I'm super worried about the exercise component of my weight loss journey. Last time I took an awesome class. it was super high aerobic dancy type class. I loved it. However I have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. I got injections in my foot in September so I could take my son ziplining in Cayman Islands for his 13th birthday. It helped for a while but my foot hurts again. I am sure that it's due to not wearing my brace or doing my exercises. There is no way I am going to be able to do a class. I started wearing my brace again last night and did my exercises before I got up this morning. My hope is that with the combination of not putting 263lb of weight on it will help lesson the pain and I can add back in exercise in a month or so.

Any movement that is extra is a great start! Even if it is just the long way to the bathroom or parking at the end of the lot!

    Good job, Athijade!
Probably good to find exercises that don't require you to be on your foot, Scout Mom. Not easy. How about swimming???

Swimming is the only exercise I like….I don’t know if I am sweating!…last go round, I didn’t do any extra exercise the first year!…currently I am anxious to start swimming again in a couple of weeks…I wish I could walk because our weather is gorgeous this week…70s and low 80s….

    A w e s o m e @Athijade ❣️

One of my first goals in 2014 was a month with no single day less than 5,000 steps. That's for a person who already had a dog and was "used" to taking him out for "an hour" Still took me 3-4 months to accomplish the 30 days @5k+ steps. It was more than 8 months before I hit occasional days of 10k steps. I was also somewhere above 280lbs (at 172.25 cm ) when starting--there's that!

So patience and good injury / workaround management!!!

    @scoutmom1981 ... well from your name you're a "young-one" :wink:
So we may have different "athletic" goals.
I won't say that I've never raised a sweat... it does happen from time to time by accident--in spite of my best intentions and all that
But I WILL say that it wasn't even remotely a GOAL for me before I got to MFP already a good 40+ lbs down from max
And that I was quite surprised a year or two later how much loss of weight and moderate activity (walking, admittedly often on hills and non paved surfaces) had improved my cardiovascular abilities.
Even without breaking *much of* a sweat.
My knees didn't stop complaining till I was at normal weight. In fact even though all pants and belts still fit (albeit tightly) at bmi just shy of 25 the first knee complaints are there... so it is less than a 10lb line for me between no knee vs knee issues... and even at a no knee problems weight we may recall that I managed to become unexpectedly gimpy a few months (isn't it almost a year?) ago!

Yesterday I did 2 rounds of stretching (before my workout and then before bed) along with a 20 minute cardio. Man, did that 20 minutes wear me out! I am SO out of shape. But I did all 20 minutes!

Today so far I have done one round of stretching before work. I hope to do something on my lunch break (even if it is a 7 minute lazy girl workout lol) and then stretch again before bed tonight.

Yesterday I did a warm up, a 25 minute walk and strength workout, and then did a 5 minute before bed stretch.

Been doing at least a couple rounds of stretching every day and it has really helped. Did not do any this morning (took a lazy start to my day lol), but I am planning on doing a 10 minute at desk stretch here soon along with something at lunch and my normal bed time stretch. Just could not get up this morning!

Does two hours of scrubbing woodwork and baseboards count as exercise?

Can’t get out of the house due to the ice storm. Car/truck accidents all over the slick roads. Tomorrow looks worse than today. I don’t think we’ll get to the gym before Friday or Saturday.

I’m lining up chores for the next two days. There’s floor washing, dusting, cleaning the larger mirrors and ceiling fans. Hubby is ready to escape to the nearest grocery store. I just heard on the news that the major stores are shutting down as of 6 pm today. So he’s trapped inside with me and the cleaning bucket.

When this is over I’ll have a spotless house - woohoo!!!

100%! I swear cleaning can be a better workout then some of the "workout" videos I do.

I took yesterday off except for stretching in the morning and evening.

Today so far I have done a 15 minute yoga session. At lunch I will do a 20 minute indoor walking video. Then my normal stretching before bed. Really liking this routine so far. My aim is to do this 3 of the 5 weekdays. Then Saturday is open. I have my normal walk to the store (which I do count). When the weather is nicer I often will walk to other stores as well. I also usually clean on Saturdays so that ups my movement. Sunday I do stretching and a longer video in the mornings (nicer weather that will become stretching and a longer walk).

Nothing special planned other than girl. Sort of between rain and snow here. Hovering around the freezing point of water!

Cleaning can certainly work up a sweat!
My knee is still really unhappy. Osteopath/kinesiologist did some "adjustments" yesterday and it feels like a tight balloon of hot paste today. Which is good in a way because it was -14 on our short walk.
Maybe I'll try a few minutes of rowing? Just a little? See if it loosens the paste?

5 minutes of rowing last night. Didnt seem to bother the knee at all - maybe even loosened up things a bit? I stopped there before I felt anything problematic. Just in case.

    Today 6 minutes! :)

Baby steps! Especially good when you are coming back from injury. Better to do less then you could, then do too much.

Yesterday I only did my pre bed stretch.

Today I have done a 15 minute yoga session so far. Leaving work at 2:30 so will do a 15 minute indoor walk video then instead of during lunch. I will get it done though!

Today was the final day of my house cleaning marathon! Scrubbed all the floors. It’s mostly tile floors in a four bedroom/three bath house. I’ve been deep cleaning since Monday when the ice storm hit. Tomorrow will be near 70 degrees and I may finally escape the house for some shopping therapy.
The gym will look mighty good next week!

Late summer cleaning! Love it. Love your annual clean - and your (I'm guessing) motivation!

My place is kind of okay. Not exactly sparkly, but not "I haven't vacuumed/scrubbed floors in 6 weeks" bad (though it might look that way to some).

Well I wasn’t planning on doing sparkly house. Had a long list of fun activities but then the ice storm ❄️ hit. And I had nothing to do, no where to go and best of all a captive helper available. πŸ€”So why not?
Besides it burned some calories! πŸ₯³

Found some wonderful 5 minute workouts on YouTube from the same channel I get my indoor walks from. So I did a HIIT, an upper body, and a lower body workout this morning! Then at lunch I am going to do the 15 minute walk. Love that I found these, because even 5 minutes of movement can be helpful!
