Woo hoo!! Winners by a big margin this time - and 73% of us in the green What a team.
Almost every month the middle weeks tend more towards slump than triumph - we are turning that around this month. 2 more weeks to go - let's keep the momentum rolling!6 -

Steady does it! All going well in terms of food choices and exercise. Struggling a wee bit with sleep. Not awful, but need to see if I can work it out what is interfering.6 -
Hi team! Great job this week on our impressive win for the highest percentage and weight loss. We are always winners for showing up everyday for our health and taking the neccessary steps to hold ourselves accountable to make changes.
GO TEAM WAISTAWAYS!!!6 -
Everyone has been doing so good with their steps. Kudos to everyone that's part of the step challenge. I want to join but im sure a lot of days will be slacky. I use to be really good with my daily steps when I was doing walking workouts daily. Step videos to get in my daily steps and exercising at the same time. Win win lol. Now im doing more strength training which really doesn't keep your feet moving. Something else to add to my list of goals for August.5

@Kali225 this is a late post but I've found that sometimes the scale needs to recalibrate. When I first get on the scale it will read one number and when u get off and get back on it reads something totally different. My brother is a personal trainer and said to first tap the scale to set it at zero then get on it again. I always want accurate results and have started the habit of getting on and off 3 times to make sure the numbers are the same. Oh and the scales with the foot pads on them are soooo in accurate. I have gotten on my plain glass scale and got on my husbands scale and the numbers are way off. Spoke to my brother about it and he said he always tells his clients not to buy those.
Also congratulations on your new apartment. Moving is never fun but the reward after you move in and the noise settles down is so rewarding.5 -
@YinxFed glad you had a wonderful vacation despite the travel delays but you made it home safely.
@Terytha I've always wanted to try axe throwing and going to one of those places where you get to smash things. I've heard it's such a good stress reliever.
@KellyBgetsfit I hope your little one is getting better and that you're doing ok with everything that's going on.5 -
I've had a great week and am very happy that I managed to get through that time of the month without ransacking my pantry and refrigerator. For me this is a huge win. I always look at the scale afterwards and saw a huge 10lb jump which is so discouraging. Although mentally I know its tons of water weight added with all the unnecessary eating I still end up feeling like why not keep eating the junk.
These past few weeks I've managed to give myself that morning pep talk and keep pushing everyday for that win. As of last night im feeling defeated. I had a wonderful day with my boys and husband to only end up coming home and once I relaxed ended up with a major neck spasm. I've never had any pain like this in my life. Even keeping my neck straight still results in this unbearable pain. I looked it up and its the sternocleidomastoid muscle putting me in sooo much pain. I couldn't work out last night and cried in defeat. According to what im reading this pain will take a week to go away. A WEEK! I can't go a week wothout working out. Idk what to do. I seriously feel like I failed myself. I'm sure what reaulted in this pain was Fridays kickboxing workout. What I can't understand is how I woke up and got through a whole day pain free to end up bed ridden. I didn't close my eyes until 5am this morning due to all the pain and not being able to get comfortable. These neck exercises im sure will do nothing to help with the pain because I can barely move.
Everytime im back in the game something derails me😔6 -

I appreciate the pain you’re in and know there are some wonderful techniques to help release the SCM muscles. Yes, it’s discouraging to have it feel worse two days later but remember, we live our lives every day, start making amazing changes including working out and BAM!! Stuff happens.
Download the App called, “BALANCE”.
It’s free for the first year & has practical guided meditations which help with pain, etc. Help is available. I’ll energetically send my hands to you and work out that neck-kink!4 -
Quick check in for me after a long day - I am so tired but I still plan to workout and do some more meal prep for the week before I drop dead into bed at 11pm.
@Shawtytel so sorry to hear about your pain!! That is SO frustrating. It's easier said than done but you have been in a great groove and you don't have to let this derail you. adjust the morning pep talk to include "this neck pain is not forever!" if you can't workout for the next week, focus on the intake side. life likes to throw curveballs our way.
I'm having a bit of pain myself - the beach day yesterday was really fun, but I did end up with a few patches of sunburn on my legs. With moisturizer, it will fade in a few days. However, my lips, which are always chapped year-round, also apparently got sunburned but I didn't realize that last night. Not thinking it through, I put some vaseline on them for overnight (for anyone who doesn't know, you should never put a jelly/petroleum-like product on sunburn, because it traps the heat from the burn in your skin and makes it much worse). I woke up to Jennifer Coolidge-level swollen lips! I thought I was having an allergic reaction! Not comfy. Cold compress has helped the swelling come down and hopefully it will also be gone in a few days. ugh.
Proud of myself for sticking to my no-drinking plan for my friends' birthday brunch and 2 breweries today. Should be under calories tonight but it was a large lunch, so I am a little nervous about tuesday's number. I want that green week!!
And GO TEAM for our win this week! Awesome!

