Every little bit counts! Way to go. I think it’s really a great thing when you can manage not to track and still maintain or lose weight. Good for you.0 -

No need to apologize for a weekend away! I have stayed dry along with you (thanks again for partnering up with me for this), and I am sure you'll get back to your exercise in fine form. Enjoy!1 -
If my doctor has no answers this week, I'm going to ask to see a gastroenterologist. But that will certainly mean no answers for months, as specialist appointments are hard to get. Which means my best bet is the dreaded... elimination diet. *dramatic lightning*
I really don't wanna. I love calorie counting precisely because I'm not good at dieting and I'm an incredibly picky eater.
But, the pain. I can't live like this. It feels like I imagine being disemboweled alive feels.
So if anyone has any ideas for success on an elimination diet that will suck less, I'm all ears. *sigh*0 -

Ugh, sounds tough.
I assume by elimination diet you mean eating very few foods and reintroducing other foods one a time to find triggers.
You can try reverse elimination (not a medical term, I made it up) where you continue eating as you are but eliminate one potential trigger at a time. I did this very successfully with my son (it was most dairy and most gluten)
You can look up common trigger foods and start with those. Many people flare up from some dairy for example but not all (e.g. no milk but yes butter & cheese).
I'm not sure that's helpful, but that's all I've got.
Added sidenote: with my son, we did the diet for 2 years and then decided to slowly reintroduce those foods and he was fine and eats everything now. Apparently, a sensitive/inflamed gut can heal, given the chance.
I hope you find answers soon. Wishing you well.2 -

A few years ago, I did the "Whole 30" which is kind of like an elimination diet. For 30 days, you are very restricted, and then you add one category of food (dairy, legumes, etc.) back in at a time to see how you react. Then you can keep the foods that give you no trouble and get rid of the others. It was amazingly helpful. I learned a lot about what worked for my system and what did not. I hated the amount of protein (particularly animal protein) I needed to eat, but for 30 days I sucked it up. The nice thing about this one is they have a daily e-mail thing you can sign up for, and there is a good community side to it that makes it a bit easier. Elimination diets are never easy, but at least you don't have to count anything! You really need to change your diet to try to get rid of your digestion problems, and this is the best way to do it. You can manage 30 days if the payoff is knowing what you really need to do to get rid of the pain. I know you can. We'll help! I have the book and the recipes if you want I could send them to you.0 -

I may take you up on that offer, depending on how Thursday goes.
There's a chance it isn't my diet but is a blockage or growth or something. Since my blood work all looked normal, I wanna know if anything showed on the xrays before changing my diet.1 -

C25K Week8 Run2 done! There is a small part of my route which is uphill. I really struggle with that, slowing down to almost walking. But I pushed on and kept going. No breaks but the last 6 minutes were a killer. I only kept going to not disappoint my son. So I guess that's a good motivator. And we beat our previous distance by a little bit!
Of to a nice shower now!
@jugar did you manage to work out today? (You asked...)1 -
Well done, @Pearl4686 !! Sounds like your shower must have been heaven. Those showers after an intense workout are amazing. And yes! I did the 1st day of the Pilates challenge that @micki48 and I are in, and I have an exercise bike session coming up while I watch an episode of something that will make the time go by. I'm sore from yesterday's circuits session, so will take it a bit easy today - thanks for nagging! You can all pay me back for all the nagging I do in here.
And good one, @reflectionofme - I know it seems like it creeps down once you're in the 120s, but it does indeed keep on creeping.2 -
Speaking of nagging...
Weigh-in CATCH UP! NONE due for tomorrow.
@kx7003 - due yesterday - are you still with us? I sure hope so!
@Juliemargaretkim - due today. I hope you are doing all right. I know things have been tough and hectic lately with your son's move and all. Thinking of you! (not nagging, really... not until tomorrow )1 -

@Terytha, I tried going back to find when you explained what you're feeling but I had no success. I am asking because you mentioned gastroenterologist and pain and I have had my fair share of problems of the sort. The biggest, worst of all and most recent one being gastritis. Diet definitely helped, there were a few things I needed to stop eating and in my case, I had medication prescribed because my gastritis was bad.1 -
Happy almost end of Tuesday!
Hope everyone is having a good one. I finished off more of my veggie garden today, had the chimney sweeps in (love those guys - my husband has FINALLY stopped trying to get up on the roof and do it himself), and did so far all my goals for the day - strength building, logging food, and no alcohol.
The 10 day Pilates program @micki48 and I are doing is wonderful. I always enjoy challenging core work, but the reflection and mindfulness part is surprising me. I am usually one to skip over all that woo woo stuff, but today the "assignment" was to set 3 (or more) alarms at intervals through the rest of the day. Each time it went off, you were to take a break from whatever you were doing, and release the tensions that had built up. And breathe. Because it was assigned and on an alarm, I actually did it - and it was wonderful. I'm sure I'll continue to set alarms to do this from now on. It only takes a minute or two (or longer if you want), and it feels really good.
@berriesandsunshine - good to see you! Really impressive steps, there
HEADS UP FOR WEDNESDAY WEIGH-INS:

