Hi, folks! Hope you're doing well. Having some water weight flux right now, so I have a feeling next week is not going to look as impressive as this week My naughty cat Ernie says "hi". Other cat is bird watching. Got to get back to work, but wanted to check in and say hello. *waves from Holly Springs*4 -

Hello Shape Shifters! Welcome to all the new members! Seasoned members and newcomers all seem to be doing well, learning, and making positive adjustments.
I’m sore today after rowing two races at the Occoquan River in northern Virginia: https://www.novaparks.com/parks/sandy-run-regional-park. We won first place in our age group so that was a nice surprise!
Our team is more of a social group that rows so we only enter one or two races per year as a culmination to our season. This race venue is only a 30-minute drive from my house so it’s convenient and fun. Nine of us carpooled there! I also filled in with another group that included two people rowing for the first time, and our “Masters” (old people) mixed boat of men and women placed 8 out of 17 boats — respectable. I volunteered between races, helping the other crews launch from the dock without getting in each other’s way.
Later in the evening, I had a soccer game. Many of our team members were traveling this weekend and couldn’t play so we only had 10 people playing the whole 90 minutes while the other team had 11 players and a few subs. I was so tired but we won the close match 1-0.
This was an unusually active weekend, with a personal trainer session on Saturday, in addition to rowing and soccer. I hope I’ve worked off my Halloween candy 😅 and can finally see a loss this week, after many weeks of incremental gains.
Best wishes, everyone!5 -

I've not been as motivated to work out on my own lately, other than walking, but got on the rowing machine today for 30mins and felt so much better after. This weekend I coached hockey for an hour and then had my own game. My legs are sore today!
@jlswensen and @lianatherunner Hope you enjoyed your running races!
@cyncia85 way to go jogging for 20mins!
@izzyred9400 5 weeks in the green is fantastic and very motivating to hear about!
@PatriceFitnessPal Congratulations on winning your regatta! It looks like a nice course. I used to love racing in the fall head races.

I ordered a wheat mill and a bag of local un-milled wheat (boweavil may or may not be included...) I'm going to experiment with baking bread from scratch. Should be really interesting. I love to bake in the winter
@PatriceFitnessPal - Woot! Good job on the rowing. That sounds like a lot of fun.4 -

That should be interesting with the mill. I make bread every week for my family. Generally just a simple no kneed farmers bread.4 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday was nice and active. First I went to stock up on some protein yoghurt from the store. I saw they also had a bunch of panorama Disney puzzles. There was one I really liked so I bought it. They were only half the price I would normally expect to pay for a 1000 piece which was nice. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. Then I went to the garden/pet store for new lead ropes for the cat jackets and two bags of wood pallets for the litterbox. They just about fit in the bags on my bike, though I do have to ride a bit careful because they weigh 12,5 kg / 27 pounds each. It was super windy, but I made it home safe. Cleaned the litterbox, the water fountain and did the dishes. I got a red lead rope for the royal tartan jacket and Tinus looks fabulous. He is giving me Christmas vibes! I was really bored in the evening, so I went to bed early. Happy Tuesday everyone

I've got a busy week as it's my eldest son's 30th birthday party this weekend.I'm doing all the catering myself so will be busy shopping & cooking. At times like this I miss having a car but I hope friends & family will help to take stuff to the party venue.

Good morning all!
I feel you @Pupowl and @nancyinmo about needing good sleep. It’s essential. I woke up about midnight and didn’t get back to sleep for hours. I’m stressing about my daughters wedding, but I’ve also been trying to run much harder so it might be overtraining. Also, it might be menopause. Ughh. I hope I don’t have to go on medication. I really don’t want too, but the hot flashes are so annoying.
Since my daughter got engaged, I had planned on wearing a dress belonging to my late mother in law. I’d thought of wearing one dress I’d saved, but it was too big 35 pounds ago, so it’s probably too much to alter. So I’d decided to wear this cranberry colored ball gown that she wore to the opening of the San Francisco opera 20 years ago. I took it to the tailor yesterday to have it taken in and have it shortened, and he didn’t want to touch it because of its age. He said he was going to have to press it and he thought the iron would damage the fabric because it was old. It’s fading unevenly in a couple places. He told me to take it to the good cleaners in town first. Unfortunately, this cleaners is VERY expensive- I expect they would charge close to 1000 dollars to clean it. Unfortunately- I’m not exaggerating. My husband never wanted me to wear the dress- he thinks it looks like a costume. It is VERY heavy and won’t truly be practical for an outdoor wedding.
So apparently I need a mother of the bride dress and instead of feeling excited, I’m stressed. What if I gain back the weight I’ve lost? The expense. I want something nice and this wedding is getting crazy expensive. Also, I was trying to bring my mother in law in a sense. It seems ridiculous as I type this out, but I’m stressed about buying a dress.6 -
@SavageMrsMoose - We’ll definitely need to see a picture of your dress-costume!
You may just need time to grieve the loss of your original idea, which was full of family history and personal meaning to you. The dress represents more than fancy fabric so it will take a little time to adjust your expectations, if needed. Of course, it’s worth asking advice from the skilled cleaner. They might have some good advice or options for you to consider, even if you decide not to wear the family heirloom. Maybe you can take a casual ‘no pressure’ practice run pricing some dresses you like. That way, you’ll have a better idea of the cost of a new dress compared to an investment in restoring your mother-in-laws dress.
This is another big milestone for your daughter and I’m sure the wedding will be a fabulous celebration of family and friends — congratulations! It’s so nice that you are looking for a way to honor and include your mother-in-law as you plan. Maybe your husband and children can help you find a way to incorporate her memory. I’m confident you’ll find a solution but it’s hard when a plan falls through. I’m sending a hug as you work through the loss and strength to face the fear of regaining weight after buying a dress. I doubt that will happen but I understand the feeling. I’m sure it will be beautiful and memorable— Hang in there!3 -
