JULY MONTHLY CHALLENGE

Because my exercise/activity routine has been altered drastically as I recover from a dislocated shoulder, I had to employ a new strategy. This week I made a spreadsheet to record my daily calories and macros.
I’m still using MFP food log, but I pre-log everything I plan to eat for the day, then stick to it. This is the total brute force, back to the basics, spartan like attention I used to do when I was a keto newbie. I know it is not sustainable, but I’m going to stick with it until I reach my goal weight.
I’ve always struggled with my last five to ten pounds in every diet approach I’ve attempted. Keto is by far, no contest, the most successful lifestyle plan I’ve been on (day 198 today). I’m confident keto will get me to my goals. However, I long for the day when keto becomes second nature to me and I eat intuitively to maintain my healthy weight. I think I can see that day on the horizon. But for today and the near future it is back to the basics.

A bit of a bounce back up this weekend, but I’m willing to bet that it’s largely water weight, as my feet and ankles are still unusually puffy after spending 12 hours at the amusement park with my kids on Friday. Hoping that drinking lots and lots of water today will help flush it out.

Keto = no cravings = no need for a stop button. I have the opposite issue now. Need to check my tracker to make sure I have enough each day - an unusual predicament.

I am pleased with how this week went. I had a plan for eating and mostly stuck to it. I'm still figuring out my fitness goals, and how to eat to achieve them. I'm starting to see some muscle definition which is exciting. It makes it easier to say no to the carb-crap, and yes to keto-friendly options.
Since I've been trying to cut back on caffeine, and I'm upping my protein, I decided to make a protein shake today, instead of morning coffee. It was delicious, filling, and I plan to have one every morning this week pre-gym workout.
I used:
1 cup nut milk (I used unsweetened almond)
2 servings (4tbsp) powdered peanut butter
1 serving (1/2 cup) cottage cheese
stevia or other sugar alternative to sweeten to taste
about 1/4 cup ice
2 tsp cacao nibs (optional, unless you're like me, then it's essential!)
Blend until ice is well crushed.
It seems weird, but it tastes like peanut butter cheesecake yumminess.
Goal for July, stay between 175 & 180

Well, vacation was way too much fun, so it's time to buckle down first thing tomorrow. Going to do strict keto and 16:8 IF with my requisite gallon or more of water every day. That's what helped before, so back to square one...7

I reached my major goal for the month and that was to meet, or surpass, 50 lbs released and I finally did! I feel like I slipped thought this weekend. I wasn't terrible, but I wasn't that great either.
I am excited about upcoming vacation but nervous about "being good". I have to plan ahead because typically when we pack our food for a day on the beach it's sandwiches, chips, and cookies. I will figure it out. I am sure I may slip some, however it will be okay. If I wasn't stressed about looking my best on my wedding day (September 15th) I don't feel like I would have as much anxiety as I do about it. On a positive note, I said YES to the DRESS and went from a size 24 to getting to order an 18!10 -
Sheesh. I've been bouncing on the same two or three pounds for three months now. Ugh! And I've gained a pound every week this month. How is this possible??? I'm quite discouraged. I'm going to completely eliminate the adult beverages. It's not that much, but it could be just enough alcohol to sabotage whatever other good I'm doing. There is one glimmer of hope. I tried on some old jeans that I haven't worn for a couple of years. They were a bit snug, but they fit!
Kudos to all the successes this week. You all are champions!

Back from a sweet vacation and back into the swing of Keto and all that entails. I ate almost everything I wanted on vacation, but I still felt like I made good decisions and exercised some self-control. The last night on vacay I had a large ciabatta roll - I felt that the next day in my joints. I gained about 3-4lbs, not too shabby! I also walked... a lot!! I have friends in town and they are starting on Keto today - they are super excited. We are all starting/restarting using Ruled Me's 30-day Keto Plan. I don't know if I'll make it to the 140's in August but I definitely will in September. I'm glad to be home and back in the fold of my Keto Clan. I'm curious to see what kind of progress I'll have back on the Ruled Me Keto Menu. Hopefully the same success I had the first time!4

Well, I'm back in the 1 lb up-down vortex. Not worried though. I'm actually liking my body and the way that I look, which has really never happened for me before.
I really want to try a 24-hour fast, but I am so nervous. Anyone who does fast or is interested in a 24-hour fast want to be a fast-buddy for support sometime this week?
I don't do them (longer fasts) but just wanted to say the up a pound or so down doesn't matter, how you feel in your own skin does though so excellent work!2 -

Hello Everyone
I just stumbled into this group on MFP. Luckily, I have been Keto for about 6 weeks now. I will try to understand the spreadsheet link business and upload my July stats.
Cheers!5 -

So I have joined this group, started IF along with Keto nearly 2 weeks ago.
Age: 58
Weight: 62.9 kg
Final Goal: 60 kg
I am close to my goal, the rest of the weight I have already got rid of, its this last 5 kg that have been tough, and now the last 2.9 kg to get to my final weight.
I am in no rush as I promised myself when I got to 63 kg I would sit at that for 1 month then head down to 60 kg, but I am loving the IF so much that I am doing ti for health reasons, and the keto is keeping my mind clear and I like that.
I do wish their was a keto IF group to join.6 -

Welcome!! Sounds like you're doing great!1 -
Welcome @Lorrainesavvy. There are several IF fans on this thread as well as many maintaining their goal weight or fighting the last 5kgs or 10 lbs. I’ve managed two meals/day with a 6-hour eating window, 18-hour fasting period for over 6 months now. I’m hoping keto, IF and 2 meals/day are becoming lifestyle changes I can sustain.
I keto. It has changed my life for the better and I see me doing this long-term. However, these last ten have been a real struggle for me. This forum has been a source of insight, inspiration and advice all year. I hope it provides you with the same motivation and guidance I’ve received.

This is super late because I was on a road trip with my kids but I recorded my weight down so I wouldn't forget to post about it here. HA! Accountability, right? Anyway - after recording my weight on 7/15, I suddenly gained 3 pounds overnight. YIKES! Dehydration and not eating the right foods. Staying low carb, but not eating the right foods will still make you gain. I know that. I just didn't realize I was doing it. I'm much more diligent now! Anyway - increased my water, watched what I was eating, ate more green things, and actually started walking again. Helped me drop a little last week. Hoping to continue the trend this Sunday!3 -

@NikkiJRM: Nikki you are my hero! I want to be like you when and if I ever grow up. I discovered this forum seven months ago and it has been my number one source of inspiration and guidance on keto. In my opinion, you are the literally the face of this thread. Your pictures have shown us how keto can transform someone into the picture of health and happiness.
I also feel compelled to say how much I appreciate the companion spreadsheet you maintain for us. I know your dedication and loyalty to this group has gained you the respect and admiration you well deserve. Thank you!

Nikki I can’t stop looking at your ketoversary pics. They make me so happy for you and the joy you bring to our group. Just one more comment. That little mini-me on your right shoulder makes me smile. Being a healthy active Mom is not just about you. You are showing your kids how to live, love and be healthy. And this picture shows that. You are changing your family and creating a healthy legacy.5
