    Way to go @hustle4muscle @sripalbhansali @beautyofdreams.
Feel free to share your piece of advice for the week. I love hearing what makes people successful.

Impressive steps! Great job hitting all your goals. I was very excited to see your big loss this week. Congrats! Can you tell us some of the things that has helped you get on track?

    Thank you @363days and @lindamtuck2018 😊

In case it helps anyone, and because you asked, but not as to say it's the right thing for all*; last week I did my usual workout routine (trying to burn about 1000 active calories each day while also focusing on strength work) and I dedicated more effort on my diet. I did carb cycling and intermittent fasting (20 hour fasts, eating in a 4 hour window). Kept my carbs under 100g mostly, and ate high protein (about 1g per my pound of body weight). Trying not to eat anything processed. Under 1400 calories per day. Planning to continue this week with the same. I made it through the weekend without cheats!

On Sundays I prep food for the week. Today: 12 boneless chicken breasts in the pressure cooker (takes 10 minutes!), steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, parsnips, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, asparagus) and one dozen boiled eggs (my spouse eats from this prep also).

*It is important to do what works for your own lifestyle, goals and nutritional needs.

It is interesting to read your routine. I love hearing about different ways to lose weight. I have picked up so much from my teammates. Just curious if you did your eggs in the instant pot. I got one for Christmas and I thought I read somewhere that it is so easy to do them in there and the shell comes off super easy.

I make my eggs in the instant pot using the trivet. 1 cup of water in the bottom, eggs on the trivet, pressure cook for 7 minutes

I find that 7 is too long for my pot ... it’s an 8qt. I cook mine on low pressure for 5/5/5 ... cook 5, natural release for 5 and ice bath for five. Perfect every time and shells slide right off

I haven't done the natural release for eggs. I'll try this next time and see if the shell comes off easier! Mine is a 6qt

Disappointed in my weigh in, I guess my lunch out and cake last night for hubby’s birthday weren’t smart. I thought I did a good job other than that.

I had only been weighing in once per week but may need to check more often to make sure this additional ounces in the wrong direction come off.

    Question

What is the number one thing you have changed or are going to continue to do to keep your weight loss journey on track for 2021?

Keep working on the next goal/target but mainly limit wine and move!

Hi all! just a quick update....it's been a busy day and I still need to study -_-

So I saw the surgeon today about getting my gallbladder taken out. Apparently it's only classed as elective (wtf) and there is no date yet. He couldn't even give me an estimated timeframe.

At least I am on the list, but now I'm in limbo. I am currently off work- just for this week so far. I tried to make an appt with my family doctor, but she was full up today. So I will have to call in the morning. Mostly just to get a sicknote from work. I definitely can't work like this. Sunday was horrendous- lasting half an hour before needing to sit down. It's not fair on me or the people I work with. We always need all hands on deck, so if I am in the back for half of my shift, that makes things a lot harder for them. I also feel guilty for not being able to help.

So, after my family doctor appointment tomorrow, I will have a chat with my new manager and figure out next steps. I am so frustrated that I just wanna cry.

My wife isn't helping much either because she's mad I didn't let her come into the appointment with me (tbh because of covid I thought that she wouldn't be allowed) and she thinks that she could've got me seen quicker. And she wants me to get a second opinion. The surgeon I am seeing is voted the second-best in the whole of Toronto.... I think I have a good guy here.

I talked to my therapist today, and she suggested I just focus on my studies. I am not as ahead as I thought I would be. It's partly due to the pain but mostly because I am easily distracted. So I am going to focus on that. I have a schedule that I want to stick to. I'm determined to get this course at least mostly done by March.

Anyhoo, sorry for the rant, lol. I just needed to get it out.

I am really happy with my weight loss this week. Considering I can't exercise right now, I am surprised. Next week I am projected to be my TOTM and my weight loss slows down for that week. But I'll tackle that when it comes.

Yes @Megan_smartiepants1970 please take me off the step challenge again for this month. I thought I'd be able to make a smaller amount but it honestly can be hard to move some days :(

@lindamtuck2018 For 2021 I will focus on craving vs. hunger and not have my life just be about weight. Ask for help! I've been doing counseling online regularly and I just scheduled a tutoring session to learn Norwegian. There are specialists out there in every area and I don't have to figure everything out for myself. Finally, stay connected to this group. You guys are so awesome and supportive and real - you share your sucess and challenges and that has helped a lot.

