Let’s hear it for the dads, the ones who help us grow, give us guidance, and look out for us in a million different ways. And @19shmoo69, thank you for being an awesome dad. In small ways and big ways, you’ve helped make this world a better place for all of us. Wishing you and your family a very special Father’s Day.

@19shmoo69 I'm glad you're feeling comfortable in the Exodus Group, welcoming people is nice of you to do. You're always welcome to add your opinion to conversations here, I don't mind if you offer insight on mine and I'd think as long as it's tactful the rest wouldn't mind. How is your son doing today? Really hope and praying you find the perfect doctor to help him. Happy Father's Day Shmoo! You seem like an awesome Father too! Tfelt147 seems to have disappeared so you're back to our one dude!

@micaroo4 I'm glad your brother was still able to go perform, that would be tough with a head injury I commend him for going through with it.

@Cornanda Thank you! That's great news on your hip feeling better! I miss the feed too, they took the soul of the community out here. I've had a lot of friends leave MFP over it, if it wasn't for this group I would've as well.

@865jessica It's okay I got your weigh-in logged fast no worries. I hope you and your youngest are feeling better soon. All the “sick” food like crackers and soup are high sodium too so a gain makes sense, feel better and get through this.

@TeresaW2024 So weird I joined the group but now I can't access it at all, I think I joined the wrong thing? If I send you my name on Facebook would you mind inviting me? For some reason when I Google it I'm just getting groups I belong to with similar topics which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I AM curious to look into it though! I'm not feeling very motivated or part of things with the feed gone right now and everyone split up over different places and need to get some inspiration going. Berbere is pretty yummy check it out sometime!

@txcritter69 I hope you see a loss next week too! Good advice on the sunscreen I'm good at remembering when I'm going to the farm and my foundation has high SPF but I don't reapply which is bad. I get that with John the more you walk with neuropathy the more the feet burn at night which is frustrating.

@trooworld It IS a great recipe shoot I was excited to share a new good one with you! The food bank farm manager said he felt like a fraud basically being white with blonde hair and blue eyes giving an Ethiopian recipe which was pretty funny but it IS a great one. I added extra berbere to it then had the tumeric yogurt chicken. My neighbor and her boyfriend want to take me out for Ethiopian food which would be fun! It's been so long since I did the bookstore coffee shop thing, I really miss that! On rainy days that was my favorite thing to do in Santa Cruz and Capitola was to get a mocha and browse in bookstores. Awesome steps! Can't wait to hear how you like the books!

@megnolia82 Great job on a good week you're doing great!

Hi gang! Got up early and worked out then made my veggie platter for my parent's and headed over. We got about 8 different plants in and I did a bunch of weeding. I'm wiped out and ate too much. I'm headed outside to water and get the garbage cans out followed by a bath. Have a great night and Monday, hope you all had a good Father's Day.

Hey all, hope you had a good day!

We are in for a major heat wave the next few days. 30-35 every day with humidex in the 40s I’m sure some of you must be in the path as well. We just got AC at work this year so we will really give it a test this week! Unfortunately my kids don’t have AC at school
So they are not looking forward to the week. We’ll see how it goes.

I hope you have a week of good sleep, good food and good fun.

My brother has an appointment, finally, with his regular doctor. My brother thinks a muscle has pulled off his shoulder and rolled up down his back. He can't use his right arm much at all - can't pull, can't lift. He already can't use the left arm because of several injuries and failed surgeries. He's pretty messed up right now.

I've been feeling depressed and the tears flow too easily. If I reflect on my thoughts, it keeps bringing me back to my past. I can't change the past, I can only change the future, and I haven't determined how to do that yet. I've made the changes with my health which kept me content for awhile but now I'm searching for something new. I just want to run and run. Run away from these emotions. I ran so hard that my calves are now very sore and tight and took me out of my daily exercise routines for a few days while they heal. Now I've been consuming my time with my garden.

@micarro4 That is good that your brother will see a doctor. I am sure he did do some damage to his body

@trooworld You did have a full day. Joe and I used to love going to a bookstore and having coffee. I should make that happen again.

@Veta2018, I’m so sorry you are feeling depressed. Learning to put our past in the past can be very difficult. One of the things I’m learning is to notice my thoughts and then question the purpose of that thought. Am I having it to just beat myself up or remember a painful time? If so, then I mentally practice putting that thought down and changing my thoughts to something else that is pleasant and good. Ouch on those painful calves!

