@Cornanda OK, just like you said it’s time for you to reset and look at what you can do the rest of the month to turn things around. If you need some extra incentive, I just want you to know that I’m trying hard to get into the 170s and you wouldn’t want me to pass you by, would you? I need you to challenge me.
@TheGlwUp Have you tried Quest bars? I used to eat them a lot because of the super high protein and low sugar that they have. Lots of great flavors! I also like Premier Protein drinks for when I’m needing more protein. Of course, real food is optimal but sometimes we just gotta make it happen.
@Kinalau Yayyy on getting a teaching summer job! Good for you for making running one of your non-negotiables. That is how I feel about my workouts too. Yayyy on the weight loss this week!!
@askewcr I overindulged yesterday too by eating out. What do we do? We get back on our plan and move forward.

Good morning! I was going to post last evening but then hubby suggested we go out to dinner and have one final splurge before I embark on the next 30 days of doing this Data Driven Fasting challenge. So, of course, I agreed!We went to our favorite brewery that is right around the corner from us and I had the BEST bacon, avocado burger and fries. I also had two yummy IPA beers, which I think was the culprit to us going next door to buy a pint of chocolate ice cream. We ate the ice cream with chopped walnuts on our back porch. Needless to say, my weight is up this morning!
But today is day one of the challenge and I am ready to give it my all!! I have taken my waking blood sugar, weight, waist measurement, and body fat %. There is an app that they use to plug all this in and it will tell me after three days what my blood sugar target is. The goal is to not eat until I’m below the target BG. I’m really hopeful that this will be something that works! And of course, I will keep you all posted.
everybody I've talked count calories plus macros on keto. I am trying to stay under calorie and low carb/low fat to cause my body to burn my fat. I've a friend that drinks oil when he is hungry. Nothing against him but I'm not drinking oil to lose weight. Lol2 -

@TheGlwUp - Emotional eating- I've been there. I would say most, if not all of us have. I'm repeating something I've learned from a very wise diet friend. And I've heard it more than once, but it's just starting to sink into my head so that I can do something with it. "Don't be disappointed in yourself". This can cause a cascade of other actions that derail your progress. Look at your week and remember what you did right. It's so easy to forget that part when we are disappointed in ourselves.

@19shmoo69 - If you were ravenous and all you ate was a boiled chicken breast, I would count that as a win and move on. Sometimes these things happen and you did not respond with a burger or a bag of chips or ice cream! (and drinking oil....... grrrrk! Yuck!)

@TeresaW1020 thank you for your kindness to think of me. The past couple weeks have been challenging (beyond the eating well point of view). Thankfully things are a bit easier this week. I've been eating better, but I still managed to devour two packets of Eccles Cake this week. I didn't buy any more...yet.
I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good weigh in to start off the month of June.
Well done for fasting 20hrs. Hope it is helping you with a better relationship with food.

@laurelfit57 One of my good friends has a Goldendoodle that had no training and it shows big time. The most unruly but loveable dog I’ve ever seen.
Staying the same is good! It means your body is holding steady and next week you can concentrate on losing. Yes, keep your eye firmly on the prize.
@katmary71 The Data Driven Fasting challenge is my newest venture in weight loss and chasing after that magical land called Goal Weight.The basic premise of DDF is that I get my own personal baseline glucose reading and then the goal is to continue to lower that number while losing weight. I check my BG before a meal and I’m not to eat until it’s below my baseline number. I check it an hour later to see how that meal worked for me. The goal after a meal is to not raise BG higher than 30 mg. If it is higher that is a good indicator that whatever that meal was, it probably wasn't good for my body. Like last night's burger, fries, beer, and icecream!
The plan stresses nutrient-dense foods with a big focus on protein and low-carb veggies. Here is a link to DDF main website if your inner geek is interested.

