@trooworld Your wolf pics reminded me of a short video I saw years ago about how the wolves changed the rivers. So interesting

Hey gang! Love seeing the wolf sanctuary pics and found the video interesting! I'm not feeling the best and just got home so I'll hopefully I'll have more time to catch up tomorrow. There's a fundraising event at a wine restaurant for the charity tomorrow night I'm planning to go to and have a long day so we'll see if I make it, maybe just one glass and I'll come home early. Starting the plant sale stuff for the garden club at the farm greenhouse in the morning and have a lot of work to get done in between, I'm looking forward to having this week behind me. Have a great Tuesday friends! Today was awesome with eating cleaner though low protein.

@txcritter69 I’m glad you found us and really hope you won’t ever give up on yourself. You are a great member of this group. And so is Diesel!

@megnolia82 I hope having your friends over will be a good start to taking care of yourself no matter what your husband is doing. You deserve to be good to yourself and do things that will benefit you.
@Katmary71 I hope you feel better and enjoy your fundraising event.
@trooworld Love, the pics of the wolves! I’m with you on wanting the heat to end. I’m so sick of walking outside and feeling like I’m in a sauna. :
Good morning! Yesterday's dentist appointment went fine except for paying the bill. Joe and I both had to have X-rays, which always raises the bill significantly. But I’m thankful for a great dentist and dental hygienist and the ability to pay the bill.
This evening, I have to go to the church and participate in an interview process for our American Heritage Girls (think Christian Girl Scouts) since I’m their church rep. I'm unsure what is expected of me, but I’ll be there.
I decided yesterday to track my calories for a week to see how I’m doing with my eating. As you know, I’m not a weight or food tracker, but I am curious if my two meals a day are still overdoing it. I feel great, and I can tell that my clothes are feeling looser. Yesterday, I wore a T-shirt that didn’t fit, but now it fits perfectly. Yay me!!
DISCUSSION QUESTION: What emotional or psychological triggers lead me to make choices that sabotage my weight loss goals, and how can I address or manage these triggers more effectively?
Good question! For the last couple of years, my biggest trigger has been Joe. His declining health and dementia had me spinning out of control for a long time. My sister’s stress has also affected my goals because it’s so easy to give in and drink and overeat with her. For the last couple of months, I have managed these stressors with the Deligent Mind Self Care program. It is an incredible game changer and something I am praying I never stop doing!

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What emotional or psychological triggers lead me to make choices that sabotage my weight loss goals, and how can I address or manage these triggers more effectively?
Probably my worst trigger is the idea of Rewards. At work, I used to always get myself a snack when I finished a task, before moving on to the next task. 🙃 I foolishly trained my brain into expecting that food reward, every time I crossed something off the list. So now I give myself a different kind of reward. I take a short break. I might walk around the factory, just a quick lap to serve as punctuation between the tasks on my list.

Good morning Slims. I’ve been keeping up on reading the posts but haven’t had much time to contribute. This summer has been crazy. I’ve been helping my cousin again this summer with her sewing business and we have wedding dress alterations booked until the end of October. I already warned her this will be my last summer working full time. Hubby is retiring in March and grandbaby is 6 months old now so don’t want to miss out on any of that.
Our weather finally gave us a reprieve for a couple of days. It won’t last but it’s cool enough this morning to workout outdoors so I’m going to bring my rebounder outside (out of view of the neighbours of course lol)
DISCUSSION QUESTION: What emotional or psychological triggers lead me to make choices that sabotage my weight loss goals, and how can I address or manage these triggers more effectively?
My biggest discouragement comes
from seeing no progress especially when I’m putting in my best effort. I also have trouble not treating myself when everyone else is. I have to accept that I’m not everyone else. I can’t eat/move/live like everyone else. I have to do what’s best for me.

DISCUSSION QUESTION: What emotional or psychological triggers lead me to make choices that sabotage my weight loss goals, and how can I address or manage these triggers more effectively?
One of my triggers is thinking" I can have a taste of that". In all reality a taste is the tip of a spoon not a bowl full. That mentality is so easy to do during a church potblessed meal. Now I take my own little bit of food or I take a scale and weigh everything I get.5 -

We were out exploring Bangor today. We were having a great day, but this afternoon, Rich had a fall. He's being a tough guy, so I hope he's not too badly hurt. We were in Mt Hope Cemetery, looking for the location of one of the scenes from the movie Pet Sematary (Stephen King, 1989). Rich tripped and fell down on the pavement. He smacked his knee, hurt his wrist, and maybe pulled a muscle in his ribs. He's using ice. Doesn't want to go to a clinic, because he's on vacation 🙄. I'll just have to wait and see how he's doing in the morning. 🤷

@micaroo4 Oh no I hope Rich is feeling better soon, I'm sorry to hear about his fall.
Hi team just got home from the fundraiser and need to get to bed not feeling well. Have a great Wednesday.4 -
Rich is moving around ok this morning. Swelling around his knee has gone down a lot. His wrist is sore, but he doesn't think it's broken. His biggest complaint is the ribs. But he's better than last night. He'll be ok.

