@trooworld i think tracking is a good goal. I’m with ya. I need to get back into tracking everything every day.
The Day Before Thursday Ice Breaker Question
What is your dream job?
A professor at an university and conducting research2 -
@reshii_devi I’m fascinated to hear examples of what you’ve bene trying? Do you mean like you’ll do keto or vegetarian for a month? Welcome I’m glad you’re here!
Hi @Katmary71 👋🏾 thanks for the warm welcome!
Started the year feeling flabby and weak so getting leaner and stronger continues to be my primary goal. Began with a basic 4 week strength program in January, progressed to a LiveStrong 4 week weight and resistance band challenge in February and then joined a gym with a pool in March. Still not doing as much weight and resistance training as I'd like, but getting better every week! Swimming regularly now and slowly incorporating more HIIT, kettle bells, battle and jump ropes this month for variety.
Was actually starting to feel a little stuck when I kept regaining and losing the same 3-5lbs last month, but when measured, had lost more than 10 inches, an additional 1.5% body fat and increased my muscle mass by 1.5% !!! No longer as concerned with weight, the measuring tape has become my new bestie, lol
Finally, to continue mixing things up, I'm starting Mediterranean Keto on Monday. The carbs aren't quite as low, but metabolic benefits appear to be the same. Will also fast 24+ hrs this weekend while prepping and preparing for it. Hoping the dietary changes will be an added boost to the increased exercise.

@Cornanda Woohoo!
@askewcr Oh no hope you get in and out fast and the sinuses are better soon!
@trooworld You’re the best catching all the celebrations, I love that! Congratulations
@vegan4lyfe2012 woohoo! @19shmoo69 Wow 50lbs down is amazing@ @Veta2018
Congratulations on losing a canoe, lol! Love seeing all these amazing achievements, you all rock!
@trooworld Thanks! The set my nephew loaned me has 5, I was putting in different books in between each one so I wouldn’t get tired of the series. Weirdly the 4th and 5th have been the best. Percy Jackson and the Olympians was just made into a Disney channel show so I know he watched it, he read these a few years ago but with the show may remember it enough to talk about them. I’m not sure if there’s more than 5. Hugs Chris, what I see is a strong woman who doesn’t give up even when things aren’t going well or life is hard who is a great leader and friend to all of us. I sometimes feel that way too if I’m being honest, I haven’t gotten my weight down at all since surgery. You have the best time ever tonight celebrating your art opening!
Hi friends! Worked out and got some charity stuff done. I went by the holistic clinic to return a unit and the woman I’m working with asked me if I’d be willing to talk to a client who was in with her who has MS and CRPS. I ended up hanging out with her for 2 hours and she’s going to go to the support group meeting Sunday which should be fun. Yvonne wanted her to see someone who’s seeing a difference with the same condition hoping it would inspire her more. Interestingly we’re having similar results so far with responses. It felt good to get some of the latest stuff off my chest too. I’m headed next door for dinner, she’s making chicken pot pie and I’m taking wine so my diary will probably be over tonight. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Ice Breaker Question
What is your dream job?
I always loved singing and painting as a kid. Through my childhood and teens I always did visual art and singing as a hobby but never got to pursue art or singing professionally. I am currently working towards these goals.3 -
Thursday Ice Breaker Question: What is your dream job? My dream job was to be a teacher. I went to college for it but didn't finish.
@littlebabekitty - Hugs and prayers.
@Cornanda - Congrats on this weeks loss.
@askewcr - I hope you're ok and feeling better soon.
@vegan4lyfe2012 - Congratulations! Welcome to Onderland!
@19shmoo69 - Congratulations!
@trooworld - Your awesome, don't doubt yourself. We all have are ups and downs. Stay calm and take one day at a time. We've got this!
@reshii_devi - You have a great plan. My weight fluctuated like that too. It's those NSV that keep me going too.
@Katmary71 - Thank you. Enjoy your night out.