    @Katmary71 I replied to your message. :)

Hello! I got up early and went to Walmart to beat the heat. I came home hot and hungry, so I decided to skip my workout and do some housework instead. I may take Mondays as a rest day through the summer and do a rebounding on Sunday mornings before church. I’m working on my new program called Diligent Mind Self-Care. I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts from the creator. The program has these four-week challenges that he called “ Becoming Weakless,” which means I will learn to do hard things and not succumb to the temptation to do what is easy. This week, I have to do the following:
    • 10 minutes of Meditation each day - I am to focus on only on my breath, and as my thoughts come, redirect back to the task of thinking only about my breath. This is incredibly hard and probably the one I will struggle with the most.
    • 10 minutes of unentertained time/boredom: I sat in my room and tried to endure the boredom. I actually think I will enjoy this one in time.
    • Social Discomfort - Do one thing this week that puts you outside your comfort zone. I chose to go to Walmart this morning without my makeup. Believe it or not, this is a big one for me and I didn’t die! :D
    • 4) Foam roll 3 times - I’m waiting for mine to arrive!
    • Eliminate all snacking - I will eat my two meals and that is it! I did have some nuts with my lunch so technically it wasn’t a snack, right? :D
    • No Complaining—I told Joe he would have to help me with this one! Complaining is one of the things I do best!
    • Cold Exposure - 10 seconds during my shower with the coldest water I can get it to. That one is hard!
  • micaroo4
    micaroo4 Posts: 4,818 Member
@TeresaW2024 - I don't think I could do the ice cold shower, not even for 10 seconds! I can do hard things, but OMG, Brrrr!

Quick check in. Camping was great, I don't think I ate too much, but I definitely ate not the healthiest of foods and thoroughly enjoyed each bite.
I am so tired I will check in again tomorrow and do better

Just a little update: I walked by myself today listening to my jams which helps me tune out the world around me and helps me walk faster. My quickest speed used to be 23 mph on map my walk app but today I surprised myself and actually got down to 21mph. I had a lady stop me at the park and tell me I was walking fast. Lol. Which was nice to hear since I'm usually a slower walker.

TUESDAY QUESTION: WHAT IS DIFFERENT TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?

I ended up going to the ER last night, on steroids and will hopefully be feeling better sooner than later. My answer to the question is a result of my back fusion/fusion revision surgery that my upper body isn't as bad as the rest of my body and arms improved and my BP isn't as high as it used to get when I was bad enough to go for help which means I don't have to stick around after I get a Torrodol shot for my blood pressure to not be an emergency too and it was still working when I went to bed. I don't need my walker as much either thank goodness.

My brother fixed my driver's window, the motor had died and I couldn't roll it down, that's such a relief to have done now. I went to work for an hour then came home and got in bed until I went to Steve's and stuck around for dinner as well. I owe them all Blizzards for the free work and car wash so that's tomorrow or Wednesday.

    Hey y'all,

Just popping in real quick to say I'm still here. I'm really terrible about checking in. I'm gonna try to do better.

Today, I finally ate some veggies. I went shopping on Saturday and bought a whole bunch of veggies, so I wouldn't have any excuses. I made a salad to go with with my homemade enchiladas and it really tasted good. I'm proud that I ate my veggies 🥬🥒🍅

The big thing is I am 99% carnivore. Last year I was "trying to eat right".

@micarro4, The cold shower isn’t fun but could be much worse. The water in the summertime here in Georgia isn’t freezing. After a hard workout, it actually feels kind of good. Some people take ice baths. I say NO way!! :D

@lislisa123 That is great that you got your walking speed to 21mph. Keep it up! :)

@Katmary71 I'm so sorry to hear about your ER visit, but I'm glad you didn’t have to stay. I'm praying you feel better today. Blizzards are my idea of a good payment! :)

@DrewsAnna Good job on eating more veggies! That is something I need to work on, too. It’s so easy when it’s hot to make a quick sandwich with some chips. I love enchiladas!! :)

@trooworld I’m glad the Zoom meeting went well. I think many people probably go into such a big decision as bariatric surgery and think they can do some things their way as if the tried, and true knowledge of the doctor isn’t one of the most important things to do for getting the results you want. Enjoy your Taste of Little Italy! I would love that! :)

@19shmoo69 I’ve looked into the carnivore way of eating, and I think if I was on my own, I would probably give it a try. I could eggs and bacon every day of my life! :)

Good morning! I’m very happy with the weight loss I had this week! I made a rule for myself that I wasn’t going to step on my scale until Tuesday morning, so I had no idea if I was doing well or not. I think the one thing that is helping the most is not snacking between lunch and dinner and definitely not after dinner. Also, getting back to lifting weights is helping. Now, I want to see what I can do this week! :) I’m home all day and have some laundry, my weakless challenge stuff, read my book, and work on this very hard puzzle I’m doing. Have a great day! :)

TUESDAY QUESTION: WHAT IS DIFFERENT TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?
My very first thought was that my niece and her kids aren’t living in my house, which was happening a year ago. That was a very hard time for us all. I hated giving up my exercise room, and I’m so thankful to have it back. Ohhh and that I got my puzzle area back! :)

TUESDAY QUESTION: WHAT IS DIFFERENT TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?
Rich did a DNA test and discovered quite a number of half siblings, first cousins, an aunt, and an uncle. Getting to know the ones that are willing to meet up and talk on the phone has enriched both our lives. Learning some of the history of the family that gave Rich up for adoption has been a lesson in history about Maine in the 1950s.