@Jactop, Congrats on your grandbaby!
I think one of the biggest issues with the way we diet and measure our progress is that it can often make us feel like we have failed, which then just snowballs to us doing things that make us feel worse. How to get off that rollercoaster is the key.
@19shmoo69 Yup, the bite rule isn’t always the best idea for us, is it? Potblessed meals! I know all about those and the danger on those casserole-laden tables.
@vegan4lyfe2012 You will NOT give up!!!!
@micaroo4 Oh my goodness, poor Rich! I hope he recovers quickly so you all can continue enjoying your vacation.
Good morning! Well, my food tracking lasted one day. I tried to track it yesterday, and it annoyed me so much that I stopped using the app and deleted it from my phone!
Today, I have to take Joe to his oncologist for his usual monthly appointment. My bestie is coming for coffee when we get back home, so that will be nice. I will do my workout with the rebounder because I’ve done upper-body strength training for the last two days, and my arms are tired! Y’all have a great day!

Good morning,
@trooworld The dentist went ok, I had a cavity filled. where it came from is beyond me. They found it on my last visit. Yes Diesel has been doing so well except for his behavior with other dogs. This is going to be the focus of is sessions for the next few weeks. We will also be working on his reactivity with someone knocking on the door.
@TeresaW2024 I am glad your dental appt was better than mine. Sorry about the part about x-rays. Doing a calorie check is not a bad idea. It will show you where to improve on your choices. If using the app is annoying you have you tried to just write down what you eat everyday and at the end of the week go back and reflect on it.
@micaroo4 I am glad the Rich is feeling better and that he did not seriously hurt himself with that fall. I hope y'all can enjoy the rest of your time on vacation.
@Jactop Spend all the time you can with your grandbaby. They grow up so fast. We are in the triple digits for the rest of the month here this weekend it is expected to be 107. Not sure what the heat index is going to be.
@19shmoo69 yep the take a bite gets me too.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Giving up is not part of our vocabulary! Hang in there!
@Katmary71 I hope you are feeling better.
So, I took the day off yesterday after getting home from the dentist. It was too hot to get outside. Today is going to be a day of catching up on things around the house and working on engagement with Diesel. His trainer and I have decided that moving up to a starmark pro training collar is the next step with him when it comes to reactive issues so that will be introduced tomorrow morning when Kellie come with her dog.

My dental work went well I have stitches on both sides top back of my mouth, strange I don't miss the tooth they pulled because they pulled the lower one last year. That one I did miss. I go back in a month for a checkup, I was only in pain for a couple of days. Its really hot here. My body decided to attack me, my hands were peeling, and I got blisters on the bottom of my feet, lots of them. I had to call my doctor and get a refill on my medications because the one I have expired almost two years ago.
DISCUSSION QUESTION: What emotional or psychological triggers lead me to make choices that sabotage my weight loss goals, and how can I address or manage these triggers more effectively? When I think that I've lost enough weight to eat a bit more, then I gain the weight back, rewarding myself with food when that is the last thing I should be doing. Pay strict attention to my food intake.4 -

