaked by and managed to exceed my mileage goal this month by 1.9 miles! I have a half marathon to run in a couple of weeks, but August will be focused on more cross-training.

We just got back from a 2 week vacation...we walked a ton. It was hot and humid and I made it. I was even the last one standing many of the days. 2 towers and 1 lighthouse climbed on top of it all. Although I ended up breaking my Fitbit...new one should be delivered today!10

I went to Old Navy today to buy some clothes for the kids and myself. I didn't try anything on in the store, because I bought stuff that I would fit into.
Well, when I got home I tried on a pair of the jeans I bought myself. I bought a 16 & and 18. And the 18's FIT. Like I can zip & button them! They are tight and I wouldn't be comfortable wearing them all day...BUT I bet in 10-20 more lbs they will be super comfortable.
So I started at a size 24. I've been wearing 22's when I wear jeans. I have one pair of 20's that I haven't even tried on in years (guess I should go dig those out!) and I'm very close to wearing an 18. This makes me feel SO HAPPY!
I also got several new cute tops. Some I *could* wear now, but they aren't quite as "flowy" as I'd like, so they'll hang out until I'm more confident to wear them.

My new treadmill arrived today. I power walked for 26 minutes and jogged for 4 minutes. I know it's not much, but it was a victory for me. Oh, I crossed my legs last week, too!15

My watch strap has had to go up 2 holes and I'm now shopping in the normal sized section of clothes shops.11

Well I haven't been to active on here since I've been on a few trips the last week weeks, needless to say had a lot of mess ups with eating while on vacation! It's hard but now I know it's something I have to work on! I gained weight but lost it all in a week back at home, so I am proud of that!
But I am actually really surprised that while clothes shopping a few days ago I went down 1 to 2 shirt sizes (depending on brand/style) and my bra cups went down! I hate clothes shopping since I only have two stores to choose from because of my size! I didn't try on pants but I probably should have just to see. All my shorts I've been wearing are sliding off. I tend to wear clothes baggy I am just more comfortable, but now they just slide off buttoned up and zipped! I am happy with these small changes I am seeing before surgery so can't wait until surgery! 25lbs down 125-150 to go!!! I go back to work tomorrow so hopefully my work environment doesn't derail me!!4 -

That's great! I had to take the 34s I bought my son for school back. He's 13 and wears a size 36. Lol3 -

I had to move the car seat forward to drive. I could no longer reach the pedals where it was at. I blame my losing my behind too!4 -
I was able to bend over and clipped my own toe nails with regular clippers, been having the doc do it for years. I was so surprised! It was so small, but felt great.5

As I was meandering around yesterday and today, walking along with no cane, I flashed back to 5 years ago, when I weighed 430 pounds and used a walker with a seat and could walk about 25 yards, pushing the walker, until I had to sit down and rest. I've come so far! I wear 284 pounds, walk unsupported, and I can walk and stand for at least an hour before I need to sit. (And I have to sit because my hip aches, not because I'm out of breath.) I'm so grateful for how far I've come!11

I have a very active 12 yr old son. He plays hockey, football, and soccer. I am not friends with the other Football or Hockey parents, they can be a very judgmental group. I had my surgery at the end of soccer season and I haven't really seen the football or Hockey parents since. Today was my son's first football game of the season. There were so many double takes I thought I was going to have to call the medic over to offer support for whiplash haha!6

Three years out..and an NSV. I moved, loaded, and unloaded boulders for our subdivision landscaping project. The men in my neighborhood could hardly keep up. Love it! I remember the days when mowing my lawn would wipe me out. Weight Lifting for two years has paid off.7

For my work I transport disabled persons around the county. A new passenger said to me yesterday, "I noticed your legs in the elevator. They look pretty strong. Do you run or bike?" This is significant because I had just met him and he didn't know that I had lost weight or had bariatric surgery. He was basically just commenting on how muscular my legs looked. (He was an lderly gentleman, don't thimk he was hitting on me, lol) It's nice to know that I'm in shape enough that someone would notice without even knowing I used to weigh twice as much.10

A lady at the grocery store told me I looked fit and asked if she could work out with me. I've never been an inspiration for anyone to work out. I wasn't sure how to answer at first then I said sure. We've met twice to walk at a local park and she's going to the gym with me next week.7

I went to a concert last night and my @$$ fit in the seat! Can I get a fist bump??11

@MrsCarrieRobinson, FIST BUMP!! What an upper that must have been!
The weather has finally turned cooler here in Seattle, and I got out a pair of my knit pants to wear, pulled them on, and they Promptly. Slid. Down. Even all the loose skin on my waist and hips is no longer enough to keep them up! So I panicked, because I was running late as usual, and desperately grabbed a smaller pair of blue jeans that I've never worn, and they were loose when I pulled them on! Best feeling! I am planning to go through my wardrobe this weekend and try everything on; I'm now through ALL my old clothes, and into some clothes I had bought that ended up "too small" (I shop online, hate shopping in person, takes too much time) but I had not bothered to return. I may have to break down and buy some more clothes! Or, more likely, get out my sewing machine and take everything in. I've lost 145 lbs, but want to lose another 75 lbs before having skin reduction surgery, and I hate buying in-between clothes. Left my house with a huge smile!!7 -
We had my son's 16th birthday party, a BBQ in our backyard, with family and friends... and we have those plastic outside chairs... I fit in them, without my hips touching the sides AT ALL. I know last year, if I sat in them, when I would get up, I'd have to pry myself out of them. Something like this!

Just this morning I was interviewed for a RUNNING podcast. Wow, I couldn't have even imagined such a thing even a year ago. The podcast is at DizRuns.com . He's a relatively well known coach in the running community. I had emailed him a few months ago to thank him for his great work and told him his podcasts help keep me motivated to keep up with my health and weight loss. He was inspired by my story so we scheduled and interview. It should go live in about a week or so. I'm grateful and amazed at the things I've been able to accomplish the past few years. VSG has been a great tool. And I love all the support I get and see from this group.5
