@ashleycarole86 if you heard something akin to a hyena on an oxygen tank, yes - that was me CACKLING at the Cowboys. GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!!!
obviously having a good day here but yoga was surprisingly frustrating today. It was another core-heavy video and I was just not having it. Something to examine later. I did get through it, at least.
Planning to make a cheesy jalapeno chicken recipe that I used to LOVE and haven't made in quite a while for my dinner this week, with crispy roasted broccoli and white rice on the side. if it sounds appetizing to anyone, here's the recipe: https://www.thechunkychef.com/one-pan-cheesy-jalapeno-chicken/#wprm-recipe-container-10122
I have tomorrow off from work for the MLK holiday in the US so I am very excited to sleep in. no alarms!4 -
Ready for Monday? Here you go!

Too cold to do much here. Cleaning house does not earn many steps. Only a clean home. FitOn is really helping me get my workouts done.
Also deep cleaning on my
aquariums. Glad that is done.
Hope you all have Monday off. I will be working out first thing. Then going to a movie6 -
Morning! I've had a lovely long weekend by myself at the beach. I've taken long walks, read a novel, did some personal planning (I'm a huge fan of Best Year Yet), and made healthy food. I also watched a good bit of football. I got up early to watch the sun come up over the ocean which was stunning this morning.
@jugar - no scale here (there used to be!) So I will weigh in tomorrow. I was up midweek so I'm not sure what to expect. 9 weeks until my trip!
A shower, walk on the beach, protein shake then a 5.5 hr drive home.6 -

Happy Monday all! With the holiday today, I will be going over to a friend’s house to lead our next session of Dungeons & Dragons. I spent about 3-ish hours reviewing materials and the storyline I crafted yesterday for them to play through, but knowing my friends, it’ll be pure chaos and a lot of improvisation today. 😂😂
I’ve signed up for a spin class after work on Thursday, another for Saturday, and a friend of mine wants to join me for yoga this upcoming Sunday. I’m going to sign up for my strength class for Wednesday, which will leave today and Friday as rest days/cleaning days/other activity days.
My husband has been working in the living room, stripping and sanding paint and varnish off of the trim because the previous owners just painted over the varnish without priming it, and it was chipping away quite easily. I’m on the hunt for a new rug for the space, and I have my eye on a new couch (leather) that I think will go really well with the wall colors. I’m starting to feel okay living in the chaos of my house, but I can’t wait for at least one of the rooms to be completely done.5 -
So overnight we had adverse weather, we got iced, and it was very slippery this morning... My commute is 4 miles... It took me 1 hour to get to work... There were so many cars that were stuck, scared, or slip sliding away, I got stuck in a very large incident that had several cars stuck in the middle of the road, and there was no way to get around them, finally got turned around, and took a different route. I admit I absolutely hate driving in bad conditions, and I consider night time a bad condition, sooo.... But I CAN DO IT, if necessary and I have the proper car (subby outback) and good tires , these people were just giving me so much stress. Anyway, my fitbit recorded 46 min of intense activity... Told hubby he would be driving me to work tomorrow, I am so thankful, I have a husband who has the flexibility to cater to his anxiety-ridden wife... LOL
Have a fabulous day !