@Katmary71 I'm sorry about your Thursday morning and afternoon. What instrument does your nephew play? Funny you should mention Percy Jackson, my son just started reading The Lightning Thief. He would be interested to know that they made it into a Disney series. I hope you have a wonderful evening at your neighbor's place. As for winter sowing, I don't have any spare milk jugs at home ( poor planning) so I planted them in containers and put glass jars on them for the Greenhouse effect. The YouTuber that I follow ( EsthersGardeningAdventures) did something similar with plastic domes so hopefully it will work out. We haven't planned anything for this time. The first week of the month is usually a busy work week for me. We are planning to go to Panama City Beach by the end of May when the temps are a bit higher.
@Cornanda Congrats on your weight loss !!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Congrats!
@19shmoo69 Wow 50lbs, way to go !!
@Veta2018 Congrats on your weight loss journey !!
@trooworld Sorry you are feeling like that but please note that you are an awesome captain and an amazing individual. I'm in a rut myself, I've been stuck at 140s for the past few months. I know you can do this just keep going, things will get better. I hope you have a wonderful time at your art opening and see all your friends.
@TeresaW2024 I love coffee caramels from TJ Max!! I'm not much of a coffee person but something about those coffee caramels that I can't seem to get enough of. Glad you are drinking lots of water and recording everything.
Hello Everyone! Work has been crazy as usual. Hopefully, things will slow down next week. I haven't been walking much these past 2 days, I need to catch up tomorrow and go for a long walk. My mom sent a big package from India for the kids filled with all kinds of desserts, snacks, hard candies and so on which my kids love so much, unfortunately, I like them too so now I'm walking around the house chanting " It's not for me". I hope I don't give in to my cravings. Happy Saturday everyone!!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ON VALETA AKA VETA2018!
What made you decide to improve your health and join MFP?
I have a few reasons. First, I’ve been having a ache in my left wrist and ankle for a long time, so I thought changing my diet and losing some weight might help. Then, In January 2022, I quit smoking cigarettes and within a year put on 20 pounds. I was at my highest weight of 180 pounds.(I ‘m 5ft tall) At the end of August of 2023, I decided I was going to start eating healthier. Also, Ten years ago, my older sister was doing a 12 week challenge, to support her I joined along and lost 40 pounds. When we realized we both weighed 180 pounds, we decided to lose it together again. Only, she changed her mind, so I’m glad I have y'all.
What makes improving your health worth doing?
I didn't think I looked that heavy but I used to lose my breath doing things like running. I have more energy and just feel all around better.
What have you tried in the past that hasn't worked?
I only watch what I ate once before in my life. It was after the loss of my husband. I decided to join my sister in her weight loss challenge as support and to distract me from my grief. I ended up losing 45 pounds in her 12 week program. It was a strict program. Not something I could do long term. So after we were done with her challenge, I returned to eating the way I used to.
What have you tried that has worked?
I started with that same challenge I did 10 years ago, but tweaked It over time by adding dairy. It was sort of a keto diet. I researched many different diets and personalized my own with forever in mind.
What form of exercise do you enjoy?
I used to have a couple girl pals that I worked out with twice a week, just for fun. We did Zumba, Yoga, and walked/ran. We even did a 5k Mudarella together. After I got married, I moved away and we stopped working out. When I started eating healthy, I had a hard time with motivation to exercise. I didn't have anyone to workout with and I would get winded doing cardio. What worked for me is to constantly change up my routine. Do low -intensity cardio, low-intensity kickboxing, dancing, yoga, palates, and Barr. After I built up my stamina and agility, I was able to do more HIIT and Tabata workouts too. I read about losing muscle instead of fat. I did not want that to happen so I started using water bottles and eventually moved up to dumbbells. I started strength training 3 times a week. Over time, I increase my strength workout to everyday after my cardio workout.
Are there things you didn't do before that you're able to do now?
Run and cardio workouts without getting exhausted and running out of breath.
What is something non-weight related you have done or learned that you may not have if you hadn't started improving your health?
I have learned mindfulness and to live in the present with more awareness. I practiced mindful eating, mindful fitness, and meditation. It has helped me with anxiety and to have a better understanding of others.
What are your favorite health and fitness blogs, books, or magazines that you have read/do read?
I have read so many but Healthline.com is my go-to.
What is your favorite healthy food?
Sea food is my favorite healthy food. (SALMON, tuna, shrimp, almost any fish) My favorite snack is Almonds and favorite veggie is Broccoli.
How do you manage to alter your eating pattern?
I set my timer to go off every three hours to eat. In between I try to just drink water.
Is your family understanding about your health goals?
Sometimes. They tell me it's ok to cheat. And sometimes get annoyed when I refuse.
What is your goal for this next year?
To tone, strengthen and sculpt my figure.
What is your best piece of advice for those just starting their journey?
I had to want to be healthy. I had to do it for me, not anyone else. Then, I had carefully plan and make changes along the way. There's so many diets out there. It's about finding what works for you, that's why I use a combination of a few different ones.
Don't give up. Every day is a new day. Everyday I start over and I try to do better than the day before.
Do you have a photo that means a lot to you or one that represents reaching your health goals you’d like to share?
Thank you Valeta, these pictures are so fun to share with us! Your story is so inspiring, I'm so happy you're part of our team! I appreciate you sharing!

