I’m adding my heartfelt condolences for your loss @SavageMrsMoose! I must have been posting my weigh-in at the same time you uploaded your beautiful pictures of Buddy but I just saw the news. It’s a comfort knowing your son and daughter had a chance to see him 🌈😢. You took the best care of him and I’m sure the feeling was mutual— lucky dog, fortunate family.
It’s such a difficult loss — thinking of you all!2 -
Good morning!
Update: I passed my audition and am now a certified Jazzercise instructor!!!
Congratulations @nancyinmo!
I’m so glad to hear your hard work paid off after setting this goal. What an exciting time as you make your move and embark on a new phase of life! 🎉🎉🎉
Nice work @Zaxa2021 — impressive miles! It must feel so satisfying to make such great strides to achieve your ‘reach’ goal. Keep up the good work!

Do you have to take any classes over the summer or do you have an extended holiday?
Enjoy!
Thank you very much!
Fortunately I don’t have to take classes over summer, as I return to uni in October, so I can relax and have some “me time”.
My son (4) starts school in August so I’ll be a bit busy preparing for that. He is very excited to start school, but I’m a nervous wreck
@SavageMrsMoose I am so sorry to hear about your boy Buddy. I hope your heart can heal with some time. Pets bring us so much happiness and it’s devastating when we lose them.

I bought a new scale this week, and it consistently weighs me at one pound heavier than my old scale, so that wiped out my loss this week on paper. I'm sticking with the new scale weight, and hopefully next week will show a good loss. ⚖️6 -
Ugh! 😩 I just typed a message and the app blipped so I lost it!
The river water was finally flat today so I enjoyed a nice morning of sculling. I row with a group of three other people and a coach for a total of five rowers. The other single scullers (one person, two oars) are much more experienced than I am. They’ve rowed longer and competed in high school or college, so it’s a bit intimidating, especially since I’m the oldest and just learned to scull during the pandemic. I appreciate that they are very patient and encouraging!
Today, I was able to keep up with them sometimes and sometimes they were far ahead. I don’t mind rowing my own race and I don’t feel competition with them, but I hate slowing down the group. So, I’m using a tip from the Atomic Habits book we’ve talked about here in the Shape Shifters chat group, by focusing on closing the distance by improving one percent each time we row together.
Of course, they might be improving, too, so I have to spend a little extra time working on my technique and increasing my fitness level by at least one percent. I spend a little more time on the erg machine to improve my form and stamina, and lift weights with the coach to build my strength. Two of the other rowers skip the morning workouts most days when the water is rough. I’ll just keep showing up and see where it takes me.8 -

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. They are much appreciated. Buddy had a vet appointment yesterday and I thought they were going to tell me it was time.... I'm relieved I didn't have to make that call. Yesterday also happens to have been June 15, the date my daughter is getting married in 2024. I'm glad they didn't share the date, although we will definitely be thinking of him at this time next year.
@nancyinmo Congratulations on your certification! Way to go!
@PatriceFitnessPal I'm so impressed with your rowing. My daughter rowed for a year in college and it was intense. But what a nice way to start the day.
I have a tough workout scheduled for today. A warm-up followed by 1/2 mile intervals, each progressively faster. The last one is for a 7:30-8:15 minute mile. I can't run that fast but I'm going to get as close as I can. It is good to have a challenge.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.5 -

This is the lowest I’ve weighed since my son was in first grade. He just turned 30! I’m hoping to continue making progress now that I’m more mobile.
I just had bloodwork done this week and my A1c has improved over my last one so that was a relief. There’s a little issue with my kidney numbers so I’m hoping that’s just related to my surgery; I’ll find out more next week.7 -

@SavageMrsMoose I'm so very sorry to hear about Buddy's passing. He sounded like an amazing companion. I love the most recent story that you shared about him perking up when your kids came to see him, sounds like he loved you all very much too.3

@PatriceFitnessPal I love your determination to improve and the way you are approaching it! Rowing on rough water can be super frustrating and feel unproductive, but if you can stay relaxed and with light hands through the wind/waves, you'll continue to make improvements and the flat water rowing should also feel much easier. Plus you're getting an advantage up on the others by going out while they stay on land. It's not easy rowing a single scull, so bravo!!
Apologies if the advice is unsolicited. I used to row competitively but I haven't been on the water in over 13 years and absolutely love hearing all about your rowing!4