@ashleycarole86 - Friday, January 12th - 9,740 steps, 1 hour of spin, 1 hour of CrossFit
Saturday, January 13th - 3,798 steps - 45 minutes of CrossFit (I did 100 jump ropes in a row without tripping up... twice!)
Sunday, January 14th - 4,128 steps, bowling league make-up games, 3 games of bowling, ~1.5 hours
Well... I did not do well on my diet this weekend. We put on offer on a house and my husband and I thought that would be a good reason to celebrate. So, we opened a bottle of bubbly wine. I drank too much wine, agreed to have pizza for dinner, ate an entire gluten free pizza, and today am shaking my head at my terrible decisions. I've had near perfect days (minus step counts) almost every other day this month and am trying to focus on that rather than the one bad day. I just hope it doesn't impact weigh-in day too much.
@lindamartin27 - I am so sorry to hear about your chicken! Grateful though that the rest of them are okay.
@jugar - Keep the Jasper stories coming. That is some intense wind if it can flip a plane!
@Kali225 - LET'S GO PACKERS! The Cowboys have always been one of my least favorite teams. I'm glad to see them taken out by my favorite team. And great job on the snowboarding adventure! If we lived closer I would ask if you'd be willing to give me lessons. I learned how to snowboard in college, but just as I was building up my confidence in it, I ended up flipping my board on ice. I landed head first on the ice (of course I was not smart enough to wear a helmet), and long story short ended up with a grade 3 concussion. Anyways, I have tried snowboarding a few times since then (always with a helmet!), but am a bit nervous. I end up spending more time sitting on my butt in the snow than actually going down the slopes.
@strong_fit_ells - to reiterate a lot of what @jugar said, a couple of drinking days and a new scale could be exactly what caused your weight gain. If it is, it will come off fast. Don't get discouraged. I had a couple bottles of sweet wine and ate an entire pizza on Saturday. I know my weigh-in will probably not be great because of this. But, I can't change anything about that now because it's in the past. So, my suggestion is to accept it for what it is and move forward. Find the best way to not go back there and everyday try to be a little bit better. And, keep talking with us. We're here to support and help you.6 -
@wishfuljune - wow 11 hr work days. Hope that slows down for you.
@ashleycarole86 - more days staying away from drinking is progress. Nice job.
@strong_fit_ells - please be kind to yourself. We don't feel like you are letting the team down. the scale is only one measurement of yourself and in the scheme of life is small. This is something I remind myself often because it's easy to go down the rabbit hole of berating yourself just on one thing.
@Kali225 Chicken combined with jalapenos and cheese sounds heavenly - I will keep this one tucked away and try it later on.
@Gidgitgoescrzy I'm not a winter driver either - any bit of ice and cold and I'm super slow and stressed when it comes to driving
@MaddawgMadsen wow some big changes coming your way with a new move. Hope everything goes smoothly with the purchase.3 -

I know my weight is all over the map but overall, I feel so much stronger and leaner and a downward trend. That said I'm off to Mexico in 2 weeks and it can't come soon enough. This cold snap we've had over here had me going crazy with cabin fever. I know I go a little wacky if I don't get some outdoor time with the dog every day and the last 5 days have been brutally cold. On the flip side I enjoyed some time by the fire reading my book this weekend.4 -
Thank you, yet again, everyone for your kind words 😊 I think I will just bite the bullet and log this weight for today hoping for a biiiiiiig wooosh next Monday 🫣 my other scale packed up completely so I'm not sure what the difference would be 😕
On the positive note my new scale is body composition one. I connected an app and shows me all the fancy readings. It will be really motivating in a long run when the number of lbs is not what I want to see.
Thank you so much again.

Woo hoo! Into a new decade4 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy So glad you got out of your terrible traffic situation this morning! And go Subaru! I have a Crosstrek with studded tires. Much of my driving is on gravel roads, so it sure helps to have the killer traction when the weather gets stupid and turns the packed snow surface to a skating rink. At least I don't have traffic to worry about! I don't know how you do it. Glad your unflappable hubs will give you a lift tomorrow!
@strong_fit_ells I'm so glad you're not letting the bump in the road throw you! The new scale sounds great - I have never used one of those body composition scales, so I want to hear all about how it goes for you. It would be good to be able to see the body composition change in numbers. Cool!
@MaddawgMadsen I'm not worried about your one day with no green check for no alcohol - you'll get right back at it I'm sure! Glad you put an offer on a house - that 's fantastic! I hope it goes through.
I have been enjoying seeing everyone's green checks on the habit tracker - keep that going if you're using it! Even if there are some unchecked boxes, it is solid information to see which habits are going well, which ones need some more work or need to be changed out for something else.
Only one Tuesday weigh-in! And one catch-up:
@adrimango
@lauren_989
Thanks!2 -
@MaddawgMadsen eeeek no helmet for a hit like that, OUCH! Glad you have gotten back out there a bit after the incident - snowboarding is tough to learn but once you get you, you got it. My first day snowboarding when I was 9, I fell off the tow rope on the bunny hill and the next (empty) tow caught the hood of my snow jacket and then I was being tugged uphill via my neck. Someone had to hit the emergency break on the tow. So that was fun! [I was totally okay but also immediately ready to go back to skiing - and I'm glad I didn't actually do that!]
@ashleycarole86 and your Bills are onto the next! I certainly hope they finally beat the Chiefs.
dinner was delicious but late, and followed by a late yoga session. 3 of us did dance cardio today and it was a really fun session. Might put it back on tomorrow after work.2 -
@wishfuljune my daughter hosts our DND game. Just started playing with her and her friends. You will love your living room when it is complete.
@jugar thanks. Not really watching my food enough. Working on consistently working out now.
Got in a Zumba workout and upper body on the FitOn app.