I hope your neck feels better fast @Shawtytel - that kind of pain can be nasty! Talk with a physiotherapist as soon as you can, and hopefully there are good ways to relieve the spasm and get the inflammation down. Hugs (gentle ones!) coming your way.
I have had a lazy eaty kind of day today, but also had some lovely talks with my dad. Tomorrow I get to go on a hike, so hopefully the extra calories from today will get shifted. Tally ho, my friends!3 -

Way to go Waistaways!!!! FIRST PLACE AGAIN! Our teams’ loss was 20 of 27 pounds total for all teams?! That is amazing! Keep it going team. Yay to everyone. 🎉👏🏼🌟4 -
I was having a very good eating day and had everything planned out. Got to my evening snack and both of the brand new containers of cottage cheese had mold! Checked the expiration date and they expired a week ago. Sooooo annoying 🙄 Fine, I'll just use plain yogurt. Nope that one is expired too. I will be taking them back to the grocery store tomorrow. I did not hit my protein goal today so thats a bummer. I did get in a short hike for 35 minutes. My feet are still pretty sore and I noticed a little swelling this evening.
This morning I stepped on the scale and I was lower than when I went on vacation! Woo-hoo 🙌 Hopefully my birthday tea won't throw it off too much. I will enjoy the treats at the tea house but don't have anything else planned dessert wise.

I hope everybody had a good weekend; don't have time to comment individually, unfortunately! I am at inbox zero in both my work and customer-work accounts before 9am on a Monday which is unusual, but will be setting off to collect a colleague and visit our customer after lunch, so it's no bad thing. I do have a couple of meetings this morning and an ongoing task, but the latter is not getting finished today anyway.
I am pleased with my weigh in - although for some reason the scales at one point said 69.5; somehow I don't think so! - because I've been on a mild-binge since Friday morning. I got an email from my therapist saying that our insurance-paid-for sessions are coming to an end after the next one so that made me a bit anxious. Then I've been anxious about the work trip; what if it gets cancelled (and the hotel is non-refundable...), what if the catering is not stuff I eat because I'm kinda fussy, what if everything goes horribly wrong - even though I'm really looking forward to meeting this customer in person.
Therapy I will try my other insurances (I have two or three more which offer limited complimentary therapy sessions) and see if I can have their sessions with the same person, or I'll just pay out of pocket. We're making good progress and this is important, so I can prioritise it in the budget. The work trip hasn't been cancelled yet, I'm going to take some food bits with me just in case, and if everything goes horribly wrong I'll just deal with it. And I shall be making a joke at my own expense for booking the 'wrong' hotel.
Over the weekend OH and I tried to relax and spend some time together. We also finished the a-frames for the allotment to support the cucumber/squashes, and yesterday when he was at work I put a trellis up behind the climbing rose; I have the scratches to prove it! Far too hot to wear the thorn-protection gloves, which are thick leather and go all the way up to my elbow. It was also too hot to tackle the next section of the allotment, so instead I photographed my recipe books and I can start transcribing them into Google Keep, hopefully making a start whilst I'm in the hotel room this week.
Front to back: onions and a chilli plant, garlic, strawberries, broccoli and cauliflower, French beans, peas, weeds!
Front to back: weeds, potatoes, parnsips and beetroot, carrots (and weeds), squashes and cucumbers, tomatoes and yet more weeds
There's still a lot to do, but I feel it looks like a proper little allotment now!
And the cats, enjoying what little shade we could give them. Spock at the front, Kirk at the back.

