I took a 30 minute walk through the neighborhood. Not quite as far as my walk in my old neighborhood, but close.
We went out to eat. I had stuffed flounder. I brought half home. It was delicious. All logged. Drank my water, checked in, did my steps. 👍🏻
I forgot to mention this a few days ago, but if anyone has a Fitbit with the EkG app, it really is quite amazing. OH and I were going to bed. He said his heart felt funny. I had him wear my Fitbit and do the ekg. It takes 30 seconds. Sure enough, it says he’s in Afib. 😳 Then you can get a report, which is the Ekg to send to your doctor. I then did mine just to make sure it was working right and mine was fine. Looking at our two ekgs you can see how his is different (uneven beats) than mine. He settled down shortly after as his meds kicked in (I guess) But we’ve never known him to be in Afib before, but he has said it has felt funny before. Good to have it confirmed. Side note he also had a random out of nowhere stroke 19 years ago and they said he did NOT have Afib. But never stated a cause. Hmmm.
Just thought my fellow Fitbit users might find that interesting.

@micki48 My mom has Afib and uses her Apple watch for that very same reason. My Garmin does not have that feature. Definitely a good thing for people to know about. Hope your husband is feeling okay.
Got home, cleaned the house, ate supper, rode the Peloton for 30 minutes, and took my dog for a pre bedtime walk.
Brad cooked like a fiend today but otherwise he is resting and mentally preparing for Saturday.
We are up early to go to the Stampede Parade and then we will work for the afternoon. 10 days of Stampede crazy kicks off tomorrow!2 -
thanks all about the job! very excited!
loving the people getting movement in - @ashleycarole86 and @micki48 with some strong days! And good luck Brad @bowens1973 in your race!
midnight for me here and definitely past bedtime but I had to get my own movement in after getting super distracted by TV all afternoon. walk, workout, and yoga are done. get me to bed!5 -
thanks for well wishes about heartburn - I feel much more normal today, thank goodness.
@jugar good advice -- the doc told me he wants to test for GERD, so I have to stay away from antacids for 2 weeks before I can get the lab work done. see what happens and go from there...
AND more uplifting...CONGRATS on the job - so glad you got just the one you wanted & even better, to have a few weeks off ahead of time, without the pesky job hunt hanging over you!4 -

Slight rebound from the long weekend's indulgences. I'll work harder this weekend at staying within my portion sizes and drinking water!
I brought out my yoga mat to start doing more core exercises over a week ago and it's still sitting in the corner of the room, being used as a scratch post by one of the cats. even 5 minutes a day will help strengthen and ease my daily back pain. Why do I resist what I KNOW will help me?4 -
@Kali225 Congrats on your new job! Enjoy your pre-start time off.
@bowens1973 160 kms through the Rockies. Sounds beautiful (and exhausting!) Impressive!!
@micki48 Really interesting about Fitbit. Did not know about that app. Checked mine and found that I have it, but it was not turned on. I really love my Fitbit and all of the various health info it provides.
@PlaneMonkey "Why do I resist what I KNOW will help me?" Isn't that the million dollar question??!! Wish I had an answer for you (and me).
Injection is scheduled for a week from Monday. Impatient, but that was the first available. A couple of social activities planned over the weekend. I am hosting one, so I can control what is being served. The other is a dinner out. Have checked the menu and know what I will have so should be ok in that case as well.

Glad to see a loss this week. I definitely stayed in my calories but didn't hit my macros this past week. Experiencing some logging/diet fatigue lately. I think I know vacation starts this Sunday so I'm sliding into vacation mode ahead of time 😎 😅!
We leave for the Oregon coast this Sunday and return on Friday. We are staying at the condo we have been staying at for the last 4 or 5 years. We love staying here and being right on the beach. I bought sand dippers this year which are a beach combing tool on a long stick for agate hunting. I also upgraded our sand castle kit this year.
My food plan for the vacation is to stay in calories but not worry about macros. I will be cooking all the meals so that will make calorie control a lot easier. We will probably only eat out once or twice. We mostly cook so none of us really like to eat out more than once or twice a week. We will get in tons of walking on the beach. We will visit the aquarium and a few shops. Maybe we will get to the tide pools which has a nice hike too.
I'm hoping after the trip I will feel refreshed and get my health and fitness motivation back! It's not totally gone but I feel like I just go through the motion right now. Ready to feel excited about it again.
I have a busy next few days of getting ready for the trip. I have my last paper for this quarter of my masters program. I have 80% of it done. The goal is to finish it today and turn it in. Then I don't start next quarter until August.5 -
@Kali225 Congrats on the job! What a great time-line for starting. What is the job and what will you be doing? I'm assuming you will not need to move. I remember you looked at a few jobs out of state.
@bowens1973 How exciting for your race. Wishing you all the best and that all your hard work yields the results you want! It takes a lot of dedication to prepare for a ride like that.
Love hearing everyone's news! So much more to comment on...I'll be back later.4 -
Greetings Friends!
I don't know how, but I managed to miss a couple of days' worth of posts. Just about caught up now.
Super congratulations to you @kali225 on your new job! I'm sure it's going to be great.
I'll come back later - my son's picking me up for an afternoon of discovery.