That is so exciting to learn a new language. Just curious why you picked Norwegian. I did end up ordering the beck diet solution workbook off eBay. It is still at my daughters house so I have to pick it up. Did you buy both the book and the workbook? I am wondering if I should get the book. I did ask my secret Santa for it but I got weights to use in the pool instead. I am happy with that though. Just have to wait for lockdown to be over to use them.

I decided to take my measurements for fun because I haven't done it in months. Since I started in April I've lost 3inches off my upper arms, 7 and 8 inches off of my thighs, and 11 inches off my hips. I knew my body was changing of course but oh my goodness those are some bigger numbers than I was expecting.

That is amazing progress. I really regret not taking my measurements when I started. After reading this I am getting a measuring tape and starting. You are such a inspiration for the team!

I think that it is silly that it would be considered elective. You are in a considerable amount of pain and that should be considered. I am glad that you are on the list. Have you researched the best diets for when you have gallbladder trouble. I don’t know if you have access to a dietitian but it could be helpful. I know I can get one for free because I have diabetes. I think you can call telehealth and speak to a dietitian but that could have changed. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Regarding the book by Beck vs the workbook-they seem like two different books and I've spent more time with the workbook just because it gives specific actions to take. I think it would keep anyone busy for a while. I'll take a better look at the book this weekend and let you know more, at this time I've not spent much time with it. I don't know how time gets away from us!
    @littleflutterby
I'm so sorry you are having to wait for treatment. This sounds so painful. Is this due to the method of healthcare in Canada, or are you having to wait for a different reason? I have heard surgeries might be decided differently there but I don't know much about it.

@Beautyofdreams The workbook I've started is The Beck Diet Solution Weight Loss workbook and it has Daily Activities through 30 days. I am finding that it may take me 5 days to incorporate the action for 1 day. As an example "Eat while sitting down". I don't stand to eat but my negative habit is that I ALWAYS eat while watching TV or reading a book. I traced that back to my growing up - I would take a plate of food to my bedroom and read while I ate. My goal on this one is to shoot for 1 meal a day when I am not being distracted during eating. I couldn't even do that yesterday, it's like an addiction, but I will work on it.
The first 7 are 1)Review the advantages of Dieting and everyday, several times a day, read your list. 2) Commit to a diet plan - For me, I realized I was not getting enough protein and even on days that I was within my calories I was clutching my fists because I rarely felt satisfied. I decided to focus on upping my protein and watching carbs (@scorpiogirl170). I also faced the fact I don't like to cook and need high bulk, easy meals or I won't stay with my plan. Yesterday I cooked 4 oz 95% lean beef, added lots of cabbage slaw already cut, green onion, cucumber and Asian Dressing. It was awesome! 3) Eat while sitting down 4) Build your confidence 5)Slow down and be mindful
Beck emphasizes practicing skills such as determining if it is a craving or hunger and although I've heard this a MILLION times before, I decided to try it. He said to eat a big meal at the first of the day and then don't eat again until you feel hunger. Wow, this has worked for me for 3 days now and I've lost 3 pounds (I was up two pounds since weigh in) I know this is bloat but we all know that sometimes the bloat is as hard to lose as the real weight. New recipe that satisfies my carb craving: 3 eggs, 1 ripe banana, 1/4 tsp vanilla - mix very well and cook on griddle. I top with 1/4 cup berries and Cool Whip (if you have seen my food diary you know I am hooked on Cool whip) I have not had a LTD since the first of November and for once I'm excited to think I might. Oh, for the evening binge times I've planned ahead things to do: I called 2 friends, had coloring book and a game ready, and made myself clean house at that time, rather than sitting. If I sound excited - I am - hoping I might finally be on the track that you guys are on, to lose weight regularly. Have a great day!

The workbook you are talking about @363days Does the workbook, work by itself or is there a text book with it? I just found it on google play for 99 cents for the ebook. But I don't want to get it if it should be used in conjunction with another book.

    Checkin 1/12/2021
    weigh in day is friday

    Steps 2017

Today I started drinking a lemonade concoction that I did a couple years ago. It is from a "cleansing system" Anyway, I don't follow the rules to the cleanse, but after doing the drink today, it replaced 2 cups of coffee, I remember how well I felt when I did drink it daily.

It seems to keep me hydrated and does flush my system. Today's I did hot like a hot tea or coffee. If you are curious on the "cleansing system" I found a PDF online for it, I can send you a link in private message.

Like I said, I don't do the salt water flush and I do eat when I do this so I am not doing a cleanse per say, but it does seem to make me feel better. Oh and the laxative tea, I do have some of that as well and it works. I never thought any of that stuff was true but I was very impressed with the results on laxative tea.
