I have been carrying around a lot of weight as inflammation for quite a while, but my ankles are no longer so swollen that my ankle bones are gone! That is today's NSV!
@Stimpy56 Are you sticking with Atkins for the new year? I know a lot of people lose weight with it and are successful.

@buniphuphu - Yes I am!. I started in Sept and did well until the Holidays. Now I am back on the high protein low carb diet which is easy for me to follow. The hardest part was not putting Sugar in my morning coffee, but now I am used to it.

Welcome to all our new and returning team mates!
My name is Ginny and I am 61 years old. I am retired and live just west of Albany, NY. January will be my fifth month since joining this challenge and, since September, I have lost 13.7 lbs. The weight is coming off more slowly now than it was when I first made this lifestyle change but I am determined not to get frustrated. My long term goal is to reach 135 lbs so I have about 34 more lbs to go.
I made this lifestyle change in January 2022 at 230 lbs. At 5"3" tall I was 90 lbs over the top of the healthy BMI range for my height. I was tired of feeling unwell and in pain all the time. I had no energy, constant pain in my knees and hips, and no stamina. I never exercised and couldn't climb a flight of stairs without being out of breath. As of my latest weigh in I have lost a total of 60.9 lbs and am no longer considered to be in the obese weight range for my height. Even more important than the weight loss is the improvement in my physical condition, mental well being, and quality of life. Now I rarely have pain in my knees and hips, I have more energy and my stamina has dramatically improved.
Today is my 1 year anniversary of tracking and maintaining my food diary in MFP.
My goal for 2023 is to reach 140 lbs and begin easing into the maintenance phase. That goal may change after I see my Dr in June. My mini goal for January is to lose 4 lbs.
Wishing you the best of success for this month's challenge and for the coming year!5 -

Last week was not a good one for moving around. I had a head cold with a hard time breathing so not much sleep at night but plenty of naps during the day. Feeling much better yesterday and today.
Also got good news/bad news from the doctor. My cancer is confined to the liver but has grown just enough to say the latest chemo is not working and there's not many options left. I decided to try radiation beads which have had great results against prostrate cancer hoping it will kill what I have. I will try to focus on the positive which has gotten me this far!10 -
Hi. Sherrill from Washington state here.
I had a response to join this team so throwing out my introduction.
Having an odd time trying to find threads on the app. Any tips on easier thread viewing?

Welcome! What kind of a response would make you throw out your intro?
My tip: bookmark it. I almost never go to the main community area anymore. I click community (phone) and then bookmarks.
Also: my Sat steps were...4656 ish. I did a lot of running around without my phone, so I guesstimate.2 -
I am completely back peeps

Happy New Year! I’m Rachel from Tn USA . I’ve been on F2F since New Year’s 2021. I was 198 at my highest and about 140 at my lowest. Here I am two years later on an uphill weight trend that started in the summer of 2022. By my calculations I put on 20 pounds in less than six months time in 2022 . My 2023 New Year’s Resolution is to go in reverse and lose 15 to 20 pounds by June.
I’m a high school science teacher and mom to two teenagers. Like so many others on here, my downfall is stress and emotional overeating and overindulgence in sweets . I hope that we all overcome the temptation to overeat our calories in 2023! We can do it!

@GinLee61 How exciting to be so close to maintenance! Four pounds in January sounds like a great goal!
@____Becks____ Wow! Great loss to start the new year! I hope this is a good sign for a successful year ahead!
@pacsnc6 I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope the beads shrink the tumor, and you do not have too many side effects.
@baabonnybelle Welcome! I'm new to WNM, too! It's great that you are starting off with a loss. Nothing like starting a new venture on the right foot!
@rachelrjh One of my goals for 2023 is to lose what I put on during 2022...plus some extra pounds if possible. Hopefully, we meet our goals!
The thing I took intentional notice of today was my diet. I have been eating a lot fewer calories, but I have not been getting that many fruits and veggies in. I have mostly been relying on either an apple or some raw mushrooms. I'm adding in two servings of veggies with dinner tonight and planning some fruit for an evening snack tonight.6 -
@melaniedscott We all need to work around our work schedules with eating and workout arrangements. I work from home and either done working or able to take a break long enough to have my last good meal way before 5. But in terms of adding more that 1 workouts - impossible. Work, family life, trying to hit 10K, yoga - even a short workout sometimes is pretty difficult to squeeze in. I really like FitOn - they have a wide variety of free workouts of different length and kid. Today I did stretch and lengthen - very much needed after a hike and previous workouts.
@buniphuphu I tried those pads (different kinds) but they did not work for me. I found out that hiking does not make it worse but walking on sidewalks, cement, treadmill - does. So now, when I walki to/from school with m y daughter, I try to walk on grass.
I also noticed that if I eat foods rich in gluten, mainly wheat-based ones (bread, pasta), my feet tend to swell a lot.
@pacsnc6 Sending my warmest thoughts your way. Reading your posts help me put myself together. You are so strong!3 -
So far the first few days of January have gone well - and I have mostly kept to healthy food choices. I have found myself still giving in to cravings and falling back to some of my old bad habits but each day it feels easier. I am starting to realize that I need to occasionally allow myself to indulge in a small treat like that slice of pizza or piece of chocolate in order for this to be sustainable. I think the key is occasional and not daily.
@buniphuphu I also struggled with getting enough fruits and vegetables in my day (especially vegetables). I started adding them to my breakfast. Every morning I always make a smoothie with almond milk, some berries and collagen powder. This morning I added baby spinach to it and in the future will try some other veggies as well. An easy way to incorporate some veggies and delicious6 -