Good Morning all!
So guess from last week to now...my overall change is nil

Honestly - I'm not even mad because my SO made me a carrot cake for my bday (with 1.5c of oil and full fat cream cheese for the frosting) and I may have had 3 pieces yesterday (and a piece for breakfast this morning). Sooooo I guess I'll take a no change week lol.
So last night we got a wicked storm with 80mph winds and crazy hail. More of my tree limbs have been ripped off which makes me beyond sad and my solar tubes look like swiss cheese. I want to take them down and replace them with panels but I'm afraid that they'll get damaged in the future since these hail storms are becoming more frequent.
@jugar Let me know if this is the right format for everything...

Fri: 9,756 (incl 2.25mi walk) + 12.63mi bike

also @DD265 oh man, I need to get my (5) kitties that thing! My guy (only one is a boy) tried to get out this morning to investigate the damage and I think they'd love something like that. Mine are exclusively indoor cats and I'm afraid that if they get a taste of going out, that they'll turn into escape artists. Have you noticed that about yours? Mine are also intact - do you find that claws tend to be a problem with the mesh?3 -
Good morning everyone or afternoon for some.
@DD265 I love the kitty photos and the allotment. You have certainly been busy. It’s coming along nicely. I haven’t gotten any tomatoes yet because the critters are beating me to them.
@conleywoods How frustrating when you go to eat something you just bought and it’s bad or expired. You handled it well. Kudos to you for losing weight on your vacation. A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and hugs too. 🤗❤️
@Shawtytel Sorry to hear about your next pain. Until there is pain, we don’t realize all the muscles we use just to hold our heads up. Hope @EvMakesChanges healing vibes help you. Don’t sweat the workouts. Listen to your body. It’s telling you to rest. Like @Kali225 said, focus on intake and rest. Our Pilates group has a mantra of “Grace over guilt”. Give yourself some grace to heal and remember your muscles have memory and will spring back. Take care.
@jugar Have a great hike in lovely Maine.
@Kali225 Hope your sunburn has calmed down especially your Jennifer Coolidge lips. That visual gave me a giggle. Hope it’s better now.
Don’t have a plan yet today. Just trying to get my 💦 and steps in and log. The little one came in and we did 15 minutes of Pilates together. My little motivator. 🧘🏻♀️
Hope everyone makes it a great day.4 -
@MoonlitMuse It's great. Originally, before we had the catio built (which is apparently inferior to the tents despite costing about 10x more...), we got a dog agility tunnel and connected the tents to the conservatory door with a fly net/mesh curtain so they could come and go. Worked great, until they figured out how to force the fly net apart and escape! Now we take them to/from the tents, but they have free access to the catio through a cat flap, so they still can't roam at all. Claws don't seem to cause any issues; mostly they enjoy snoozing in the shade.
Had a great 3.5 hour drive down to the customer's area today; no traffic issues at all which was unexpected but much appreciated. Certainly more comfortable in the car with aircon than at home! I went to Nandos for tea with my colleague and I had chicken, chips and corn on the cob as they were out of salad. Then we went for a walk on Felixstowe Beach which is only 15 minutes away and was lovely. I think it had been very busy earlier, but it was quiet and the temperature was perfect! If this is the theme for my week I shall be made up - and the 'wrong hotel' is fine3 -
It is amazing that the UK is hotter than where I live in late July. That hardly ever happens - but wow. Such temps.
I had a fabulous hike this morning all around and up a small mountain in coastal Maine. I was worried it would be terribly crowded, since everything around here seems terribly crowded to me, but the trails reserved for hiking only were very empty. Most of the time I was the only person in sight. The summit was busy, partly because it was the only area with a nice breeze to keep the warm humid air and the bugs off, but the trails were still lovely. I'll post a couple of pics when I get it together.
Off to Tuesday weigh-ins! Are you ready?
@CarolAnnM2 (Monday, but either I missed it or you did not post yet - I'll check!)

