Happy Friday, Folks!
Here's my step and exercise update for yesterday (29th October)
Steps - 2737
Exercise - 31 mins Upper body strength workout
I was told that my running club missed me (how sweet - especially as I had only been twice!) And my coach has recommended a walking club. I'll get more details next week - exciting!
Hubby Ben is a Halloween baby, so we're going to his sister's tomorrow afternoon for a birthday lunch. And I will be chilling (with a teeny bit of work) on Sunday. The weather is forecast to be chilly and downcast this weekend, so staying cosy is the theme this weekend.
Hope you all have a fab weekend!
See ya!5 -
Aloha from Maui! My name is Sheila and I am 56 yo. I would like to lose around ten very stubborn pounds -- I quit smoking several years ago and became addicted to Nicotine replacement gum. I finally was able to give that up a little over a month ago. Within two weeks I gained 6-7 pounds and they seem like they are not leaving anytime soon My bff is also very sick and probably wont survive much longer. The grief is really taking its toll on my mental health along with covid. I do exercise daily but struggle with night time snacking. Am hoping to give and get some motivation being on a team! Let's go Waist Aways!!6

I am looking forward to "officially" starting on the team as of Sunday. Every Friday since my son was a toddler (now in 5th grade) we have had a "date night", just he and I. Since covid we have ordered in instead of dining out. I have gotten good about either ordering a healthier option, or dividing my meal in half and putting half away for lunch the next day. Today I ordered something unhealthy AND I ate all of it. So I am feeling a little bloated/stuffed even 2 hours after eating. But, I walked enough today that I still feel okay about my overall intake/output today.
I see some people posting about steps also, is that a daily/weekly thing? I walk a ton at work and am definitely up for a step challenge lol5 -
@MandiSaysHey
Good job on walking off the extra intake! Yes, we have a team within the team who tracks steps and/or exercise. Some people only track steps, others combine steps with strength training, biking, Pilates, yoga, or whatever else. We use a "translator" to convert exercise minutes to steps (you can check it out here https://www.arhs-nc.org/live-healthy/data/StepConversionChart.pdf ). That way we are all on the same units. I do use a bit of flexibility on the exertion factor - super sweaty can hardly breathe vs dawdling along on the bike, for example - but it all adds up! My co-captain @micki48 will be calling out for who wants to be on the step/exercise team when we get going onto the November chat thread tomorrow. Walking a ton at work - you'll give us a run for our money!!3 -
@jugar here is an example of my last 30 days. You can clearly tell which days I didnt work lol b

Great news!!! Glad to see her return. I wonder if Vera is coming back too.
Hi @MandiSaysHey I will be making an announcement about our step team, but if you want to join us, it’s fine to say so now. Also let me know your daily step goal if you’d like. We will start on Sunday. I am a bit behind getting the results out. But you can see what it looks like above.
I actually took two walks today. So great on steps. Food not so much. Still having trouble. I’m sure you’ll see me here 😭tomorrow when I weigh in. It won’t be a surprise. Been eating to way past full. Stress and comfort eating. So fun.
Off to bed because once again I am up past midnight. Sleep is important. Til tomorrow...er later today I guess. 🤗😃2 -

You're doing so well too! You needed a holiday, even if it put a slowdown on your weight loss for a bit. You'll get back at it - you know the drill! Hugs to you - I hope you are feeling rested and revived, although with kids at home, that's a faint hope2 -

To edit, you have one hour. Hover over the top right hand part of your message and the little gear symbol should appear. Click it and you can edit your message. If the gear thingy does not appear, refresh the page first, and then it will be there. You can delete your own post that way too, if you got outta hand and change your mind about posting!2 -

That's amazing! Horses are such majestic, beautiful beasties and admittedly, scare me a tiny bit. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with a back injury that prevents you from riding as often as you'd like! May you make a full recovery and feel right as rain ASAP! What's the name of your Appaloosa? I did a quick google image search and find their speckled coat to be so, so pretty! And you can come play video games with me any time.
I was just going back through messages and found this one I forgot to answer! I always look for an excuse to brag about the horse in my life, and the several in my daughter's. The stallion who is still here (my daughter moved the other 2 out to Alberta when she moved there 20 months ago) is named My Exquisite Heart but his every day name is Montana. Registered names can be really weird because they have to contain something from the dam and sire, but this name suits him really well. He is a stallion and can get pretty crazy when there are mares around sometimes, but once he is in hand, he is a total gentleman. He even waits for me to walk through a gate or doorway before following. And he is lovely to ride, even if a bit anxious sometimes. I miss riding - and the injury is to my big ol' gluteus maximus, not my back thank goodness! I just can't use my seat enough to ride well at the moment. I could be a jockey in one of those postage stamp saddles and stand up all the time, though! Here is my beautiful guy -

@jugar Can I switch to Sunday weigh in for November? Friday nights are apparently my indulging nights now and its showing.
Absolutely. And look at you in the 160s. I still do a double take when you weigh in. It takes a while for my brain to catch up with reality! You are amazing.
Since you're changing from the last weigh-in day to the 1st of the week, I'll put 168 for your final weight for October, but then I'll change your starting weight for November to last week's weight, and then you can weigh in for week 1 tomorrow. Or I'll just put in the 168 from today if you prefer. I hope that makes sense!1 -

I have had an upset GI tract most of the week and am really bloated so I held off posting hoping this morning would be better than yesterday. It wasn't.

Oh dear, this was a bigger gain than I was expecting but I have let loose a bit whilst I've been away and we have eaten well. I'm back home now and have been strict with myself today and have been to the gym already! Straight back on it!3 -
@CanadianGiraffe
So sorry you have not been feeling well! It is hard to keep going during those times, but hopefully you'll be springing back into action very soon.
@spyro88
Get out there and kick that gain to the curb! It was fun while it lasted, but now it is out. Good start!0 -

My brain hasn't caught up at all. I still instinctively type a 2 first when I put my weight down. XD
Sure, I'll weigh in tomorrow. Sounds like a plan!1