@Lulu_jo That is so incredible that your husband is so supportive of you. Mine is of me too and I am always so thankful. Although my husband certainly isn’t as strong as yours! Wow, 600 lb. deadlift is mind-blowing! The app for the Data Driven Fasting is a web-based app and only attached to the program. I paid $37 for this month’s challenge which included the app. If I love it by the end of the month, I will buy the whole program for $97. @19shmoo69 I’m not saying calories don’t matter. They of course do, but it’s a complicated subject that I’ve spent a good amount of time researching. Dr. Jason Fung in his Obesity Code really opened my eyes to calorie counting and why it might not be the best approach for everyone. And there are others in the Keto world, like Maria and Craig Emmerich that have changed my mind about protein and just how much fat I really need in order to lose the fat on my body. It’s all a huge learning curve and science is always evolving. Don’t you love it!

Hi Team! Today has been a good day. I gave the dog a bath and then she proceeded to go outside and dig, so she ended up with face and paws being scrubbed again and grounded from her precious backyard.I made salmon with a lemon butter dill sauce, asparagus, and sweet potato for dinner tonight. One of my favorite meals! I’m hoping that when I take my BG in an hour that it will show me that sweet potatoes are my friend, and I can eat them occasionally.

I remember you mentioned getting the continuous blood glucose monitor at one point, did you get it? That would make it a lot easier or you'll need a ton of test strips! It makes sense to wait until it's lower. I hope it works out well for you.2

Lost - better start to the month of June. I really do notice, if I don't eat chocolate, I do lose weight than gaining. Not much, but the scales are not increasing. Such a simple idea but to see often, I hope it will stop me buying chocolate.
The weather has been warmer, so I don't feel like eating as much. It's strange, that my ritual breakfast of hot cross bun, yogurt with berries and a cappuccino seems like too much effort to eat. I'd replaced it with just marmalade on a piece of toast. But my appetite has improved and back to hot cross bun ritual (as I don't want to throw away the packet).

That's great that you joined the DDF FB group! Make sure to look under the "guides" tab where there is a ton of great info. I didn't get a CGM. It is very expensive to buy if you don't have diabetes and a doctor that will order one for you. Plus, Marty Kendall doesn't recommend CGMs because he says people can become obsessed over the numbers and blood sugar is going to bounce a lot depending on food, activity, sleep, stress, etc. So, it's just a simple monitor and a whole lot of test strips. My mom had a lot of needles so I'm using those, which is saving me a little money. Once this month is over and I decide to stay with the program then I will be testing a whole lot less. Mostly before a meal to validate hunger. It's fun and exciting!!

I've tried oil pulling also. I can do it but it takes too long. I just use fluoride free toothpaste now.0 -

Hi Team! Today has been another good day. Church was awesome this morning and afterward hubby and I went and bought some new flowers for the containers on the back porch. It was too hot to replant so we will do that in the morning once I get home from doing the grocery shopping. I did a really good upper body workout this morning so plan to take tomorrow off and just work around the house. I’m in the process of trying to organize my recipes. I have tons on Pinterest and a whole binder full of printed ones. I need a master spreadsheet of all the meals I cook so that I can stop spending so much time on menu planning. I told hubby that I just need to treat this project as a job and get it done!!

@trooworld with the energy my pup has and the work Drive, one would think she is a herding dog, but she is not! Where I take her for training, there are a lot of herding dogs there and they think my dog fits right in LOL! She LOVES to work! It sounds like you had a super fun, busy day!

@TeresaW1020 it’s always nice to get a good workout in! I find that when I have such a big project, as you do with your recipes, it can almost be overwhelming so I procrastinate🤨.
Had a great weekend, went camping and the weather held. I think I had everything Well planned out until the s’more’s came out😂. It’s been two years, with all of our lockdowns and everything since we have been camping, so I definitely celebrated and truly enjoyed my s’more!! I think that’s all that I went over, of course it’s impossible to weigh and measure everything out there. Hope everybody had a great weekend!