@TeresaW2024 - Thank you for the advice. Wow, those are some tough challenge goals. I think I might complain a lot and don't always notice that I'm doing it. So that would be the difficult one for me. I like to turn the hot water down the last few minutes before I get out of the shower. (Not cold but cooler) Cooler water is good for the hair and skin. It closes your pores. I think I could do that one though. Glad you got your exercise room and puzzle area back. It's tough not having the space. My living room is also my office and exercise room...lol. Congratulations on your loss this week.
@lislisa123 - That's great your walking speed is improving. I listen to music while I walk too. I like to walk to the beat and just tune out the world.
    TUESDAY QUESTION:
WHAT IS DIFFERENT TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?

Wow...So much has changed since last year. I am grateful I decided to change my lifestyle by eating nutritious foods. Last year, on an average day, I would not eat all day and then eat an oversized dinner and munch on junk food till bed. Today, I eat a few small portioned nutritious meals throughout the day with an occasional after dinner snack. I guess, I grew up thinking you're supposed to eat dessert after dinner. You know...a three course meal.(salad, entree, dessert) Now, I actually think about food differently. The last time that I ate a few Pringles, I didn't even eat the whole serving. They just weren't as tasty as I remembered. It's not like that with everything. I'm still a sucker for chocolate. I portion it out and get out of the kitchen. Although those nuts can be tricky. I had to reduce my portions size in half because I have a bad habit of sneaking back into the kitchen and grabbing a few more. Now, if I decide I want more, I'm just grabbing the other half.

@Katmary71 - That has to be difficult, sounds like you deal with more painful days that good ones and you don't let it stop you. Your strong and always stay busy. I hope you get some relief soon.
@DrewsAnna - Great accomplishment. V is for veggies and there really good for you.
@trooworld - Thank you, I'm tying to not get stuck in my negative thoughts. I've been to the Taste of Chicago. I'd rather eat a bite of a lot of different foods, more than a lot of one food.

I'm almost halfway through my Ab's challenge(Day 14). The sit-ups are the most difficult. I do them in sets. Today, I did 3 sets of 20 and then the final 5 sit-ups, 85 crunches...phew, 42 single leg raises, 42 double leg raise...ouch, and a 55 sec. plank. Last year, I did a 1 min. plank challenge for 30 days, but I still watch every second click by so very slowly...lol. I feel like my stomach is less flabby. I took a picture when I started the challenge. It will be interesting to see the changes when I'm done.

    Good morning,

@Veta2018 I am sorry you are in a battle with depression right now. Take a deep breath, stop and smell the roses. I slip in and out of it. This yr. My goal has been to Wake up every morning and tell myself that I am happy with what I have. "Today I Choose To Be Happy!" I have been letting go of the grief and/or any demons that try to change the outcome of my day. The Ab's challenge sound like it is going great. I had to put in off until I finish this chemo cream treatment.

@TeresaW2024 Great loss! I like your mind self-care program. It does sound challenging.

@laurelfit57 I am glad to see you had a great time camping.

@AustinRuadhain Great job on the loss.

@lislisa123 Congrats on the speed increase during your walk! WTG!

@Katmary71 I am sorry you had to end up in the ER. I hope you were able to find some relief.

@DrewsAnna Great job on getting those veggies in.

@troowold One thing I have noticed with my DIL is her portion sizes of food. The fact that she really focuses on protein first.

I woke up this morning and my face is swollen, it feels awful. The countdown is on to the end of his week. I have an appt with the dog trainer tomorrow at 10 to see where Diesel will be spending the next 3 weeks. I am going to keep this short. I have to get something done around the house today.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?
That I am seeing the better of things in my life and learning to not focus on the bad. I have been truly learning to enjoy even the smallest of things in a day that brings a smile to my face.

    Have a blessed day

    Good morning,

Today, our "new to us" 5th wheel toy hauler is coming. We are nervous because we only have a tiny little space to park it in and we won't be able to open the slide outs. It will finally be be home. I'll be able to get things into it that I packed up a month ago. Lol... it's like I have 2 homes in my house.

    Y'all have a good day 😊
