Hello team TBBT and a warm welcome to our newcomers!!
Within the main weight loss challenge we have another optional, but highly recommended, challenge. It is called the Mini Ultimate Accountability Challenge, (Mini Challenge), or the MUAC. It is based on another MFP challenge group by the same name, the Ultimate Accountability Challenge or the UAC.
The way it works is simple:
1. Log everything you eat that has calories in MFP.
2. Stay inside your allotted daily calorie budget.
3. Do at least 20 minutes of activity daily. This could be anything that gets you off the couch and being active: run, walk, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym, etc.
4. Report each day on this thread (something to the effect of logged food: yes, under calories: yes, exercise: yes, and a brief description is nice)
****When you post your accountability, please put the date, or the day of the week to which you are referring. We are all in different time zones, and some people post in the evening for that day, and others post the next morning, so it gets confusing trying to decipher without a day or date. Thanks!!!*****
You get one free pass day a week (went over calories, could not log food, rest day, etc). At the end of the week, if you have managed to be "accountable" (three yes's) for at least 6 of 7 days, you will be recognized on this thread as being in the Winner's Circle!
This strategy works for weight loss because it is based on calories in and calories out.
What's great about this challenge is that it works for everyone, as long as you are honest with yourself. There are no dietary restrictions, so you can eat whatever you like, and follow whatever plan you like. Your own daily calorie budget is set by you and MFP and you choose your own exercise and intensity of exercise! Plus it is a practice that can be carried beyond weight loss into maintenance! If you are having a bad week, a new week and a fresh start is just around the corner!
Consistency and new habits have been shown to be the keys to long term successful weight loss. Why not make the Mini Ultimate Accountability Challenge your new habit, that you do consistently?!
The December Challenge and the Mini Ultimate Accountability Challenge start on Sunday November 28th.2 -
Hi, I'm Lisa, 55, and I live in a small town in southwestern Ontario Canada with my husband of 30 years. I work VERY part time in the office of the family farm supply business. We have two grown sons; the oldest is single and lives in town, the youngest has a serious girlfriend and lives in Prague, Czech Republic. He has been there for 14 months. We were able to go see him for 8 days in October. Now he is coming home for a month at Christmas time, and his girlfriend is most likely coming too, but she will arrive just after Christmas. So, needless to say I have a LOT to do to get ready for two house guests. I will apologize now for my extended periods of radio silence, but I will do my best to not be too absent too often.6

Daily check in 11/27
8.23 miles on my exercise bike
Still working on my gallon of water for the day
I didn’t stay within my daily calories 😕 but I’m also not going to beat myself up over it.
To all the new members, welcome! My name is Melissa. I’m 38 years old. Married for 14 years. I have a 16 year old son and 10 year old daughter and two bonus sons from my husband’s first marriage. I live in Southern California and work as a Sr. Accounts Manager for a retail maintenance and construction company. I enjoy walking, jogging, weightlifting, and using my exercise bike as an extra cardio workout. Short term fitness goal is to be able to jog 3 miles without stopping. Long term fitness goal is to be able to run half marathons a few times a year.6 -
Hi, my name is Kristen, I'm 59 years old with a 30 year old daughter. I work at the Idaho State Veterans Home as a Recreation Assistant. Nothing like getting paid to visit, play bingo and other fun stuff. Sounds easy, but it is quite a lot of work, but rewarding. I like to walk, decorate and do crafts. My goals are to stay healthy and loss weight for my health. WE CAN DO THIS, ONE STEP AT A TIME. December is going to be great.💖🎄🎁☃⛄❄🎅🤶4

Phew, thank goodness THAT'S over! At least for the next 27 days. 😊 Should I thank COVID that the multitudes of holiday gatherings, pot lucks and what not are cancelled? 🤷♀️. Double edged sword there. Will post my intro later or tomorrow, just wanted to pop in and say hello. 🙋♀️4

to the new members...I am Mary; 64, living in the greater Houston area. I have lost a bunch of weight this year, mostly due to this site, but took November off from stepping on the scale. I am back for more and am ready to re-commit. Not close to my goal weight yet so eager to get things going again and, yes, a week of salad and water sounds perfect.5

Hi, I'm Jen. 51, live in Denver. I'm a engineer, recently out a relationship and live alone.
I'm taking some time to learn to take care of and focus on my needs and being totally selfish! 😄 I've lost 30 pounds since Aug 20. Goal is to get under 200 by the end of the year. 4.4 pounds to go.
Lovely to meet you all and excited to start this challenge!5 -
Hi all,
Nice to meet you! I'm Trish and this is my first challenge. I'm 49, married for 13 yrs with two boys, 12 and almost 9, living in New Jersey. I work from home as a business operations manager for a large consulting company.
I want to start with a good foundation and this accountability group I hope will help. Feels uncomfortable already, so I take this as a good push in the right direction for better habits. Good luck this week!3 -

@sandkp So smart to watch TV away from the kitchen!! I am loving your mindset, Shawnee; You thoroughly enjoyed Thanksgiving with your family, but that's done. Now you will move forward, once again, with lower calorie food choices and exercise. So inspiring!!1 -
DaffyGirl88 wrote: »@kristiekay1962 Sounds like you have a great plan, let's do it! 🎄🎁🎅🤶
@kristiekay1962 Agreed! You are always so close on calories, that with some higher calorie exercise burns, you should be able to put yourself in a deficit!1