@FushkiaKat Oh no did the body attack happen after the dental work? My body does that sometimes too like an inflammatory response. I hope you feel better soon!
@lisalisa123 LOL love the meme!
@txcritter69 Thank you! I hope Kellie is able to help with Diesel, also hope your mouth is feeling better from the dental work.
@trooworld Thank you! Oh no I'm sorry to hear about the migraine and feeling sick after taking the medication. I find naps help with a lot of things, the extra sleep when feeling bad is one of the best medicine's. The ants have been a serious pain!
@TeresaW2024 Tracking IS a PITA but the info is usually pretty helpful if you're able to do it for a short time. I DO get the frustration! Enjoy the time with your bestie!
@Jactop Congratulations on your grandbaby! Good point on the question answer, it's frustrating seeing everyone else being able to do something you (we) struggle with. I do that a lot with avoiding inflammatory stuff like the charity event last night having wine and gluten because “it's not fair everyone else can have it”. Paying for it today!
@micaroo4 I'm glad to hear Rich is feeling better today, that's great news.
@vegan4lyfe2012 No you WILL NOT give up!
QUESSTION ANSWER: I put it in Jactop's comment too but feeling it's unfair I have to be so strict because of my health issues is a big one. Another big one is when my pain is real bad and I feel hopeless/helpless if I don't really want to live much longer who really cares what I eat? Then like last night after I had wine and flatbread pizzas I stopped to get dessert for tonight's Salsa Planning Committee meeting and figured I may as well get ice cream since I already blew it today anyway. Discouragement too I've made major changes and don't get huge results but again one thing when I'm doing better pain/mobility-wise that's true is my mental health, eating, and exercise are all at a good place so it's worth it.
Hi team! Weirdest thing happened I used a different email address to send out a work email and somehow all my bookmarks are transferred to that email now and not this one. So accessing the spreadsheet on my desktop is impossible since I don't have permission with that account and now it's all attached to an email I only created to get Peacock on sale. There's a billion steps to fix it like reloading Windows I'm not in the mental space to deal with so I'm on my laptop in bed right now. Tonight's the last Salsa Cookoff planning meeting as it's this Saturday so lots to do this evening. Tomorrow's a huge seeding day at the greenhouse too. Mostly been resting until up until now but need to get moving. Have a great night and happy Thursday!5 -
My coach has me running. Looking back, other than my baseline run the other day, I hadn't ran since the marathon attempt in October. Baseline 2 mile run was 31:40. Today I ran two miles in 30:33. Small improvement but I'll take it.5
-
@txcritter69 Yes, I have written down what I’ve eaten and reflected on it and that does work much better than trying to weigh and measure everything. Have you seen a marked difference in Diesel’s behavior since starting his training? We have a neighbor with two German Shepherds who are so well-behaved. Where is my Maggie will stand in the yard barking her fool head off at them, as if they couldn’t eat her if they wanted to.
@FushiaKat We are all giving the dentist our money this week!
Oh my gosh, I’m sorry that your body has attacked you. I hope the medication heals your hands and feet. How often does that happen to you? I also had that same problem with eating and the scale. I would eat if it was down, and sometimes, I would be upset and eat when it was up. It's not a good habit.
@Katmary71 That is crazy about your bookmarks moving over with the new email address. I’m trying to figure out how that even happened. You must have clicked a button without realizing what it meant. I hope you get it fixed without too much effort. So, how many are entered in this Salsa Cookoff? What is your role going to be?
I read your answer to the question, and I can only imagine how much of a struggle it is for you on days when you are in pain. My only suggestion is to just make one decision at a time for your health and well-being and not worry about the big picture but just think about what you are doing in the moment to help you feel your best. Did that make sense?
@19shmoo69 Good job on improving your running time. Have you heard of rucking? It’s carrying weight on your back. I imagine you would be someone who would like rucking.
@trooworld Do you usually have more migraines in the summer? I hope you feel better and will be able to enjoy your anniversary. How many years is it?
Good morning! Today I will do a shoulder workout, jump on the rebounder, clean my house, and maybe do some pest control since I’ve seen unwanted critters around the house lately. I will also give Maggie a sponge bath and trim the hair hanging in her eyes. She is such a hot mess!
Joe and I started watching the TV show The Chosen about Jesus and his disciples. It is so good, and Joe loves it! He can’t handle a lot of shows because he gets lost with plots. But he understands the plot in this show and is so happy, which makes me happy.
5 -
@TeresaW2024 I have heard of rucking. I've seen it in the CrossFit games and some weight loss shows. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've some people that have lost 100 pounds and then put a ruck on that weighs 100 and then just walk imagining that's what they had to do everyday in life. I may try that at sometime.5

Thursday Ice Breaker Question
If you met someone that wanted advice on how to lose weight what would be something you would say to them?
I think I would probably start by asking what they had already tried, what they are currently eating, what kind of activity they do on a regular basis, and how much change they were willing to make. My first advice is to keep a log of what they are eating and the exercise they are getting.

@TeresaW2024 I'm thinking I clicked Sync which I thought meant the same account on other devices would have the same bookmarks but that's not what it did. I think the salsa total is 23 at this point, getting excited! Yep I get what you're saying, thank you. I'm still debating what I'll do. Aw poor Maggie I feel bad for her she's had a tough month! I love Joe enjoying The Chosen, that's great! I've only seen a few episodes but really enjoyed it.
@trooworld I did the salsa cookoff the first year which was 2022, I'm not doing it now I had to make so much my grocery budget for the week went to salsa which is nuts! Shoot I hope some caffeine knocks out the migraine too, Happy Anniversary!
@19shmoo69 Great job on the run and nice improvement!
Hi team! I just got home from Last Ministry, Yvonne taught a class there on supplements today and I hung out with everyone for awhile afterward. I helped start a bunch of seeds at the greenhouse this morning. I couldn't sleep last night so I'm exhausted right now! Good day just busy. Have a great Friday!
