Hey Team, it's time for our Question of the Week:

What is the reason that you wanted to get healthier and start this journey?

For me it was seeing a picture of me holding my niece and I realized that I was turning into a blob and she would soon be super active and I would need to match her energy if I wanted to be the cool aunt.

    Question of the Week:

What is the reason that you wanted to get healthier and start this journey?:

It was partially seeing photos of myself, but the main thing that happened was my brother in law had a heart attack at age 40. Even before this happened it was my fear that I'd have a heart attack because I had never been so out of shape in my life and my heart was always feeling strained. So his heart attack just confirmed that my fear could really become my reality and is what really jump started me to getting serious.

Ah, I get it now. Is the whole idea to check in everyday and answer the question, and THAT's how you win? I thought it was based on weight loss. Sorry, I didn't understand!!

QOTW- What is the reason that you wanted to get healthier and start this journey?
definitely seeing pictures, it's weird how I see myself in the mirror as opposed to what pictures are showing... scary.
And I'm approaching 40, so I would really like to hit my long term goal before then. My short term goal is Hawaii in February.. not much time left, but I'm working hard!!!

    Question of the week -
A big motivation for me was my health. Last year I got really sick with an infection in my bowel that led to a perforation. I was almost septic. The road to recovery was long and arduous and included a very extensive surgery. I remind myself that I never want to feel that way again and I never want to put my family through that either. I also reached a point in my life where I have the time and motivation to work out. I enjoy building that time in for myself. It is not only good for my physical health, but also for my mental health. Thanks for all the support!

I went over calories on Saturday, but I feel pretty good overall about my weekend. I tried Dave's Naturals Overnight Oatmeal (Blueberry Vanilla Almond) for breakfast this morning and it was amazing and filling. You all should try some. Their website says you can get them on Amazon and from World Market.

Sunday (I do these in the morning, so my info is for yesterday)

    Pw- 210.1
    CW - 210.4

I’m not too happy with this but last week was a write off. Super cold weather kids home and sick. This week starts my return to aqua fit and volleyball plus gym daily. I need to focus on my water intake. Even my skin is suffering from lack of water.

I think that is mostly water - I have been consistent, but that is a bit too large of a number for what I've been doing. I'll take it though! Just have to remind myself not to be down when that number is up next week!

    QOTW:

I've also got that weird disconnect between mirror and photos. Not so bad in the mirror, OH MY in the photos. To the point that I actively have begun avoiding photos. I don't want to do that! I also really want to be an active person for my entire life. I don't want to be unable to go and do anything.

    Question of the week

My “aha” moment. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had to go to a specialist for the ultrasound because (as the tech said) I was too obese for normal machines. This blew me away because I hadn’t gained much weight. Then in June when I was in labour after an extremely difficult birth, I overheard all of the attendants questioning how they were going to lift me to the gurney? Either by a crane thing or six attendants. It was embarrassing listening to them talking and I vowed to get to 150 by the time my Mat leave was over (June 2018)

You do win by losing weight, as a whole...those are posted by the moderators of the overall challenge, but within the teams, we have mini challenges and weekly winners for the challenge days too, the idea is to help with motivation and also so that you realize that there is more to losing weight than just dropping pounds..your body changes and you feel better too...

Here's the Week 1 Winners by Weight as posted by the moderators.

@jennfalzon1979 Omg, that sounds awful!! I can't believe that...wow. Well, I have faith you will meet your goals!

@Calli1616 I also have that weird disconnect with mirrors and photos, I swear I don't look that round in mirrors but in photos, I am super round...I want to believe the photos lie...but probably not.

@JJKM02 That also sounds awful...I'm starting to feel a little superficial in my reason to lose weight. I believe you will meet your goals and get healthier!!

@saladhead123 That sounds like a fun trip and even if you lose a few pounds before your trip, you will still feel better about yourself, and that in itself is addicting and helps to keep the trend going. I believe you will reach your goals!!

    Good Morning guys:)
Wow the weekend in Perth was a lot of fun. I ate some not so great stuff, but I am ok with that, I would have seen more of a loss without it, but I am happy to have not seen a gain. I only opened MFP to keep my streak going and have just caught up on the thread..
I started back at bootcamp today and have my PT session tomorrow, I go away on a holiday with my mum and kids next week and should be able to stay on track, i've told my mum no dessert while away lol.

    Question of the Week -
This is a hard one for me to pin down. I have slowly been putting the weight on for the last 20 years (That makes me feel old lol), I am lucky that all of my jobs have been fairly active with a lot of walking and kinda (not really) kept some of the weight off. There are so many moments that I have had, the problem has always been sticking to it.
I wanted to get healthy and be there for my kids, I am on a massive self learning journey right now. I am in a really great place mentally and am working on self love and acceptance, I don't need to be a tiny person, but I do need to be a healthy person who can show her kids self love and how to love themselves, I used to say how fat I was etc etc all the time and I don't think that was teaching them anything good.
Sorry for the ramble, i don't know how much sense that made lol.
    Have a great week guys:)

    Daily check-in
-Tracked all the food and drink (first time in weeks!)
-Under calories with plenty of room to spare!
-3 mile run after work - had wanted to do more, but we had a late bus so that was all I could squeeze in before it got dark

What is the reason that you wanted to get healthier and start this journey?
I had been pretty unhappy for some time. There were several horrific pictures. I was really at a point where I didn't want to go anywhere, see anyone, and certainly not have my picture taken. At the end of my first year in a new school district, I had decided that for the first time I was not going to teach summer school. But then I got pressured into it. So, I made a deal with myself that I would teach, but that I would let myself be selfish and irresponsible, and use some of the money just for myself. I hired a trainer that summer, and it was life changing!

I hired a trainer too and it was a great decision, I would never have had the confidence to weigh train without her and thanks to her I've lost 50+ lbs and I feel great.

I wrote a lot here and I must not have saved it! Tomorrow at 6 PM will be the end of my 55 hr. Clean fast. I needed to do this with all the great food around me. When I am fasting, I have more will power. I have not exercised as I am cold so I just want to wrap up in a blanket. No excuse though, especially where I am here in Las Vegas! But for me, It’s cold and rainy.