Good morning,
I have our sons baby shower today. It will be a test of how well I can choose healthy foods and portions. I have a plan and a positive attitude. I'm going to start the day with a small breakfast and a hearty workout. I'll probably need one more light snack before the shower, so I'm not starving. I do not want to overeat. This will be the first time seeing a lot of these people since I've lost my weight. I don't want to appear that I'm still dieting, because I don't want people to say stuff like "You can take a cheat day." or "How much skinnier do you want to get?". I want today to be like a normal rest of my life day. I believe that I've learned good habits, I will make good decisions and at the end of the day I will be within my calorie goal.💪Mission Slimpossible Strong!💪3 -

Good morning Team Slimpossible!!!! It's looks to be a really nice day here in Arkansas. My plan is to stay hydrated and get to moving. My baby girl is going to pick dresses for her last prom. I have to admit this hurts a lil bit.
I'm sorry I haven't caught up to everyone's posts. I was going to sit down yesterday and go through it all but my mind was all messed up. I went and got some coffee and sat by the creek again. I think I need to that more often.
Have a blessed day!5 -
Good Afternoon folks,
First off Congrats to @vegan4lyfe2012 for hitting ONEderland, @19shmoo69 for 50lbs. down, and @veta2018 for 40lbs. down. Awesome accomplishment folks.
Welcome back @tfelts147
Welcome @AyaTheTyga @reshii_devi
@vegan4lyfe2012 Thank you so much for my card. It is beautiful! It really made my day.
@AmbersWay My condolences to you for all the losses in your life the past month.
@laurelfit57 your pups are soooo cute!
Sorry I have been quiet, it has been a little crazy here emotionally. I believe I'm in a better place now. It is so crazy that months and dates of lost love ones can put you in a tailspin and just throw things off. I have been keeping up with everyone's posts. Just not much to add. I will catch up with everyone.
I didn't really have anything to post on the discussion question until recently.
What did you do today that made you feel good? I have been tracking my food again. Rather it is good or bad I am owning up to it.
Ice breaker question
What is your dream job?
Growing up I wanted to be a cosmetologist I was talked out of it by my dad. Today I color and cut most of my family's hair. I watch YouTube to learn and then try it out on my family. So far I have not messed up too bad. I even cut my own hair.

@reshii_devi I reread your entry about all you’ve been trying, it’s going to be fun following your progress. You’re inspiring me to bust out the measuring tape!
@Divya365 LOL that IS the same series how funny! I think the fourth and the fifth are the best of the series so far. It’s the first time I borrowed books from my nephew (I’d bought them a few years ago). My nephew plays a few instruments, he was playing a clarinet for this concert. I thought he’d be playing the tenor sax but I think that’s in the jazz band. I’m going to include a picture of him listening to the high school band teacher talking about how he hopes to see them all when they come to the high school (he’s in middle school and they combined performances at the high school, he has the best smile and looks so happy). Fun I hope all goes well with the glass jars! It looks fun to try winter sowing but I have trouble being in the cold. Your response is huge sorry but I’m going to ask one more thing, any eggplant tips? I rescued two that were going to be tossed at the greenhouse and haven’t grown them before.
@Veta2018 Thanks! I’ve looked through your spotlight a few times I love seeing your awesome smile! I hope the shower went well and people don’t treat you strangely, people really DO say the oddest things.
@tammymccrady6278 Woohoo that’s great news you’re back on track! I hope this next position is an amazing fit for you. We’re happy to see you! Hugs to you!
@trooworld I’d love to hear how the art exhibit went, hope it was awesome for you!
@TeresaW2024 Thanks! Oh my goodness now I want to go buy coffee caramels! I think half the team is tempted now! LOL I’d jumped in responding and kept seeing coffee caramels mentioned which I didn’t recall reading and sure enough I missed a bunch of posts (went straight to delete people who I thought hadn’t weighed in from the weigh in update). I’m proud of you for writing everything down!
Hi team, the garden club was so fun. Orchid Dave brought orchids for everyone to take home. One of my friend’s friends (we were next to each other on trivia night and hit it off, I’ll call her my new friend) came and she’s ready to join now. I think a few of us are going to the Sacramento Orchid Society 75th anniversary next weekend, I bought two tickets today so I'm definitely going. I had to do a corny charity pic with my charity tee on showing things all of us like to do wearing our charity shirt so I got another charity volunteer who was at the garden club to pose with me, there’s a handful of us that also go to the garden club which is fun. We did it running at the door so it’s not the best pic but I’m going to share it. I gave some tomato plants from the greenhouse away and won tomatillo plants so now I have three new tomatillos and an orchid I need to repot (the meeting ran an hour over as he stuck around to show us how to do it). It was definitely a good day to be a guest! I’m missing next month due to the charity event I’m leader on darnit. I made it to the farmer’s market for some fruit and stopped at my brother’s and did Walmart pickup for cat food. Got in some great weed pulling time and veggie harvesting so next up is getting the grow bags ready for tomato plants. I’m going to the herb nursery and farm tomorrow so not sure I’ll make it on here tomorrow night but I’ll try! I’m bummed their plants are pretty expensive so I’ll just get rare herbs and get the rest at my favorite nursery in town. Have an awesome Sunday!
Mason Getting inspired by the high school band teacher talking of how he can't wait for them to join band and work together in the future.
Courtney and I taking a pic while running with our orchids as the meeting went over by an hour and we were both late places (had Walmart pickup waiting).

