@murdog3t - Nice working tracking your goals and staying in the ‘green’ in each day!

@Pupowl - That’s phenomenal progress in 90 days! Congratulations and keep up the good work! You shared that your day didn’t start out well, but you really seemed to turn it around and make the best of it. That’s great 😃

@frankwbrown - Your step count is always so impressive. In fact, this page is full of amazing Shape Shifters steppers — @izzyred9400, @LaurieWrobo, @Armygirlarmyof1, @pupowl, @jessicakrall8, and @murdog3t. One of these days I hope to join this impressive group!

I’ve been spending more time on downsizing the number of items in my house now that our children are adults. Today, I’m dedicating two hours to organizing and decluttering the keepsakes from my sons’ childhood, along with photos from family vacations, and other memorabilia.

The difficulty is that when I give attention to other parts of my life, my health habits seem to suffer. I’m trying to find balance so I don’t have to think too much about eating and exercise in order to maintain my weight loss. I hope to incorporate better habits so it doesn’t require as much effort and thought. Any ideas?

@PatriceFitnessPal Thank you! It did get better throughout the day thankfully.
Weight loss/maintaining is really tough. I think for most people it will always be something they need to keep putting energy towards to avoid falling back into bad habits, or even just losing the good ones. I think a good starting point would be trying to figure out how much time/effort you need for your healthy habits first. Try to sort out your baseline or minimum habits in order to keep maintaining/losing, like 12.000 steps is one for me. Balance is good, but that doesn't mean everything needs to be 50/50. For me my health is the most important thing, so that gets the most attention. Maybe you simply need to adjust the amount you spent on other things. Decluttering for 2 hours is a lot of time! If you can only do that once a week, you might be better off doing 30 minutes at a time 4 times a week.
Of course there is the usual thing of meal prepping and planning your days ahead of time, but even then I think it is never something you won't have to think about. I don't cook, so my food is all really easy. Prepackaged salads, protein deserts (single servings), protein bars, healthy crackers/bread with cheese. I always fill in my food journal the day before. It helps that I eat a lot of the same stuff, so I know the calories and I can easily figure out if what I want to eat will fit into my day. It is easier to plan ahead of time instead of on the day when you are hungry; you are much more likely to make bad choices that way, or eat too much which makes the rest of the day a lot less fun. Something else you could try is a smaller eating window. For me that has made a big difference, because it cuts out a lot of time thinking about food. I know I don't eat before 10 in the morning, and stop eating at 4 which creates some peace in a way.
Also a lot of people have this idea of what their perfect day looks like, but we don't often have perfect days and most of the time being perfect isn't even needed to make progress. I feel like I am rambling now, so I am sorry if none of this is useful, lol
I like this video which touches on being perfect: https://youtu.be/VVyEjBHiZOo?si=E54OxsrY67HRYUjF

Great video @Pupowl -- and it's obvious to me that this young fellow has an appreciation for 'One Punch Man' :D

When I go out to exercise I'm usually avoiding real work I don't want to do. Hike / run long distances - well, guess those dishes and dusting can wait (I hate housework - sorry Mom and ancestors...) Yup, would love to hand scrub the kitchen floor but I need to get into shape... ;-P It's ridiculous, it really is.

Thank you for the excellent suggestions, @pupowl. I also enjoyed the video and will checkout the website. I agree that chunking big projects into manageable amounts is better, and also following an intermittent fasting routine.

@itadakimasu7 - I sometimes tell myself that scrubbing the floor and other household tasks can be my exercise, but it’s more fun to meet my friends and teammates for a row or soccer. I love the photos you send of your outdoor adventures and look forward to weekend bike rides and hikes once my downsizing project is complete.

We improved again in the last game of the tournament. Just one more to go!

    @murdog3t -- what is cohort? A study? I'm curious! :-D

I downloaded a walk app and a core fitness app, I'm going to give that a go, but I'm going to be kinda busy this week. I had planned a small vegetarian meal for Thanksgiving (home made classic cheese pizza) but my kids (age 26 and 23) might be bringing in a 15lb turkey (I'm wondering if they know they have to a. purchase it ahead and b. DEFROST it) -- I'm guessing they have no clue, haha, so I'm looking forwards to seeing how this shakes out. :) They've been tight lipped about their plan maybe because there is no plan...we'll roll with it. I love my kids, they're just the best.

I have my mill in the mail off eBay, it's a classic heavy iron hand crank grain mill. I'm going to clean and setup for bread making. I've invited over my daughter (26) to make artisan bread(s) today. I'll try to post some photos. I haven't done this before so not sure how it will turn out. It is 4x more expensive to mill ones own grain then to buy premium store flour I found out, sure I can improve that in the future. Ouch. Okay - signing off and getting busy! Woot!

I didn't have a good day for eating today.I went into town today as I had booked a tour around a theatre I go to regularly.I treated myself to a theatre card membership where you pay an annual fee but then get discounts & pay no card fees etc.I love musical theatre so I wanted to make the most of my membership & see lots of shows. The tour was really interesting & took you back stage & a chat with some of the stage set staff.Tomorrow I'm going to see Hamilton.Im super excited,I'm going on my own as there weren't many seats left. Will see if it lives up to the hype.
I ate out for lunch & dinner not yet worked out my calories.Did a Dance class tonight but went out to eat with some friends from the class & a couple of drinks so fingers crossed I've walked off some of the calories.
Glad you enjoyed Mexico @JenHul yes I'm with @Itadakimasu7 tell us more 😀
Good luck with your flour mill @Itadakimasu7 hope your kids figure out the turkey

    Hey y'all:

Lots of errand running and appointments today...my pest control service came and sprayed the house...then I took Lil Miss Betty to her very first/annual vet appointment. She weighs a whopping 8.6 pounds and is completely healthy. She got two vaccines and didn't even flinch...got her nails trimmed...she was a very good girl today! She came home and ate, had a few "good girl" treats and then laid down to take a nap. I love my girl...

After three days in a row of 20k+ steps, I'm only planning 10k today. I'm tired. I am currently in 2nd place in the competition at work, but I can't compete with someone who's doing 36k daily...just can't...so I'll keep doing what I can and accept 2nd place as best I can do. We shall see! Contest runs until Dec. 10th.

Ate my first meal at home today, then ate out for dinner...likely a little over in calories...

    Enjoy your week everyone!
    Jessica