@zumbaforever What movie did you see?
@Gidgitgoescrzy Eek - yes I hate commuting days like that. I get car anxiety myself so I can totally relate. We are supposed to get snow today so I am crossing my fingers my commute home isn't too bad. It's normally 45-50 minutes home on a good day.
@MaddawgMadsen Congrats on the offer on the house - how did it go? Your pizza and wine night sounds like and Brad - life feels worthy of celebration, a bottle of wine is opened, and suddenly I'm eating all the food. I can relate to that story for sure!
@strong_fit_ells Glad you weighed in with us. I have a body that can retain a ton of water weight after a big holiday and I have posted many a huge gain - this team is here for support and we are better to have you with us. No one should ever feel BAD about a gain from the team perspective, you're here, acknowledging where you're at.. and we will rally behind you!
@Kali225 @MaddawgMadsen I live an hour from the Rocky Mountains and just the most amazing ski hills and I cannot ski or snowboard. It's a shame. All the talk of snowboarding and I look out my window and see the mountains and all I can do is hike them. HA! I did grow up in Manitoba where it was a hill and not a mountain so I wasn't primed for it When I moved to Alberta I tried skiing once or twice but a friend got a serious injury one of my first times out and I think that freaked me out. Then in my 20s I tried snowboarding without lessons (just an ex that thought he could teach me) and it was really hard and I haven't tried since. So much respect for those that can though - what a fun winter activity.
And yes @Kali225 GO BILLS! What a fun wild card weekend. Time to go destroy our next opponents
I've been up since 2 AM - on occasion our dog asks out in the middle of the night and it's no big deal because I can usually fall asleep right away when it's my turn to take her out. This morning though for whatever reason I just tossed and turned for 1.5 hours.... eventually I was driving myself mad so I decided to come downstairs and get caught up on here. Not sure if that's the best idea but I didn't figure driving myself crazy in bed was a good idea either. It will be an early night to bed tonight! Work is crazy hectic due to lots of meetings and the effects of the extreme cold on our operations so that's probably part of it...4 -

Morning. This group has a lot going on - football teams making the playoffs, home renovations, commutes in icy weather, trips to Mexico very soon - love seeing all of your happenings.
I am back from a long weekend by myself at the beach. It rained the whole 5 hour drive down and was windy the first day but the quiet, sun, and sound of the waves did so much for me. Now I'm back home to gray and cold, but energized. I took walks on the beach and did an exercise video while there. I cooked healthy meals and overall took excellent care of myself. Work demands are not as intense this week as they have been. I think I can actually get caught up! Stopped at the grocery store on my way home so I'm stocked up to eat well.
Hope everyone stays safe and warm!5 -

Hate posting a gain for the team but not really concerned about the number. Last week was crazy - onsite with clients 3 days then had to work evenings as well, no exercise and no logging. But I'm back from my beach reset and set up for success this week. 9 weeks until my conference.2 -
Yesterday was good, they let us leave 2 hours early , and we got more snow last night. Hubby drove me to work today though so no anxiety at all, and the roads were in better shape. Yesterday was a complete surprise, they did not know that was going to happen. Anyway, since I got to leave early, I was able to get all of my exercise in before the football games. I am glad the Steelers lost, I just wish the Bills could have lost too. LOL, but it worked in my favor because now we play the early game, so I can go to bed on time.
Okay have a great day !