@Divya365 Yeah, I don’t think I should buy those coffee caramels anymore. They are truly addicting! AND so hard to open!How sweet of your mom to send the KIDS treats. You just keep walking away.
@trooworld I’m so glad that the art opening went well and that you sold a painting. How wild if that man does turn out to be your old neighbor. I’m the same, if I stay up late, I’m still up at my usual time. Very annoying! 🙄
@Veta2018 Thank you so very much for sharing your story! I love how you said that learning to be mindful and living in the present with more awareness is important. I think if we all did that, we would also see the results we want. And never giving up is my life motto, too. Every day is a new day.
@txcritter69 I’m glad you are in a better place emotionally now. It’s hard when dates come up, and all the emotions of losing your loved one hit you like it was yesterday. I feel that every year, on the anniversary of my daughter’s death. Be gentle with yourself.
@Katmary71 Thanks for changing my weigh-in day. My sister’s weigh-in day at TOPS is on Tuesdays, and since she lives with me, it will work out better if we are on the same eat-and-starve schedule.I love orchids! We have a wonderful botanical garden here, and there is a whole section of amazing orchids in the greenhouse. I think I will take Joe there this week and walk around.
Mason is a very good-looking boy!
Good morning! Joe and I had such a lazy day yesterday that I forgot to get on the computer and check in with you all.I did do my rebound workout, which was the last day of a 15-minute, 6-day beginner program. On Monday, I will start a new one that will be 30 minutes. I might need to take a break or two. Rebounding is much harder than you might think and great fun! I even did a few arm exercises using my 5 lb. weights. I could do everything except bicep curls, which hurt my wrist. Ugh, maybe someday! I need to get Joe up so we can get to church. Pastor is starting a new series called “Power over life’s challenges.” It should be a great series, and I hope to learn a lot. Have a great day!

