There are often little "victories" that come along in a month that don't have anything to do with the scale! (And if you're like me, by the time the 15th of the month rolls around, you've forgotten them!) But I want to encourage you to write them down as you think of them throughout the month. NSV's really do help us to remain encouraged and focused in our journey.
There are many ways to measure your progress - other than stepping on the scale.
If you haven't had a chance to read yesterdays NSV's, please take the time to go back and do so. We always have such terrific NSV's in this group.....
We have a few people in the group that have really been struggling this month..... but I've been especially impressed with @WhatMeRunning @Arc2Arc and @jamcnewman . In the past couple of months, they've struggled with everything from infections to injuries, to surgeries, disappointment, and even COVID, yet they've continued to work very HARD at staying focused and staying on task as they strive toward their goals:WhatMeRunning wrote: »Outside of plantar fasciitis bringing an end to running for the last 6 months (and even preventing walks for exercise for 3 months), a surgical procedure requiring no exercise for a few weeks, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and associated holiday stress and indulgences, and even COVID now (mild symptoms for me but no strenuous exercise until my immune system settles down)...I
AM
STILL
GOING
In fact, I'm in perhaps my strongest starting position ever to "get back to it" as I am able. I am primed, ready, and much *kitten* shall be kicked this year!
I love Chris' attitude!!It's ironic I reached my goal weight today, here on NSV day. But the real victory is, to get here, through the holidays, through an injury recurrence that sidelined me from vigorous exercise and with the prospect of one more surgery (ribs) in a couple of weeks...I haven't quit. Oh yeah...all my old jeans fit too :-).
Thanks UAC friends for your inspiration and support! May you all become a little healthier every day.jamcnewman wrote: »Weigh in was today at the doctor’s office on the special scale. Muscle mass, bone mass, water weight all stayed the same; fat loss of 2.2 pounds.
The goal for the past four weeks was maintenance. I was sure I did better than that (and I did). I was a bit disappointed at such a low loss but then needed to remind myself of the three infections and two rounds of antibiotics and one anti-fungal I dealt with in that period. I really struggled in December and had more pass days and missed exercise days than ever before on this journey so far. But, I was a champion and kept reporting in, and didn’t quit. So I am choosing to be proud of myself.
Onwards.
Huge Kudos to all of you.... and to all those who have really been struggling this month but continue to hang in there and stick with it.19 -

Please feel free to comment on each other's NSV's!Also, in January, after seeing our lifestyle changes and weight loss while visiting us at Christmas, both of my adult sons are tweaking their eating in healthier ways. Both are already quite fit, but both took seriously my concerns about their genetic risk for metabolic illness and my desire that they take steps now, in their 20s and early 30s, to make sure to prevent insulin resistance through better nutrition. My oldest decided to try what we are doing and already took off the weight he put on over Christmas and has been exchanging recipes with me. My youngest, who is currently going through a divorce, asked if we might come to visit him to clean out his pantry, get out all the unhealthy food, start his new recipe collection, shop for healthy food with him, and help him learn to make some of the new recipes. My oldest is also sending him the healhy recipes he discovered. So tonight I am here at my son's house, helpfing him with his planning and steps toward better eating.

I've really just been up against myself, but I have been struggling to stay on track with this. But I came back from Thanksgiving, and I came back Hanukkah, and I came back from Christmas, and I came back from New Year's and I'm going to come back from this covid vaccine side effects break. I have the good habits, I know the good habits, and soon I will stick to them.
If I can't be consistent, which it seems I can't, at least I'll make that my motto.
Caroline @Caroline_slowandsteady I your NSV!! THIS is a CHAMPION!! You are def a "Winner" in my book!11 -
@Caroline_slowandsteady You don’t give yourself enough credit — your consistency and tenacity are so admirable. 💐
You are a champion and this booster may have your butt right now as your autoimmune reacts, but you’ll be back before you can say *kitten*. Keep your spirits up and I hope you can watch whatever brings you some joy today. 🥰

NON-Scale Rewards.... Feeling healthier, more Energy, able to do more
Sleeping better... AND... Wearing smaller sizes ... Its like New clothes
everyday from my closet... I spend less time finding something I FEEL ok in
These are all terrific NSVs Deby — and I can personally identify with the wearing “new” smaller clothes from my closet. 😊 Feeling good in the clothes we wear — whether the “not good” is that they are too small or too big — is underrated as an opportunity to give ourselves a boost.
Thanks for sharing your non-scale rewards!

@roma7774 First, I want to say that I'll be keeping your Beloved in my thoughts and prayers this week - I know how stressful and overwhelming that must be for you. I also wanted to acknowledge that as a newbie this month, you haven't used any Pass Days yet, and that's HUGE! Fantastic job!!!5 -
