Hello Team Flab-U-Less!
Welcome to October!!
This month, we are going to be running (Optional) Mini-challenges. Question of the Week, Daily Posts, maybe even some seek and find games!
Let me be 100% clear - participation in these mini-challenges is optional. It's up to you if you want to chime in! If you don't want to participate in these challenges, you don't have to. I would like to encourage you to participate as it seems to help keep people on track and thinking about our goals on a daily basis and it's encouraging to see other's successes and struggles so that we realize that we are not alone!!
Chatting within the groups makes it fun, keeps things from getting stale, and gives us all an opportunity to get to know each other so we can better help one another!!!
The Daily Posts Challenge has 5 basic rules. (*optional challenge)- Track EVERYTHING you eat that has calories.
- Stay inside your allocated daily budget.
- Try to do at least 20 minutes of activity a day (anything: walk, run, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym... As long as it gets you active and off the couch)
- 1 pass day permitted per week (went over calories, could not track, not enough exercise, intentional pass)
- Check in daily (tracking yes/no, calories yes/no, exercise yes/no).
**REMEMBER**- You set your own daily budget.
- You choose you own exercise and intensity (no step limit, no exercises you cannot or should not do, 20 mins of gardening counts as much as a 10mile run, activity is activity, anything that gets you up and moving!).
- Is not weight based (as weight fluctuates day by day).
- Can continue beyond weight loss.
If you choose to participate in The Daily Posts Challenge, your posts should look like this:
Daily Post (Sunday)
Track: Yes/No
Calories: Over/Under
Exercise: Yes/No (what type and how long)
Goals/Day: Tell us a brief description about your day or goals
The Question of the Week Challenge (*optional challenge)
This is a fun participation booster and we will be using it sometimes just as fun and sometimes it can help to foster new ideas for others as we all are different and have different experiences so sharing ideas can help someone else with motivation of freshening up their routine even!! Keep on the lookout for these questions.
This is something that is fun, but challenging to me since I am running out of questions, and I would like to invite any of you guys to feel free to come up with a question you think is fun and send it to me. I am running out of creative questions and would like to use my "Ask the Audience Lifeline."
Our Normal Weigh In (*NON-optional challenge)
Please post your weight on your scheduled weigh in day, as if you miss weigh-ins, you may be eliminated from the challenge and we don't want to see that happen!!
Your posts should look like this:
Username:
Week: February Week 1
PW: Previous Weight
CW: Current Weight
Please setup your posts in that format as it really makes it much easier for me to track your progress for the challenges and the weight loss!!
I'd like to help us be as successful as possible and if I can help in any way, please let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions for the team or fun ideas to spice things up a bit, please feel free to share them, I look for new ways to help engagement and keep people motivated!!
I am committed to this group and to help where I can, and please let me know if I can help in any way!!
Welcome to October and let's make things happen this month together!!
Your Captain,
Jason @BEASTFIELD314 [/quote]

A little about me...
My name is Jason - this is my third round with The Biggest Loser Challenge! Did pretty well the last few months, and am looking to rock this month, too. I reside in St. Louis, MO with my wife and 6 (yes, SIX) beautiful children. One is 17, so I guess he's not really a child anymore.
I work a normal blue collar job during the day - I run a safety supply warehouse, so am moving around quite a bit. You would think that I wouldn't have as much to lose as I do, but that's where I am. 4 out of 7 days I help my buddy with his commercial cleaning business. Between those things, and all the activities my kids are in - Band, Dance, Soccer (now), Baseball, Basketball...and the church functions and other school functions, it is hard for me to get a lot of exercise in. But I have managed to incorporate walking/jogging a few days a week.
The biggest thing I have been working on is my food... portion control, etc. I follow the 16:8 Intermittent Fasting system. It isn't a diet, but more meal timing. I find it works for me - it may not work for you or be your cup of tea. I won't ever say its a cure all or the magic bullet, but it helps me.
I have a little over 15 pounds left to lose. Making good progress. Everyone including me will have ups and downs. There will be days you want to quit and give up. Don't. I will end it there.3 -
I am really looking forward to another month in the challenge, as I am pushing myself to get out of Obesity BMI once and for all. Yes, that's right, my goal is to be "overweight" well, for now. It'll be in October or November - so this is a very serious time for me. I am looking for consistency, but also just daily commitment to keep going no matter what the scales say. Just to stick with it for the long run.
I want to see Team Flab-U-Less do well ... Let's rock October everyone!

