Ok peeps, I am reporting early today and I will be off line for about 2 weeks. This is my real vacation celebrating 30 years with my hubby.
I saw in Instagram this guy from PA that quoted: Don’t quit because if you quit, you’ll go back to where you first began and when you first began, you were desperate to get to where you are right now. Keep going!
It keeps me going, hope it helps you keep going too.

I'm not feeling bad about this little gain. It was a week of transitions for our family. I managed to get to bed at a decent time every night (one of my Sept goals), fit some good workouts in, keep daily food logging and I'm feeling good about all of that!

I have been walking to drop and pick up at school, so it is about a 30 min walk in the morning and afternoon. I also do 30 mins of weight and circuit training on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. I have completely changed my workout routine, which is awesome. I've also started drinking way more water on consistent days. My only issue is eating. With all the stressors recently, I've gone back to emotional eating like crazy. I need to get back to logging everything, because I'm gaining weight like crazy. Really sad about it.4 -

Thank you for the tips for bedding. Chenille doesn't seem to be a thing here, I can't find it anywhere online. Egyptian cotton is way out of my budget unfortunately! I am more of a 20 bucks Ikea bedsheet kind of girl, lol. I feel like in summer nothing will work for me. Blankets are just too much so I usually end up sleeping under the empty bedsheets which is fine. I might try a bamboo duvet since those are also pretty cool. I will buy 2 new sets of bedsheets soon though. Not having a spare is a little annoying. I also noticed that my pillowcase is so used up that the color is fading a lot and the material has gotten so thin that it is getting holes in it. So it's time for something new for sure. It feels like every month there is something I need to replace and it is really frustrating me. Everything is expensive; with the insane energy prices and food also costing more, I can really feel it in my wallet.
If you watch, you can find really good deals on Egyptian cotton sets, but you have to watch for them. I usually get a set once or twice a year and they last really well because of the high thread count. I can usually find a good price of about $39 for the set on sale (flat, fitted and 2 pillow cases). My sets last at least a year or two before wearing out. Well worth the cost, but just watch for the sales. Black Friday in the US is a great time I can find a great price. Amazon is world-wide I believe. I'll keep my eyes peeled and let you know what I find. If shipping wasn't so insanely expensive, I'd offer to find and ship to you. Hope you find something that works...give me the names of a couple of chain stores that might be in both your country and mine and I'll keep my eye out for the Chenille. It's really nice.

P.S. By the way, I made a note of your linen recommendations. After I finish my decluttering project this winter, I need to upgrade a few things. I have heard quality bedsheets, blankets, and pillows can improve sleep so I’d like to invest in my wellness in that area. Like @Pupowl , I was struck by the price of the quality products, but I think it might be worth a try. I decided to reduce the number of low quality items and taking better care of the things that make me feel good. I definitely agree that we need to have a spare set to change the bed but I don’t need multiple sets that fit poorly, etc. Thanks again for the shopping tips!1 -

This is because I had a "Condemned Prisoner's Last Meal" on 08/31 late at night; so a lot of the PW was probably fluid retained from all the sodium and not having "cleared" whatever I ate the night before - PLUS I exercised like a fiend and was very careful over the next seven days. Here are my Initial Stats, next to my Current Stats according to my home scale (definitely showing progress with my body composition:

My moms parents immigrated to Canada in the 50’s from the Netherlands. We still have a few food traditions.
Can’t wait to visit again, I haven’t been to the Netherlands since I was 8. We had some family visit over Christmas just before COVID, they were so excited for a White Christmas. 😊3 -

WTF??? Ugh, what a horrible week. I was traveling for much of it, and I never do well away from my routine and eating in airports and hotels, but almost a 4 pound gain? Seriously? I am beyond dejected (and I have 2 more trips over the next month). I need some help and guidance; I don’t want to get so down that I spiral and just give up. Some support would be greatly appreciated 💜. On a positive note, I should also say that my doctor started me on Mounjaro (injectables) yesterday, so hopefully that will help.4 -
@nancyinmo do you think it could just be water retention from increased salt and carbohydrates? I can easily be up 5lbs from pizza night but it goes away in a couple days2

@nancyinmo - The MFP ‘must read’ recommendation for motivation and support highlights this thread about short-term versus long-term perspective on how to reach a healthy weight and maintain it over time. It might help you continue to engage in the process of improving instead of giving up your vision for the future.
We can learn a lot about what works and doesn’t work by reflecting on losses and gains; so we can reinforce what works, and make adjustments when something isn’t working.
As my son often says: there is no losing, just winning and learning!

Hey @nancyinmo good morning! If you were traveling for much of the week, my guess is a lot of this is stress-induced and water retention driven. Also, if you were eating in airports and hotels, you likely had a LOT of sodium, which would also reflect the water retention. Don't let it get you down, just make an eating plan for this next week, map out your nutrition plan for the week and let it guide you accordingly. Always have a plan B for days when you're forced to eat out (one or two quick restaurant meals that are lower in fat and calories) based on whatever nutrition plan you're following. That way, if you have to make a quick pit stop, you're mentally prepared. You'll bounce back because I don't think your 4 lb gain was a true 4 lb gain...2-3 lbs if not all, is likely water.

If you think about the number of calories it takes to gain 3.8 pounds, you can get a better sense of whether it’s a true gain.
While not exact, a pound equals about 3,500 calories so you would have to eat approximately 13,300 calories over your maintenance level to gain 3.8 pounds. So, an objective review of your intake will likely give you a better picture of the weigh in. The scale is one data point; it’s helpful but not the full story. Hang in there!1 -
Step Challenge Request
We're now finished with our first week of Sep and I'm still awaiting complete numbers for Aug for our step challenge. Walkers, please be diligent in checking the chart and posting your steps every few days. It makes the maintenance of the stats so much easier. I don't like to have to hound everyone for reporting.
I would like to have Aug wrapped up soon in order to announce our winners and move our focus to Sep. Above is what I see for Week 5 of August, so please report any missing steps sometime this weekend. As always, if I missed any days, please let me know.
