JULY MONTHLY CHALLENGE

Welcome one and all to July!
Here we go: a new challenge but the old spreadsheet!
So don't look for a new one of those, but continue to post your weight on the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' which Nikki will update as needed. You can obviously also post your weight in this post and many do.
For anyone new out there; feel very welcome to join, we usually post our weigh Sundays and use the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' also in 'Announcements' to track weight.
We use this thread to encourage each other and to add our weight as well if we want to and generally chat!
It's fun and it's been working and we've lost a shed load of weight between us. It seems to keep us going and even if we go up occasionally (and who doesn't!) we get back to it and continue the journey.
So here we go, good luck in July

I'm going to be out camping for a week in the middle of July, so I may or may not get to weigh myself the weeks of the 8th and the 15th. I suppose I could take my scale with me in the camper and report whenever I get some cell service. ^_^ But I expect to gain while I'm camping because I know I'll be eating one day pretty freely of non-keto foods. I'm not going to focus on that though. I'm taking plenty of keto foods and may just IF some of the time.6 -
Looking forward to July. I’ll be on vacation for 10 days with a fellow Keto’er. Lobster Baby!!!
Now this. I haven’t had the same focus on logging my meals and tracking my macros as I did the first 2 months. That’s okay. I can see ahead to the times I know will be more lax due to travel or visitors. I also look forward to the weeks and months I know I will have fewer distractions and I can hunker down for some serious weight loss. That’s just Summer. I’m so happy with my results and so proud of the control I have even when I eat non Keto foods. I take a bite of something and that’s it. I don’t go crazy, I don’t feel guilt. I kind of feel like I know what life will look like after I reach my goals, and it’s very doable. My goal for the rest of the summer is to lower my metabolic age on my smart scale.

Hi, I will join the July challenge. I am new to the group but not new to the low carb lifestyle. I recently restarted my weight loss journey and low carbs is the only thing that has helped me lose weight before. I’ve lost 11.6 pounds since restarting in May of this year. My starting weights in May was 183.4 and I am currently 171.8.
I’ll be out of town June 30-July 6th so this will be interesting. Last time I went out of town I was off track for 6 months! But I refuse to do that ever again. So I am taking my scale and planning ahead of time.
Also I am getting married this September on the 22nd so my first goal weight by then is to be in the 150s.

I am in for July! I love how this helps to keep my accountable AND I can track my progress. Sometimes it doesn't seem like "a lot" until you see just how far you can come in a month and how you can work towards your goals!

Hello everyone!
A little about me...
I’m brand new to keto. I’ve successfully been doing the keto lifestyle for 48 days consecutively without « cheating » once. I’m amazed at the transformation! Emotionally, and physically! I have lost 15 Lbs so far and I’ve lost all my old cravings. I don’t even miss all the junk food I used to love (and this is HUGE for me because I was addicted to food and especially sugar!) I used to be completely controlled by food... i never had any willpower and I would binge far too often. This is the first « diet/lifestyle » that I’ve ever done (after a lifetime of yo-yo diets) where I’m finding success and I feel soooo good!
I’m proud of my progress and I’ve been desperately looking for a keto-friendly forum because there’s a lot of negativity out there about such a « radical » change in lifestyle. I’m soooo happy to have found this challenge! I weigh weekly and record it. So this is perfect for me!
Congratulations to everyone who is getting married! I’m trying to get back down to my weight on my wedding day and I’m trying to get healthy before I attend 2 weddings in August and September! Stating weight on
May 9th 2018: 210.4

Not my first rodeo with Keto and looking forward to results/ accountability with cheering others on. I work second shift in the ER and graduate nursing school in December. My goal is to be a fit operating room nurse (that can tolerate long standing hours) so I can help heal others!
I'm currently 183 lbs (5'2"), started at 197 the beginning of June. Unfortunately, I'm lacking a thyroid (total thyroidectomy 2014) so my weight caught up on me fast.

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the group and to keto. I weight 319 Ibs at the moment. For the most part I already avoid a lot of breads and stuff because I have a gluten allergy, but keto has been opening my eyes to all the carbs in foods. Being Hispanic, it has been a little tough cutting out tortillas, rice, and beans, but I'm excited about this new journey.