Another gorgeous day with lots of time in the garden and generally faffing around outdoors. I did manage to be the genius who hit every single construction area traffic mess while trying to run errands this morning, but somehow I did not turn that into a reason to buy peanut M&Ms or cheese bread or ...
A good week for you @conleywoods ! I love your gentle plan for vacation, and I am sure you will do just fine.
Anyone with the solution to why we don't do what we know is good for us will win the diamond and tanzanite studded platinum crown to wear while eating white truffles and Iranian beluga caviar. I'll see to it personally! In the meantime, any strategies that help get us moving in the right direction are always appreciated

@jan110144 @eggfreak @conleywoods @YinxFed and anyone else I missed, thank you! The job is Senior Analyst on the financial planning & analysis (FP&A) team within Corporate Finance at Wayfair, the furniture company! They are based here in Boston, so only a small move in Sept to a new apartment. I love interior design and I WILL be using that employee discount!!
Kristi - love the vacation plan, have so much fun! I can only assume Yinka is also having a great time, thus, losing track of posts here.
I would love a diamond platinum whatever crown but I certainly can't answer the quadrillion dollar question.
Had an awesome workout class this morning, about 50 min of tough HIIT and strength. Foot is still struggling along. About to make some pork cutlets and potatoes for dinner. Happy weekend team!3 -

@kali225 So happy that you have accepted the job that you really wanted. Wishing you all the best in your new position. May it be all that you hoped for. A new job and a move. Exciting times for you.
Today was really humid and hot, but mostly it was the humidity. Got together with my friend and had the grands play together. We took a walk to the park and back - pulled a wagon the whole way with a 3 and 4 year old in it. Met my step goal, drank my water, checked in here. The only thing I haven't done is finished logging my food because my phone died. But I will when it comes to life again.
Kristi have a great vacation! It sounds wonderful. I'm sure you will have this under control. So proud of all you've done lately.
Brad, again wishing you all the best in your race tomorrow. What a wonderful goal to have achieved along with all the other ones you've crushed. You've got this!!! Enjoy the view.
We went out to dinner. Hubby and I shared a sandwich. I also had some soup. All that was fine, but my daughter ordered this BIG pretzel with cheese sauce. It was so good. I ate too many pieces of it and now I feel blegh! Must be all those carbs. Not painful. Just uncomfortable and want to go to sleep. Oh well, next time I will pull off some pieces on a plate that is a serving for me and stick with that only. No mindless eating of a community appy.
Well, I'm going to call it a night. Have a good one.5 -
So this was what I had at the fair today:
Cookie dough mini donuts. I only managed to eat half of them and then I felt so overwhelmed and full I tossed the rest. Barely ate dinner, even, which is weird for just eating 5 mini donuts. Very rich, I guess. I also nibbled some bison jerky. Bison is yummy.
No rides except the sky ride, but we saw all the vendors and got lots of sun. I was grateful for my cowboy hat, for sure.
I took 11,000 steps today, and my legs are sore. I have to work tomorrow even though it's Saturday and man. I wish I didn't. -_-6 -
Thanks for all the well wishes for Brad tomorrow. We are climbing into bed early for the 5 a.m. wake up call. He appreciates all the comments... we'll let you know how he does!4

@Terytha
Thanks for sharing the pic.. I love cookie dough so that was on my list of maybes. Thinking based on your report I'll try something else.
It was definitely a warm one out there today. Bummer about work tomorrow...3 -
Less than 12 hours till the starting pistol goes off... Hoping I get some decent sleep tonight. Will need every minute I can get. I think I've thought of everything (heart rate monitor, bike computer and power meter are charged, bear spray is packed, clothes are laid out, nutrition is in my bike bag, water bottles ready to be filled, tires are pumped, chain is lubed, bike is scrubbed, etc.). Sincere thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I will try to remember to take some photos to share... Hope everyone has a great weekend!5

Some photos from the Calgary Stampede earlier today - my beautiful wife is my favourite cowgirl on the planet!
Recognize the guy on the horse? Kevin Costner was this year's parade Marshall. He looked totally at home on his horse - the real deal!

@bowens1973 kick butt! @ashleycarole86 take tons of photos. Can't wait to hear how it went. I hope Brad gets to enjoy some of the scenery on the downhills!3

Hello everyone,
and hello @ells_bellz,
I just read your July 6th message, and your plea for being taken out of the log in and it made me remember how I felt for weeks in the last few months of loosing my power and slipping away in over eating mode. Just wanted to say "hang in there"! "Trust yourself". You will find your balance again. After months, I finally broke out of the never ending cravings circle 14 days ago when I left my son at camp and took the opportunity to focus on me primarily for the first time in 12 years. I will pick my son up today and I can say I had two weeks of perfect diet and lost about 5 pounds in those weeks by simply starting by one perfect day and aiming for one more at a time. Great that you have 7 weeks of work and can focus on yourself! Good luck.
So my next challenge is to not overeat once my son will be back... It will be harder, no doubt, but I can do it!5 -
Good morning! Love those photos Ashley and Brad! I recognized Kevin Costner right away! Sending good vibes to Brad as he is riding.
@Terytha Isn’t it funny how we look forward to something and then eat it and not feel great. I did that with a huge pretzel and cheese we shared last night. That said, the mini donuts look yummy, but probably better to share with lots of friends so all you get is one. I’ll help! 😉
I know there are a few of us older women here and I just want to say, in my experience, mornings kinda suck. I don’t know what is going on, whether it’s my bed (which is newer), my side sleep position, meds, or what but I am waking feeling terrible. My joints s he and are so stiff. I’m too young for this! 😂 It seems it has been worse in the last few months, during which time bp meds were doubled and I haven’t been doing my regular Pilates. Or food? Ugh. Something’s got to help.
Not sure what the plan is for today, but I will be thinking about Brad biking through Banff.

Ugh, I'm so tired. Working today sucked. I haven't had weekend shifts in a decade. I can't complain too much because it was our idea to go in today but still.
Next Friday we're doing axe throwing, which is the first event I've planned completely myself, and there will be food but since they left me in charge of the caterers, it's mostly healthy food. XD
And next Saturday I'm not even getting dressed. Seriously. July is nearly non-stop, I need a day to do nothing.6