@ashleycarole86 - Monday, January 15th - 6,025 steps, 1 hour of league bowling - three games. No opponents and my teammate was sick, so I was able to bust out the games quickly.
The offer we put on the house was $15k under asking. They countered at $5k under asking. We countered back at $10k under and they accepted! So, we are under contract. If everything goes well, we will move in to the new house at the beginning of March. We don't need to be out of the house we are currently in until April, so assuming everything is smooth, we should ample time to move.
@jugar - I am back to no drinking and no processed carbs. It was a one day thing. However, weighing myself the last few days I am up a pound or two, averaging 173.4. Maybe some of it is muscle since I did a lot of workouts at the end of last week and all my clothes are getting looser. I guess we will see what tomorrow's weigh-in has in store.
@zumbaforever - great work on the new decade!! Way to go!
@Gidgitgoescrzy - I am the same way with the snow, especially after a minor accident I had last year. You are very lucky to have a husband who can drive you into work. I'm glad you were able to make it in anxiety free!
@cleaneater80 - Two weeks will pass in a blink of an eye. Mexico will be so nice!
@strong_fit_ells - I have been very tempted to buy a composition scale. Please keep us updated on your thoughts about it. If you really like it, I might just have to get one.
@Kali225 - That is super scary about the lift! The great part about being a kid, is often we don't understand the danger we are in. I'm glad you were able to keep with it and make it a lifelong hobby. I've been partially tempted to sign up for lessons at a local resort. I respect I will probably be the oldest one at the lessons, but I think it would still be fun.5 -

Eek! Not the best weigh in. I was hoping for a green January. I have kinda lost some of my motivation and my parents ended up staying an extra day because their check engine light came on and it wasn't safe to drive to FL. They were able to get the part fixed yesterday and on the road today. I need to get my mind back in the game here.5 -

A very quiet day it was today - maybe I'm balancing out those of you with crazy wild schedules!
@MaddawgMadsen That is fantastic news about your house! You must be thrilled. And it is also thrilling that you are back on the AF and no processed carbs - I'm feeling great really sticking to those too. Of course, we want photos of the house!
Tomorrow afternoon I'm heading for Montreal for a couple of days - actually working! It will be intense, but at least I'll get in a ton of steps. I always do in the city, and it's supposed to be clear and cold. Perfect. I hope to have time to see a couple of my old pals who live there!5 -
Safe travels @jugar - have fun in the big city
I'm exhausted.. that 2 a.m. wake up call is taking its toll. I am just taking it easy for the night.
Soccer restarts on Thursday! Yay. I love sports as a form of exercise - just feels like pure joy.7 -
Happy Tuesday!
We had a bunch of snow and we’re enjoying the end of the evening post supper when the landlady texted that they’d be here in 15-minutes to plow(at 8:50 p.m.). We put on snow pants, etc., and brushed off the cars and moved them just as they pulled up. I was going to take a shower right about then. I had a good exercise class and enjoyed the feeling of warm, tired glutes, hams, and biceps. I’ll still get a shower in, just a bit later than I thought.
More soon. It’s great catching up with all the posts.5 -
@adrimango your beachy getaway sounds so lovely! I am not a big beach person in the summer but there is something about the ocean in the off season that is absolutely captivating.
@ashleycarole86 I see that new pro pic!! so cute
Got snow here, too. It was actually so lovely to see it in the morning, but by early afternoon it turned to sleeting rain, and by the time I left the office, all the sidewalks were dangerously icy. Hope things have been salted or melted by tomorrow morning!
I am halfway through the 30 day yoga journey w/Adriene on youtube, and loving it. Had to stay a bit late at work and I am quite tired now. going to try harder to get to sleep at a reasonable hour this week.4