I can't seem to get my crap in gear to do the weighins, although I am weighing here and there. It's the routine of recording it here that is escaping me - but I want to cheer others on! I ended up not feeling well yesterday. I am diabetic so that may have had something to do with it. Just kind of felt yucky. Ended up having a rest day and just rested. Maybe it was time for one of those days. I do feel better today so I'm ready. It's on again. Let's go get it!2

Hey there- it's Monday!
Spent some time yesterday reviewing my reasons and "remembering" why I want to get this weight off. It's easy for me to "forget" why it's important when I feel like eating something RIGHT NOW! This week I will be working on strengthening my resistance muscle by being aware of and discouraging cravings. I will not eat unless I am hungry.
I walked this morning, then started a cardio work out. I wasn't feeling it, so I bailed after 20 min. Maybe because it was titled "Super fun cardio workout" and they oversold it. I'm going to plan out the workouts for the rest of the week so that they will be fun and I will finish them! Doing well with eating today and over the weekend as well.
@TeresaW1020 - good luck with your recipe organizing. Please share any tips you come up with. I've done well at times when I do a monthly meal rotation. I write out the grocery list ahead of time, and then I can just add things we run out of, like coffee, etc. It saves a lot of time. However, after a couple rotations, we need some new meals so it always craps out after awhile...... Right now I'm at the point where I'm sick of most of my recipes and looking for some new things. Not sure why I get like that!2 -

Hi everyone - my name is Annie, 54, a Brit who has been living in the US since I got married in 1991. We have 2 sons, our 23 yr old lives in Asia & the 21 yr old is a college student, so we are currently part-time empty nesters (as he is back home for the summer). I joined this group at the beginning of 2020 to help lose the 15-20 pounds that I have somehow seemed to have accumulated over the last few years. There have been ups and downs but I'm slowly progressing...and am now only 2 pounds away from my initial goal of 160.
We took a few days off and headed for the Blue Ridge mountains to do some hiking & relax and unwind at a fabulous Airbnb cabin near Luray which was wonderful! As we had not taken any kind of break since October last year it did us the world of good.
I don't post too many comments but do read them all. We have some very entertaining writers in this group.

I got that walk in and am feeling much better today. The weather outside is yucky so I will pretty much stay in today. I walked on our treadmill and I'm so glad we have it.
I'm extra hungry today. I could eat a cow! Have you ever felt like that? I'm about to drink some water because it's not quite time for dinner yet. That's what's going on here.2 -

@Cornanda Back when I was doing the Beck Diet Solution book, I wrote out my why on an index card. I still keep it where I can see it and read it often. Try doing something like that for yourself. I also get sick of my recipes too or my eating style changes and then I have to change my recipes. Like I’m still low-carb but not high fat Keto, so some recipes have to go, and others need to be modified. I make a calendar in Publisher for the month and use that to plan out my dinners. But I do need some kind of master list. I’ll keep you posted!

@askewcr I’m glad that you are feeling better and got your walk in today. I do get extra hungry at times and usually can trace it back to what I’ve been eating or even what I’ve not been eating. If you aren’t feeding your body the nutrients it wants, then it will drive up your cravings. Are you eating enough protein?
Hi Team! Not much going on today. I went to Aldis and Walmart and did the grocery shopping for the week. I started a new puzzle that is called Nuance that hubby bought me. It’s going to be a challenge! I’ll post a pic below so you can see why.I’m getting better at sticking my finger and getting blood so that is a good thing. I got my trigger BG which is 85 so now the goal is to only eat if the trigger is below 85…or whatever it gets lowered to. Today before dinner my BG was at 93 so I went for a slow 10-minute walk on the treadmill that they recommended and it went down to 79. For dinner, I made the best beef tips in a mushroom onion gravy over mashed cauliflower. Hubby said I could make it again anytime.

Data Driven Fasting challenge Day Three! The DDF app set my blood glucose trigger to 85. Which means I can’t eat until the number is lower than that. Over time the app will drop my number according to some kind of crazy math. I’ve got this!!