@berriesandsunshine Thank you. It’s a bit rudimentary, but what ever works.
And like Liselyn said Impressive steps. Such wonderful consistency. Well done. 👏🏼👏🏼0 -
@jugar So glad you are enjoying the Pilates. It’s not too late if anyone else wants to join. Free and online.
I am about to go do my Day 2. The day has gotten away from me. There was a walk and lots of jumping around with the little one but no Pilates until after dinner.
To all my Waistaways friends:
What are you proud of yourself for today?
I’m proud I have over 8,000 steps and got in some exercise. Hugs!!1 -

Ah, I think I posted about it last month. My stomach just isn't working properly. So I have bathroom struggles, consistent stomach cramps, and every so often severe enough stomach cramps that I've been leaving stuff to bite down on around.
I feel like this kind of pain is unreasonable. That's why my doctor is thinking it might be a blockage of some sort. But also maybe celiac or something. So we'll see how the appointment goes.1 -

I’m proud I have over 8,000 steps and got in some exercise. Hugs!!
Spent an hour at the gym. My form for squats is getting a lot better, and the 1000 meters on the rowing machine was not nearly as exhausting as last time. Also I like pushing the tank around, and I'm up to 125 pounds on it.2 -
@jugar and @micki48 thank you! I have a great walking companion, my sweet dog always requires his morning walk. My big goal for this month is to start going for a walk/run late afternoon, alone, so I can have a better pace. My Spike is an old man already, hitting his 13 years of age so I need to keep up with his slow but steady walk.
@micki48 I am going to check the Pilates. Online and free sounds perfect for me.
And I am proud of my work done out in the yard this afternoon. I still HATE weeds. Every single time I pick one weed it comes with earthworms and ughh, they are so disgusting. (Clearly a new gardener here. LOL.) But the mowing part is fun and I love it! So I am proud of that!

What you described sounds a lot like what I felt. In my case, I spent months ignoring the pain, just thinking it was a bad cramp until one day, at work, I had to be rushed to a hospital because I was feeling so much pain that I couldn't move and stop crying. It was crazy! The gastroenterologist said he was surprised I was able to carry things as they were for that long. I hope you can find out what it is. If you drink lots of coffee or citric juices I would suggest trying to lower the amount. It was one of the first steps I had to follow.1 -

Oh oh!! So, some things happening -- as jugar mentioned it HAS been hectic and our son HAS moved (Brooklyn!) and we were there this past weekend (we took a caravan of stuff down to him -- he can't rent a truck yet) AND there we were in NYC -- so there was flatbread, wine, ice cream tacos (I am not kidding) and a cool little Japanese take out right around the corner from him with really really really good California rolls and chicken teriyaki. Sigh.
Something else, @jugar -- I seem to forget to post on Mondays (or am just too exhausted from these crazy weekends!) and I seem to always remember around Wednesday. While I like my reason for Monday weigh in (keeps me accountable on the weekends!) maybe I should just become a Wednesday weigh -in?
Keep on the path everyone! I'm sure what goes up can also come back down.....
And @jugar -- nag away!!2 -

Thanks for the update - your NY trip sounds WAY too delicious. Big cities with good food are dangerous! So glad I'm not working in downtown Montreal any more
I'm happy to move you to Wednesdays. But confirm for me first, after you have a chance to think about it. Any day is good, as long as you're happy with it and it works for you!2 -
@berriesandsunshine you crack me up with your description of pulling weeds! I love the earthworms because they make the garden better - the more the merrier But there are wonderful thin gardening gloves now if you don't already have some to keep the slime at bay! And you can come mow for me any time. I hate the mowing part. I make my son do it, but he takes revenge by going the wrong way around the garden and spraying all the grass cuttings onto my vegetables. I swear he does it on purpose, but he's probably just intent on his mowing and prefers a certain way around the circumference. It's inside a crazy fence to keep the critters out (the garden's nickname is "Sing Sing") so there is barely room for the mower in there. It still makes me crazy. Maybe I'll just have to do it myself next year! I'll think of you and the worms, and you can think of me and the dreaded mowing2

My body / mind is on auto pilot. When I lose some weight I correct it by getting it back. I have got to get in my mind that it is ok to lose weight.