Hi, my name is Cornelius. I will be 40 next week on 10/4. I am married and a father of 3 that are 8, 6 and 4. I currently weigh 192.8 and would like to be at 175 so I sleep better and train better. I am very good at eating well during the week but I have not gotten into the habit of drinking Kombucha and eating kale while hanging out with the friends or watching football on the weekends instead of downing a 6-pack of beer and a pizza with wings. I have poor weekend nutrition habits and binge drinking habits that I hope accountability will help me change. I am looking for slow, boring consistency.7

Hello! I lost a lot of weight last summer before my wedding, then gained all of it back. It took me a long time to stop being angry with myself and get moving again. I started over again at 217 pounds and am down to 189.8. My goal is around 140. I thought a challenge like this would help me stay on track over the long haul, since I have so much more weight to lose.6

@crhenderson2, @RisingAboveIt - we are excited that you are here. I think you will find the motivation and encouragement you need. Everyone's goals are different and being able to cheer each other on and help those struggling is what makes this group great!0

Hi! My name is Melinda. I live in Athens, Ga. I am 37 yrs old. Stats: 5"3 SW: 315 CW: 236 LTGW: 150ish. I am married to my high school sweetie for 20yrs now, no kids, 2 cats. I have been heavy all my life, but I recently shot up after I quit my job where I was relatively active to have surgery on my hand. After I recouped, I started my own carpet, tile, grout cleaning business and sat on my butt for 2 months creating all the paperwork that goes along with owning a business....yep...it caught up with me and now I am here! As far as hobbies: my husband and I build and program arcade machines and emulators (think old-school Pac-man), hiking, camping, sci-fi conventions, and I read way too much. My diary is also open for anyone's viewing pleasure. I am just doing the eat less, move more approach. I am probably going to have to be on MFP forever and ever, so I am here to help/ support in any way I am able. This is round 2 for me for The Biggest Loser Challenge. GO TEAM FLAB-U-LESS!6

I'm Gwyn. I live on a farm in rural Oklahoma but work in the big city (population 5,100) that is 30 minutes away. I started the monthly challenge in September and since then I have been working out 5 days a week and sticking to a 1200 calorie diet most days. I have a 3 year old (October 1) and an 11 month old. After getting married and having kids I have steadily gained and I'm now 30 lbs overweight. I'm in this to lose weight and gain healthy habits to be a role model for my children. I don't want either of them to struggle with weight. I'm excited for this month and I'm ready to kick some booty...or I guess lose some booty...4

Hi! I am very excited to be part of this challenge! I’m 42, married Mom to 3 kids, 14,16 & 23 years old, and have 3 dogs. My biggest struggle is evening and weekend snacks or “treats”. I’m looking to improve my eating habits, increase exercise and build muscle. My ultimate goal is to have a healthy body, that is resistant as it can be to sickness and injury. I respond very well to challenges where others depend on me, so I’m super pumped to get started! 😁5

Thank you for the welcome, very excited to be here!
I'm Marie, a 30 something SAHM to a 5 and 2 year old and 3 cats. My husband is Active Duty so hoping to keep up with him! I'm a huge geek that spends way too much time playing video games (currently World of Warcraft (For the Horde!) and Dead By Daylight on Steam) and reading. I was almost to goal again earlier this year, but partied a little too hard over the summer after my husband returned from deployment. MFP originally helped me get to my goal back in 2015, and again earlier this year after my second child, so I just need to be committed and stay away from the margaritas, lol!
Good luck, everyone!6 -