@EvMakesChanges- Thank you for helping with my neck-kink and telling me about the Balance app. I will definitely look into it and hopefully it has just what I need to get through this.
@Kali225- I will try that pep talk tomorrow morning because I feel like I'm losing my will to keep going because of this pain. I want green week too! Sun burn sucks! Try Shea Butter. It's always worked for me.
@jugar- A heat pad and ice pack has taken down some of the inflammation enough that I had a good nights rest as well as doing neck stretching.
@micki48- It's so true how much we never truly realize how our bodies work until you have an injury. The pain is in my neck and even keeping it straight and moving another part of my body will set it off. We really are not aware how much our muscles are all inadvertently connected. Such an eye opener.
Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I'm feeling better today but not 100% yet. Day by day!5 -

Good morning all. Yesterday was busy with getting everything done before spending the afternoon getting hip injected. The injection was a piece of cake ... much less uncomfortable that when I had my knee injected several years ago. Only discomfort was the quick prick when they did the local anesthetic. So far so good ... no real issues this morning. I have had no pain meds and will not take any see. Will plan to get minimum steps in, but nothing really rigorous for the next two days. Starting Thursday ... pretty much full scale normal (hopefully )
On the negative side, yesterday was pretty bad for everything else ... did not meal plan, overdid when we went out to dinner post-injection, snacked last night, and slept poorly. Back at it today.
@shawtytel2 I hope you find some pain relief.
@jugar A friend and I will be going to Maine in September. So looking forward to it. Have only been there once before and then just briefly to attend a conference in Kennebunkport. Unfortunately, I was not able to extend the trip to explore the area so this will be almost like my first visit.

I will take that small green week! I was watching the scale go up and up the last few days but my period is due in 2 ish days and it's been so long since I was on a reliable down trend, that I haven't been able to notice what used to be a 3-5 lb gain in hormonal bloat. Between that and the after effects of 3 days out in one week, I am hopefully set up for a final July week in the green.
@jan110144 glad to hear the injection went well!6 -
@MoonlitMuse Thanks for the steps - looks great! Happy to have you on board!
For running and biking, I am just using a conversion based on an assumed speed to give you credit, but if you have the ability to give time and speed for those activities, even better! But it all works. Also, do you have a daily step pledge you're aiming for? Reminder that the other activites are converted to steps and count towards this.
Just looking for steps from @YinxFed and then I'll get the report out to the team as soon as I can.
We got to the airport bright and early, had breakfast, and now we're waiting at the gate. I have about a third of my daily steps but I'll likely go wander a bit more before we get on the flight since it's about 4 hours of sitting. Should be able to get a nice walk in when we get to Toronto tonight.

Ohhhh Stampede, you were fun!!! Off on vacation for 2 weeks. Hoping/working to stay under 180 and then on to a speedy drop to get ready for my race in Vancouver.6 -
Husband has the flu. Or at least, probably the flu since our covid test came back negative. This is the first time in three years either of us has been sick.
He's beyond crushed about it since we have to postpone a specialist appointment he's been waiting 6 months for. It's only until next week thankfully but he's been suffering for so long.
In happier news I was cleaning out my
wallet and found unused Indigo gift cards. I promptly bought 4 books I've been wanting.6 -
@ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973 good luck with Pearson!! As much as I love that airport (worked there for 3 years) I do not envy you passing through it during all the staffing turmoil. Best of luck making it out the other side with all of your luggage and without standing in a line for more than an hour. You likely have a direct flight and there's no severe weather in the forecast to cause delays and diversions so at least that removes one potential hiccup.
I'll be heading to the Kawartha's on Saturday so I will send you a nearby high-five when I get there.
My weekend pot luck was tasty and I'm back on plan today for a perfect day to reset. I kayaked a bit around the little lake (read: large pond) but a great nsv I had was I jumped in the water to cool off and managed to tread water while carrying on a conversation, in my second language, for over 15 minutes. That would have never happened before joining MFP and this group.
I have a family reunion this coming weekend so I will try to find balance between the unlimited free food at the resort and the exercise and games planned. Fingers crossed I get to try water skiing for the first time!
@jan110144 glad to hear the injection went well. I'm sure your horse is looking forward to more quality time together!
@Terytha aren't books just the best?!? Hope your hubby feels better soon and you don't succumb to it.4 -