@trooworld I saw TeresaW2024 respond to your post I'd missed, I totally threw myself off yesterday as I came on to post the Member Spotlight in the morning so I missed everything before me and didn't figure it out until I'd already posted the Weigh in Update and had a few people who'd weighed in I had to go back and edit out. Not sure how I missed yours but that's very exciting news! Does the man who bought your painting remember you too? That seems like one of those things like you two were meant to meet again in the future. Have fun having coffee with your friend, I love you being inspired to start your next piece!
@TeresaW2024 I love the idea of taking Joe to go see orchids! I honestly thought they were more work than they are. I'd brought one home from a Take a Plant stand not knowing what it was and when it turned light green I thought I was killing it and left it at a stand (turns out they turn that color before sending out a flower shoot for crying out loud!). Has he enjoyed orchids in the past? Nature, art, and music are always great at reaching people. Power Over Life's Challenges definitely sounds like a useful lesson today. That's so frustrating on your wrist, I'm guessing the pain probably radiates up your arm right? I was thinking if you could put those wrist weight bands in a little higher than the wrist you might be able to do things like bicep and tricep curls but I don't know how high of weights they go up to. If it was for the lower body I have friends on here who hike and run with strap-on weights but not sure if there's a way to get them on the lower arm without the radiating pain issue. Some of my seated cardio videos are arm heavy if you ever want to check out those, I think the stretch bands you "could" tie on the upper part of your lower arm or use a loop.
HI team! I came on to log on weights and since there were only a couple posts from last night I caught up. I'm packing some food and doing some car maintenance since my car's a 1999 Toyota, hopefully I won't be stranded anywhere! I'm going to get my weight lifting done and get in the shower then have about 30 minutes of running all the seedlings outside for the day (thinking tonight will be their first night out at night). Have a great Sunday, looks like a gorgeous day here that's perfect for visiting with friends and shopping for herbs! Not looking forward to the gas station, we're back up to $5 at the cheap stations which stinks. I'm going to wear my micro current machine all day in the hopes it helps me doing this drive, not one of my brighter ideas! I have aunts in town and everyone's meeting up today for a BBQ but it's the one time I can't meet (if it was at my brother's house I could but since no one responded when I said I can't go I'm not even bothering suggesting it), little frustrating as if my brother and his family can't go things are always rearranged and with me my Mom's a "whatever" when I say I can't go which is why I'm working on not getting my feelings hurt by her anymore.4 -
Hi all, I'm keeping up with posts and thinking of you all, but I've been busy.....
Thank you @Veta2018 for sharing your story. You inspire me. Why do people do say the "cheat day" thing? Why do they care how much or little you eat? I know this is not unusual, but it's something I don't understand.
@Katmary71 - I think you need a "plant nerd" shirt. I say that with the utmost love and respect.
@trooworld - Hooray for selling a painting!
Mom and Dad will be here next weekend. This trip was REALLY important to Dad and I hope Mom doesn't get too confused by the change in her routine. I also hope the weather forecast improves as it looks like it may be rainy and one of the important things to Dad is to walk on the beach with Mom "one more time". (Mom has Alzheimer's)
I will finish my spring cleaning today, DH got the yard looking amazing. I'm excited for them to be here and a little nervous as well. Wish us luck!

@gemwolf110 - I think clean the yard and save the basement for a rainy day.
@19shmoo69 - Sitting by the creek sounds nice and relaxing. I like to go down to the river and fish. It relaxes me.
@txcritter69 - You're making progress...that's awesome. I cut my own bangs every now and then.
@Katmary71 - Thank you. I appreciate you choosing me for the members spotlight. That's nice that you got to take an orchid home. I need more indoor plants. Nice picture of you too.
@TeresaW2024 - You'll be doubling you minutes, that sounds like a good challenge. I still have an ache in my wrist. I've been trying wrist stretches. I press my hands back, I press them forward, and rotate them in circles in both directions. The new series “Power over life’s challenges.” your pastor will be starting sounds very interesting. I wish I could learn it too.
@trooworld - It's very easy for me to stay up late and get up early. No matter how late I stay up my body always gets up early. I feel good with only 5 hours but I've been try to get at least 7 hours. I hope you get all the stuff you need to done.
@Cornanda - I hope your mom and dads visit goes well. I'm glad you finished your spring cleaning. I finally, finished cleaning and de-cluttering all the kitchen cabinets, drawers, fridge and pantry. I've been working on it for months. Now, on to the bathroom.
@Sleepygirl79 - Way to go on the loss!
Thank you, everyone for the kind words. I enjoy these member spotlights because everyone's experience is unique.
The baby shower went well. I filled my plate with mostly fruits and veggies along with a spoonful of buffalo chicken dip and mostaccioli, and drank 4 bottles of water. I also treated myself to cake. At the end of the day, I stayed in calorie range. I guess it was obvious I lost a lot of weight. People were talking. Someone told me, what ever I've been doing is working. I also got a few complements. I simply said, It takes a lot of discipline. I looked different also because last month, I got new glasses. I've never wore glasses, so they've never seen me in them. Some people said they looked natural or I look more like my mom. I like that they hide the dark circles under my eyes.💪Mission Slimpossible Strong!💪7 -

So happy to have lost even though I went over calories several days. I made up by doing extra cardio yesterday. I am upping my self dicipline by giving myself consequences for slipping up like extra cardio and using my fav hobbies as rewards for doing the hard work like exercising instead of just doing as I please😄