Hi All! I'm new to this group, but not new to Keto. I lost 60lbs last year following a Keto Diet and then put back on a few ell bee's, so I hear I am, back to lose then next 80lbs. I started back on Keto on 5/31 literally on a whim, no planning or anything, just woke up that morning feeling sick from having indulged in too much dairy over the Holiday and said enough is enough and jumped back in with both feet.
4 weeks back in and I've lost 12lbs putting me 86.8lbs from goal.
I'm a pretty good self-motivator, but am excited about the additional accountability of this post.
I follow what I would call "Clean Keto" which means that my diet consists mostly of foods in their whole and natural form. I am both dairy free and gluten free due to allergies, and low carb due to many GI issues including GERD, Erosive Esophogitis, Hiatal Hernia, etc. I even had my first ever Diverticulitis attack back in March, and that wasn't fun. My doctor wanted me to start taking a PPI for my Erosive Esophogitis but agreed to give me 12 weeks of dietary changes at which point I'll get an updated Endoscopy and I'm hopeful to have seen some improvement. I can say, that my heartburn has decreased 10 fold. I've gone from going through a bottle of Tums every few days to only needing to take a Tums once every few days. I also went through many years of health problems which is what led me to Whole 30 then Paleo and now Keto.
I graduated in February with my Certificate in Nutritional Therapy and am now a Certified Nutritional Therapy Consultant. This is my passion project that I hope to some day make in to my full time job.
So, that's my short story. My diary is open, feel free to take a peek.

Hello all! I am not new to Keto or this app. I have been using myfitnesspal for quite a few years now. I have thyroid issues and no matter what I ate, I still gained until I found Keto! My husband and I started Keto last summer, I lost 25 lbs pretty quick, after a couple months I stalled and couldn't get the scale to budge. When I stalled, I lost motivation then we started cheating on the weekends. I have not gained any back, BUT my husband gained everything he lost back. I would like to lose about 40 lbs more and he says he wants to lose 100 lbs, so here I am. I love the idea of a July Challenge! This will help me to stay on track, and hopefully motivate my husband! This morning I stepped on the scale at 196, my goal weight is 155.8

Hi Just post your weight weekly here and you can also use the Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet (also in the announcements section where you found this) All you do is add your name and then your weight on the sreadsheet. Sometimes it's difficult with the app I believe but if you have a problem adding your name and weight just let us know here and Nikki or some one will up date for you.
Good luck!0 -
Greetings to all the new Challengers out there! Welcome to the July Challenge!5

Welcome to everyone that is new to this group! I am sure you find that there are some really great people here who are very supportive. I'm looking forward to the July challenge, but I need every last bit of June to squeak by with some more progress - lol1

Hello all!
I'm interested in joining the challenge. I lost about 30 lbs last year doing mostly keto. I'm now working on the next (final!) ~30 lbs... I hope to lose 5 pounds in July.

I'm actually a little heavier (~3 lbs) than I was on January 1, 2018 (the "starting weight" in the spreadsheet)... Should I put my weight on July 1 in the starting weight box, or keep it at my weight 1/1/2018?

I'm not entirely sure what I'm up to for July. I've just been maintaining. Since adding in more gym time and strength training I know I needed to up my calories. I also know that while my body gets used to the changes it's better for me to just work on not stressing my body out too much with too large of a deficit. So I guess for July my goal is to stay between 175 & 180.
That may change depending on how my body adjusts to gym madness.

Hello all,
I've been doing Keto for the last 30 days and I'm down 20lbs. I'm still unsure I'm doing this thing right, so it will be great to start this challenge and get feedback from others on keto!

I’m in for July! This is no contest my favorite MFP group. I consider many people on this thread as, not just MFP friends, but personal friends. I have received support, encouragement and advice from them that has been instrumental to my success on Keto.
In June I made the decision not to set weight goals. That turned out to be a disaster, as I gained 12 pounds in June. So, I won’t make that mistake in July. With help from my friends, I’ve managed to fight my way back to below my starting weight for June. So, June was not a complete disaster.
For July I plan to lose 5 pounds by using sound keto principles I kind of abandoned in June. That should put me dangerously close to my 6-month goal of losing 50 pounds. Of course, I will be one month late, but considering my poor June results I’ll be happy to reach the 50-pound mark in 7 months. So, bring on July. Me and my friends are ready.
